Automatic lung cancer detection using hybrid particle snake swarm optimization with optimized mask RCNN

As a result of its aggressive nature and late identification at advanced stages, lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths. Lung cancer early diagnosis is a serious and difficult challenge that is crucial to a person's survival. The first diagnosis of the malignant nodules is typically made using chest radiography (X-rays) and computed tomography (CT) scans;however, the potential presence of benign nodules results in incorrect conclusions. The early phases of both benign and malignant nodules exhibit striking similarities. In this paper, a novel deep learning-based model is proposed for the precise diagnosis of malignant nodules. The proposed approach consists of two stages namely, pre-processing and lung nodule detection. Initially, the Lung CT scan images are collected from the dataset. Then, to remove the noise present in the input image, we apply an adaptive median filter. Then, to enhance the image, Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) is applied. After pre-processing, the image is given to the optimized mask RCNN classifier to detect the malignant and benign nodules. To enhance the performance of the Mask RCNN classifier, the hyper-parameters are optimally selected using hybrid particle snake swarm optimization (PS2OA). The proposed PS2OA is a hybridization of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and snake swarm optimization (SSO). The performance of the proposed approach is analyzed based on different metrics and effectiveness compared with state-of-the-art works. The proposed approach attained the maximum accuracy of 97.67%. This work aimed at assisting radiologists to detect and diagnose small-size pulmonary nodules more accurately. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Effective task scheduling and resource allocation have become major problems as a result of the fast development of cloud computing as well as the rise of multi-cloud systems. To successfully handle these issues, we provide a novel strategy in this study termed Efficient Multiverse Electro Search Optimization (EMESO). This study presents an Efficient Multiverse Electro Search optimization to improve work scheduling behaviour, with significance on electron transport near the nucleus and cosmological principles. The method uses exploration, exploitation, and local search to discover the optimal solution from a huge amount of potential alternatives. EMESO examines a broad search space to uncover optimal solutions for work scheduling and resource allocation by exploiting the concept of a multiverse, which represents a collection of parallel universes. While related to modern work, the proposed approach performs much better in big and extra-big workflow jobs than in smaller and midrange workflow jobs. It may decrease costs by 6%, shorten project timelines by 8%, and increase resource efficiency by 55% while still enabling all activities to be completed by the deadlines. The proposed approach significantly improves efficiency, resource utilization, and overall performance, making it one of the best options for managing complex cloud systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) applications are added day by day owing to numerous global uses (by the military, for monitoring the atmosphere, in disaster relief, and so on). Here, trust management is a main challenge. Sensor nodes are important in wireless sensor networks, but they are easily depleted because of their short lifespan from continuous sensing activity and low battery capacity. So efficient energy utilization is a challenging task in a WSN. To minimize energy loss, clustering with an optimum path selection process is needed to retain energy in sensor nodes. This manuscript proposes multi-objective Pelican Optimization Algorithm (POA) routing to maintain energy efficiency and minimize transmission distances in wireless sensor networks. A cluster head (CH) is selected by using a Separable Convolution Neural Network (SCNN). Simulation outcomes prove the proposed technique attains 22.3% and 25.04% improvements in energy consumption when compared to the Multi-Objective CH Energy-aware Optimized Routing Approach at WSN (MOCH-EORA-WSN) and Multiple Optimum Cluster Head Multi-Objective Grasshopper Optimization with Harmony-search at WSN (MOCH-MOGOH-WSN), respectively. © 2024 Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea. The medical domain faces unique challenges in Information Retrieval (IR) due to the complexity of medical language and terminology discrepancies between user queries and documents. While traditional Keyword-Based Methods (KBM) have limitations, the integration of semantic knowledge bases and concept mapping techniques enhances data organization and retrieval. Addressing the growing demands in the biomedical field, a novel medical Information Retrieval System (IRS) is proposed that employs Deep Learning (DL) and KBM. This system comprises five core steps: pre-processing of texts, document indexing using DL (ELMo) and KBM, advanced query processing, a BiLSTM-based retrieval network for contextual representation, and a KR-R re-ranking algorithm to refine document relevance. The purpose of the system is to give users improved biomedical search results through the integration of all of these techniques into a method that takes into consideration the semantic problems of medical records. An in-depth examination of the TREC-PM track samples from 2017 to 2019 observed an impressive leading MRR score of 0.605 in 2017 and a best-in-class rPrec score of 0.350 in 2019, proving how well able the system is to detect and rank relevant medical records accurately. © 2024 – IOS Press. The nonlinear filtering problem has enduringly been an active research topic in both academia and industry due to its ever-growing theoretical importance and practical *** main objective of nonlinear filtering is to infer the states of a nonlinear dynamical system of interest based on the available noisy measurements. In recent years, the advance of network communication technology has not only popularized the networked systems with apparent advantages in terms of installation,cost and maintenance, but also brought about a series of challenges to the design of nonlinear filtering algorithms, among which the communication constraint has been recognized as a dominating concern. In this context, a great number of investigations have been launched towards the networked nonlinear filtering problem with communication constraints, and many samplebased nonlinear filters have been developed to deal with the highly nonlinear and/or non-Gaussian scenarios. The aim of this paper is to provide a timely survey about the recent advances on the sample-based networked nonlinear filtering problem from the perspective of communication constraints. More specifically, we first review three important families of sample-based filtering methods known as the unscented Kalman filter, particle filter,and maximum correntropy filter. Then, the latest developments are surveyed with stress on the topics regarding incomplete/imperfect information, limited resources and cyber ***, several challenges and open problems are highlighted to shed some lights on the possible trends of future research in this realm.

Hybrid classification of XGBoost-based ADAM optimization for coronary artery disease diagnosis

A common cardiovascular illness with high fatality rates is coronary artery disease (CAD). Researchers have been exploring alternative methods to diagnose and assess the severity of CAD that are less invasive, cost-effective, and utilize noninvasive clinical data. Machine learning algorithms have shown promising and potential results. Accordingly, this study focuses on assisting medical practitioners with CAD detection by using a hybrid classification system combining XGBoost and Adam optimization. The primary approach incorporates One-Hot encoding to transform categorical attributes within the dataset, enhancing the precision of predictions. The secondary approach constitutes a hybrid classification model integrating XGBoost and employing Adam optimizations for CAD detections. The efficacy of the recommended method is assessed using the cleveland, Hungarian, and Statlog heart-disease data sets. The proposed system and the standard Grid and Random Search classifiers are compared. The experimental outcomes indicate that the suggested model achieves a notable prediction accuracy of 94.19%. This represents an improvement of 7 to 8% over the existing grid search algorithm and 2 to 3% improvement over the random search algorithm for the above all datasets. Hence, the proposed system can be a valuable tool for identifying CAD patients, offering enhanced prediction accuracy. © 2024 – IOS Press.

Hearing loss or hearing impairment is one of the most leading cause highly affecting the people around the world in present days. Additionally, this disease primarily affects children and adults, which has an impact on their daily lives, careers, education, and other aspects of their lives. Therefore, it has to be correctly identified and diagnosed so that early therapies can be given to save people's lives. The many kinds of automated hearing loss prediction/detection systems are created for this aim in conventional works. The majority of the current research focuses on applying prediction techniques based on machine learning and deep learning to diagnose diseases. Its shortcomings include challenging computational procedures, longer training and testing times, greater mis-prediction outcomes, and incorrect outputs. Therefore, the proposed work objects to develop a Human Age - Hearing Impairment & Level (HAHIL) prediction system by using the machine learning methodologies. In this study, we describe a computer-aided strategy to forecast hearing loss and then prevent it. Here, three distinct prediction models are deployed for age prediction, hearing loss detection, and its severity level prediction. The Biased Probability Neural Network (BPNN) technique is utilized to predict the age based on simulated human acoustical signals. Then, the Regularized Extreme Learning Machine (RELM) mechanism is deployed for predicting the hearing impairment by constructing the weight and target matrices. During evaluation, the performance of the proposed HAHIL prediction system is validated and tested by using various evaluation indicators. The effectiveness of our computer-aided hearing loss prediction methods has been proven to be very high and they can be applied to the actual application system. Also, it provides an increased accuracy up to 99%, which is highly superior than the existing prediction models. © 2023 Multidiscip. Sci. J. All rights reserved.

The creation of an automated system for heart disease detection was once one of the more common undertakings in the healthcare industries. For this purpose, the different types of big data analytics technologies are developed in the conventional works to predict the heart disease. Still, it limits with the problems associated to the elements of high complexity, time consumption, over fitting, and mis-prediction results. Because the previous methods did not optimize the best features, they did not give accurate results in heart attack detection, so the system is needed to control the death ***, the proposed work objects to implement a novel Mine Blast Optimization (MBO) based Multi-Layer Perceptron Neural Network (MLPNN) technique to predict the heart attack from the given datasets. The proposed detection framework includes the stages of preprocessing, feature optimization, and classification. Here, the regression based preprocessing model is implemented to normalize the attributes for increasing the quality. Then, the MBO technique is also used to choose the relevant features based on the best optimal solution. It also helps to reduce the increase the training of classifier with reduced time consumption and high detection accuracy. Finally, the MLPNN technique is utilized to predict the classified label as whether normal or disease affected. During analysis, the results of the proposed MBO-MLPNN technique is validated and compared by using various measures. Here the proposed method achieved 98% accuracy performance for heart attack detection than former methods. © 2023 Novel Carbon Resource sciences. All rights reserved.

Feature selection is a major pre-processing stage in machine learning to identify the optimal features through diminishing the redundant features to enhance the classification accuracy. The swarm intelligence algorithm provides superior optimal solution through distributive search over complete search in the feature space. Nevertheless, the SSA algorithm falls with local optima and poor convergence rate. In this paper, the levy distribution-based Salp Swarm Algorithm (LDSSA) framework is proposed to strengthen the balance among explorative and exploitative samples. The goal of this work is to minimize the higher dimensionality for larger datasets by feature extraction. The experimental results were examined on 10 Benchmark datasets from UCI repository to legitimize the supremacy of proposed algorithm with other existing methodologies. The comparative outcome shows the distribution improves the performance of SSA method and surpasses over other optimization algorithm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Seizure Prediction on EEG Signals using Feature Augmentation based Multi Model Ensemble

Background: Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that leads to seizures. This occurs due to excessive electrical discharge by the brain cells. An effective seizure prediction model can aid in improving the lifestyle of epilepsy patients. After analyzing various patents related to seizure prediction, it is observed that monitoring electroencephalography (EEG) signals of epileptic patients is an important task for the early diagnosis of seizures. Objective: The main objective of this paper is to assist epileptic patients to enhance their way of living by predicting the seizure in advance. Methods: This paper builds a feature augmentation-based multi-model ensemble-based architecture for seizure prediction. The proposed technique is divided into 2 broad categories;feature augmentation and ensemble modeling. The feature augmentation process builds temporal features while the multi-model ensemble has been designed to handle the high complexity levels of the EEG data. The first phase of the multi-model ensemble has been designed with heterogeneous classifier models. The second phase is based on the prediction results obtained from the first phase. Experiments were performed using the seizure prediction dataset from the University Hospital of Bonn. Results: Comparison indicates 98.7% accuracy, with improvement of 5% from the existing model. High prediction levels indicate that the model is highly capable of providing accurate seizure predictions, hence ensuring its applicability in real time. Conclusion: The result of this paper has been compared with existing methods of predicting seizures and it indicated that the proposed model has better enhancement in the accuracy levels. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.
