As internet use in communication networks has grown, fake news has become a big problem. The misleading heading of the news loses the trust of the reader. Many techniques have emerged, but they fail because fraudsters or exploiters find new ways to deceive them. Semantic analysis and machine learning techniques play a significant role in fake news detection. We must semantically assess terms used in the headline and main content before filtration because words can have different meanings in different contexts. In the paper, a method for determining fake news is introduced by calculating the dissimilarity between the title and content of the news. Vector distance calculators are used to extract semantic dissimilarities, which were then utilized as an additional feature. Initially, Term frequency-inverse document frequency (Tf-Idf) and Mutual Information (MI) are employed for text Feature Extraction (FE) on the ‘title’ and ’content’ of the news articles. Subsequently, four different vector distance calculators are used to extract vector distance-based features. The resulting distance values are used to train various machine learning classifiers, achieving the highest accuracy of 99%. Our method provides a comprehensive analysis by capturing diverse aspects of semantic dissimilarity from various distance calculators. Network updates have become increasingly prevalent since the broad adoption of software-defined networks(SDNs)in data *** TCP designs,including cutting-edge TCP variants DCTCP,CUBIC,and BBR,however,are not resilient to network updates that provoke flow *** this paper,we first demonstrate that popular TCP implementations perform inadequately in the presence of frequent and inconsistent network updates,because inconsistent and frequent network updates result in out-of-order packets and packet drops induced via transitory congestion and lead to serious performance *** look into the causes and propose a network update-friendly TCP(NUFTCP),which is an extension of the DCTCP variant,as a *** are used to assess the proposed *** findings reveal that NUFTCP can more effectively manage the problems of out-of-order packets and packet drops triggered in network updates,and it outperforms DCTCP considerably.

For social and economic development of any region, groundwater plays a very vital role. Surface water infiltration depends on various parameters of the earth. The parameters includes Slope, Geology, Soil Type, Land Use/Land Cover, Rainfall, Drainage Density based on the study area under consideration. There exists various techniques for recognizing of groundwater probable regions. This paper focuses specifically on the recognizing of the subsurface water probable regions by Analytical Hierarchy Process. The steps involved in the process are discussed in detailed and shows how the potential zone identification is based on value of weights evaluated. © 2024 IEEE.

Cloud Computing (CC) is widely adopted in sectors like education, healthcare, and banking due to its scalability and cost-effectiveness. However, its internet-based nature exposes it to cyber threats, necessitating advanced security frameworks. Traditional models suffer from high false positives and limited adaptability. To address these challenges, VECGLSTM, an attack detection model integrating Variable Long Short-Term Memory (VLSTM), capsule networks, and the Enhanced Gannet Optimization Algorithm (EGOA), is introduced. This hybrid approach enhances accuracy, reduces false positives, and dynamically adapts to evolving threats. EGOA is employed for its superior optimization capability, ensuring faster convergence and resilience. Additionally, Chaotic Cryptographic Pelican Tunicate Swarm Optimization (CCPTSO) is proposed for privacy-preserving key management. This model combines chaotic cryptographic techniques with the Pelican Tunicate Swarm Optimization Algorithm (PTSOA), leveraging the pelican algorithm’s exploration strength and the tunicate swarm’s exploitation ability for optimal encryption security. Performance evaluation demonstrates 99.675% accuracy, 99.5175% recall, 99.7075% precision, and 99.615% F1-score, along with reduced training (1.79s), encryption (0.986s), and decryption (1.029s) times. This research significantly enhances CC security by providing a scalable, adaptive framework that effectively counters evolving cyber threats while ensuring efficient key management. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

Hybrid optimization assisted deep ensemble classification framework for skin cancer detection

In 2018, there were 1 million occurrences of non-melanoma cancer and 288,000 occurrences of malignant skin cancer (MM) recorded worldwide. Given the aging of the population and limited resources for medical care, a complete strategy to prevent skin cancer must include both practical detection and accurate diagnosis. Dermatologists and family physicians may find it challenging to identify skin cancer, particularly MM, at an early phase. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a paradigm for skin cancer detection, where pre-processing is the initial step for which median filter (MF) is employed. The pre-processed image undergoes segmentation, which is done by an Improved DBSCAN approach. Once the segmentation is over, features like "GLCM, Local Binary pattern (LBP), Local Vector Pattern (LVP), and Improved Center Symmetric Local Ternary Pattern (CSLTP)" are extracted. This is the final phase, where an ensemble classifier (EC) that combines the models like "Convolutional Neural network (CNN), Long Short Term Memory (LSTM), and Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (Bi-GRU)" is deployed. Further, weights of CNN, Bi-GRU, and LSTM are tuned by Hawks Updated Blue Monkey Algorithm with Gaussian Map Randomness (HUBM-GMR) based hybrid optimization. Job Resumes Recommendation using Integration of Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix Feature Selection and Convolutional Neural Network Multi-label Text Classification

The manual analysis of job resumes poses specific challenges, including the time-intensive process and the high likelihood of human error, emphasizing the need for automation in content-based recommendations. Recent advancements in deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for Multi-label Text Classification (MLTC), offer a promising solution for addressing these challenges through artificial intelligence. While CNN is renowned for its robust feature extraction capabilities, it faces specific challenges such as managing high-dimensional data and poor data interpretability. To address these limitations, this study employs the Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix (FDM) feature selection technique to determine the relevance of skills for each job vacancy. FDM assigns weights to the features of each job category and ranks their relevance based on the highest scores, which are then utilized in the MLTC CNN model. The integration of FDM and MLTC CNN serves as the foundation for generating content-based recommendations derived from key features in job resumes. This study produces a content-based job recommendation system that displays the top three job categories, accompanied by explanations of the skills supporting each selected category. These recommendations also consider cosine similarity values between analyzed items and the integrated results of FDM and MLTC CNN. The application of FDM for feature weighting has been proven to enhance multi-label text classification outcomes by providing better insights during the feature selection process. With a recall of 97.26%, precision of 94.81%, and accuracy of 98.58%, the MLTC model integrating FDM feature selection and CNN demonstrates robust performance characteristics in content-based job recommendation tasks. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. Maximizing aged photovoltaic array power:a computer modelling study

Photovoltaic(PV)modules age with time for various reasons such as corroded joints and terminals and glass coating defects,and their ageing degrades the PV array *** the help of the PV array numerical model,this paper explores the effects of PV module ageing on the PV array power,and the power gains and costs of rearranging and recabling aged PV modules in a PV *** numerical PV array model is first revised to account for module ageing,rearrangement and recabling,with the relevant equations presented *** updated numerical model is then used to obtain the array powers for seven different PV *** power results are then analysed in view of the attributes of the seven PV array examples.A guiding method to recommend recabling after rearranging aged modules is then proposed,leading to further significant power gains,while eliminating intra-row *** certain conditions are met,it was shown that recabling PV modules after rearranging them may lead to further significant power gains,reaching 57%and 98%in two considered PV array *** gains are possible in other arrays.A cost-benefit analysis weighing annual power gains versus estimated recabling costs is also given for the seven considered PV array examples to guide recabling decisions based on technical and economic *** the considered examples,recabling costs can be recovered in<4 *** with the powers of the aged arrays,power gains due to our proposed rearranging and recabling the PV arrays ranged between 73%and 131%in the considered examples—well over the gains reported in the ***,the cost of our static module rearrangement and recabling method outshines the costs of dynamic reconfiguration methods recently published in the literature.

Relay Type Link Fabrication Attack in SDN: A Review

Software-defined Networking (SDN) is an innovative network architecture tailored to address the modern demands of network virtualization and cloud computing, which require features such as programmability, flexibility, agility, and openness to foster innovation. However, this architecture also brings forth new security challenges, particularly due to the separation of the data plane from the control plane. Our investigation centers on a specific vulnerability termed link fabrication, which can lead to topology poisoning. A compromised network topology can cause substantial disruptions across the entire network infrastructure. Through a systematic survey, we identified that significant research efforts have been directed towards mitigating link fabrication attacks. We classified the existing studies into six categories of vulnerabilities: Host-based, port amnesia, invisible assailant attack, topology freezing, switch-based link fabrication, and link latency. Furthermore, our survey highlights several open challenges in areas such as Programmable dataplane, dedicated attack trees and threat models, active defense and mitigation strategies, as well as controller awareness and machine learning. To address the vulnerabilities identified, we propose the implementation of a distance-bounding protocol concept at the control plane as a potential solution. © 2019 IEEE.

Automating skin cancer screening: a deep learning

Skin cancer presents in various forms, including squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and melanoma. Established risk factors include ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure from solar or artificial sources, lighter skin pigmentation, a history of sunburns, and a family history of the disease. Early detection and prompt intervention are crucial for achieving a favorable prognosis. Traditionally, treatment modalities include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Recent advancements in immunotherapy have revolutionized skin cancer diagnosis, but manual identification remains time-consuming. Artificial intelligence (AI) has shown potential in skin cancer classification, leading to automated screening methods. To support dermatologists, we improved the model for classifying images. This model is able to recognize seven different kinds of skin lesions. On the ISIC dataset, an analysis has been done. This study offers a novel approach to early skin cancer diagnosis based on image processing. Our approach leverages the high accuracy of a specific convolutional neural network architecture, utilizing transfer learning with pre-trained data to further enhance detection performance. Our findings demonstrate that the employed ResNet-50 transfer learning model achieves a remarkable accuracy of 97%, while ResNet50 without augmentation gives an accuracy of 81.57% and an F1-score of 75.75%. © The Author(s) 2025.
