The COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of people globally, with respiratory organs being strongly affected in individuals with comorbidities. Medical imaging-based diagnosis and prognosis have become increasingly popular in clinical settings for detecting COVID-19 lung infections. Among various medical imaging modalities, ultrasound stands out as a low-cost, mobile, and radiation-safe imaging technology. In this comprehensive review, we focus on AI-driven studies utilizing lung ultrasound (LUS) for COVID-19 detection and analysis. We provide a detailed overview of both publicly available and private LUS datasets and categorize the AI studies according to the dataset they used. Additionally, we systematically analyzed and tabulated the studies across various dimensions, including data preprocessing methods, AI models, cross-validation techniques, and evaluation metrics. In total, we reviewed 60 articles, 41 of which utilized public datasets, while the remaining employed private data. Our findings suggest that ultrasound-based AI studies for COVID-19 detection have great potential for clinical use, especially for children and pregnant women. Our review also provides a useful summary for future researchers and clinicians who may be interested in the field. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

This system provides a comprehensive overview of hospital environments by tracking air quality, dust, temperature, and humidity simultaneously, offering a more complete picture of indoor conditions than systems that focus on fewer parameters. The use of IoT technology enables real-time monitoring and alerts, allowing hospital staff to respond immediately to any issues. Additionally, predictive analytics anticipate future changes, giving staff time to take preventive measures. Enhancing Skin Disease Diagnosis: Light GBM-DMS Algorithm for Accurate Image Classification

Globally, skin diseases are emerging as the most common health problem. It initiates depressive disorder, and it also causes physical health distress. It rarely led to skin cancer in extreme cases. Diagnosing skin disease is subjective and time-consuming when it is performed by health experts manually. Hence, automatic skin disease prediction is required by both dermatologists and patients to enhance and accelerate treatment plans. Even though many machine-learning techniques are available to detect skin diseases, the timely prediction and accurate classification of skin lesions are still in demand. Hence, the Discrete Mycorrhizal Search Algorithm is used to optimize the novel LightGBM to meet this objective. Firstly, intrusions like noise elimination and hair removal are performed and then the image resizing takes place by utilizing the preprocessing pipelines. Subsequent to data pre-processing, the prime features are extracted using the convolutional self-attention based L2 regularization, thus minimizing the data complexity. At last, the extracted features are shifted to the final categorization phase which is done by the novel approach for effective classification of skin diseases. Two skin disease classification images, including datasets, the Skin Lesions Dermatoscopic Image dataset and Skin Cancer MNIST HAM10000, are selected to validate the classification performance. Comprehensive analyses are performed with significant measures that showed the proposed model attained better performances of 98.6%, 0.95, and 10.43 s from accuracy, intersection of union, and execution time, respectively. The stability and robustness under different environmental conditions for clinical applications in skin disease detection and classification tasks are analyzed for making decisions in real-time scenarios. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

In serverless computing, the service provider takes full responsibility for function management. However, serverless computing has many challenges regarding data security and function scheduling. To address these challenges, we have proposed a system to secure the data of an end-user. We also aim to meet the quality of service (QoS) for the end-user requests. This work presents a Simulated Annealing-based optimization algorithm for function placement. Also, we have Hyperledger Fabric, a blockchain framework in the system architecture for securing the data of an end-user. We have conducted experiments in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) taking virtual machine instances. The experiments in Amazon EC2 indicate that the proposed system secures the data and enhances the end-user's QoS. © 2025 IEEE.

With growing awareness of privacy protection, Federated Learning (FL) in vehicular network scenarios effectively addresses privacy concerns, leading to the development of Federated Vehicular Networks (FVN). In FVN, vehicles maintain a global model by transmitting local models and iterative processing, resulting in significant communication overhead. In the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), as the majority of the spectrum resources are allocated to Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication, vehicles engaged in FL encounter uplink interference when these resources are reused. This compromises the efficacy of FL vehicle communication. To address this issue, we propose FedCDC, a new Federated learning framework with adaptive weight Clustering with knowledge Distillation and Channel sharing-based resource allocation. First, we implement a communication compression strategy based on clustering and distillation to alleviate transmission load. Then, we develop a resource allocation strategy to maximize the Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) for both FL vehicles and V2V groups, which investigates two critical components: channel pairing and power coordination. We formulate the optimization issue as a multi-objective optimization problem that is solved offline using the MIDACO solver. Due to the dynamic characteristics of FVN, we employ a Multi-Agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MADDPG) to enhance efficiency. Finally, extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach significantly reduces data transmission and offers an efficient resource coordination plan, thus improving FL communication efficiency and ensuring the Quality of Service (QoS) for both V2V groups and FL vehicles. © 2014 IEEE.

Eye gestures are widely used in many applications, including device control, biometrics, visual analytics, and health-care, like Alzheimer's, accessibility, etc. The conventional method for eye gesture detection needs visual information processing devices or smart glasses to capture the movement patterns of the eyeballs. In this paper, we present a novel framework that utilizes inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors embedded in earable devices for real-time eye gesture detection, which can work as a complementary to visual information processing devices. The framework translates specific eye movements into actionable commands, enabling hands-free interaction for users with limited mobility. Through extensive experimentation with 14 participants across diverse activities such as sitting, walking, running, and driving, the framework demonstrated high accuracy in eye gesture recognition, achieving a macro F1 score of 0.85 on our self-collected dataset. © 2025 IEEE.

Application of adaptive guard channel reservation under hard handoff constraint in wireless cellular network

Voice is the king of communication in wireless cellular network (WCN). Again, WCNs provide two types of calls, i.e., new call (NC) and handoff call (HC). Generally, HCs have higher priority than NCs because call dropping gives negative impact to users as compared to call blocking. So, to handle this problem some channels are reserved for HCs. If more channels are reserved for HCs, then handoff call dropping probability (HCDP) decreases at the same time as new call blocking probability (NCBP) increases;if fewer channels are reserved for HCs, HCDP increases and NCBP decreases. If channels are reserved for HCs by considering target HCDP then HCDP will be below the target and NCBP will be minimum for that target. So, keeping this in mind in this paper, we propose a mathematical model that estimates optimal number of guard channels (GCs) for HCs by considering target HCDP and keeping NCBP minimum. The mathematical model proposed assume static traffic parameters. However, in reality, the user traffic is dynamic and usually inherited through its testbed implementation. To obtain optimal performance we propose an adaptive GC reservation scheme by considering hard handoff constraint while implementing this model through testbed. Finally, we have verified testbed results with those of the model-based approach applying the parameters of different Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) standards to evaluate its applicability to real systems. Underwater image enhancement and object detection has great potential for studying underwater environments. It has been utilized in various domains, including image-based underwater monitoring and Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV)-driven applications such as underwater terrain surveying. It has been observed that underwater images are not clear due to several factors such as low light, the presence of small particles, different levels of refraction of light, etc. Extracting high-quality features from these images to detect objects is a significant challenging task. To mitigate this challenge, MIRNet and the modified version of YOLOv3 namely Underwater-YOLOv3 (U-YOLOv3) is proposed. The MIRNet is a deep learning-based technology for enhancing underwater images. while using YOLOv3 for underwater object detection it lacks in detection of very small objects and huge-size objects. To address this problem proper anchor box size, quality feature aggregation technique, and during object classification image resizing is required. The proposed U-YOLOv3 has three unique features that help to work with the above specified issue like accurate anchor box determination using the K-means++ clustering algorithm, introduced Spatial Pyramid Pooling (SPP) layer during feature extraction which helps in feature aggregation, and added downsampling and upsampling to improve the detection rate of very large and very small size objects. The size of the anchor box is crucial in detecting objects of different sizes, SPP helps in aggregation of features, while down and upsampling changes sizes of objects during object detection. Precision, recall, F1-score and mAP are used as assessment metrics to assess proposed work. The proposed work compared with SSD, Tiny-YOLO, YOLOv2, YOLOv3, YOLOv4, YOLOv5, KPE-YOLOv5, YOLOv7, YOLOv8 and YOLOv9 single stage object detectors. Electric vehicles (EVs) offer a promising solution for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing the transportation sector's dependency on non-renewable energy sources. However, efficient energy management poses a significant challenge for their broader adoption, particularly optimizing battery usage, maximizing driving range, and improving overall vehicle performance. This paper presents the state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques used in electric vehicle energy management systems (EV-EMS), discussing a variety of deep learning algorithms of AI methodologies, such as, neural networks, and fuzzy logic. Additionally, This paper discusses the role of auxiliary techniques like transfer learning, which enhances model adaptability and reduces training time in AI-driven EMS applications. Through a systematic analysis of each method, this review identifies key trends, highlights the challenges and limitations of each technique, and offers perspectives on potential solutions and future research directions. The paper aims to support researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers in developing advanced, sustainable, and adaptable EV-EMS solutions that maximize battery life, improve vehicle performance, and facilitate real-time adaptive control.
