This manuscript presents a hybrid method for optimal energy management in smart home appliances. The proposed approach combines the Ebola Optimization Search Algorithm (EOSA) with the performance of spiking neural networks (SNN). The key objective of the proposed strategy is cost reduction through day-ahead load scheduling while also considering the best demand response (DR), and self-consumption of photovoltaic (PV). The EOSA method manages air conditioning (AC) and ensures thermal comfort. In addition, the SNN method was used to predict the optimal system control signal. Comparative analysis with existing systems, such as PSO, RFA, and BCO, showed that the proposed strategy resulted in 13% cost savings. The proposed system considered parameters, such as solar radiation, occupant presence, and electricity prices. The proposed technique is implemented in the MATLAB software, and the performance is compared with existing approaches. The efficiency of the proposed approach is higher than the existing techniques. © 2024 The institute of Electronics and Information Engineers.

Objectives: This work aims to develop an automated video summarising methodology and timestamping that uses natural language processing (NLP) tools to extract significant video ***: The methodology comprises extracting the audio from the video, splitting it into chunks by the size of the pauses, and transcribing the audio using Google's speech recognition. The transcribed text is tokenised to create a summary, sentence and word frequencies are calculated, and the most relevant sentences are selected. The summary quality is assessed using ROUGE criteria, and the most important keywords are extracted from the transcript using ***: Our proposed method successfully extracts key points from video lectures and creates text summaries. Timestamping these key points provides valuable context and facilitates navigation within the lecture. Our method combines video-to-text conversion and text summarisation with timestamping key concepts, offering a novel approach to video lecture analysis. Existing video analysis methods focus on keyword extraction or summarisation, while our method offers a more comprehensive approach. Our timestamped key points provide a unique feature compared to other methods. Our method enhances existing video reports by (i) providing concise summaries of key concepts and (ii) enabling quick access to specific information through timestamps. (iii) Facilitating information retrieval through a searchable index. Further research directions: (i) Improve the accuracy of the multi-stage processing pipeline. (ii) Develop techniques to handle diverse accents and pronunciations. (iii) Explore applications of the proposed method to other video genres and ***/Improvements: This approach is practical in giving accurate video summaries, saving viewers time and effort when comprehending the main concepts presented in a video. © 2024 IEEE.

In this ever-evolving healthcare landscape, with the integration of cutting-edge technology, this study has exemplified a medical chatbot by harnessing the advanced Llama2 model. This chatbot places significant emphasis on instance training by changing and adding the meta, which enables it to continuously adapt and stay updated with the latest medical developments. Its adaptability also encompasses capabilities such as question-answering and mining knowledge from an extensive meta dataset. By leveraging its extensive ability to learn medical terminology, the chatbot provides precise and real-time responses to medical inquiries by establishing itself as a reliable information source. Access to a specially collected meta dataset further enhances its ability to deliver comprehensive medical insights while self-supervised learning techniques enhance the model efficacy. Consequently, this chatbot reshapes the way individuals access precise medical information by enabling a new era of advanced digital healthcare assistants in the digital age. © 2024 IEEE.

We have been witnessing a rapid growth in quantum computing research over the years, with the emergence of demonstrable quantum computers of moderate size. The major issues that are faced to run a quantum algorithm reliably on these systems are: (i) lower qubit coherence period, (ii) noisy primitive gate operations, (iii) limited number of available physical qubits, and (iv) support of restricted set of 2-qubit operations. Overcoming these issues mandates physical resources that exceeds the capabilities of these noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) systems. On the other hand, computation using bare qubits get further disturbed due to the inclusion of additional gates to mitigate the nearest neighbor constraints. In the present work, the 2-dimensional square, heavy-hex and fully hexagonal qubit coupling lattices are considered for mapping quantum circuits. The benefits are assessed in terms of minimal additional gates needed to satisfy the nearest neighbor (NN) constraint and the compilation complexity of mapping circuits on these architectures. From the experiments by mapping benchmark circuits on 16-qubit square and 65-qubit heavy-hex architectures from IBM as well as on a 64-qubit fully hexagonal architecture, it is observed that none of the square or heavy-hex lattice architecture provides uniform compilation advantage compared to the fully hexagonal architecture. It is expected that beyond the NISQ era, strongly connected lattices like hexagonal will become practically feasible. © 2022 Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI). All rights reserved.

Digital transformation is about transforming processes, business models, domains, and culture. Studies show that the failure rate of digital transformation is quite high up to 90%. Studies show that the transformational leadership model has a significant impact on digital transformation adoption. This paper identifies the positive and negative attributes of transformational leadership including the components that support and are affected for successful adoption of digital transformation. Furthermore, the paper combines several findings related to the attributes and components in the form of a conceptual framework. Collaborative Service Provisioning for UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing(MEC), as a way of coping with delaysensitive and computing-intensive tasks, is considered to be a key technology to solving the challenges of terrestrial MEC networks. In this work, we study the problem of collaborative service provisioning(CSP) for UAV-assisted MEC. Specifically, taking into account the task latency and other resource constraints, this paper investigates how to minimize the total energy consumption of all terrestrial user equipments, by jointly optimizing computing resource allocation, task offloading, UAV trajectory, and service placement. The CSP problem is a non-convex mixed integer nonlinear programming problem, owing to the complex coupling of mixed integral variables and non-convexity of CSP. To address the CSP problem, this paper proposes an alternating optimization-based solution with the convergence guarantee as follows. We iteratively deal with the joint service placement and task offloading subproblem, and UAV movement trajectory subproblem, by branch and bound and successive convex approximation, respectively,while the closed form of the optimal computation resource allocation can be efficiently obtained. Extensive simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm compared to three baselines.

The elderly population is increasing rapidly around the world. There are no enough caretakers for them. Use of AI-based in-home medical care systems is gaining momentum due to this. Human fall detection is one of the most important tasks of medical care system for the aged people. Human fall is a common problem among elderly people. Detection of a fall and providing medical help as early as possible is very important to reduce any further complexity. The chances of death and other medical complications can be reduced by detecting and providing medical help as early as possible after the fall. There are many state-of-the-art fall detection techniques available these days, but the majority of them need very high computing power. In this paper, we proposed a lightweight and fast human fall detection system using pose estimation. We used ‘Movenet’ for human joins key-points extraction. Our proposed method can work in real-time on any low-computing device with any basic camera. All computation can be processed locally, so there is no problem of privacy of the subject. We used two datasets ‘GMDCSA’ and ‘URFD’ for the experiment. We got the sensitivity value of 0.9375 and 0.9167 for the dataset ‘GMDCSA’ and ‘URFD’ respectively.
