Due to the disparity in the levels of difficulty presented by the several tasks, doing domain adaptation in an adversarial way may result in an imbalanced learning process. In the MNIST dataset, this phenomenon also manifests itself in the form of domain adaptation for color-shifted distribution. In this particular situation, the domain classifier has a higher tendency to fit more quickly, but the category classifier fits quite poorly in the learning process. In order to address this problem, a new hyper-parameter has been added to the loss function in order to strike a compromise between the learning speed of the domain and the categorical classifier. By using this technique, the categorical classifier may better match the data while still maintaining the same level of performance as the domain classifier. In order to determine whether or not making use of this hyper-parameter is useful, the phenomena in question is examined using three distinct color-shifted settings. Following the evaluations, it was discovered that the newly introduced hyper-parameter is capable of coping with imbalanced learning while simultaneously engaging in domain adaptation. © 2023 IEEE.

Batik is a cultural heritage of Indonesia, recognized by WHO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Batik is dyed by skilled craftsmen who make patterns with dots and lines on the fabric from melted wax. The process is complicated, so few people can experience all the steps in crafting Batik. From these problems, immersive learning media are needed so everyone can learn and gain experience in Batik crafting from start to finish. In this study, we will present Nge-BatikVR, a serious game application that introduces Batik through Virtual Reality and offers an immersive experience of learning Batik from various regions with interactive hands-on feature aimed at people to better understand and learn Batik. Nge-BatikVR offers four main features called Sinau (Learn), Kuis (Quiz), Nge-Batik (Simulation) and Toko (Shopping), with the main purpose to present interactive and engaging media useful for introducing and learning Batik with a fully immersive experience. © 2023 IEEE.

Prediction of Thyroid is a complex axiom in medical research. Machine learning methods are more powerful and compact for the healthcare industry to handle the massive amount of healthcare records. The methods in machine learning provides the facility to use different kind of data values which are used for prediction. Data cleaning techniques are used for enhancing the dataset to provide accurate results. The noisy and missing values are handled using data pre-processing methods. In this work, Adaboost and Bagging techniques are used for thyroid classification. The methods are executed, and the results are compared to show the effective method for thyroid prediction. © 2022 IEEE.

This article proposes a machine learning (ML)-based approach to solve a graph optimization problem, named network intervention with limited degradation (NILD), which aims at adding new edges to augment the graph to minimize the local clustering coefficient (LCC) of a target node. The main application of NILD is to perform network intervention, to improve the mental well-being of individuals. This article proposes a new framework, named network intervention with self-supervision (NISS), which employs reinforcement learning and self-supervised learning (SSL) to effectively solve the problem. We propose two new effective pretext tasks in SSL, Distance-to-target prediction task and LCC increment prediction task to improve the model performance. In addition, we also propose two new embedding approaches, neighborhood embedding (NE) and constraint property embedding (CPE), to capture the structural information of the graph. Extensive experiments on multiple real social networks and synthetic datasets show that our proposed approach significantly outperforms the other state-of-the-art baselines, including ML-based baselines and deterministic algorithms. © 2014 IEEE.

Children face the problem of extending a limited spatial lexicon to potentially infinite spatial situations. Previous work has examined how spatial semantic categories may be formed in child development, but it is unclear how children extend these categories to novel situations over the developmental time course. Drawing on cognitive linguistic theories of category extension, we present a framework that models the incremental extension of spatial relational words to novel situations through time. We describe a longitudinal dataset and computational analyses for investigating the extension of spatial word meanings in a developmental setting. Our preliminary results suggest that the formation of spatial categories takes place through an exemplar-based process of chaining, similar to the process underlying the growth of linguistic categories in history. Our work offers opportunities to explore the connection between ontogeny and phylogeny in the process of word meaning extension. © cognitive science Society: Comparative Cognition: Animal Minds, CogSci *** rights reserved.

Smart villages that utilize digital technology are a solution to assist rural community services in meeting their needs, especially for developing countries. However, financial problems, namely the high cost of infrastructure, the size of the informal economy and governance are challenges in limiting the government's aspirations regarding the smart village concept. The presentation of this article examines the state of smart village development in developing countries, which includes conceptual understanding, motivations, drivers and barriers to smart villages. The purpose of this study is to find answers to research questions by reviewing several selected study articles. The method used was to search for selected studies and there were 60 selected studies identified from a search of five literature databases which initially contained 3394 articles. The results of the data were analyzed using synthetic analysis and thematic analysis. The results of this study found data related to Concept, Technology, Barriers To Smart Village which came from several articles by answering questions from the research, namely RQ1: How many articles from the 10 most populous countries discussed Smart Village, RQ2: What are the basic dimensions of Smart Village, RQ3: What new technologies are discussed in Smart Village digitization, RQ4: What are the Challenges in Smart Village. The results of this SLR can also later be used as a reference for further researchers to find out the background of research related to smart villages. This study investigates children’s trust in two humanoid robots, Nao and iCub, through a cooperative game designed to elicit spontaneous behaviors and group dynamics. We investigate whether participants change their choices after hearing advice from a robot, considering rounds where the advice is correct or incorrect, with the robot apologizing for its mistakes. Results reveal that, in most cases, participants prefer not to change their moves after the robot’s advice. Additionally, after the robots made mistakes, participants are less likely to actively follow their advice and more likely to reject it. No significant differences in strategies among the iCub and Nao samples are evidenced. Furthermore, we examine the influence of group dynamics, identifying "Proactive Players" who consistently initiated moves. A significant association between the strategies of this player and their teammates is found, suggesting potential influence. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Natural catastrophes have become one of the hottest subjects as a result of the harm they have caused to human structures. In recent years, research pertaining to the discipline of building damage assessment (BDA), which seeks to study the effect of damage on structures, has grown substantially. This bibliometric study seeks to determine the state of the art in the subject of Building Damage Assessment Using Deep Learning by examining several papers. The method used (Donthu et al., 202) divides the steps of bibliometric analysis into four parts: identifying the field of research to be analyzed, identifying the methods used in bibliometric analysis, collecting research data with similar fields, and executing and analyzing the results of bibliometric analysis on the collected data. In the data collecting and analysis portion (Garza-Reyes, 2015), the identification of data search keywords, the execution of data searches, the enhancement of search results, statistical data processing, and data analysis are carried out. Several research questions pertaining to trends, influences, themes, authors, and other crucial components of doing research in the area of building damage assessment are answered using these techniques. The outcome is the mapping and resolution of all research problems, as well as the acquisition of bibliometric analysis-related data. The provided findings have been mapped into several types of visualization, including network % clustering graphs, overlay graphs, and density graphs, as well as other forms of visualization that will aid researchers in comprehending the study circumstances in the field. It is envisaged that this bibliometric study would make it simpler for scholars to do research in related topics. © 2022 IEEE.

In general, public or private organizations or companies have used information-based technology as a support to improve business performance to be more effective and efficient in order to achieve a company's business goals. Given the large contribution of information technology in the application of hotel applications as a supporting information system, it is a vital system that must avoid risks that can hinder and cause harm to the hotel management business processes. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out risk management using the COBIT 5 framework to manage possible risks that may occur based on the APO12 (Manage Risk) domain. From the evaluation results of the data obtained through observation and interviews as well as the calculation of the results of the questionnaire based on 6 APO12 subdomains, the results of the risk management level capability assessment in hotel applications are still at level 3 or have reached the level of established process with the target to be achieved at level 4 resulting in a gap of 1 level. Based on the results obtained, it is necessary to propose recommendations that can be used by hotels in improving the application of information technology risk management so that in the future it can achieve the expected target level so that the APO12 level of capability can increase and become more optimal. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital transformation is about transforming processes, business models, domains, and culture. Studies show that the failure rate of digital transformation is quite high up to 90%. Studies show that the transformational leadership model has a significant impact on digital transformation adoption. This paper identifies the positive and negative attributes of transformational leadership including the components that support and are affected for successful adoption of digital transformation. Furthermore, the paper combines several findings related to the attributes and components in the form of a conceptual framework.
