Dataset search is receiving increasing attention in a scholar's daily research practice. In biodiversity research, dataset retrieval in particular is a challenging and time-consuming task as most search services in current data portals only offer a simple keyword-based search. In this work we introduce [Dai:Si], a modular framework for dataset retrieval with a semantic search for biological data. [Dai:Si] is based on a former semantic search service developed within the scope of the GFBio project. It allows the expansion of query keywords with related terms using GFBio's Terminology Service. This new version provides an enhanced user interface (UI) with explanations of related semantic terms upon demand. Due to its modular structure, [Dai:Si]'s semantic service can now be used independently of the user interface (UI). © 2021 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.

Currently, a lot of universities are offering Java programming courses for teaching the first-step object-oriented programming language. For novice students, to master writing readable codes using proper names for variables, classes, and methods is crucial in Java programming, to improve under-standability and maintainability. In this paper, we consider four naming rules to write a readable code and implement the naming rule checking function to check whether the given code follows them. For evaluations, we applied the proposal to 2, 908 source codes submitted in Java programming courses from students in Okayama University, Japan, Malang State Polytechnic, Indonesia, and Yamaguchi University, Japan. The results confirm the effectiveness of the proposal.

Hy-Tracker: A Novel Framework for Enhancing Efficiency and Accuracy of Object Tracking in Hyperspectral Videos

Hyperspectral object tracking has recently emerged as a topic of great interest in the remote sensing community. The hyperspectral image, with its many bands, provides a rich source of material information of an object that can be effectively used for object tracking. While most hyperspectral trackers are based on detection-based techniques, no one has yet attempted to employ YOLO for detecting and tracking the object. This is due to the presence of multiple spectral bands, the scarcity of annotated hyperspectral videos, and YOLO’s performance limitation in managing occlusions, and distinguishing object in cluttered backgrounds. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel framework called Hy-Tracker, which aims to bridge the gap between hyperspectral data and state-of-the-art object detection methods to leverage the strengths of YOLOv7 for object tracking in hyperspectral videos. Hy-Tracker not only introduces YOLOv7 but also innovatively incorporates a refined tracking module on top of YOLOv7. The tracker refines the initial detections produced by YOLOv7, leading to improved object-tracking performance. Furthermore, we incorporate Kalman-Filter into the tracker, which addresses the challenges posed by scale variation and occlusion. The experimental results on hyperspectral benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of Hy-Tracker in accurately tracking objects across frames. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. A design method for high fabrication tolerance integrated optical mode multiplexer

The tapered asymmetric directional coupler has the potential to realize high fabrication tolerance and high transmission efficiency on-chip mode multiplexer. However, the geometry parameter selection of tapered structure remains empirical. In this paper, we propose a design method for the tapered structure based on genetic algorithm. Combined with the adjusted coupling equations and interpolation method, lowtime-cost optimization can be realized. Three mode multiplexers(TE0&TE1, TE0&TE2 and TE0&TE5)are designed by our method. According to simulation results, the insertion loss of the designed devices is lower than 1.8 dB and the crosstalk is lower than-15 dB when the fabrication error is within required range(±10 nm for TE0&TE2 and TE0&TE5, and ±20 nm for TE0&TE1) in the bandwidth of 1.5–1.6 μm. In addition, the entire optimization process takes only 2 h for each device, which is around the time cost of a single 3 D simulation.

Heterogenous 5G wireless Sensor Networks face several constraints throughout the routing process. Reduced costs, minimal energy use, and reliable data transmission between nodes are the primary problems of a heterogenous 5G wireless sensors network. During the transmission process of nodes, vacant holes use the most energy. The two most problematic aspects of heterogenous 5G WSNs are the location mentioned above mistake and the battery drain on individual nodes. However, the network's performance suffers significantly due to data packet loss and excessive energy consumption. Thus, many routing protocols incorporate various energy-saving techniques. In contrast, a routing strategy is suggested in this research to prevent void holes and maximize network stability. In addition, the scalability and efficacy of the proposed protocol are demonstrated by comparing it with state-of-the-art protocols. This study also introduces the idea of location error to increase the network's efficiency. In addition, a scalability study of the suggested systems has been conducted. Extensive simulations were also conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed technique. The findings confirm that the recommended routing strategy outperforms the competing schemes.

This paper comprehensively investigates the performance of downlink multi-user rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) networks under Nakagami-m fading channels. We first develop the mathematical outage probability (OP) and ergodic capacity (EC) frameworks, deriving exact expressions for both, along with asymptotic analysis in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and low-rate regions, which serve as the foundation for deducing the approximate and maximal energy-reliability and energy-spectral formulas. To enhance system performance, we tackle the non-convex problems of jointly optimizing common and private power allocation (PA) coefficients to minimize the maximal OP performance. Moreover, we also delve into optimizing PA coefficients and rate-splitting factors concurrently to maximize the ergodic sum capacity (ESC). Addressing the influence of modulation schemes on user error rates, we introduce mathematical frameworks for symbol error rate (SER) considering four combined modulation schemes based on binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) and quadrature-phase shift keying (QPSK), the whole cases are quantified in terms of exact and asymptotic manners. Furthermore, we present a straightforward approach to optimize the PA coefficients to minimize the maximal SER performance. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to validate our developed frameworks and optimization solutions. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been used to study the structural makeup of the brain and analyse several neurological disorders and diseased areas. For the adoption of preventative measures, early recognition of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients is essential. Here, a thorough inspection of the tissue arrangements obtained by MRI images of Outcome and Assessment Information (OASIS) dataset enables an exact characterization of certain brain diseases. There have been a number of division techniques for diagnosing AD that range in complexity. Compassion has been tested by deep learning techniques used to segment the structure of the brain and classify AD because they have the potential to uncover important information from vast amounts of data. In this paper the deep learning technique of Hybrid Dragonfly based GWO convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is achieved promising result for the diagnosis of AD. At image preprocessing wiener filter is used for removing the additive noises and the Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) extraction is implemented for texture analyzing. As a result, hybrid deep learning methods of CNN has the accuracy as 90% and the result of the image prediction are presented in this paper.

Underwater acoustic wave propagation time delay and fluctuations are much greater than radio waves. However, many of the protocols used for underwater acoustic networking and communication are designed according to the principles of terrestrial wireless communication networks, failing to give full consideration to utilizing the underwater acoustic propagation and its time delay variation. For this reason, this article proposes an adaptive varying contention window media access control (AVCW-MAC) protocol based on propagation delay. The protocol uses AVCW random backoff mechanism to differently set up the CW of each node based on the different propagation delays from each underwater sensor node to the cluster head node to improve the channel utilization. In addition, to avoid excessive difference in the CW of each node, the backoff factors K1 and K2 are introduced in the AVCW random backoff mechanism to improve the fairness of nodes' accessing the channel. Simulation results show that for the same amount of sensor nodes, the AVCW-MAC protocol has significantly improved network throughput and decreased average end-to-end latency when compared to legacy CW-MAC protocols. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

The emerging intelligence technologies represented by deep learning have broadened their applications to various fields. Beyond the conventional electronics-based processing systems, the convergence of photonics and artificial intelligence(AI) technology enhances the performance and learning ability of AI. In this review, we propose the concept of an intelligent photonic system(IPS), illustrating it as a developing architecture with three different versions. For each version of IPS, we review several representative *** we discuss the challenges towards an IPS and provide some prospects for the future development.

Artificial robotization experienced a paradigm shift because Internet of Things (IoT) technology enables users to track and immediate control artificial processes. This research seeks to study Internet of Things (IoT)powered real-time monitoring systems used in artificial robotization because these systems affect operational efficiency alongside predictive maintenance and decisionrelated functionalities. Uncertified systems become capable of nonstop measurement of vital parameters including temperature and pressure as well as machine performance when applying IoT detectors and sensors together with robust data analytics and computational resources. Real-time data access through analysis helps teams execute rapid decisions thus they can shorten downtimes and boost operational efficiency. An analysis of suitable Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure structures and communication protocols for simulated environments along with depicted case studies of effective deployments constitutes this paper. The problems related to data security alongside interoperability challenges and scalability issues are pointed out so researchers achieve deeper insight into experimental results. The research establishes that artificial robotization systems developed through Internet of Things technology have the capability to advance intelligence and responsiveness so new advancements in the field are possible.
