It is crucial to predict the outputs of a thickening system,including the underflow concentration(UC)and mud pressure,for optimal control of the *** proliferation of industrial sensors and the availability of thickening-system data make this ***,the unique properties of thickening systems,such as the non-linearities,long-time delays,partially observed data,and continuous time evolution pose challenges on building data-driven predictive *** address the above challenges,we establish an integrated,deep-learning,continuous time network structure that consists of a sequential encoder,a state decoder,and a derivative module to learn the deterministic state space model from thickening *** a case study,we examine our methods with a tailing thickener manufactured by the FLSmidth installed with massive sensors and obtain extensive experimental *** results demonstrate that the proposed continuous-time model with the sequential encoder achieves better prediction performances than the existing discrete-time models and reduces the negative effects from long time delays by extracting features from historical system *** proposed method also demonstrates outstanding performances for both short and long term prediction tasks with the two proposed derivative types.

Investigating Routing Protocol Attacks on Low Power and Lossy IoT networks

Internet-of-things (IoT) networks are distinguished by nodes with limited computational power and storage capacity, making Low Power and Lossy networks (LLNs) protocols essential for effective communication in resource-constrained environments. One such protocol is the Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy networks (RPL), which establishes and manages routes in RPL-based networks. RPL contributes to optimized routing and reduced network overhead in LLNs. However, the RPL-based protocol is susceptible to various internal and external vulnerabilities that require thorough exploration and mitigation. Experimental results illustrate the impact of several RPL attacks, including the DODAG Information Solicitation (DIS) attack, version number attack, decreased rank attack, and worst parent selection (WPS) attack. For simulation purposes, we employed the Contiki Cooja network simulator. Further, we conduct a comparative analysis of these RPL-based attacks, revealing that the WPS attack has a significant impact on the network performance compared to other attacks mentioned in the paper. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

Road Side Units(RSUs)are the essential component of vehicular communication for the objective of improving safety and mobility in the road *** are generally deployed at the roadside and more specifically at the intersections in order to collect traffic information from the vehicles and disseminate alarms and messages in emergency situations to the neighborhood vehicles cooperating with the ***,the development of a predominant RSUs placement algorithm for ensuring competent communication in VANETs is a challenging issue due to the hindrance of obstacles like water bodies,trees and *** this paper,Ruppert’s Delaunay Triangulation Refinement Scheme(RDTRS)for optimal RSUs placement is proposed for accurately estimating the optimal number of RSUs that has the possibility of enhancing the area of coverage during data *** RDTRS is proposed by considering the maximum number of factors such as global coverage,intersection popularity,vehicle density and obstacles present in the map for optimal RSUs placement,which is considered as the core improvement over the existing RSUs optimal placement *** is contributed for deploying requisite RSUs with essential transmission range for maximal coverage in the convex map such that each position of the map could be effectively covered by at least one RSU in the presence of *** simulation experiments of the proposed RDTRS are conducted with complex road traffic *** results of this proposed RDTRS confirmed its predominance in reducing the end-to-end delay by 21.32%,packet loss by 9.38%with improved packet delivery rate of 10.68%,compared to the benchmarked schemes.

Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) emerges as a promising technology for 6G, particularly in the millimeter-wave (mmWave) band. However, the widely utilized hybrid architecture in mmWave systems compromises multiplexing gain due to the constraints of limited radio-frequency (RF) chains. Moreover, additional sensing functionalities exacerbate the impairment of spectrum efficiency (SE). In this paper, we present an optimized beam pattern modulation-embedded ISAC (BPM-ISAC) transceiver design, which spares one RF chain for sensing and uses the remaining ones for communication. To compensate for the reduced SE, index modulation across communication beams is applied. We formulate an optimization problem aimed at minimizing the mean squared error (MSE) of the sensing beampattern, subject to a symbol MSE constraint. This problem is then solved by sequentially optimizing the analog and digital parts. Both the multi-aperture structure (MAS) and the multi-beam structure (MBS) are considered in the analog part. We conduct theoretical analysis on the asymptotic pairwise error probability (APEP) and the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) of direction of arrival (DoA) estimation. Numerical simulations validate the overall enhanced ISAC performance over existing alternatives. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

Gene expression analysis is an efficient modality to detect breast cancer. But analysis of the gene expression data is a complicated task due to the involvement of large number of numerical data for each subject. This research work focuses on the development of computerized diagnosis systems for analyzing the gene expression data and classifying the subjects as either normal or breast adenocarcinoma. Sparse autoencoder is used for dimensionality reduction and Elephant Herding Optimization is used for transforming the features. Four different supervised classifiers namely support vector machine, random forest classifier, decision trees, and naive bayes classifier are examined for classification task. Among them, random forest provides the superior balanced accuracy of 86% while it was further enhanced to 92% with the help of sparse autoencoders and elephant herding optimization algorithm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In response to growing security concerns and the increasing demand for face recognition (FR) technology in various sectors, this research explores the application of deep learning techniques, specifically pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models, in the field of FR. The study harnesses the power of five pre-trained CNN models—DenseNet201, ResNet152V2, MobileNetV2, SeResNeXt, and Xception—for robust feature extraction, followed by SoftMax classification. A novel weighted average ensemble model, meticulously optimized through a grid search technique, is introduced to augment feature extraction and classification efficacy. Emphasizing the significance of robust data pre-processing, encompassing resizing, data augmentation, splitting, and normalization, the research endeavors to fortify the reliability of FR systems. Methodologically, the study systematically investigates hyperparameters across deep learning models, fine-tuning network depth, learning rate, activation functions, and optimization methods. Comprehensive evaluations unfold across diverse datasets to discern the effectiveness of the proposed models. Key contributions of this work encompass the utilization of pre-trained CNN models for feature extraction, extensive evaluation across multiple datasets, the introduction of a weighted average ensemble model, emphasis on robust data pre-processing, systematic hyperparameter tuning, and the utilization of comprehensive evaluation metrics. The results, meticulously analyzed, unveil the superior performance of the proposed method, consistently outshining alternative models across pivotal metrics, including Recall, Precision, F1 Score, Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC), and Accuracy. Notably, the proposed method attains an exceptional accuracy of 99.48% on the labeled faces in the wild (LFW) dataset, surpassing erstwhile state-of-the-art benchmarks. A considerable amount of data, presented in a structured form, is available on the Web nowadays. For the informational content of such data to be made accessible and understandable to users, its translation into text is preferable. This task is named 'data-to-text generation' in the state-of-the-art, and it is an instance of the Natural Language Generation. In order to generate some valuable text from data, also known as lexicalisation, some approaches have begun to consider the Resource Description Format (RDF) data present within the Knowledge Graphs. In this context, it is possible to identify two main categories of lexicalisation approaches that use neural networks: pipeline and end-to-end. The former has better performances but is more complex to adapt. The latter, the end-to-end systems, has much simpler architectures but is less precise. In this work, in order to get the best from the two categories, we propose a new hybrid approach, TripleEnc, which, thanks to the concept of vector similarity between RDF triples, identifies the best approach for lexicalisation. Empirical comparisons demonstrate that the novel approach improves the quality of the generated text. © 2021 IEEE.

With the recent advent of technology, social networks are accessible 24/7 using mobile devices. During covid-19 pandemic the propagation of misinformation are mostly related to the disease, its cures and prevention. With Twitter as the medium this information was spreaded to millions of people who lack domain specific knowledge. This can lead to bloster fear and direct damage to the people. This research focuses on identifying the veracity of the Twitter posts behind pandemic situation. The authors have proposed a Transformer Model using Bat Algorithm for identifying the fake news. This model is trained and evaluated using infodemic metadata. Our experimental results shows by which proposed model accurately detected the fake news and achieved 96.5% of f1-score. © 2024 IEEE.
