Controllable chaos in the coupled waveguide-optomechanical system with phase shifter

We theoretically investigate chaotic dynamics in an optomechanical system composed of a whispering-gallery-mode(WGM)microresonator and a *** find that tuning the optical phase using a phase shifter and modifying the coupling strength via a unidirectional waveguide(IWG)can induce chaotic *** underlying reason for this phenomenon is that adjusting the phase and coupling strength via the phase shifter and IWG bring the system close to an exceptional point(EP),where field localization dynamically enhances the optomechanical nonlinearity,leading to the generation of chaotic *** addition,due to the sensitivity of chaos to phase in the vicinity of the EP,we propose a theoretical scheme to measure the optical phase perturbations using *** work may offer an alternative approach to chaos generation with current experimental technology and provide theoretical guidance for optical signal processing and chaotic secure communication.

Border Gateway Protocol(BGP),as the standard inter-domain routing protocol,is a distance-vector dynamic routing protocol used for exchanging routing information between distributed Autonomous Systems(AS).BGP nodes,communicating in a distributed dynamic environment,face several security challenges,with trust being one of the most important issues in inter-domain *** research,which performs trust evaluation when exchanging routing information to suppress malicious routing behavior,cannot meet the scalability requirements of BGP *** this paper,we propose a blockchain-based trust model for inter-domain *** model achieves scalability by allowing the master node of an AS alliance to transmit the trust evaluation data of its member nodes to the *** BGP nodes can expedite the trust evaluation process by accessing a global view of other BGP nodes through the master node of their respective *** incorporate security service evaluation before direct evaluation and indirect recommendations to assess the security services that BGP nodes provide for themselves and prioritize to guarantee their security of routing *** forward the trust evaluation for neighbor discovery and prioritize the nodes with high trust as neighbor nodes to reduce the malicious exchange routing *** use simulation software to simulate a real BGP environments and employ a comparative experimental research approach to demonstrate the performance evaluation of our trust *** with the classical trust model,our trust model not only saves more storage overhead,but also provides higher security,especially reducing the impact of collusion attacks.

The rapid expansion of Internet of Things(IoT)networks has introduced challenges in network management,primarily in maintaining energy efficiency and robust connectivity across an increasing array of *** paper introduces the Adaptive Blended Marine Predators Algorithm(AB-MPA),a novel optimization technique designed to enhance Quality of Service(QoS)in IoT systems by dynamically optimizing network configurations for improved energy efficiency and *** results represent significant improvements in network performance metrics such as energy consumption,throughput,and operational stability,indicating that AB-MPA effectively addresses the pressing needs ofmodern IoT *** are initiated with 100 J of stored energy,and energy is consumed at 0.01 J per square meter in each node to emphasize energy-efficient *** algorithm also provides sufficient network lifetime extension to a resourceful 7000 cycles for up to 200 nodes with a maximum Packet Delivery Ratio(PDR)of 99% and a robust network throughput of up to 1800 kbps in more compact node *** study proposes a viable solution to a critical problem and opens avenues for further research into scalable network management for diverse applications.

In the contemporary business landscape, software has evolved into a strategic asset crucial for organizations seeking sustainable competitive advantage. The imperative of ensuring software quality becomes evident as low-quality software systems pose formidable challenges to organizational performance. This study delves into the profound impact of three key dimensions of information system quality on organizational performance—information quality (IQ), quality of service (QoS), and software quality (SQ). Anchored in the DeLone and McLean information system (IS) success model, a quantitative questionnaire was administered to 360 industry experts and academics. Rigorous data analysis, employing exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM), revealed significant positive effects of all three quality dimensions on organizational performance. Among these dimensions, software quality emerged as the most influential, showcasing substantial total effects, closely followed by information and service qualities. The study underscores the tangible value derived from strategic investments in enhancing software, information, and service quality. Elevating these facets manifests as a catalyst for improved organizational performance, empowering decision-makers with accurate and timely information while enhancing user satisfaction with the system. This research contributes significantly to the IS success literature by empirically validating the synergistic relationship between information quality, service quality, software quality, and organizational outcomes. The systematic analysis offered in this study goes beyond theoretical validation, providing actionable insights for managers. The findings guide the prioritization of quality initiatives and resource allocation, enabling organizations to maximize competitive advantage. Sign gestures play a crucial role in communication for the deaf community, emphasizing the need for effective translation systems. Hand gestures convey thoughts more rapidly than other actions, making them essential for those who are deaf-mute. The primary goal is to design an assistive device that seamlessly translates a variety of sign signals into understandable text and vocalized output for individuals with speech difficulties. The proposed method involves creating a robust dataset with diverse hand gestures, employing image recognition preprocessing techniques, and implementing a CNN-LSTM model. This comprehensive framework combines computer vision, natural language processing, and speech synthesis for gesture recognition, text generation, and speech synthesis. Through extensive experimentation and model optimization, the system achieves a remarkable 94.5% accuracy in identifying and translating hand gestures into coherent text. Case tests with letters, numbers, and typical gestures demonstrate an average accuracy of 95%, showcasing the system's versatility and durability. © 2024 IEEE.

Real-Time On-Site Ground-Motion Prediction Using ResNet

On-site warnings can decrease the range of late alert zone during earthquakes. This study develops a deep learning model to predict whether the maximum peak ground acceleration at a station exceeds 25 Gal based on the waveform of the initial P-wave. A ResNet architecture model is developed to address the degradation problem in multilayered models, thereby enhancing performance. The model exhibits high performance for a test dataset, achieving F1-scores higher than 90% over various time windows, and outperforms the traditional progressive displacement value (Pdv) method and newer convolutional neural network (CNN) methods. Ground motion of two actual earthquakes are applied to test the model and validate its prediction capabilities, and the results indicate that the proposed model has higher accuracy and speed than Pdv and CNN methods. In addition, the model is integrated with the Earthworm earthquake early warning system for real-time waveform analysis and prediction, extending the model’s applicability beyond experimental stages to online systems. The proposed method is also tested using data from earthquakes that occurred in March 2023. © Seismological Society of America.

FoodExpert: Portable Intelligent Device for Rapid Screening of Pulse Quality and Adulteration

Pulses are one of the most important food crops in the world due to their higher protein content, approximately 21%-25%. Therefore, it is crucial to analyze the crop's quality and impurity levels. Stones, pebbles, marble chips, and synthetic dyes, such as lead chromate, metanil yellow, and artificial colors, are some of the impurities added to pulse products, accidentally or on purpose. The existing analysis techniques are mostly laboratory-based, time-consuming, costly, and require human examination. To address this issue, this article presents an intelligent system, FoodExpert, based on image processing that automatically uses an image of a pulse sample to identify the region of interest and essential attributes. Then, machine learning frameworks are used to predict pulse quality and adulteration levels based on the obtained parameters. On the test dataset, the suggested model had a 96% accuracy rate for pulse quality prediction and 94% accuracy for adulteration level prediction. The model was successfully deployed on a Raspberry Pi-based hardware prototype and mobile application. © 2023 IEEE.

Data clustering is an essential technique for analyzing complex datasets and continues to be a central research topic in data *** clustering algorithms,such as K-means,are widely used due to their simplicity and *** paper proposes a novel Spiral Mechanism-Optimized Phasmatodea Population Evolution Algorithm(SPPE)to improve clustering *** SPPE algorithm introduces several enhancements to the standard Phasmatodea Population Evolution(PPE)***,a Variable Neighborhood Search(VNS)factor is incorporated to strengthen the local search capability and foster population ***,a position update model,incorporating a spiral mechanism,is designed to improve the algorithm’s global exploration and convergence ***,a dynamic balancing factor,guided by fitness values,adjusts the search process to balance exploration and exploitation *** performance of SPPE is first validated on CEC2013 benchmark functions,where it demonstrates excellent convergence speed and superior optimization results compared to several state-of-the-art metaheuristic *** further verify its practical applicability,SPPE is combined with the K-means algorithm for data clustering and tested on seven *** results show that SPPE-K-means improves clustering accuracy,reduces dependency on initialization,and outperforms other clustering *** study highlights SPPE’s robustness and efficiency in solving both optimization and clustering challenges,making it a promising tool for complex data analysis tasks.

Energy-efficient virtual machine scheduling in IaaS cloud environment using energy-aware green-particle swarm optimization

Cloud data centers have a huge pool of heterogeneous servers to seamlessly meet the ever-increasing demand for cloud resources. Most of these servers belong to different server generations and have varying power ratings. Virtual machine (VM) consolidation schedules VMs over this pool of heterogeneous servers to improve resource utilization and reduce power consumption. However, it also increases the Service Level Agreement(SLA) violation since servers operate near full capacity. Therefore, to optimize this tradeoff between energy consumption and SLA violation, a Green-Particle Swarm Optimization (GPSO) algorithm is proposed that schedules VMs over energy-efficient green servers. These green servers (green particles) are energy-efficient, explore the global search space, and find a VM schedule with minimum active servers that reduce data center power consumption and ensure SLA. The proposed GPSO algorithm is implemented on the cloudsim simulator and compared with the state-of-the-art VM scheduling algorithms. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management.
