A Hybrid Framework Combining Rule-Based and Deep Learning Approaches for Data-Driven Verdict Recommendations

As legal cases grow in complexity and volume worldwide,integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence into judicial systems has become a pivotal research *** study introduces a comprehensive framework for verdict recommendation that synergizes rule-based methods with deep learning techniques specifically tailored to the legal *** proposed framework comprises three core modules:legal feature extraction,semantic similarity assessment,and verdict *** legal feature extraction,a rule-based approach leverages Black’s Law Dictionary and WordNet Synsets to construct feature vectors from judicial *** similarity between cases is evaluated using a hybrid method that combines rule-based logic with an LSTM model,analyzing the feature vectors of query cases against a legal knowledge *** are then recommended through a rule-based retrieval system,enhanced by predefined legal statutes and *** merging rule-based methodologies with deep learning,this framework addresses the interpretability challenges often associated with contemporary AImodels,thereby enhancing both transparency and generalizability across diverse legal *** system was rigorously tested using a legal corpus of 43,000 case laws across six categories:Criminal,Revenue,Service,Corporate,Constitutional,and Civil law,ensuring its adaptability across a wide range of judicial *** evaluation showed that the feature extraction module achieved an average accuracy of 91.6%with an F-Score of 95%.The semantic similarity module,tested using Manhattan,Euclidean,and Cosine distance metrics,achieved 88%accuracy and a 93%F-Score for short queries(Manhattan),89%accuracy and a 93.7%F-Score for medium-length queries(Euclidean),and 87%accuracy with a 92.5%F-Score for longer queries(Cosine).The verdict recommendation module outperformed existing methods,achieving 90%accuracy and a 93.75%*** study highlights the potential of hybrid AI fr

Optimizing Image Retrieval in Cloud Servers with TN-AGW: A Secure and Efficient Approach

The increasing use of cloud-based image storage and retrieval systems has made ensuring security and efficiency crucial. The security enhancement of image retrieval and image archival in cloud computing has received considerable attention in transmitting data and ensuring data confidentiality among cloud servers and users. Various traditional image retrieval techniques regarding security have developed in recent years but they do not apply to large-scale environments. This paper introduces a new approach called Triple network-based adaptive grey wolf (TN-AGW) to address these challenges. The TN-AGW framework combines the adaptability of the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm with the resilience of Triple Network (TN) to enhance image retrieval in cloud servers while maintaining robust security measures. By using adaptive mechanisms, TN-AGW dynamically adjusts its parameters to improve the efficiency of image retrieval processes, reducing latency and utilization of resources. However, the image retrieval process is efficiently performed by a triple network and the parameters employed in the network are optimized by Adaptive Grey Wolf (AGW) optimization. Imputation of missing values, Min–Max normalization, and Z-score standardization processes are used to preprocess the images. The image extraction process is undertaken by a modified convolutional neural network (MCNN) approach. Moreover, input images are taken from datasets such as the Landsat 8 dataset and the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) dataset is employed for image retrieval. Further, the performance such as accuracy, precision, recall, specificity, F1-score, and false alarm rate (FAR) is evaluated, the value of accuracy reaches 98.1%, the precision of 97.2%, recall of 96.1%, and specificity of 917.2% respectively. Best low-cost methods for real-time detection of the eye and gaze tracking

The study of gaze tracking is a significant research area in computer vision. It focuses on real-world applications and the interface between humans and computers. Recently, new eye-tracking applications have boosted the need for low-cost methods. The eye region is a crucial aspect of tracking the direction of the gaze. In this paper, several new methods have been proposed for eye-tracking by using methods to determine the eye area as well as find the direction of gaze. Unmodified webcams can be used for eye-tracking without the need for specialized equipment or software. Two methods for determining the eye region were used: facial landmarks or the Haar cascade technique. Moreover, the direct method, based on the convolutional neural network model, and the engineering method, based on distances determining the iris region, were used to determine the eye’s direction. The paper uses two engineering techniques: drawing perpendicular lines on the iris region to identify the gaze direction junction point and dividing the eye region into five regions, with the blackest region representing the gaze direction. The proposed network model has proven effective in determining the eye’s gaze direction within limited mobility, while engineering methods improve their effectiveness in wide mobility. © 2023 the author(s), published by De Gruyter.

A Novel Reliable and Trust Objective Function for RPL-Based IoT Routing Protocol

The Internet of Things (IoT) integrates diverse devices into the Internet infrastructure, including sensors, meters, and wearable devices. Designing efficient IoT networks with these heterogeneous devices requires the selection of appropriate routing protocols, which is crucial for maintaining high Quality of Service (QoS). The Internet Engineering Task Force’s Routing Over Low Power and Lossy Networks (IETF ROLL) working group developed the IPv6 Routing Protocol for Low Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) to meet these needs. While the initial RPL standard focused on single-metric route selection, ongoing research explores enhancing RPL by incorporating multiple routing metrics and developing new Objective Functions (OFs). This paper introduces a novel Objective Function (OF), the Reliable and Secure Objective Function (RSOF), designed to enhance the reliability and trustworthiness of parent selection at both the node and link levels within IoT and RPL routing protocols. The RSOF employs an adaptive parent node selection mechanism that incorporates multiple metrics, including Residual Energy (RE), Expected Transmission Count (ETX), Extended RPL Node Trustworthiness (ERNT), and a novel metric that measures node failure rate (NFR). In this mechanism, nodes with a high NFR are excluded from the parent selection process to improve network reliability and stability. The proposed RSOF was evaluated using random and grid topologies in the Cooja Simulator, with tests conducted across small, medium, and large-scale networks to examine the impact of varying node densities. The simulation results indicate a significant improvement in network performance, particularly in terms of average latency, packet acknowledgment ratio (PAR), packet delivery ratio (PDR), and Control Message Overhead (CMO), compared to the standard Minimum Rank with Hysteresis Objective Function (MRHOF).

5G wireless communication offers higher channel capacity, high data rate, sufficient bandwidth, enhanced coverage, and reliable link as compared to the previous generation mobile networks. Also, 5G becomes more relevant with the recent launches of low earth orbit satellites by various ventures like starlink, amazon, one web, etc. As these satellites have heights up to the range from 300 km to 1000 km, the free space path loss decreases drastically which in turn improves the signal reliability and efficient communication at dead spots. With these advancements, antenna researchers have the freedom to design compact, easy to manufacture, with adequate gain user equipment terminal antennas which can be easily integrated in the modern passenger car body. This paper will focus on the recent development in the design considerations of the compact antenna design at sub-6 GHz (n78 frequency band) and mm wave (n278 frequency band) according to 3gpp standards. This manuscript also discusses various design specifications like selection of material for antennas, design complexity, feeding methods, fabrication and measurement challenges and performance parameters which include reflection coefficient, gain, polarization, axial ratio, cross polarization discrimination, radiation efficiency, radiation pattern shape, etc. The proposed antenna design considerations will facilitate the possible integration into the various parts of the car body according to the recent vehicular applications for uninterrupted communication. © 2024, Electromagnetics Academy. Smart edge segmentation and localization method for building detection in satellite imagery

The rapid advancements in satellite imaging technology have brought about an unprecedented influx of high-resolution satellite imagery. One of the critical tasks in this domain is the automated detection of buildings within satellite imagery. Building detection holds substantial significance for urban planning, disaster management, environmental monitoring, and various other applications. The challenges in this field are manifold, including variations in building sizes, shapes, orientations, and surrounding environments. Furthermore, satellite imagery often contains occlusions, shadows, and other artifacts that can hinder accurate building detection. The proposed method introduces a novel approach to improve the boundary detection of detected buildings in high-resolution remote sensed images having shadows and irregular shapes. It aims to enhance the accuracy of building detection and classification. The proposed algorithm is compared with Customized Faster R-CNNs and Single-Shot Multibox Detectors to show the significance of the results. We have used different datasets for training and evaluating the algorithm. Experimental results show that SESLM for Building Detection in Satellite Imagery can detect 98.5% of false positives at a rate of 8.4%. In summary, SESLM showcases high accuracy and improved robustness in detecting buildings, particularly in the presence of shadows. © 2025 – IOS Press. All rights reserved.

Liberated Arabic Handwritten Text Recognition using Convolutional Recurrent Neural Networks

Arabic script is exhibited in a cursive style, which is a departure from the norm in many common languages, and the shapes of letters are contingent on their positions within words. The form of the first letter is influenced by the subsequent letter, middle letters are shaped by both preceding and succeeding letters, and the shape of the final letter is determined by the preceding letter. Additionally, certain letters are found to have strikingly similar shapes, making Arabic text recognition a formidable challenge in computer vision. The challenge of detecting and recognizing Arabic handwritten text is addressed in this paper by proposing a novel system that integrates two Deep Learning models without the constraints of a predefined dictionary or language model. Object Detection techniques are employed in the first model to accurately identify lines, words, and punctuation marks, providing a robust foundation for text recognition. In the second model, a powerful recognition system is developed, trained on the IFN/ENIT dataset to predict character sequences from handwritten text images. The architecture is comprised of a convolutional neural network (CNN) with residual connections, followed by a Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (BLSTM) layer, and culminates in a fully connected layer. State-of-the-art results in unconstrained Arabic text recognition tasks are achieved by this approach. © 2025 The Author(s).

Super-Resolution Based on Curvelet Transform and Sparse Representation

Super-resolution techniques are used to reconstruct an image with a high resolution from one or more low-resolution image(s).In this paper,we proposed a single image super-resolution *** uses the nonlocal mean filter as a prior step to produce a denoised *** proposed algorithm is based on curvelet *** converts the denoised image into low and high frequencies(sub-bands).Then we applied a multi-dimensional interpolation called Lancozos interpolation over both *** parallel,we applied sparse representation with over complete dictionary for the denoised *** proposed algorithm then combines the dictionary learning in the sparse representation and the interpolated sub-bands using inverse curvelet transform to have an image with a higher *** experimental results of the proposed super-resolution algorithm show superior performance and obviously better-recovering images with enhanced *** comparison study shows that the proposed super-resolution algorithm outperforms the *** mean absolute error is 0.021±0.008 and the structural similarity index measure is 0.89±0.08.
