The annotation of Open Reading Frames (ORFs) is a crucial step in gene annotation, as it precisely delineates the specific regions of expressed genes. However, small Open Reading Frames (smORFs), in comparison to ORFs, are shorter in length, exhibit lower expression abundance, and are more challenging to predict. Particularly in the presence of noise in prokaryotic data and limited availability of positive sample data, the difficulty of prediction is amplified. Therefore, it is necessary to study smORF prediction methods. However, current machine learning models use limited data for modeling and overlook the existence of undiscovered positive samples within the negative samples. Additionally, they do not incorporate prior knowledge that can be calibrated to enhance the 3-nt periodicity. This work utilizes a multimodal VAE for data dimensionality reduction and employs a GAN to generate latent vectors for data augmentation. It incorporates PU learning to leverage unknown samples and combines Riboseq data from experiments with and without antibiotic treatment. Additionally, an adversarial training mechanism is employed to enhance the model's robustness. © 2023 IEEE.

Regenerating codes are new network codes proposed to reduce the data required for fault repair, which can improve the recovery efficiency of faulty nodes in data storage systems. However, unlike Reed-Solomon code, which repairs at the granularity of bytes, regenerating codes require data stored in large chunks but leads to severe read amplification, which reads out excess data when degraded read objects and increases degraded read time. That reflects a mutual constraint between improving recovery efficiency and degraded read performance, as manifested in the amplification of data reads, a vital issue considered in this *** solve this problem, we propose a new type of data layout - discrete geometric, which splits the object into a series of geometric sequences of data blocks. They are placed discretely into corresponding containers on the disks at different nodes, with containers of the same size made into a strip for encoding. The discrete characteristic ensures lower repair costs for degraded reads. The geometric characteristic ensures the repair performance of regenerating codes by large blocks, and read amplification can be mitigated through small blocks. To reduce IOPS for discrete geometric, we propose Discrete Geometric-Locally Regenerating Codes (DG-LRCs), guaranteeing lower degraded read latency while improving recovery *** results show that the degraded read time of DG-LRCs compared to regenerating codes combined with geometric partitioning is 22.56% lower at 2Gbpsand 60.56% lower at 4Gbps, and the recovery performance is 7.04 times better than that of RS code. © 2023 IEEE.

Federated learning (FL) has emerged as a prominent machine learning paradigm in edge computing environments, enabling edge devices to collaboratively optimize a global model without sharing their private data. However, existing FL frameworks suffer from efficacy deterioration due to the system heterogeneity inherent in edge computing, especially in the presence of domain shifts across local data. In this paper, we propose a heterogeneous FL framework DapperFL, to enhance model performance across multiple domains. In DapperFL, we introduce a dedicated Model Fusion Pruning (MFP) module to produce personalized compact local models for clients to address the system heterogeneity challenges. The MFP module prunes local models with fused knowledge obtained from both local and remaining domains, ensuring robustness to domain shifts. Additionally, we design a Domain Adaptive Regularization (DAR) module to further improve the overall performance of DapperFL. The DAR module employs regularization generated by the pruned model, aiming to learn robust representations across domains. Furthermore, we introduce a specific aggregation algorithm for aggregating heterogeneous local models with tailored architectures and weights. We implement DapperFL on a real-world FL platform with heterogeneous clients. Experimental results on benchmark datasets with multiple domains demonstrate that DapperFL outperforms several state-of-the-art FL frameworks by up to 2.28%, while significantly achieving model volume reductions ranging from 20% to 80%. Sharing the hardware platform between diverse information systems to establish full cooperation among different functionalities has attracted substantial ***,broadband multifunctional integrated systems with large operating frequency ranges are challenging due to the bandwidth and computing speed restrictions of electronic ***,we report an analog parallel processor(APP)based on the silicon photonic platform that directly discretizes and parallelizes the broadband signal in the analog *** APP first discretizes the signal with the optical frequency comb and then adopts optical dynamic phase interference to reassign the analog signal into 2N parallel *** photonic analog parallelism,data rate and data volume in each sequence are simultaneously compressed,which mitigates the requirement on each parallel computing ***,the fusion of the outputs from each computing core is equivalent to directly processing broadband *** the proof-of-concept experiment,two-channel analog parallel processing of broadband radar signals and high-speed communication signals is implemented on the single photonic integrated *** bandwidth of broadband radar signal is 6 GHz and the range resolution of 2.69 cm is *** wireless communication rate of 8 Gbit/s is also *** the bandwidth and speed limitations of the single-computing core along with further exploring the multichannel potential of this architecture,we anticipate that the proposed APP will accelerate the development of powerful optoelectronic processors as critical support for applications such as satellite networks and intelligent driving.

To enhance the privacy of messages in Internet of Vehicles (IoVs), it is critical to preserve the communication security between Road Side Unit (RSU) and numerous vehicles. The primitive of signcryption is introduced to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity and unforgeability of transmitted messages. Nevertheless, the existing signcryption schemes fail to achieve a balance between security and efficiency. In this paper, we construct a Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) empowered certificateless aggregate signcryption scheme with key agreement (CASKA-CRT). As the vehicle joins and leaves dynamically, the proposed scheme can ensure the dynamic security via one modulo division operation. Besides, the certificateless aggregate signcryption and key agreement mechanisms are embedded. The former idea can both address the certificate management and key escrow problems, while the latter technology can create authentication as a premise of secure communication. Based on this construction, the hash-to-group operation and bilinear pairing are avoided, to realize a faster verification with the increased number of messages. Moreover, the security of proposed scheme is proved under the random oracle model. Finally, the performance analysis demonstrates the advantage of CASKA-CRT in terms of security and reliability over related works. IEEE

Early detection of lung cancer, liver cancer (HCC), and pancreatitis is crucial for effective treatment. This study assessed the use of laser guidance CT scans for diagnosis and staging. 26 patients of CT scan which were collected from BVH and civil hospital Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Visible light with a 405 nm wavelength is used. Results showed staging of lung cancer (2 at stage 1, 2 at stage 2, 3 at stage 4) and HCC (stages 1 to 4a). Pancreatic diseases detected included acute pancreatitis (44%), chronic pancreatitis (22%), gallstones (22%), and pancreatic tumors (11%). Alkaline phosphatase, SGOT, and blood urea levels were notably elevated in all three cancers compared to controls. CT scans show promise in identifying cancer stages and diagnosing pancreatitis, aiding in tailored treatment. Statistical analysis shows that alkaline phosphatase emerges as a potential biomarker for these conditions. ©2025 Old City Publishing, Inc.

Traditional 3D shape reconstruction techniques from multi-view images, such as structure from motion and multi-view stereo, face challenges in reconstructing transparent objects. Recent advances in neural radiance fields and its variants primarily address opaque or transparent objects, encountering difficulties to reconstruct both transparent and opaque objects simultaneously. This paper introduces α-NeuS-an extension of NeuS-that proves NeuS is unbiased for materials from fully transparent to fully opaque. We find that transparent and opaque surfaces align with the non-negative local minima and the zero iso-surface, respectively, in the learned distance field of NeuS. Traditional iso-surfacing extraction algorithms, such as marching cubes, which rely on fixed iso-values, are ill-suited for such data. We develop a method to extract the transparent and opaque surface simultaneously based on DCUDF. To validate our approach, we construct a benchmark that includes both real-world and synthetic scenes, demonstrating its practical utility and effectiveness. With the ongoing advancements in science and technology and the increasing research focus on cancer-related issues, there has been a proliferation of omics-related resources for in-depth analysis and exploration. This burgeoning volume and complexity of biological data have fostered the integration of machine-learning techniques into biology. As a result, numerous machine-learning strategies have been established to identify driver mutations. Yet, many of these strategies produce complex models, complicating comprehension and thereby clouding the impact of input features on the resulting predictions. Our analysis presented the CIXG framework, which integrates a driver gene prediction module using XGBoost with a causality interpretation module anchored on CXPlain. This architecture enables quantifying each input feature's contribution to the prediction outcome and ensures precise predictions of driver genes. When benchmarked against the state-of-the-art (SOTA) method, CIXG demonstrated superior accuracy in pinpointing driver genes across pan-cancer studies and within the 32 specific cancer types. Importantly, our results underscored that mutation features chiefly influence CIXG's predictive prowess, with additional support from other omics features. © 2024 IEEE.
