The Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)is wreaking havoc around the world,bring out that the enormous pressure on national health and medical staff *** of the most effective and critical steps in the fight against COVID-19,is to examine the patient’s lungs based on the Chest X-ray and CT generated by radiation *** this paper,five keras-related deep learning models:ResNet50,InceptionResNetV2,Xception,transfer learning and pre-trained VGGNet16 is applied to formulate an classification-detection approaches of *** benchmark methods SVM(Support Vector Machine),CNN(Conventional Neural Networks)are provided to compare with the classification-detection approaches based on the performance indicators,i.e.,precision,recall,F1 scores,confusion matrix,classification accuracy and three types of AUC(Area Under Curve).The highest classification accuracy derived by classification-detection based on 5857 Chest X-rays and 767 Chest CTs are respectively 84%and 75%,which shows that the keras-related deep learning approaches facilitate accurate and effective COVID-19-assisted detection.

Seasonal characteristics analysis and uncertainty measurement for wind speed time series

Wind speed’s distribution nature such as uncertainty and randomness imposes a challenge in high accuracy forecasting. Based on the energy distribution about the extracted amplitude and associated frequency, the uncertainty measurement is processed through Rényi entropy analysis method with time-frequency nat-ure. Nonparametric statistical method is used to test the randomness of wind speed, more precisely, whether or not the wind speed time series is independent and iden-tically distribution (i.i.d) based on the output probability. Seasonal characteristics of wind speed are analyzed based on self-similarity in periodogram under scales range generated by wavelet transformation to reasonably divide the original dataset and effectively reflect the seasonal distribution characteristics. Experimental evaluation based on the dataset from National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is given to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach. © 2020, Tech science Press. Leukemia is a kind of blood cancer that damages the cells in the blood and bone marrow of the human *** produces cancerous blood cells that disturb the human’s immune system and significantly affect bone marrow’s production ability to effectively create different types of blood cells like red blood cells(RBCs)and white blood cells(WBC),and *** can be diagnosed manually by taking a complete blood count test of the patient’s blood,from which medical professionals can investigate the signs of leukemia ***,two other methods,microscopic inspection of blood smears and bone marrow aspiration,are also utilized while examining the patient for ***,all these methods are labor-intensive,slow,inaccurate,and require a lot of human experience and *** authors have proposed automated detection systems for leukemia diagnosis to overcome these *** have deployed digital image processing and machine learning algorithms to classify the cells into normal and blast ***,these systems are more efficient,reliable,and fast than previous manual diagnosing ***,more work is required to classify leukemia-affected cells due to the complex characteristics of blood images and leukemia cells having much intra-class variability and inter-class *** this paper,we have proposed a robust automated system to diagnose leukemia and its *** have classified ALL into its sub-types based on FAB classification,i.e.,L1,L2,and L3 types with better *** have achieved 96.06%accuracy for subtypes classification,which is better when compared with the state-of-the-art methodologies.

Pathological diagnosis has an important role as the last step in cancer diagnosis. When the naked eye is not enough to identify cancer, we usually use further immunohistochemical diagnosis, which is the detection of specific proteins to obtain protein sequences and their negative/positive expression, and make the final diagnosis based on the sequences. This process is a classification task for protein detection sequences. However, when deep learning goes into this field, it often has the problem of lack of data and poor explainability. Based on the above description, to solve the problem of small sample classification, we propose to extract knowledge from scratch, build protein knowledge graphs, and reuse protein embeddings from the knowledge graph to improve classification performance. In addition, we give explanation for the diagnostic model by visualizing importance and coupling degree of proteins. In our experiments, we find that our proposed classification model has good classification performance and explainability. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Surrogate models, which have become an effective and popular method to close loop reservoir management problems, use a data-driven approach to predict dynamic injection and production wells parameters and optimize waterflooding development. In this study, a deep learning-based surrogate model method is proposed to estimate bottomhole pressure (BHP) of production wells in waterflooding reservoirs. Bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) network, as an efficient deep learning approach, is applied to BHP estimation using fluctuation data. Extended Fourier amplitude sensitivity test (EFAST) method is employed to analyse the influence of different input factors on BHP dynamics, and a reduced dataset is rebuilt to predict BHP parameter based on BiLSTM-EFAST algorithm. The estimation results are tested on a dataset from Volve oilfield in North Sea, and compared with other deep learning methods. The test results indicate that the proposed method can achieve higher prediction accuracy. A reduced dataset-based approach provides a new attempt to reduce model complexity and improve calculation speed for big data-driven surrogate model in oil and gas industry.

Barrier function-based adaptive synergetic control with state constraints for manipulator with uncertainty and input saturation

This study proposes a barrier function-based adaptive nonsingular terminal synergetic control to mitigate chattering and uncertainty in a nonlinear system with hard state constraints and actuator saturation. The controller addresses the uncertainty by utilizing a barrier function-based evolution constraint. Furthermore, the controller incorporates a barrier function-based macrovariable to modify the control behavior and constrain the system states within predefined ranges. The design is presented for an n-th-order nonlinear system, and the stability is proven using the Lyapunov stability theorem. Simulation with constant reference demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed controller in constraining the system states, and experiments with impulse, sine, and bounded random uncertainty illustrate the controller's ability to handle uncertainty without explicitly defining the worst-case assumption. Moreover, implementation on a robotic manipulator demonstrates the advantage of the proposed method compared to four adaptive controllers in terms of continuous control law, chattering-free response, simplicity in tuning parameters, and tracking performance.

Segmentation Model Approaches using Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Images: A Review

Automatic segmentation solution is the process of detecting and extracting information to simplify the representation of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images (CMRI) of Left Ventricle (LV) contour. This segmented information, using CMR images, helps to reduce the segmentation error between expert and automatic segmented contours. The error represents missing region values calculated in percentages after segmenting a cardiac LV contour. This review paper will discuss the major three segmentation approaches, namely manual approach, semiautomatic, and fully automatic, along with the segmentation models, namely image-based models, region-based models, edge-based models, deformable-based models, active shape-based models (ASM), active contour-based models (ACM), level set-based models (LSM), and variational LSM (VLSM). The review deeply explains the performance of segmentation models using different techniques. Furthermore, the review compares 122 studies on segmentation model approaches, i.e., 16 from 2004 to 2010, 40 from 2011 to 2016, and 63 from 2017 to 2021, and 3 other related studies were conducted for LV contour segmentation, cardiac function, area-at-risk (AAR) identification, scar tissue classification, oedema tissue classification, and identification via presence, size, and location. Given the large number of articles on CMR-LV images that have been published, this review conducted a critical analysis and found a gap for researchers in the areas of LV localization, LV contour segmentation, cardiac function, and oedoema tissue classification and segmentation. Regarding critical analysis, this paper summarised a research gap and made useful suggestions for new CMR-LV researchers. although a timely reviewed study can lead to cardiac segmentation challenges, which will be discussed in each review section. © 2022, CC BY.

E-business offers to economic agents the opportunity to increase the efficiency of their activity, promote and offer their products and services on a large and diversified market. Often a single service, separately, does not meet all the needs of various categories and groups of customers. In such a situation, service composition can provide more technical, commercial, informational facilities than each separate component service can offer. There are many web-based frameworks used for e-business, but still with limitations. The paper presents a Services Composition Framework and a wise algorithm for e-business models, based on REST and SOAP web services. It is intended to be used for the development of e-business models, comprising stock market exchange, e-commerce, e-banking, etc. The customers can access the framework services, through Smartphones, on mobile and wireless communication channels. Within a Quality-of-Service performance analysis of the e-business Service Composition Framework, the response time and throughput for multiuser access simultaneous requests were evaluated. A stock market exchange service is considered, as an e-business service example, while Bucharest Stock Exchange information is the digital content source for data transactions.

Currently, the use of cyber-physical systems is becoming widespread in various fields, primarily, because they enable many innovative functionalities through their networking. These systems include complex computation elements that interacts with the physical environment through sensors or actuators. Their solutions are based on sharing of hardware equipment and software services, targeting to provide added value proposition for various customers. The research and development in this domain are going on not only in the technical direction, but is also targeting the value creation for customers, in a technical and business-oriented manner. This paper presents a cyber-physical systems-based business model realized through services composition. The service composition framework integrates Web services which can be interconnected and can be accessed by mobile clients through smartphones, on mobile and wireless communications channels. The response time for multiuser requests for services access is evaluated, because it is an important quality of service performance criteria of our e-business model service composition framework. The results are promising.

A Unified Formulation of Geometry-aware Discrete Dynamic Movement Primitives

Learning from demonstration (LfD) is considered as an efficient way to transfer skills from humans to robots. Traditionally, LfD has been used to transfer Cartesian and joint positions and forces from human demonstrations. The traditional approach works well for some robotic tasks, but for many tasks of interest, it is necessary to learn skills such as orientation, impedance, and/or manipulability that have specific geometric characteristics. An effective encoding of such skills can be only achieved if the underlying geometric structure of the skill manifold is considered and the constrains arising from this structure are fulfilled during both learning and execution. However, typical learned skill models such as dynamic movement primitives (DMPs) are limited to Euclidean data and fail in correctly embedding quantities with geometric constraints. In this paper, we propose a novel and mathematically principled framework that uses concepts from Riemannian geometry to allow DMPs to properly embed geometric constrains. The resulting DMP formulation can deal with data sampled from any Riemannian manifold including, but not limited to, unit quaternions and symmetric and positive definite matrices. The proposed approach has been extensively evaluated both on simulated data and real robot experiments. The performed evaluation demonstrates that beneficial properties of DMPs, such as convergence to a given goal and the possibility to change the goal during operation, apply also to the proposed formulation. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.
