Generative AI-Driven Incentive Mechanism for Semantic Communications in RSMA Networks

This paper proposes a framework integrating Rate Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA), semantic communications, and generative AI for optimizing next-generation wireless networks. We present a unified model that combines RSMA with semantic communications to enhance both spectral efficiency and semantic fidelity. Our system model focuses on a downlink semantic communication system with a multi-antenna base station serving multiple single-antenna users. A dynamic contract-based incentive mechanism is developed to address user heterogeneity and information asymmetry in semantic RSMA scenarios. We introduce a diffusion model-based approach for joint optimization of resource allocation and contract design in RSMA systems. The semantic encoding process extracts key information, i.e., free-space detection, interest points, object attributes, and spatial relationships, from image data. A loss function is designed to train the semantic encoder and RSMA scheme, incorporating semantic extraction, partitioning, reconstruction, and task specific components. Our framework includes a multi-objective performance evaluation that considers both conventional metrics and semantic accuracy in a multi-user RSMA environment. We also define a multi-component semantic accuracy metric to assess the quality and utility of the extracted semantic information. Extensive simulation results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed framework over existing approaches in terms of system throughput, energy efficiency, and semantic fidelity across various network scenarios and user distributions. © 2015 IEEE.

Finding a barrier-free accessible path through the built environment is necessary for wheelchair users. Researchers have identified the effect of surface vibration on the health of wheelchair users and proposed various solutions to identify and annotate mobility barriers. However, the effects of surface-induced vibration on accessibility are yet to be investigated. In order to address this problem, we present the WheelShare system, which uses machine learning to identify surfaces and curbs from vibration captured by accelerometer and gyroscope sensors (both smartphone and wearable device). WheelShare allows users to share their collected data via crowdsourcing. Based on this surface-specific vibration, we recognize 32 different surfaces found across the built environment (in Austria, China, France, Germany, India, and the USA for 32 human subjects) with an accuracy of 97.5%. The recognized surfaces are then grouped into different categories based on their characteristics. Our novel contributions in this article include the following. 1) We have developed a machine-learning-enabled surface recognition system that uses sensor data to capture surface-induced vibration patterns. 2) We have tested the robustness of the system for devices with only accelerometer data (such as low-end smartphones) and achieved an accuracy of 91.6%. 3) We have deployed our prototype WheelShare system for real-time surface classification in new sites that are unseen in training and testing and successfully recognized the surface characteristics. © 2020 IEEE.

Recent trends in Network Function Virtualization (NFV) combined with Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G applications have reshaped the network service offering. In particular, Service Function Chains (SFCs) can associate network functions with physical and virtual resources towards providing a complete network service. Concurrently, the management of a continuously expanding network and the fulfillment of the applications' requirements pave the way for autonomic network solutions. Intent Based Networking (IBN) is a novel paradigm that aims to achieve the automatic orchestration of network services and the assurance of their performance. Accordingly, in this paper, we propose a novel automated network assurance model, based on Model Predictive Control, to guarantee the Quality of Service (QoS) and security requirements of multi-tenant and IBN-enabled SFCs. In this context, corrective decisions are proactively taken, in the form of incoming intent relocations among the SFCs. The results reveal that our model can assure with high probability the application requirements and minimize QoS violations. © 2023 IEEE.

Automatic person identification (API) using human biometrics is essential and highly demanded compared to traditional API methods, where a person is automatically identified using his/her distinct characteristics including speech, fingerprint, iris, handwritten signatures, and others. The fusion of more than one human biometric produces bimodal and multimodal API systems that normally outperform single modality systems. This paper presents our work towards fusing speech and handwritten signatures for developing a bimodal API system, where fusion was conducted at the decision level due to the differences in the type and format of the features extracted. A data set is created that contains recordings of usernames and handwritten signatures of 100 persons (50 males and 50 females), where each person recorded his/her username 30 times and provided his/her handwritten signature 30 times. Consequently, a total of 3000 utterances and 3000 handwritten signatures were collected. The speech API used Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) technique for features extraction and Vector Quantization (VQ) for features training and classification. On the other hand, the handwritten signatures API used global features for reflecting the structure of the hand signature image such as image area, pure height, pure width and signature height and the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) architecture of Artificial Neural Network for features training and classification. Once the best matches for both the speech and the handwritten signatures API are produced, the fusion process takes place at decision level. It computes the difference between the two best matches for each modality and selects the modality of the maximum difference. Based on our experimental results, the bimodal API obtained an average recognition rate of 96.40%, whereas the speech API and the handwritten signatures API obtained average recognition rates of 92.60% and 75.20%, respectively. Formal analysis to ensure adherence of software to defined architectural constraints is not yet broadly used within software development, due to the effort involved in defining formal architecture models. Within this paper, we outline neural architecture inference to solve the problem of having a formal architecture definition for subsequent symbolic reasoning over these architectures, enabling neurosymbolic architectural reasoning. We discuss how this approach works in general and outline a research agenda based on six general research question that need to be addressed, to achieve this vision.

In this paper, we develop theoretical foundations for bidirectional bounded-suboptimal search (BiBSS) based on recent advancements in optimal bidirectional search. In addition, we introduce a BiBSS variant of the prominent meet-in-the-middle (MM) algorithm, called Weighted MM (WMM). Facial expression recognition(FER)remains a hot research area among computer vision researchers and still becomes a challenge because of high intraclass *** techniques for this problem depend on hand-crafted features,namely,LBP,SIFT,and HOG,along with that a classifier trained on a database of videos or *** execute perform well on image datasets captured in a controlled condition;however not perform well in the more challenging dataset,which has partial faces and image ***,many studies presented an endwise structure for facial expression recognition by utilizing DL ***,this study develops an earthworm optimization with an improved SqueezeNet-based FER(EWOISN-FER)*** presented EWOISN-FER model primarily applies the contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization(CLAHE)technique as a pre-processing *** addition,the improved SqueezeNet model is exploited to derive an optimal set of feature vectors,and the hyperparameter tuning process is performed by the stochastic gradient boosting(SGB)***,EWO with sparse autoencoder(SAE)is employed for the FER process,and the EWO algorithm appropriately chooses the SAE ***-ranging experimental analysis is carried out to examine the performance of the proposed *** experimental outcomes indicate the supremacy of the presented EWOISN-FER technique.
