Due to the inherent insecure nature of the Internet,it is crucial to ensure the secure transmission of image data over this ***,given the limitations of computers,it becomes evenmore important to employ efficient and fast image encryption *** 1D chaotic maps offer a practical approach to real-time image encryption,their limited flexibility and increased vulnerability restrict their practical *** this research,we have utilized a 3DHindmarsh-Rosemodel to construct a secure *** randomness of the chaotic map is assessed through standard *** proposed system enhances security by incorporating an increased number of system parameters and a wide range of chaotic parameters,as well as ensuring a uniformdistribution of chaotic signals across the entire value ***,a fast image encryption technique utilizing the new chaotic system is *** novelty of the approach is confirmed through time complexity *** further strengthen the resistance against cryptanalysis attacks and differential attacks,the SHA-256 algorithm is employed for secure key *** results through a number of parameters demonstrate the strong cryptographic performance of the proposed image encryption approach,highlighting its exceptional suitability for secure ***,the security of the proposed scheme has been compared with stateof-the-art image encryption schemes,and all comparison metrics indicate the superior performance of the proposed scheme.

Micro-expressions are spontaneous,rapid and subtle facial movements that can hardly be suppressed or ***-expression recognition(MER)is one of the most challenging topics in affective *** aims to recognize subtle facial movements which are quite difficult for humans to perceive in a fleeting ***,many deep learning-based MER methods have been ***,how to effectively capture subtle temporal variations for robust MER still perplexes *** propose a counterfactual discriminative micro-expression recognition(CoDER)method to effectively learn the slight temporal variations for video-based *** explicitly capture the causality from temporal dynamics hidden in the micro-expression(ME)sequence,we propose ME counterfactual reasoning by comparing the effects of the facts *** ME sequences and the counterfactuals ***-revised ME sequences,and then perform causality-aware prediction to encourage the model to learn those latent ME temporal *** experiments on four widely-used ME databases demonstrate the effectiveness of CoDER,which results in comparable and superior MER performance compared with that of the state-of-the-art *** visualization results show that CoDER successfully perceives the meaningful temporal variations in sequential faces.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of global mortality, diagnosed primarily through costly imaging modalities which are often overused in asymptomatic patients. Our project aims to develop an AI-based solution for CVD risk stratification using routine blood biomarkers, serving as a pre-imaging test. We used anonymized data from over 500,000 UK Biobank (UKB) patients with CVD assessments. Initially, 701 features including demographics, blood tests, medical conditions, and clinical assessments were selected. The UKB dataset was refined using an automated data curation pipeline to deal with outliers, duplicated fields, and missing values. Then, a hybrid XGBoost classifier was employed, with a scalable loss function, to address overfitting effects during the training process, yielding 0.83 accuracy, 0.82 sensitivity, and 0.84 specificity in diagnosing CVD comorbidities. Key biomarkers identified included blood pressure, BMI, and age. To our knowledge, this is the first case study which utilizes the UKB data towards the identification of cost-effective CVD (non-imaging) risk factors, thus reducing the reliance on imaging modalities. © 2024 IEEE.

Face recognition (FR) technology has numerous applications in artificial intelligence including biometrics, security,authentication, law enforcement, and surveillance. Deep learning (DL) models, notably convolutional neuralnetworks (CNNs), have shown promising results in the field of FR. However CNNs are easily fooled since theydo not encode position and orientation correlations between features. Hinton et al. envisioned Capsule Networksas a more robust design capable of retaining pose information and spatial correlations to recognize objects morelike the brain does. Lower-level capsules hold 8-dimensional vectors of attributes like position, hue, texture, andso on, which are routed to higher-level capsules via a new routing by agreement algorithm. This provides capsulenetworks with viewpoint invariance, which has previously evaded CNNs. This research presents a FR model basedon capsule networks that was tested using the LFW dataset, COMSATS face dataset, and own acquired photos usingcameras measuring 128 × 128 pixels, 40 × 40 pixels, and 30 × 30 pixels. The trained model outperforms state-ofthe-art algorithms, achieving 95.82% test accuracy and performing well on unseen faces that have been blurred orrotated. Additionally, the suggested model outperformed the recently released approaches on the COMSATS facedataset, achieving a high accuracy of 92.47%. Based on the results of this research as well as previous results, capsulenetworks perform better than deeper CNNs on unobserved altered data because of their special equivarianceproperties.

Cancers have emerged as a significant concern due to their impact on public health and society. The examination and interpretation of tissue sections stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) play a crucial role in disease assessment, particularly in cases like gastric cancer. Microsatellite instability (MSI) is suggested to contribute to the carcinogenesis of specific gastrointestinal tumors. However, due to the nonspecific morphology observed in H&E-stained tissue sections, MSI determination often requires costly evaluations through various molecular studies and immunohistochemistry methods in specialized molecular pathology laboratories. Despite the high cost, international guidelines recommend MSI testing for gastrointestinal cancers. Thus, there is a pressing need for a new diagnostic modality with lower costs and widespread applicability for MSI detection. This study aims to detect MSI directly from H&E histology slides in gastric cancer, providing a cost-effective alternative. The performance of well-known deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and a proposed architecture are compared. medical image datasets are typically smaller than benchmark datasets like ImageNet, necessitating the use of off-the-shelf DCNN architectures developed for large datasets through techniques such as transfer learning. Designing an architecture proportional to a custom dataset can be tedious and may not yield desirable results. In this work, we propose an automatic method to extract a lightweight and efficient architecture from a given heavy architecture (e.g., well-known off-the-shelf DCNNs) proportional to a specific dataset. To predict MSI instability, we extracted the MicroNet architecture from the Xception network using the proposed method and compared its performance with other well-known architectures. Heart failure (HF) is a complex syndrome that is affected by many factors and causes. It is crucial to early recognize the disease subtypes and the unidentified clinical pathways that give rise to it. Machine learning (ML) is the tool that assist to deal with these challenges and improve the prediction of HF. In this work, the HF risk prediction was implemented by employed ML classifiers, such as Random Forest (RF), Extreme Grading Boosting (XGBoost) and Light Gradient-Boosting Machine (LGBM). We utilized the data from the German epidemiological trial on ankle brachial index - getABI cohort, which includes 6,454 patients. The performance of classifiers was estimated by Accuracy (ACC), Sensitivity, Specificity and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) in mean values for each ML classifier. The results were also interpreted using the Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) approach, the Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) values. Our work reveals that LGBM classifier predict the HF risk within 5 years follow-up in general population with 68 % accuracy. Moreover, the N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) was identified as the most important feature for HF risk prediction. © 2024 IEEE.
