Recently monkeypox outbreak has raised concerns due to its increasing number of cases and diverse dermatological symptoms in 2024, which can complicate early diagnosis due to similarities with other viral infections such as measles and chickenpox. To enhance diagnostic accuracy, transfer learning models and artificial intelligence (AI) have been explored as effective tools. Pre-trained models such as VGG16, VGG19, ResNet50V2, and MobileNetV2 have been employed for monkeypox detection, each with distinct trade-offs in terms of computational efficiency and diagnostic precision. MobileNetV2 offers superior efficiency, but this comes at the cost of reduced accuracy. VGG models provide higher accuracy but require much more computational *** these models, DenseNet121 stands out by achieving 99% accuracy while requiring 37% less computational power, making it the model optimized choice for efficient and accurate monkeypox classification. © 2025 IEEE.

Enhancing Skin Disease Diagnosis: Light GBM-DMS Algorithm for Accurate Image Classification

Globally, skin diseases are emerging as the most common health problem. It initiates depressive disorder, and it also causes physical health distress. It rarely led to skin cancer in extreme cases. Diagnosing skin disease is subjective and time-consuming when it is performed by health experts manually. Hence, automatic skin disease prediction is required by both dermatologists and patients to enhance and accelerate treatment plans. Even though many machine-learning techniques are available to detect skin diseases, the timely prediction and accurate classification of skin lesions are still in demand. Hence, the Discrete Mycorrhizal Search Algorithm is used to optimize the novel LightGBM to meet this objective. Firstly, intrusions like noise elimination and hair removal are performed and then the image resizing takes place by utilizing the preprocessing pipelines. Subsequent to data pre-processing, the prime features are extracted using the convolutional self-attention based L2 regularization, thus minimizing the data complexity. At last, the extracted features are shifted to the final categorization phase which is done by the novel approach for effective classification of skin diseases. Two skin disease classification images, including datasets, the Skin Lesions Dermatoscopic Image dataset and Skin Cancer MNIST HAM10000, are selected to validate the classification performance. Comprehensive analyses are performed with significant measures that showed the proposed model attained better performances of 98.6%, 0.95, and 10.43 s from accuracy, intersection of union, and execution time, respectively. The stability and robustness under different environmental conditions for clinical applications in skin disease detection and classification tasks are analyzed for making decisions in real-time scenarios. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

IDBNWP: Improved deep belief network for workload prediction: Hybrid optimization for load balancing in cloud system

The achievement of cloud environment is determined by the efficiency of its load balancing with proper allocation of resources. The proactive forecasting of future workload, accompanied by the allocation of resources, has emerged as a primary method for addressing other inbuilt problems, such as the underneath or over utilization of physical machines, resource wastage, VM migration, Quality-of-Services (QoS) violations, load balancing, and so on. In this paper, we have introduced a novel workload prediction and load balancing approach which includes two major phases like workload prediction with deep learning and optimal load balancing. In the initial workload prediction stage, we have proposed an Improved Deep Belief Network (IDBN), which efficiently predict the load as under load, overload or equally balanced. Afterwards, the load gets balanced by the utilization of the hybrid optimization named Bald Eagle Assisted Butterfly Optimization Algorithm (BEABOA), which consider the constraints like makespan (70), communication cost (4000), response time (1.1), turnaround time (2), migration cost (0.1) during the process of optimal load balancing. A New Method for Stealthy False data Injection Attack Detection Using Advanced Feasibility Areas Considering Spatial Distribution

The Feasibility Area (FA) in power system applications defines the region within which Power System State Variables (PSSVs) typically exist under normal operating conditions. Accurate characterization of the FA helps enhancing optimal power flow, detecting anomalies, and identifying stealthy False data Injection Attacks (FDIAs). Traditional FA-based approaches assess the location of PSSVs based on discrete time instances, using a binary flag to indicate whether the PSSVs lie inside or outside the FA. This paper introduces an advanced FA-based stealthy FDIAs detection method that improves upon this by incorporating the spatial distribution of PSSVs relative to the estimated FA. Unlike conventional methods, the advanced FA incorporates spatial distribution to evaluate the proximity of the current PSSV to the expected FA in the complex plane. A sigmoid-expansion flag is employed to represent the probability of the current PSSVs belonging to the expected FA, replacing the conventional binary flag. This sigmoid-expansion flag is then used as an input to a Deep Neural Network (DNN), where both the sigmoid-expansion flag and DNN model parameters are fine-tuned during training to ensure optimal compatibility, thereby improving detection accuracy. The proposed method significantly improves the detection of stealthy FDIAs, offering superior performance over traditional FA. Additionally, it enables the extraction of key attack characteristics, such as type, nature, and magnitude, further strengthening the system’s defense capabilities. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Adaptive pelican optimization with optimized mask RCNN for automatic lung cancer detection

Lung cancer is a prevalent and deadly disease worldwide, necessitating accurate and timely detection methods for effective treatment. Deep learning-based approaches have emerged as promising solutions for automated medical image analysis. This study proposes an enhanced Mask R-CNN framework tailored specifically for the automatic detection and severity analysis of lung cancer from CT images. The proposed approach consists of three stages namely, pre-processing, lung nodule detection, and segmentation using enhanced Mask R-CNN and severity analysis. Our framework employs a deep convolutional neural network architecture trained on a comprehensive dataset of annotated lung images. By incorporating a region-based convolutional neural network (R-CNN) with a mask prediction branch, our model accurately localizes lung tumors while providing precise pixel-level segmentation masks. To enhance the performance of mask RCNN, the parameter present in the classifier is optimally selected using the adaptive pelican optimization (APO) algorithm. The proposed framework detects lung tumors and provides a comprehensive severity analysis, enabling clinicians to assess cancer stage and progression accurately. Evaluation on a benchmark dataset demonstrates superior detection accuracy and robustness compared to existing methods. Our enhanced Mask R-CNN approach shows promise as a valuable tool for early diagnosis and severity assessment of lung cancer, potentially improving patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Cancers have emerged as a significant concern due to their impact on public health and society. The examination and interpretation of tissue sections stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) play a crucial role in disease assessment, particularly in cases like gastric cancer. Microsatellite instability (MSI) is suggested to contribute to the carcinogenesis of specific gastrointestinal tumors. However, due to the nonspecific morphology observed in H&E-stained tissue sections, MSI determination often requires costly evaluations through various molecular studies and immunohistochemistry methods in specialized molecular pathology laboratories. Despite the high cost, international guidelines recommend MSI testing for gastrointestinal cancers. Thus, there is a pressing need for a new diagnostic modality with lower costs and widespread applicability for MSI detection. This study aims to detect MSI directly from H&E histology slides in gastric cancer, providing a cost-effective alternative. The performance of well-known deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and a proposed architecture are compared. Medical image datasets are typically smaller than benchmark datasets like ImageNet, necessitating the use of off-the-shelf DCNN architectures developed for large datasets through techniques such as transfer learning. Designing an architecture proportional to a custom dataset can be tedious and may not yield desirable results. In this work, we propose an automatic method to extract a lightweight and efficient architecture from a given heavy architecture (e.g., well-known off-the-shelf DCNNs) proportional to a specific dataset. To predict MSI instability, we extracted the MicroNet architecture from the Xception network using the proposed method and compared its performance with other well-known architectures. Chronic diseases like chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, heart disease (HD) and cancer are the important causes of mortality globally. The diagnosis of Heart-related diseases with a variety of symptoms or characteristics is incredibly complex. Internet of Things (loT) embedded solution has improved with the increase in smart wearable devices. However, people who undergo heart attacks unexpectedly have poor survival rates. As a result, an Internet of Things based Multi-Perceptron Q-Network (MQN)-based monitoring program is suggested for cardiac patients to assist in identifying heart disease and administering medication appropriately. The technology based on MQN is used to securely encrypt this sensor data before sending it to the cloud. The encrypted and decrypted data is eventually done and MQN classifier is used to complete the classification process. The two categories of data that make up the classified outcomes are i) regular and ii) irregular. It indicates the individual's cardiac status, and if the results are peculiar, the doctor is notified via text so that the patient can receive treatment. When compared to current algorithms, the MQN for HD diagnosis exhibits better enhancement in the estimated investigational results. Furthermore, when contrasted against the current MQN, the introduced Multi-layered Perceptron (MLP) system facilitates safe data transmission yields the maximum security level of 96%, and is accomplished in the shortest amount of time for both decryption and encryption. © 2025 IEEE.

Dynamic Hand Gesture-Based Person Identification Using Leap Motion and Machine Learning Approaches

Person identification is one of the most vital tasks for network security. People are more concerned about theirsecurity due to traditional passwords becoming weaker or leaking in various attacks. In recent decades, fingerprintsand faces have been widely used for person identification, which has the risk of information leakage as a resultof reproducing fingers or faces by taking a snapshot. Recently, people have focused on creating an identifiablepattern, which will not be reproducible falsely by capturing psychological and behavioral information of a personusing vision and sensor-based techniques. In existing studies, most of the researchers used very complex patternsin this direction, which need special training and attention to remember the patterns and failed to capturethe psychological and behavioral information of a person properly. To overcome these problems, this researchdevised a novel dynamic hand gesture-based person identification system using a Leap Motion sensor. Thisstudy developed two hand gesture-based pattern datasets for performing the experiments, which contained morethan 500 samples, collected from 25 subjects. Various static and dynamic features were extracted from the handgeometry. Randomforest was used to measure feature importance using the Gini Index. Finally, the support vectormachinewas implemented for person identification and evaluate its performance using identification accuracy. Theexperimental results showed that the proposed system produced an identification accuracy of 99.8% for arbitraryhand gesture-based patterns and 99.6% for the same dynamic hand gesture-based patterns. This result indicatedthat the proposed system can be used for person identification in the field of security.

A Privacy-Preserving data Aggregation Protocol for Internet of Vehicles with Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) is widely used in various fields because it can guarantee the privacy of the original data source. However, in data-sensitive fields such as Internet of Vehicles (IoV), insecure communication channels, semi-trusted RoadSide Unit (RSU), and collusion between vehicles and the RSU may lead to leakage of model parameters. Moreover, when aggregating data, since different vehicles usually have different computing resources, vehicles with relatively insufficient computing resources will affect the data aggregation efficiency. Therefore, in order to solve the privacy leakage problem and improve the data aggregation efficiency, this paper proposes a privacy-preserving data aggregation protocol for IoV with FL. Firstly, the protocol is designed based on methods such as shamir secret sharing scheme, pallier homomorphic encryption scheme and blinding factor protection, which can guarantee the privacy of model parameters. Secondly, the protocol improves the data aggregation efficiency by setting dynamic training time windows. Thirdly, the protocol reduces the frequent participations of Trusted Authority (TA) by optimizing the fault-tolerance mechanism. Finally, the security analysis proves that the proposed protocol is secure, and the performance analysis results also show that the proposed protocol has high computation and communication efficiency. A feature selection-aided deep learning based deepfake video detection method

The rapid advancements in deepfake technology are imposing significant challenges in detecting manipulated media contents. In this work, we have introduced a deepfake detection method that utilizes three pre-trained convolutional neural network models, namely DenseNet-121, EfficientNet-B0, and Xception to extract deep learning features from preprocessed extracted video frames. Next, these features are stacked to generate diverse feature representations, and thus end up with high-dimensional features. After that, a feature selection strategy is employed on the combined features to eliminate redundant and less effective features. The selected features are then fed into the K-nearest neighbors classifier to decide whether a questioned video is a fake video or not. Two widely used deepfake video datasets, namely FaceForensics++ and Celeb-DF (V2) are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed technique following two experimental setups: intra- and inter-datasets. The results show that the model achieves area under curve scores of 98.50% (85.70%) and 97.70% (79.00%) in the intra-dataset (inter-dataset) setups while trained on the FaceForensics++ and Celeb-DF (V2) datasets, respectively. The performance of the proposed model is comparable to that of state-of-the-art methods.
