Generative adversarial networks (GANs) have gained popularity for their ability to synthesize images from random inputs in deep learning models. One of the notable applications of this technology is the creation of realistic videos known as deepfakes, which have been misused on social media platforms. The difficulty lies in distinguishing these fake videos from real ones with the naked eye, leading to significant concerns. This study proposes a supervised machine learning approach to effectively differentiate between real and counterfeit videos by detecting visual artifacts. To achieve this, two facial features are extracted: eye blinking and nose position, utilizing landmark detection techniques. Both features were trained on supervised machine learning classifiers and evaluated using the publicly available UADFV and Celeb-DF deepfake datasets. The experiments successfully demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a promising and superior performance, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 97% for deepfake detection in contrast to state-of-the-art methods investigating the same datasets. © (2025), (science and information Organization). Application of adaptive guard channel reservation under hard handoff constraint in wireless cellular network

Voice is the king of communication in wireless cellular network (WCN). Again, WCNs provide two types of calls, i.e., new call (NC) and handoff call (HC). Generally, HCs have higher priority than NCs because call dropping gives negative impact to users as compared to call blocking. So, to handle this problem some channels are reserved for HCs. If more channels are reserved for HCs, then handoff call dropping probability (HCDP) decreases at the same time as new call blocking probability (NCBP) increases;if fewer channels are reserved for HCs, HCDP increases and NCBP decreases. If channels are reserved for HCs by considering target HCDP then HCDP will be below the target and NCBP will be minimum for that target. So, keeping this in mind in this paper, we propose a mathematical model that estimates optimal number of guard channels (GCs) for HCs by considering target HCDP and keeping NCBP minimum. The mathematical model proposed assume static traffic parameters. However, in reality, the user traffic is dynamic and usually inherited through its testbed implementation. To obtain optimal performance we propose an adaptive GC reservation scheme by considering hard handoff constraint while implementing this model through testbed. Finally, we have verified testbed results with those of the model-based approach applying the parameters of different Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) standards to evaluate its applicability to real systems. Enhancing aquaculture water quality forecasting using novel adaptive multi-channel spatial-temporal graph convolutional network

In recent years,aquaculture has developed rapidly,especially in coastal and open ocean *** practice,water quality prediction is of critical ***,traditional water quality prediction models face limitations in handling complex spatiotemporal *** address this challenge,a prediction model was proposed for water quality,namely an adaptive multi-channel temporal graph convolutional network(AMTGCN).The AMTGCN integrates adaptive graph construction,multi-channel spatiotemporal graph convolutional network,and fusion layers,and can comprehensively capture the spatial relationships and spatiotemporal patterns in aquaculture water quality *** aquaculture water quality data and the metrics MAE,RMSE,MAPE,and R^(2) were collected to validate the *** results show that the AMTGCN presents an average improvement of 34.01%,34.59%,36.05%,and 17.71%compared to LSTM,respectively;an average improvement of 64.84%,56.78%,64.82%,and 153.16%compared to the STGCN,respectively;an average improvement of 55.25%,48.67%,57.01%,and 209.00%compared to GCN-LSTM,respectively;and an average improvement of 7.05%,5.66%,7.42%,and 2.47%compared to TCN,*** indicates that the AMTGCN,integrating the innovative structure of adaptive graph construction and multi-channel spatiotemporal graph convolutional network,could provide an efficient solution for water quality prediction in aquaculture.

Considering the fact of increasing population and as a result, the number of patients is constantly increasing the delivery of medical services must be prompt and of good quality. There is no question that any perfect healthcare system should track the given activities, behaviours, schedules, and even general health of the patients. The focus of this study is in utilizing ML and DL in tracing patients and diagnosing ailments. Mounted cameras from different orientations and placements are intended for health monitoring and event surveillance for possible medical issues in the future. Classical ML and more advanced DL methods are applied for analyzing physiological and behavioral patterns to identify health conditions and stress the importance of high accuracy and real-time performance for practical purposes. Initial outcomes show that patient outcomes are enhanced by getting timely medical advice while decreasing hospital-based burdens on staff. Two challenging datasets, ETRI-Activity3D and NTU-RGB-D, are pre-processed to remove unimportant data and reduce computational load. A strong multi-feature description system can extract gradient values, and the process is followed by feature matching and feature optimization. Then, in the last Maximum Entropy Markov Model (MEMM) classifier is used, achieving an accuracy of 97.2% for ETRI-Activity3D, and 98.3% for the NTU-RGB-D dataset. ©2025 The authors.

Few-Shot Referring Video Single- and Multi-Object Segmentation Via Cross-Modal Affinity with Instance Sequence Matching

Referring Video Object Segmentation (RVOS) aims to segment specific objects in videos based on the provided natural language descriptions. As a new supervised visual learning task, achieving RVOS for a given scene requires a substantial amount of annotated data. However, only minimal annotations are usually available for new scenes in realistic scenarios. Another practical problem is that, apart from a single object, multiple objects of the same category coexist in the same scene. Both of these issues may significantly reduce the performance of existing RVOS methods in handling real-world applications. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective model to address these issues by incorporating a newly designed cross-modal affinity (CMA) module based on a Transformer architecture. The CMA module facilitates the establishment of multi-modal affinity over a limited number of samples, allowing the rapid acquisition of new semantic information while fostering the model’s adaptability to diverse scenarios. Furthermore, we extend our FS-RVOS approach to multiple objects through a new instance sequence matching module over CMA, which filters out all object trajectories with similarity to language features that exceed a matching threshold, thereby achieving few-shot referring multi-object segmentation (FS-RVMOS). To foster research in this field, we establish a new dataset based on currently available datasets, which covers many scenarios in terms of single-object and multi-object data, hence effectively simulating real-world scenes. Extensive experiments and comparative analyses underscore the exceptional performance of our proposed FS-RVOS and FS-RVMOS methods. Our method consistently outperforms existing related approaches through practical performance evaluations and robustness studies, achieving optimal performance on metrics across diverse benchmark tests. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

AI-powered dining: text information extraction and machine learning for personalized menu recommendations and food allergy management

Individuals with food allergies face limitations in social events and restaurant dining. Artificial intelligence solutions should be offered to this category. In this paper, a recommender system is proposed for the benefit of people with food allergies. The system aims to identify convenient options for the user in a restaurant/hotel menu. The system collects user’s allergy information and the restaurant menu, it extracts dishes names using a machine learning model. Then it conducts search about the recipes of these dishes and identify allergen-free ones. The system has been implemented as a mobile application involving a Naïve Bayes classification model and a web search API. The performance of the classifier was significant (accuracy 87%). Yet, an enhancement approach was introduced to increase the accuracy to 90%. In addition, an expert-driven test has been conducted and 98.5% of the system allergen identification was accurate in comparison with the original recipes used by restaurants’ chefs. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has raised significant security concerns, especially with regard to secure data transfer among resource-constrained devices. While effective, traditional encryption techniques are often computationally expensive and easily identifiable, making them unsuitable for many IoT applications. Steganography is an intriguing approach that allows hiding sensitive information within seemingly ordinary data, preventing unauthorized parties from detecting and accessing it. Existing studies on IoT security lack a comprehensive analysis of steganographic techniques tailored for IoT-specific constraints. This study bridges this gap by providing a comprehensive review of steganographic methods for IoT, exploring approaches across many domains such as spatial, frequency, and hybrid methods used in images, videos, audio, text, network traffic, hybrid approaches, and quantum-based methods. We evaluated and validated the techniques employed using key metrics such as imperceptibility, robustness, and embedding capacity while emphasizing the computational restrictions, real-time processing requirements of IoT devices, and the vital requirement for energy-efficient algorithms. This survey also investigates the integration of steganography and cryptographic approaches, as well as advances in Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and quantum techniques that could revolutionize the field. The study ends with future research directions that underscore the importance of innovative steganographic techniques that strike a compromise between security, efficiency, and scalability in IoT applications. © 2013 IEEE.
