The rise of blockchain technology and smart contracts has brought widespread attention due to their capacity to transform multiple industrial sectors through decentralized, transparent, secure transactions. However, despite their promise to revolutionize various fields worldwide, lingering concerns regarding security risks impede their adoption rate. Addressing these concerns is crucial now more than ever;therefore, we conducted a comprehensive literature review within our study's scope that focused on published papers between 2014-2023 centered around security risks concerning blockchain and smart contracts. Our systematic approach using the PRISMA checklist analyzed nine categorized research model-based primary studies while recognizing vulnerabilities in smart contract development and providing best practices to mitigate such issues. These findings benefit both researchers and practitioners as they showcase how acknowledging these vulnerabilities can further develop into exploring more significant aspects of blockchain technology's security issues and smart contract development processes. Our study contributes significantly by expanding knowledge in this field while providing novel insights valuable for individuals involved in designing or implementing blockchain technologies. © 2023 IEEE.

In this article, we present an innovative approach to enhance the online shoe shopping experience. The convolutional neural network (CNN) image recognition technology was used to enhance shoe classification and recommendations. By training the CNN model on an extensive dataset, unique shoe features and styles were learned. Integrated into a user-friendly online platform, the system offers real-time image recognition, allowing users to snap a photo of a desired shoe for instant identification, including brand, price, and availability details. Moreover, the CNN-based recommendation engine provides personalized suggestions based on style, color, and customer preferences, enriching the shopping experience. Evaluation results confirmed the system's feasibility, and user feedback highlighted its effectiveness in simplifying the shopping process and enhancing satisfaction. This innovative system presents a significant leap in merging AI and e-commerce and shows the potential of image recognition to transform online marketplaces, benefiting consumers, offering valuable insights for retailers, and ultimately reshaping the future of online shoe shopping. © 2023 IEEE.

In this research work, the authors present an improved secure search algorithm that will allow for optimum multi-keyword ranked search matching in public cloud storage that uses encrypted data. The goal of the plan is to provide a method that is both safe and effective for searching for and retrieving important data stored in cloud settings, all while preserving the data's privacy and confidentiality. Experiments and simulations are carried out in order to assess the viability of the suggested plan, and mathematical expressions are used to depict the algorithms and assessment criteria. According to the findings of the research, the strategy that was presented is capable of achieving a high level of accuracy, recall, and F1-score while simultaneously reducing the number of false positives and false negatives. The research underlines how important it is to address security problems in cloud computing settings, and it gives significant insights that can be used to design cloud computing services that are both safe and efficient. In the future, possible topics of study might include further refining and optimizing of the scheme that was described, as well as the application of the method in real cloud computing systems. © 2024 IEEE.

THE DYNAMIC INTERPLAY BETWEEN IN-CONTEXT AND IN-WEIGHT LEARNING IN HUMANS AND NEURAL NETWORKS

Human learning embodies a striking duality: sometimes, we appear capable of following logical, compositional rules and benefit from structured curricula (e.g., in formal education), while other times, we rely on an incremental approach or trial-and-error, learning better from curricula that are randomly interleaved. Influential psychological theories explain this seemingly disparate behavioral evidence by positing two qualitatively different learning systems—one for rapid, rule-based inferences and another for slow, incremental adaptation. It remains unclear how to reconcile such theories with neural networks, which learn via incremental weight updates and are thus a natural model for the latter type of learning, but are not obviously compatible with the former. However, recent evidence suggests that metalearning neural networks and large language models are capable of "in-context learning" (ICL)—the ability to flexibly grasp the structure of a new task from a few examples. Here, we show that the dynamic interplay between ICL and default in-weight learning (IWL) naturally captures a broad range of learning phenomena observed in humans, reproducing curriculum effects on category-learning and compositional tasks, and recapitulating a tradeoff between flexibility and retention. Our work shows how emergent ICL can equip neural networks with fundamentally different learning properties that can coexist with their native IWL, thus offering a novel perspective on dual-process theories and human cognitive flexibility. © 2024, CC BY.

Twitter is one of Indonesia's most widely used social media to express positive and negative emotions. Negative emotions are referred to as emotional reactivity, an example of which is depression. To detect emotional reactivity, Artificial Intelligence (AI) was used. With deep learning pretrained model methods (IndoBERT and IndoBERTweet), AI successfully classified emotional reactivity. AI satisfactorily detected emotional reactivity on Twitter. © 2023 IEEE.

Compounding is a common type of word formation extensively studied in linguistics and cognitive psychology. A growing line of research suggests that the lexicon supports efficient communication by balancing informativeness and simplicity. We propose that the formation of novel compounds reflects a similar tradeoff between informativeness and word length. We formalize this hypothesis in information-theoretic terms and develop a computational procedure to evaluate our hypothesis on English noun compounds that emerged over the past century. We find that attested compounds achieve more efficient tradeoffs between informativeness and word length than do alternative word forms. Our work demonstrates how word formation and compositionality can be connected with information-theoretic approaches to the design of the lexicon. © 2022 The Author(s). Detecting COVID-19 as early as possible and quickly is one way to stop the spread of COVID-19. Machine learning development can help to diagnose COVID-19 more quickly and accurately. This report aims to find out how far research has progressed and what lessons can be learned for future research in this sector. By filtering titles, abstracts, and content in the Google Scholar database, this literature review was able to find 19 related papers to answer two research questions, i.e. what medical images are commonly used for COVID-19 classification and what are the methods for COVID-19 classification. According to the findings, chest X-ray were the most commonly used data to categorize COVID-19 and transfer learning techniques were the method used in this study. Researchers also concluded that lung segmentation and use of multimodal data could improve performance. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

This study investigates the factors influencing user willingness to share data in mobile health (m-health) applications in Indonesia, integrating the Technology Acceptance Model, Theory of Planned Behavior, and Privacy Calculus Theory through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Data were collected via an online questionnaire from 103 Indonesian active users of m-health platforms, aged 15-55, focusing on applications that provide online consultations and health-related information. The SEM analysis, validated by indices including the Goodness of Fit Index and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation, reveals a strong model fit. The findings highlight that perceived benefits, such as improved health outcomes and personalized advice, are the primary drivers for users' willingness to share data, significantly outweighing concerns over privacy risks. Perceived usefulness and trust in the application also significantly affect data-sharing behavior, while ease of use and social influences have a moderate to minor influence, respectively. These insights are critical for application developers and policymakers in enhancing app utility and user engagement while addressing privacy concerns. The study's limitations include its demographic scope and reliance on self-administered questionnaires, pointing to directions for future research to broaden demographic representation and deepen qualitative insights. © 2024 IEEE.

Quantifying the effect of mutations in the BRCA1 gene is useful for understanding their clinical consequences on breast cancer. Machine learning models can be applied to predict the landscape of protein variant effects that might not be always accessible by experiments. In this work, we propose a simple semi-supervised learning method using a Gaussian mixture model to predict ~90% of the unlabeled missense variants of the BRCA1 gene collected from the ClinVar database. High-quality embeddings are used as a feature of the protein sequences, extracted using the latest pre-trained transformer-based language protein model. A statistical test show that the protein embeddings are effective and robust for predicting pathogenicity. Further, the lower representations of the features are then fed into the semi-supervised model. The prediction performance of the model only for the labeled testing data achieves an AUC score and an accuracy of 79.27% and 71.58%, respectively. Using our defined pathogenic probability score, we find that ~94% of variants in our unlabeled dataset are well-separated into either benign or pathogenic classes according to that scoring. Our scores obtain a moderate Spearman rank correlation with the results of established unsupervised variant effect models. Finally, our approach can potentially be developed for more accurate and biologically reliable predictions of the variant effects. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
