Employing Two-Dimensional Word Embedding for Difficult Tabular Data Stream Classification

Rapid technological advances are inherently linked to the increased amount of data, a substantial portion of which can be interpreted as data stream, capable of exhibiting the phenomenon of concept drift and having a high imbalance ratio. Consequently, developing new approaches to classifying difficult data streams is a rapidly growing research area. At the same time, the proliferation of deep learning and transfer learning, as well as the success of convolutional neural networks in computer vision tasks, have contributed to the emergence of a new research trend, namely Multi-Dimensional Encoding (MDE), focusing on transforming tabular data into a homogeneous form of a discrete digital signal. This paper proposes Streaming Super Tabular Machine Learning (SSTML), thereby exploring for the first time the potential of MDE in the difficult data stream classification task. SSTML encodes consecutive data chunks into an image representation using the STML algorithm and then performs a single ResNet-18 training epoch. Experiments conducted on synthetic and real data streams have demonstrated the ability of SSTML to achieve classification quality statistically significantly superior to state-of-the-art algorithms while maintaining comparable processing time. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

The Internet of Things (IoT) involves complex, interconnected systems and devices that depend on contextsharing platforms for interoperability and information exchange. These platforms are, therefore, critical components of real-world IoT deployments, making their security essential to ensure the resilience and reliability of these “systems of systems.” In this paper, we take the first steps toward systematically and comprehensively addressing the security of IoT context-sharing platforms. We propose a framework for threat modelling and security analysis of a generic IoT context-sharing solution, employing the MITRE ATT&CK framework. Through an evaluation of various industry-funded projects and academic research, we identify significant security challenges in the design of IoT context-sharing platforms. Our threat modelling provides an in-depth analysis of the techniques and sub-techniques adversaries may use to exploit these systems, offering valuable insights for future research aimed at developing resilient solutions. Additionally, we have developed an open-source threat analysis tool that incorporates our detailed threat modelling, which can be used to evaluate and enhance the security of existing context-sharing platforms.

Effective communication: When to Pull Updates?

We study a pull-based communication system where a sensing agent updates an actuation agent using a query control policy, which is adjusted in the evolution of an observed information source and the usefulness of each update for achieving a specific goal. For that, a controller decides whether to pull an update at each slot, predicting what is probably occurring at the source and how much effective impact that update could have at the endpoint. Thus, temporal changes in the source evolution could modify the query arrivals to capture important updates. The amount of impact is determined by a grade of effectiveness (GoE) metric, which incorporates both freshness and usefulness attributes of the communicated updates. Applying an iterative algorithm, we derive query decisions that maximize the long-term average GoE for the communicated packets, subject to cost constraints. Our analytical and numerical results show that the proposed query policy exhibits higher effectiveness than existing periodic and probabilistic query policies for a wide range of query arrival rates. Bankruptcy prediction is an important modern technique because it helps not only the policy makers but the investors and all concerned people so they can take all necessary steps to prevent or to reduce the after effects of bankruptcy. Companies take a large quantity of loan and when they become bankrupt the entire system of the bank is shattered as it is really tough to get the given money bank. Hence, it is must needed to develop a system that could predict it the company's bankruptcy and stop the loan. It is observed that the newer machine learning prediction model is outperforming the models of past thirteen years, using relatively small data but this data is still very big and balanced. Some of the machine learning models or techniques are Random Forest, XGBoost, Vector Machines. The main motive of the paper aims to compare the machine learning models which are support vector machine, random forest and XGBoost and give which one performs the best amongst them and give a novel accuracy. © 2022 IEEE.

Despite the rapid growth of the ICT sector, there is a gap between it and STEM education, resulting in high dropout rates in computer science and engineering programs. This has led to many vacancies in the ICT job market. A major challenge is that traditional teaching methods fail to engage students in difficult and abstract STEM subjects like programming. To overcome this, innovative technology-enhanced learning solutions are needed. In the past, we created a Programming Learning Assistant System (PLAS) to help novice students learn programming. PLAS provides various types of exercises to develop code reading and writing skills at different levels. In this paper, we implement the gamification into PLAS to enhance students' understanding of programming concepts, boost their confidence, spark their interest in STEM fields, and increase engagement in the course through interactive and stimulating scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.

Over the last years the use of Machine Learning in agriculture has increased in order to reach the increasing demands of the food sector. However, over the last few years there have been cases of food fraud, as well as an increased environmental impact in the agricultural sector. Digital Product Passports are more and more used in different industries in order to ensure traceability and validity of the data and the followed procedures. Digital Product Passports are mostly based on blockchain, which offers stakeholders the ability to access information at every part of the life-cycle of the product. Moreover, Digital Product Passports are key components to EU's Green Deal, which aims at achieving Carbon Neutrality and increase circular economy. In this study we outline the different components for the development of a Digital Product Passport, as well as the data that should be used main implementation challenges.

Increasing availability of cost effective IoT (Internet of Things) devices have led to the development of IoT- based farm management systems. Smart Agriculture is a demanding approach that employs the use of technology-enabled information and communication to monitor farms. In India, somewhere around 60% of the organization’s operations mostly dependent on agriculture directly or indirectly. A nation’s advancement is typically influenced by concerns with agriculture. The most effective approach to addressing agriculture’s challenges is always to improve traditional agricultural practices as well as modernize them into smart agriculture. The smart agriculture technique offers beneficial data collection, highly precise control as well as automated monitoring strategies. This research proposed a IoT assisted fog-based model that promises to provide the cost-effective smart agriculture system. Fog platform brings computation and storing nearer at the network’s the border, allowing for the efficient processing of data produced by IoT devices across smart agricultural systems. The bibliometric evaluation of the Web of science database for the adoption of the IoT-Fog base infrastructure in the creation of smart agriculture systems is also highlighted in this paper. The proposed solution when implemented as well as when contrasted with existing IoT-based agriculture system exhibit better efficiency. The result revealed that proposed system brings down response time, error rate and standard deviation to significant level and improves the accuracy of current system exponentially. © The Author(s) 2025.

In the contemporary era, harnessing millimeter-wave frequencies emerges as a compelling strategy to fulfill the swift data transfer requirements for 5G communications. Consequently, this study involves designing a metamaterial-based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with a focus on achieving high isolation and gain within the millimeter-wave spectrum. The suggested MIMO is printed on a Rogers RT5800 measuring 18 × 38 × 0.8 mm3. The single antenna element demonstrates a broad frequency coverage from 27.2 to 28.72GHz. To elevate the antenna's effectiveness, a two-port MIMO configuration is implemented by introducing a second antenna element parallel to benchmark antenna. However, the isolation between the two elements is deemed satisfactory. To address this, a 4 × 1 metamaterial unit cell is introduced, significantly enhancing isolation from 31 dB to 39 dB at 28 GHz. Furthermore, it improves the gain by 0.5 dBi at 28 GHz, elevating it from 8.5 to 9 dBi. The collective features of the suggested two ports MIMO antenna, encompassing its compactness and simplicity, position it as an excellent option for upcoming portable and shrink devices in Internet of Things uses. © 2024 IEEE.
