The advancement of automated number plate recognition (ANPR) systems has garnered noteworthy attention in recent times owing to their diverse applications across multiple domains, including traffic management, parking management, and law enforcement. This paper presents an innovative ANPR method using OpenCV, an open-source computer vision library. Developing ANPR systems is a great fit for OpenCV since it offers a flexible platform for image processing and computer vision tasks. The suggested method effectively detects and recognizes number plates from images and video streams by utilizing OpenCV's capabilities for feature extraction, image preprocessing, and machine learning. Character segmentation, optical character recognitlon (OCR), and licence plate localization are important stages in the process. The ANPR system's accuracy and effectiveness are increased by using these strategies. A variety of real-world datasets, including different lighting conditions, camera angles, and vehicle types, are used in extensive experiments to assess the system's performance. The outcomes show how well the OpenCV-based ANPR system performs in tasks requiring license plate recognition, attaining high accuracy and resilience. Additionally, covered in the paper are possible uses for the ANPR system in security systems, vehicle tracking, and traffic monitoring. To make sure the system is workable in a variety of situations, scalability and real-time implementation are also taken into account. © 2024 IEEE.

Event Management System Using Spatial and Event Attribute Information

The event management mechanism matches messages that have been subscribed to and events that have been published. To identify the subscriptions that correspond to the occurrence inside the category, it must first run a clustering operation on the subscription message data and determine the category to which the event belongs. In this work, we offer an on-the-fly publish-subscribe technique that can handle on-the-fly subscription changes and category modifications in a distributed environment, as well as the synchronization of spatial information and event attribute information. Additionally, without any prior information, clustering and matching processes can be carried out rapidly. The publish-subscribe method is implemented on a distributed system, and a load-balancing solution is proposed for the algorithm on the distributed system. We then constructed our cluster and used real data to empirically evaluate the suggested publish-subscribe technique. Experiments show that incorporating both similarity and relevance with frequency, compared to focusing on similarity alone, significantly decreases the number of categories which need to be matched for events. This leads to a 15.5% improvement in the speed of matching events and subscriptions. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

NVS-GAN: Benefit of generative adversarial network on novel view synthesis

The methodology to generate new views for an object from provided input object view is called Novel View Synthesis (NVS). Humans imagine novel views through prior knowledge gathered through their lifetime. NVS-GAN predicts the novel views through computation. Literature survey reveals that there are limited NVS models with low Trainable Parameter Count (TPC) and low model size. Also, a study on the effect of different loss functions on NVS models was lacking. Lowering the TPC indicates less computational steps for the model to predict the output, therefore desirable. Combined with a low model size, the proposed model will become more suitable for deployment in diverse devices having limited resources for computation. Application of right combination of loss functions yield better accuracy. To address these research gaps, NVS-GAN is proposed. NVS-GAN is a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) approach which yields NVS-Generator which performs NVS. NVS-Generator incorporates identity skip connections, bilinear sampling module, Depthwise Separable Convolution (DSC) as design features and results in low TPC, model size. In addition to discriminator loss, NVS-GAN is trained with different combinations of loss functions i.e. Mean Absolute Error (MAE) loss, Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM) loss, Huber loss on chair and car objects of ShapeNet dataset. The performance of NVS-Generator on test set measured in terms of MAE and SSIM is tabulated and analysed. The performance is compared with existing NVS models. The proposed NVS-GAN experiment recorded reduction in NVS-Generator TPC in 37 %–54.6 % range and reduction in model size between 37.2 % and 47.6 % range. NVS-Generator reduced MAE upto 55 % and improved SSIM upto 4 % than existing models. Summarily, NVS-GAN increased model performance and made the model "lightweight". © 2024 The Authors

In today’s world, geo-positioning technologies, location-based services have attracted many researcher’s due to the increasing amount of spatio textual objects in various applications like social networks, geo location services. Each spatial object consists of spatial locations and a set of query terms. In this paper, an efficient group of query search for spatial keyword in text mining is proposed that retrieves both spatial and textual keyword objects to effectively reduce the search space. The clusters and subclusters are constructed based on the calculated range of the objects location and categories in the dataset. Further, categorylist is constructed that identifies the category of interest (CoI) of users query. Experiments are conducted on two real dataset namely Euro and geographic names. It is observed that GSKTM outperforms inverted linear quad-tree (ILQ) with improved response time and provides groupwise top-k results. Copyright © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Hand gesture recognition is a burgeoning area of study with wide-ranging applications, including human–computer interaction, sign language translation, and virtual reality control. In this work, we introduce an innovative lightweight DL model designed for robust HGR and provide an in-depth analysis of its classification performance. We meticulously evaluate key performance metrics such as precision, detection rate, Jaccard index, and false positive rate and compare these results with existing methodologies. Our proposed model stands out by surpassing the performance of current models. It exhibits higher accuracy rates during both training and validation, a substantially improved detection rate, and an almost perfect Jaccard index. Most impressively, our model achieves a remarkable false positive rate of zero, showcasing its exceptional reliability in distinguishing between positive and negative instances. These findings underscore the effectiveness of our approach in addressing challenges related to overlapping gestures, unbalanced class distributions, and precise HGR. In our conclusion, we identify areas for potential enhancement and further research. To clarify the novelty and research gap of our proposed model, we emphasise its lightweight nature and articulate how it differs from existing methods. This distinction lies in its capacity to deliver accurate and efficient HGR while imposing minimal computational burden, setting it apart from more resource-intensive approaches. In summary, our study and potential to revolutionise practical applications that demand dependable and effective hand gesture recognition systems, bridging existing gaps in the area. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In today’s world, epileptic seizures which is a chronic neurological disorder causes rapid disruptions to a person’s lifestyle. It is very common and the number of cases that involve patients that remain uncurable even after medication or surgery exceed than 30%. Predicting a seizure before it happens, however, can aid in preventing it. Screening techniques have been put forth to identify epileptic seizures utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and electroencephalography (EEG) modalities. Deep learning (DL) is one of the many subfields that make up artificial intelligence. An EEG is one of the primary methods used to diagnose epilepsy. Typically, a human specialist uses the multi-channel electroencephalogram to identify distinct patterns that indicate the presence of epileptic activity. Many attempts are made to automate this activity using both conventional and Deep Learning (DL) techniques because it is challenging and time-consuming. © 2025 the Author(s).

The management of plastic waste in our ecosystem represents a significant environmental issue, necessitating effective sorting and categorization to facilitate efficient recycling practices. This study introduces a methodology utilizing deep learning for the automated identification of plastic varieties through the application of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) framework. The proposed method of adopting a pre-trained VGG16 to extract the features and tailors them with special layers in order to classify into seven categories that include HDPE, LDPE, Other, PET, PP, PS, and PVC. data augmentation techniques were used to enhance the functionality of the model;image segmentation enhances object areas visibility. TensorFlow Lite was used to prepare the optimised model for its deployment to mobile platforms for real-time classifying different types of plastics on mobile devices. The optimization of mobile technology boosts the segregation of plastics at the origin, thereby allowing individuals to make informed choices in the recycling process and boosting recycling effectiveness through early differentiation. This approach generates great potential for alleviating environmental impacts through decentralized source-based plastic sorting and waste management. © 2025 IEEE.

Medicinal plants have been integral to traditional medicine, offering a wide range of health benefits and natural remedies. However, accurate identification is essential for safe use and the preservation of this valuable knowledge. This project proposes an AI-based system that combines EfficientNet and XGBoost models to enhance the accuracy of medicinal plant identification from images. While traditional systems rely on manual identification or basic models like CNN and SVM, they often fail to account for variations in plant appearance due to growth stages or environmental conditions. To address these limitations, the proposed system leverages EfficientNet for robust feature extraction from plant images, utilizing its superior ability to handle image variations across diverse conditions. These features are then passed to an XGBoost classifier, which excels in handling structured data and fine-tuning predictions. Together, this combination ensures high identification accuracy across a wide variety of plant species. Additionally, the system integrates a Hugging Face Transformer for natural language understanding and generation, allowing it to provide comprehensive information about each plant's medicinal properties and uses. This approach bridges the gap between accurate identification and practical application, promoting safe usage and preserving traditional medicinal knowledge. © 2025 IEEE.

Pandemic bringing a change in the medical system and medical infrastructure. This requires a complete revamping of medical data collections and storage. In such a scenario there has to be a system which enables the efficient transport of a patient to a distant hospital with minimal human support. In such a remote telehealth service, the inclusion of a system which is capable of sending and receiving medical data like live image of patients, X-Rays and multimedia images would result in better and fast pre-hospitalization. In such an emergency situation, the information has to be exchanged between the ambulance and the doctor in the least time possible. An efficient image compression algorithm will ensure the faster communication. The proposed framework is a combination of mobile application an interactive OpenTok API, cloud based platform Heroku and Firebase. The proposed system ensures a dedicated high speed data sharing environment based on cloud and mobile API to make an interactive framework for Healthcare Industry. © 2024 The Author(s).

This paper presents our system for generating counter-speech (CN) in response to hate speech (HS), developed for the COLING 2025 shared task. We employ lightweight transformer-based models, DistilBART and T5-small, optimized for computational efficiency while maintaining competitive performance. Through comprehensive dataset analysis, we identify linguistic patterns, explore challenges, and propose enhancements. Our findings demonstrate the viability of lightweight models and highlight error patterns that can guide future research directions. We provide a detailed evaluation of results across multiple metrics, including BLEU, ROUGE, and BERTScore, and discuss strategies for enhancing contextual relevance in CNs. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics
