Sign language has importance rule to deal with communication process especially with impairments hearing people. Sign language detection also attract lot of researchers to join the challenge of research to detect and recognize the sign language in the field of computer science. Hence, there is still no any standard approach and method to recognize the meaning in every pose of sign language. This research proposed a mechanism to detect Alphabet American Sign Language by utilizing Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) process. The CNN approach was chosen based on the ability and capability to recognize image. In this research, MNIST dataset is used for traning and testing process. The proposed CNN architecture produced 97% of accuracy that outperform the previous research using the same dataset which made this architecture promising. © 2022 IEEE.

If qualia are mental, and if the mental is functional, then so are qualia. But, arguably, qualia are not functional. A resolution of this is offered based on a formal similarity between qualia and numbers. Just as certain sets "play the role of"the number 3 in Peano's axioms, so a certain physical implementation of a color plays the role of, say, red in a (computational) cognitive agent's "cognitive economy". © 2022 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Neural style transfer is a technique to transfer a style of an artistic image to another photorealistic image. The early development of this technique is exploiting the intermediate output of a deep learning model and utilizing it to optimize a targeted image. However, this technique needs some time to finish the process. An approach called knowledge distillation is widely used to optimize deep learning models so the speed of the model can be increased. Commonly, this technique is applied in a supervised task by providing a soft label as a target label for the student model. In this paper, a method is proposed to enable knowledge distillation happened in style transfer tasks. It is found this method is effective enough to make the style transfer process faster and give good results. In this paper also some discussion has been elaborated regarding the condition that is adequate to produce a good student model for style transfer tasks using knowledge distillation. © 2022 IEEE.

The increasing number of articles available in the digital library will require quite a long time and accuracy in sorting articles according to needs. The use of artificial neural networks in finding the right articles as needed through topic segmentation applications will helps this process in terms of speed and accuracy. Several neural network models used in segmentation topic applications include Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM). The Transformer model since its introduction in 2017 for Natural Language Processing (NLP) has a better level of accuracy compared to the RNN, CNN and LSTM models. Transformer model research for segmentation topic applications, especially articles in Indonesian language, is still very limited. This paper will discuss the use of the Transformer model in segmentation topic applications for Indonesian-language articles. The experimental results found that the accuracy produced by the Transformer model was higher than previous LSTM model with the WindowDiff value generated by the model proposed using Transformer is 0.249 and the LSTM baseline model is 0.363, while the PP! value generated by the proposed model is 0.279 and the LSTM baseline model is 0.394. © 2023 The Authors. Membership function (MF) in process of fuzzy logic is very meaningful. It depicts the core of model. It can be adopted from the expert judgment and also coming from the configuration of data behavior. The study is an experimental research by analyzing time-series data behavior in developing the MF by using the programming language Python. The MF academically produced called as floating MF (FMF). Such a FMF operated to realize the fuzzy logic conception in an evaluation model. The constructed model is a model in simply measuring the student's performance. By using the ten series-data of student's grade point average (GPA) and absence per annual (APS) values, the model can simulate the moving students' performance per semester. When compared to the conventional FL based model, the proposed model has a similarity average 85%. © 2022 IEEE.

Social media is an online media that functions as a platform for users to participate, share, create, and exchange information through various forums and social networks. The rapid increase in social media activity causes an increase in the number of comments on social media. This is prone to triggering debate due to the easy formation of open discussions between social media users. However, the debate often triggers the emergence of negative things, causing great fights on social media. Social media users often use comments containing toxic words to argue and corner a party or group. This study conducted an experiment to detect comments containing toxic sentences on social media in Indonesia using a Pre-Trained Model that was trained for Indonesian. This study performed a multilabel classification and evaluated the classification results generated by the Multilingual BERT (MBERT), IndoBERT, and Indo Roberta Small models. The optimal result of this study is to use the IndoBERT model with an F1 Score of 0.8897. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

The rate at which the world is evolving is astonishing with cutting-edge technologies being introduced every day. There have been developments in every field ranging from constructing gigantic architectures to enhancing the ease and comfort with which we can commute daily. Nevertheless, this has given rise to different types of pollution, sound pollution being one of them. Although the impact of sound pollution is not instantaneously noticed, it has a distinct effect on humans and nature which is observed over a period of time. There are multiple sources that cause sound pollution. Sounds from ongoing construction sites are one of them. Such sounds disrupt the daily lifestyle of people, their health, and daily productivity. Mostly, these sounds start very early in the day thereby making it difficult for people to manually take precautions like shutting doors and windows or deploying mobile soundproofing solutions. Machine learning has advanced significantly over the years leading to the refinement of artificial intelligence. This has aided in the development of multifarious solutions to ease and simplify our daily lifestyle. This sets the stage for an autonomous system, that can detect sounds from construction sites very early to automatically deploy precautionary measures so that the effect of these sounds on close by residents can be minimized. In this paper, a system is presented that models audio clips using MFCC-based features for the identification of sounds from construction sites in the Urban environment. Experiments were performed on a dataset of over 6K clips composed of the varied construction sounds as well as ambient urban sounds and a maximum accuracy of 98.02% was achieved using random forest-based classification. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

With the high demand for oil palm production, implementations of Machine Learning (ML) technologies to provide accurate predictions and recommendations to assist oil palm plantation management tasks have become beneficial, such as in predicting annual oil palm. However, different geographical and meteorological conditions may result in different scales of influence for each variable. In this research, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) and Support Vector Regression (SVR) were used in predicting oil palm yield based on data collected in Riau, Indonesia. Pearson’s correlation coefficient was also calculated in selecting the input features for the models, whereas normalization and standardization were used in scaling the data. By setting the minimum absolute correlation threshold to 0.1 and using standardization, both models managed to obtain more than 0.81 R2, with SVR obtaining the overall best performance with 0.8709 R2, 1.372 MAE, and 1.8025 RMSE without hyperparameter fine-tuning. It was also discovered that the oil palm yield in the previous year is the variable with the most influence in estimating oil palm yield in the current year, followed by the number of plants and soil types. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

A lot of research on task-oriented chatbots has been carried out to improve research on intent recognition. However, there are not many studies that discuss out-of-scope. This study introduces the use of threshold for classification results. The use of threshold improves recall performance of OOS detection above baseline for BiLSTM but reduces recall inside scope for all models. Directly applying multiclass classification with combined class of inside scope and out of scope also showed higher recall than baseline. © 2022 IEEE.
