Maximizing Entanglement Routing Rate in Quantum Networks: Approximation Algorithms

There will be a fast-paced shift from conventional network systems to novel quantum networks that are supported by the quantum entanglement and teleportation, key technologies of the quantum era, to enable secured data transmissions in the next-generation of the Internet. Despite this prospect, migration to quantum networks cannot happen all at once, especially when it comes to quantum routing. In this paper, we focus on the maximizing entanglement routing rate (MERR) problem, which aims to determine entangled routing paths for the maximum number of demands in the quantum network while meeting the network's fidelity. To tackle this problem, we first formulate the MERR problem using an integer linear programming (ILP) model. We then leverage the method of linear programming relaxation to devise two efficient algorithms, including the half-based rounding algorithm (HBRA) and the randomized rounding algorithm (RRA) with a provable approximation ratio for the objective function. Furthermore, to address the challenge of the combinatorial optimization problem in big scale networks, we also propose the path-length-based approach (PLBA) to solve the MERR problem. Finally, we evaluate the performance of our algorithms and show up the success of maximizing the entanglement routing rate. © 2013 IEEE.

Background: Due to their complexity and size, deploying ciphertexts for clouds is considered the most useful approach to accessing large data stores. Methods: However, access to a user's access legitimacy and improving a decrypted text on the cloud depending on an improved access policy (AP) specified by the data owner are the key challenges for making large data storage realistic and effective in clouds. The traditional ways either totally remove the problem of AP development or offer renewal to arbiter power, but in real-time, enhancing the AP is essential to maximising security and handling agility. Results: In this patent paper, a safe and verifiable access control program characterised by the NTRU cryptographic system for large storage of data in the clouds is proposed. Primarily, an improved NTRU decryption protocol to deal with the decryption failures of the prime NTRU is established, and in addition, the program is analysed for its security strength and computational performance. When a new AP is specified by the data owner, the cloud server allows the program to improve ciphertext and allows the owner to verify the upgrade to oppose the cloud's fraudulent behaviour. Conclusion: It enables (i) checking the user's legitimacy to access the data owner and qualified users, and (ii) allowing the user to verify the data provided by other users for the recovery of the right user. Strong analysis can prevent and block delinquency from various attacks, namely the collusion attack that could potentially target fraud users. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.

In response to the escalating demand for electricity, the aging process and inherent failures in power lines have become unavoidable challenges in their operational integrity. This research addresses the imperative need for a robust method to detect damage in power insulator disc images, introducing a novel feature extraction technique grounded in color intensity profile transformation and ensemble learning. For the purposes of the research, a specific dataset was developed based on publicly available images of power insulators. The collection consists of 9232 images of insulator discs which included 2184 images of damaged discs. The discernible damages include breakages and burnouts. Two distinct analysis variants were employed. In the first variant (V1), two classification groups were selected: disc with damages and disc without damages. In the second variant (V2), three classification groups were selected: discs without damage, broken discs, and burnout discs. The described research was divided into two successive stages. In the first of them (S1), the transformed color intensity profiles for the prepared data set were built and various machine learning models for their classification were trained and evaluated. In the next stage (S2), previously developed, highest efficient machine learning models, were used to make the detection of various damaged types of overhead line insulator discs. For the first stage of research high-performance results and a high value of the F1 score parameters were obtained (F1 score = 0.999 for the first variant (S1V1) and F1 score = 0.992 for the second variant (S1V2). With the rapid development of intelligent transportation systems and growing emphasis on driver safety, real-time detection of driver drowsiness has become a critical area of research. This study presents a robust and scalable driver drowsiness detection framework that integrates a Swin Transformer-based deep learning model with a diffusion model for image denoising. While conventional convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are effective in standard vision tasks, they often suffer performance degradation in real-world driving scenarios due to noise, poor lighting, motion blur, and adversarial attacks. To address these challenges, the proposed model focuses on eye-state detection, specifically, prolonged eye closure, as a primary indicator of driver disengagement and fatigue. Our system introduces a novel preprocessing stage using a denoising diffusion model built on a U-Net encoder-decoder architecture, effectively mitigating the impact of Gaussian noise and adversarial perturbations. Additionally, we incorporate adversarial training with Fast Gradient Sign Method (FGSM) and Projected Gradient Descent (PGD) attacks, demonstrating significant improvements in classification accuracy and resilience. Evaluations are conducted on two benchmark datasets, Eye-Blink and Closed Eyes in the Wild (CEW), under both clean and noisy conditions. Comparative experiments show that the proposed system outperforms several state-of-the-art models, including ViT, ResNet50V2, InceptionV3, MobileNet, DenseNet169, and VGG19, in terms of accuracy (up to 99.82%), PSNR (up to 41.61 dB), and SSIM (up to 0.984), while maintaining competitive inference times suitable for practical deployment. Moreover, a detailed sensitivity analysis of data augmentation strategies reveals that techniques such as rotation and horizontal flip substantially enhance the model’s generalization across variable visual inputs. Machine Translation Performance for Low-Resource Languages: A Systematic Literature Review

Machine translation (MT) for low-resource languages continues to face significant challenges because of limited digital resources and parallel corpora, despite remarkable developments in neural machine translation (NMT). Addressing these challenges requires a thorough review of existing research to identify effective strategies and methods. To achieve this, a systematic literature review (SLR) is conducted following PRISMA guidelines and systematically analysing studies published in various academic databases in the last five years (between 2020 and 2024). A total of 69 relevant articles were examined to evaluate the performance of MT, explore persistent challenges and assess the effectiveness of proposed or used solutions. The analysis shows that while NMT has emerged as the predominant approach, its effectiveness is often reduced by the scarcity of training data and the structural complexity of low-resource languages. Strategies such as active learning, data augmentation, multilingual models and transfer learning are identified as critical for improving translation performance. Additionally, emerging research trends, including data pre-processing, optimization of decoder and rule-based approach demonstrate promising directions for addressing existing limitations. In terms of evaluation, most of the studies used Character n-gram F-score (ChrF), Translation Edit Rate (TER), Metric for Evaluation of Translation with Explicit Ordering (METEOR), Word Error Rate (WER) and Bilingual Evaluation Underscore (BLEU) as techniques’ validation metrics. This review provides a detailed evaluation of the current state of MT for low-resource languages and emphasizes the need for further research into underrepresented languages and the development of comprehensive datasets. © 2013 IEEE.

Healthcare Industry 5.0 has witnessed a transformative change by incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet-of-things (IoT), and genomics to provide individualized and patient-centered healthcare. It prioritizes comprehensive health, proactive strategies for chronic diseases like tumors, cancer, etc., and effective cooperation among participants. Much work has been done for cancer prediction using machine learning and deep learning approaches. However, it has yet to be fully explored to protect data privacy and security by limiting data sharing. So, this paper proposes a Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)-based Cancer Prediction scheme, i.e., CNN-CPS within the context of Healthcare Industry 5.0. The proposed scheme harnesses the capabilities of 5G-assisted Federated Learning (FL), a revolutionary method for predicting cancer occurrences with data privacy, security, and limiting data sharing. Then, it also leverages model data from dispersed systems to boost efficiency. By capitalizing on the speed and efficiency of 5G networks and the collaborative nature of FL, precise cancer predictions can be attained, all while upholding the confidentiality of sensitive data. This integration of technologies has the potential to significantly reshape cancer diagnosis and therapeutic approaches in the Industry 5.0 landscape. Here, 5G can enable real-time data interchange across remote data centers with rapid transmission of data capabilities and low-latency connectivity, enabling more effective and precise model training. Hence, this study examines the FL to predict breast cancer and combines the optimizer weights from several clients to continually enhance the performance of the overall model. The experimental results show the efficacy of the CNN-CPS compared to the existing approaches based on several parameters like low latency (40.77% improvement), accuracy (75%), and loss (0.54). © 2025 The Authors

Topology-adaptive Bayesian optimization for deep ring echo state networks in speech emotion recognition

Speech emotion recognition is a difficult task that is gaining attention in a variety of domains, including psychology, human–computer interaction, and speech processing. To recognize speech emotions, machine learning techniques such as convolutional neural networks and long short-term memory networks have been successfully used. However, these models often fail to capture the long-term temporal dynamics of emotional speech. In this work, data augmentation was performed on all datasets. The generated result was used to extract the discriminant features. Then we apply a deep echo state network with a ring topology. The Bayesian optimization (BO) algorithm was applied to the spectral radius of the reservoir matrix. Our approach reveals term-weighted and unweighted accuracies of (75.45%, 74.79%), (86.89%, 86.14%), (98.99%, 97.62%), and (62%, 61.24%) on EMO-DB, SAVEE, RAVDESS, and TESS datasets. The findings demonstrate that by using BO, we are able to determine an optimal spectral radius. Therefore, this approach balances the minimal complexity of reservoir design and high emotion recognition accuracy. Notably, we demonstrate that a simple, deterministically constructed cycle reservoir within DRESN is comparable to other methodologies. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Drones are essential for civil engineering operations like logistics and data collecting. Current autonomous drone studies mainly concerns itself with safe path planning in static scenarios;however one of the major challenges of over urban environment is often dynamic factors such as wind, building layouts, and signal coverage that can significantly impact direction stability. For autonomous navigation across dynamic wind zones, this study proposed a new Shape-aware Mesh Dual Lightweight Deep Convolutional Multi-Relational Graph Attention Network with Growth Optimizer (SAMDLDCMRGANet-GO) that leverages local data from RGB cameras and GPS. The method incorporates a Dual Aggregation Transformer for feature extraction, Shape-aware Mesh Normal Filtering for preprocessing, and the LDCMRGAN et for efficient path planning. The proposed approach demonstrates its efficacy in navigating complicated surroundings while retaining high precision in obstacle avoidance and target acquisition, achieving an impressive 99.14% recall, 99.15% accuracy, an outstanding EVA of 0.99, and a low RMSE of 0.41. © 2025 IEEE.

Dempster-shafer deep capsule attention model (DDCAM)

A capsule neural network faces significant challenges in achieving high accuracy on complex datasets due to its high computational complexity and limited ability to represent features. To overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a novel framework, Dempster-Shafer Deep Capsule Attention Model (DDCAM), that combines 3D convolution with attention mechanisms to improve feature representation. This model utilizes the Dempster-Shafer Theory to manage uncertainty and optimize feature selection, resulting in more reliable and accurate learning. In this architecture, dense capsule blocks are used to improve gradient flow and mitigate the effects of vanishing gradients. The DDCAM consistently outperforms state-of-the-art capsule networks on a wide range of datasets, especially complex datasets such as MNIST, CIFAR10, SVHN, and Fashion MNIST. DDCAM improves accuracy by 1.29% on CIFAR10 and 0.76% on SVHN compared to existing models, while achieving precision improvements of 1.22% and 1.08% on CIFAR10 and SVHN, respectively. Additionally, experiments conducted on the AffNIST dataset demonstrate the robustness of DDCAM in handling affine transformations, where it achieved significantly higher accuracy compared to existing models. These results illustrate the model’s enhanced ability to capture complex data relationships and improve both accuracy and precision, advancing capsule neural network performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Enhanced Position-Aided Beam Prediction Using Real-World Data and Enhanced-Convolutional Neural Networks

Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication systems utilize narrow beamforming to ensure adequate signal power. However, beam alignment requires significant training overhead, especially in high-mobility scenarios. Previous research has utilized synthetic data for position-aided beam prediction, which does not fully capture real-world complexities. In this work, an Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network model (E-CNN) is proposed for optimal prediction of beam indices with the aid of real-world GPS position data. The proposed E-CNN model has been investigated across nine different scenarios from the DeepSense 6G dataset and compared against the conventional algorithms. For 64-beams Scenario 1, the E-CNN model showed an increase in average top-1 accuracy from 55.57% to 63.92%, and in case of 32-beams, the accuracy increased from 71.34 % to 82.06%. For 16-beams, the accuracy increased from 86.17% to 94.64 %, while for 8-beams, the accuracy increased from 90.24% to 97.11%. In addition, besides showing significant power loss reduction in various scenarios, the proposed E-CNN model has demonstrated robustness regarding real-word conditions and adaptability for various beam setups. The model realized as high as a 50% power loss reduction in arguably the most challenging graphs, which is an exercise in reliability. This research fills the existing gap between the simulated aid beam alignment and real-world position beam aided alignment, which can be useful in improving beamforming in the upcoming wireless networks. © 2013 IEEE.
