In environmental acoustics, sound propagates in open air and can be mathematically modelled in terms of a semi-infinite domain. The calculations for accurate numerical solutions for outdoor acoustics are computationally heavy when the chosen computation domain is large enough to fulfil the Sommerfeld radiation condition. To lower the computational cost, the domain must therefore be truncated to not significantly impact the numerical solution inside the domain and allow outgoing acoustic waves to leave the domain undisturbed. Various radiation conditions (sometimes considering the wind) have been developed to achieve this goal such as the Perfectly Matched Layer method. The aim of this study is to compare the accuracy of different non-reflecting boundaries using the high-order nodal discontinuous Galerkin finite element method (DG-FEM) for the case of an acoustic pulse propagating in a static and moving medium in an unstructured mesh. For each boundary treatment, the tunable parameters of the methods are defined to balance accuracy and computational cost. © 2023 S.J. Feriani et al. In recent years, the edge computing paradigm enables the movement of processing units and storage nearer to the data available locations. The mechanism completes the computation in a short span of time in minimum bandwidth. Edge ecosystem is a type of distributed computing that is sensitive to topology and geography; the Internet of Things is a prime instance of this. Rather than referring to a single technology, Edge computing refers to an architecture. This paper proposes a resource allocation methodology that will enliven the situation between users and edge servers. By creating continuous control at the edge servers to determine resource allocation, edge computing improves reaction time, provides high security with decreased risk, scalability, lowers transmission costs, and versatility (offload targets, migration bandwidth and computing resources). The Deterministic Policy Gradient, Deep learning and Quality Network concepts are combined in the proposed system. The continuous action space is achieved by a deterministic policy gradient. The experience relay includes a quality network. In the proposed system, the actor-critic network produces a single continuous action instead of resulting probability based actions. The critic-part uses Q-value from a quality network based on current status and activity. The goal of the proposed system is to develop a Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient methodology to allocate servers for mobile users with the help of the Edge computing while taking computation resources, offloading goals and migration bandwidth into consideration. The simulation result indicates that deterministic policy gradients integrated deep learning models improve the system performance compared with Game theory.

Deep learning (DL) has demonstrated several successes in a variety of fields, particularly in the era of big data. The process of training a deep learning model entails selecting the ideal learning parameters such as the number of hidden layers and neurons. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is one useful nature-inspired algorithm to set those two influential learning parameters. In this study, two different datasets are used to study and evaluate the particle swarm optimizer with deep learning on datasets of different concentrations of poisoning attack, where some adversarial samples were crafted by attackers to ruin the learning process. The results showed that particle swarm optimization could find settings for deep learning with the existence of poisoned data that maximizes the model accuracy on the unseen testing dataset, and could also offer better recommendations compared to those recommended on all benign samples. This may introduce a concern that optimizers might conceal the existence of data poisoning, which may lead to unreliable learning in the advanced stages of upgrading the model on updated datasets. © 2022 IEEE.

In order to meet the pressing demand for early diagnosis in healthcare, we proposed a unique hybrid architecture in this study that is intended for the categorization of gastrointestinal (GI) illnesses. With fewer trainable parameters, faster training times, and less storage needed for model weights, our suggested architecture prioritizes efficiency achieves an impressive 94% accuracy. To effectively diagnose GI disorders, this design combines convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with Transformers. The creation of this hybrid architecture, which boasts excellent accuracy in illness categorization, decreased storage requirements, and efficiency in training, is one of the research's accomplishments. Our proposed model demonstrates its flexibility for many uses, encouraging simple implementation and expandability. Extensive tests performed on a large dataset of endoscopic images highlight our hybrid architecture's better performance over current techniques. With this study, diagnostics for gastrointestinal diseases have advanced significantly, opening the door to future diagnostic systems that will be more precise and effective. The proposed architecture has outperformed the traditional pre-trained models both in classification accuracy and time to train the model with no weights.

This study proposes a new prairie dog optimization algorithm version called EPDO. This new version aims to address the issues of premature convergence and slow convergence that were observed in the original PDO algorithm. To improve performance, several modifications are introduced in EPDO. First, a dynamic opposite learning strategy is employed to increase the diversity of the population and prevent premature convergence. This strategy helps the algorithm avoid falling into local optima and promotes global optimization. Additionally, the Lévy dynamic random walk technique is utilized in EPDO. This modified Lévy flight with random walk reduces the algorithm’s running time for the test function’s ideal value, accelerating its convergence. The proposed approach is evaluated using 33 benchmark problems from CEC 2017 and compared against seven other comparative techniques: GWO, MFO, ALO, WOA, DA, SCA, and RSA. Numerical results demonstrate that EPDO produces good outcomes and performs well in solving benchmark problems. To further validate the results and assess reliability, the authors employ average rank tests, the measurement of alternatives, and ranking according to the compromise solution (MARCOS) method, as well as a convergence report of EPDO and other algorithms. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the EPDO algorithm is demonstrated by applying it to five design problems. The results indicate that EPDO achieves impressive outcomes and proves its capability to address practical issues. The algorithm performs well in solving benchmark and practical design problems, as supported by the numerical results and validation methods used in the study. © The Author(s) 2024.

Fruit diseases seriously affect the production of the agricultural sector,which builds financial pressure on the country’s *** manual inspection of fruit diseases is a chaotic process that is both time and cost-consuming since it involves an accurate manual inspection by an ***,it is essential that an automated computerised approach is developed to recognise fruit diseases based on leaf *** to the literature,many automated methods have been developed for the recognition of fruit diseases at the early ***,these techniques still face some challenges,such as the similar symptoms of different fruit diseases and the selection of irrelevant *** processing and deep learning techniques have been extremely successful in the last decade,but there is still room for improvement due to these ***,we propose a novel computerised approach in this work using deep learning and featuring an ant colony optimisation(ACO)based *** proposed method consists of four fundamental steps:data augmentation to solve the imbalanced dataset,fine-tuned pretrained deep learning models(NasNetMobile andMobileNet-V2),the fusion of extracted deep features using matrix length,and finally,a selection of the best features using a hybrid ACO and a Neighbourhood Component Analysis(NCA).The best-selected features were eventually passed to many classifiers for final *** experimental process involved an augmented dataset and achieved an average accuracy of 99.7%.Comparison with existing techniques showed that the proposed method was effective.

We use a density-based topology optimization approach to design dualband planar metallic antennas. The design problem is formulated based on the time-domain Maxwell's equations, solved using the finite-difference timedomain (FDTD) method. The antenna design is formulated as an optimization problem where the received and reflected energy by the antenna in two frequency bands, centered around 2.5 GHz and 5.5 GHz, are optimized. Two design examples that exhibit outstanding performance are presented. In one design case, we employ a nonlinear filtering scheme to impose size control on the optimized design and ensure manufacturability.

A Hybrid Approach for COVID-19 Detection: Combining Wasserstein GAN with Transfer Learning

Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has abruptly and undoubtedly changed the world as we know it at the end of the 2nd decade of the 21st century. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and its rapid growth has drawn attention towards its early diagnosis. Early diagnosis of COVID-19 enables health care professionals and government authorities to break the chain of transition and flatten the epidemic curve. With the number of cases accelerating across the developed world, COVID-19 induced Viral Pneumonia cases is a big challenge. Overlapping of COVID-19 cases with Viral Pneumonia and other lung infections with limited dataset and long training hours is a serious problem to cater. Limited amount of data often results in over- fitting models and due to this reason, model does not predict generalized results. To fill this gap, we proposed GAN based approach to synthesize images which later fed in to the deep learning models to classify images of COVID-19, Normal, and Viral Pneumonia. Specifically, customized Wasserstein GAN is proposed to generate 19% more Chest X-ray images as compare to the real images. This expanded dataset is then used to train four proposed deep learning models: VGG-16, ResNet-50, GoogLeNet and MNAST. The result showed that expanded dataset utilized deep learning models to deliver high classification accuracies. In particular, VGG-16 achieved highest accuracy of 99.17% among all four proposed schemes. Rest of the models like ResNet-50, GoogLeNet and MNAST delivered 93.9%, 94.49% and 97.75% testing accuracies respectively. Later, the efficiency of these models is compared with the state of art models on the basis of accuracy. Traditional control methods may struggle to adapt to the nonlinear and uncertain characteristics in Autonomous Vehicle Control. In recent years, fuzzy control techniques, such as the Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy controller, have emerged as promising approaches for handling such complexities. Fuzzy controllers utilize linguistic variables and fuzzy logic to model system behavior, offering flexibility and robustness in dealing with uncertainties. Furthermore, Lyapunov function analysis provides a powerful tool for assessing the stability of dynamical systems. By employing Lyapunov functions, researchers can mathematically prove the stability of a system and derive stability criteria, contributing to a deeper understanding of system behavior. This paper investigates the enhancement of stability in control systems by employing Fuzzy Gain Scheduling combined with Lyapunov function analysis. Stability is a crucial aspect of control systems, ensuring their reliable and efficient operation in various dynamic environments. Traditional control techniques often struggle to handle the nonlinear and uncertain nature of modern systems. FGS offers a flexible and adaptive approach to control by adjusting controller gains based on system operating conditions. Additionally, Lyapunov function analysis provides a rigorous mathematical framework for stability assessment, enabling the verification of system stability properties. By integrating FGS and Lyapunov function analysis, this research aims to develop a robust control strategy capable of ensuring stability across a range of operating conditions. Simulation and experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in enhancing stability and performance in control systems. Specifically, the settling time was reduced by 20%, and overshoot was minimized to 5% of the steady-state value.
