Person Re-Identification falls within the scope of computer vision, acting a technique to ascertain the presence of a specified pedestrian within a video or image library. The related research is of great significance in real-world environments such as criminal investigation and statistical analysis of commercial foot traffic and has received extensive attention from the academic community. However, traditional methods such as manual extraction cannot adapt to large-scale data volumes, and deep learning-based methods at this stage suffer from interference in complex environments such as similar costumes, perspective changes, and occlusion. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the above problems. Firstly, we expand the dataset by introducing random erasure-based preprocessing of pedestrian images to enhancing the robustness and generalization capability of neural networks. Secondly, a composite attention mechanism is introduced after the network residual layer to enhance the spatial information capability and feature expression. Finally, the union loss composed of Circle Loss, Ternary Loss, and Cross Entropy Loss was chosen for network training in the loss optimization phase. Findings from the experiments reveal that the improved method proposed in this experiment achieves 96.0%Rank-1 and 88.3%mAP in Market1501, which reflects the validity of the approach proposed in this manuscript, and provides valuable reference suggestions for Person Re-Identification related research. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). Impact of transfer learning compared to convolutional neural networks on fruit detection

Smart farming, also known as precision agriculture or digital farming, is an innovative approach to agriculture that utilizes advanced technologies and data-driven techniques to optimize various aspects of farming operations. One smart farming activity, fruit classification, has broad applications and impacts across agriculture, food production, health, research, and environmental conservation. Accurate and reliable fruit classification benefits various stakeholders, from farmers and food producers to consumers and conservationists. In this study, we conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis to assess the performance of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model in conjunction with four transfer learning models: VGG16, ResNet50, MobileNet-V2, and EfficientNet-B0. Models are trained once on a benchmark dataset called Fruits360 and another time on a reduced version of it to study the effect of data size and image processing on fruit classification performance. The original dataset reported accuracy scores of 95%, 93%, 99.8%, 65%, and 92.6% for these models, respectively. While accuracy increased when trained on the reduced dataset for three of the employed models. This study provides valuable insights into the performance of various deep learning models and dataset versions, offering guidance on model selection and data preprocessing strategies for image classification tasks. © 2024-IOS Press. Multiple-event-triggered adaptive fuzzy output-feedback control for MIMO uncertain nonlinear systems

The article addresses the output-feedback control issue for a class of multi-input multi-output(MIMO)uncertain nonlinear systems with multiple event-triggered mechanisms(ETM).Compared to previous event-triggering studies,this paper aims to trigger both the output and filtered *** nonlinear dynamics are approximated using fuzzy logic systems(FLSs).Then,a novel kind of state observer has been designed to deal with unmeasurable state problems using the triggered output *** sampled estimated state,the triggered output signal,and the filtered signal are utilized to propose an event-triggering mechanism that consists of sensor-to-observer(SO)and observer-to-controller(OC).An event-triggered output feedback control approach is given inside backstepping control,whereby the filter may be employed to circumvent the issue of the virtual control function not being differentiable at the trigger *** is testified that,according to the Lyapunov stability analysis scheme,all closed-loop signals and the system output are ultimately uniformly constrained by our control ***,the simulation examples are performed to confirm the theoretical findings.

Breast Cancer (BC) remains a significant health challenge for women and is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Accurate diagnosis is critical for successful therapy and increased survival rates. Recent advances in medical imaging and computational technologies have enabled more precise methods of detecting and evaluating breast cancer. Accurate analysis and diagnosis utilizing medical imaging have developed as essential research topics, providing important help in clinical decision-making for various illnesses, including breast cancer. Machine learning (ML) can accurately predict breast cancer. But the breast cancer data has vague and uncertainty information. So, the neutrosophic sets (NSs) are used in this study to deal with uncertainty data. We convert the original dataset into neutrosophic data with three components such as truth, indeterminacy, and falsity values. Then we applied four ML models with N-data such as logistic regression, gradient boosting (GB), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), and support vector machines (SVM), to improve diagnostic accuracy. Then we compared the ML models with and without using N-data. The results show the logistic regression has higher accuracy with 98.6% with the N-data and 95.80% without N-data. Farm-Level Smart Crop Recommendation Framework Using Machine Learning

Agriculture is the primary source of food, fuel, and raw materials and is vital to any country’s economy. Farmers, the backbone of agriculture, primarily rely on instinct to determine what crops to plant in any given season. They are comfortable following customary farming practices and standards and are oblivious to the fact that crop yield is highly dependent on current environmental and soil conditions. Crop recommendations involve multifaceted factors such as weather, soil quality, crop production, market demand, and prices, making it crucial for farmers to make well-informed decisions. An improper or imprudent crop recommendation can affect them, their families, and the entire agricultural sector. Modern technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science have emerged as efficient solutions to combat issues like declining crop production and lower profits. This research proposes a Smart Crop Recommendation framework that leverages machine learning to empower farmers to make informed decisions about optimal crop selection. The framework consists of two phases: crop filtration and yield prediction. Crops are filtered in the first phase using an artificial neural network based on local input parameters. The second phase estimates yield for filtered crops, considering the season, farm area, and location data. The final recommendation provides farmers with crops aimed at maximizing profit. The remarkable 99.10% accuracy of the framework is demonstrated through experimentation using artificial neural networks and the 0.99 R2 error metric for the random forest. The uniqueness of this framework lies in its distinctive focus on the farm level and its consideration of the challenges and various agricultural features that change over time. The experimental results affirm the effectiveness of the framework, and its lightweight nature enhances its practicality, making it an efficient real-time recommendation solution. © The Author(s), under exclusi

Intrusion detection systems(IDS)are one of the most promising ways for securing data and networks;In recent decades,IDS has used a variety of categorization *** classifiers,on the other hand,do not work effectively unless they are combined with additional algorithms that can alter the classifier’s parameters or select the optimal sub-set of features for the *** are used in tandem with classifiers to increase the stability and with efficiency of the classifiers in detecting *** algorithms,on the other hand,have a number of limitations,particularly when used to detect new types of *** this paper,the NSL KDD dataset and KDD Cup 99 is used to find the performance of the proposed classifier model and compared;These two IDS dataset is preprocessed,then Auto Cryptographic Denoising(ACD)adopted to remove noise in the feature of the IDS dataset;the classifier algorithms,K-Means and Neural network classifies the dataset with adam *** classifier is evaluated by measuring performance measures like f-measure,recall,precision,detection rate and *** neural network obtained the highest classifying accuracy as 91.12%with drop-out function that shows the efficiency of the classifier model with drop-out function for KDD Cup99 *** their power and limitations in the proposed methodology that could be used in future works in the IDS area.

Generating Long Financial Report Using Conditional Variational Autoencoders With Knowledge Distillation

Generating financial reports from a piece of news is a challenging task due to the lack of sufficient background knowledge to effectively generate long financial reports. To address this issue, this article proposes a conditional variational autoencoders (CVAEs)-based approach that distills external knowledge from a set of news-report data. Specifically, we design an encoder-decoder architecture to learn the latent variable distribution from this set of news-report data to provide background knowledge. Next, a teacher-student network is employed to distill knowledge to refine the output of the decoder component. To evaluate the model performance, extensive experiments have been performed on two public datasets using evaluation criteria like BLEU, ROUGE, METEOR, and human evaluation. Our promising experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms existing state-of-the-art approaches. © 2020 IEEE.

Privacy-preserving k-nearest neighbor (PPkNN) classification for multiple clouds enables categorizing queried data into a class in keeping with data privacy, where the database and key servers jointly perform cryptographic operations. The existing solutions, unfortunately, take a long time and incur a large amount of traffic between the database and key servers. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a fast and secure kNN classification protocol, namely FSkNN, over distributed databases deployed in multiple clouds under the semi-honest model. Particularly, we focus on optimizing the network-related operations during kNN classification. That is, the proposed cryptographic protocol reduces the number of interactions between the servers by using a fully homomorphic encryption scheme and eliminates unnecessary traffic by applying mathematical techniques. In addition, the indistinguishability-based security of FSkNN is proven. We implemented FSkNN with C++ and the testbed experiments demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly facilitates the query response time and reduces the communication cost. © 2013 IEEE.

Optimizing Performance in Wireless Sensor Networks through a Multi-Objective Rendezvous Points Selection Algorithm

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) play a vital role in modern research and applications due to their potential to gather data from various environments. Because sensor nodes (SNs) within WSNs have limited battery life, those in close proximity to the sink often experience rapid power depletion, leading to the emergence of hotspot issues. To address this, the concept of a mobile sink (MS) has emerged as a potential solution, effectively mitigating power usage in SNs and thereby extending the network’s overall lifespan. Furthermore, many sensor-based applications necessitate specific data collection timeframes, underscoring the necessity of effective strategies. Leveraging rendezvous points (RPs) to enhance network efficiency becomes imperative in enabling the MS to efficiently collect data from all SNs within designated time periods. A sophisticated cost function is employed to strategically determine RPs, considering multiple factors that influence the efficacy of each RP. This process culminates in the selection of RPs, optimizing for the longest path with minimal delays. Through the proposed hybrid mobile vehicle (HMV) method, compared against the prevailing MOOVor method, significant enhancements are observed in terms of sensor coverage and reduced hop count within the network. © 2024 by the authors of this article.

Improved Infrared Road Object Detection Algorithm Based on Attention Mechanism in YOLOv8

In Currently, research in the field of infrared road object detection is primarily focused on enhancing model performance and robustness to address the challenges posed by complex real-world driving scenarios. In response to these challenges, this paper proposes an infrared road object detection algorithm based on an attention mechanism. By incorporating the CPCA module, which utilizes attention mechanisms, into the YOLOv8s model, the algorithm enhances the model’s focus on unobstructed areas and highly illuminated sections, extracting crucial feature information to improve both accuracy and robustness. Additionally, the original model’s downsampling layer is replaced with the Context Grided Network Block Downsampling (CGBD) module, which not only preserves feature edge information but also effectively handles local and contextual features, thereby enhancing the overall feature capturing capabilities of the model. To address the issue of equal aspect ratios in the model’s original loss function, the proposed algorithm adopts the superior Weighted Intersection over Union (WIoU). This not only addresses the shortcomings of the original loss function (CIoU) but also demonstrates increased sensitivity in classification tasks. Experimental results show that the improved algorithm, compared to YOLOv8s, achieves a 1.4% increase in mean average precision (mAP), along with notable improvements in precision and recall. Furthermore, when compared to mainstream model algorithms, the enhanced model significantly outperforms in infrared road object detection tasks, providing validation of its effectiveness. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers).
