Music Signal Processing has significantly evolved in the past decades. One of the major areas of interest in this field has been automatic music transcription. It is a challenging task by itself that aggravates even more when the input audio is polyphonic (multiple instruments and timbres are played simultaneously). This requires the identification of musical instruments in the piece at the outset. The field of music signal processing that deals with this aspect is known as automatic music instrument identification. This field also has the potential of categorizing and recommending music based on instruments. Disparate datasets have been proposed to date for this task but none of them have interclass background similarity to the best of our knowledge. Further, the lead melody being played also varies from class to class in most cases. These aspects can introduce a possible bias for the machine learning models that can get manipulated unfairly by the additional variances in the classes other than the lead instrument itself. This sets the stage for a dataset where the classes are different only in terms of the tone of the lead instrument alone. In this paper, we introduce the first musical instrument dataset of 10 musical instruments with Electronic Dance Music melodies (EDM10) having identical background music (BGM) across instruments. This dataset is the first of its kind wherein synthetic tones have been used that have taken over the Globe. We introduce out-of-mood testing using exotic scales for musical instrument identification. The dataset is composed of 35800 polyphonic clips of 3 s each and a baseline result of 89.73% was obtained using a deep learning-based approach. Innovative safety in the workplace is vital as the high safety risks associated with electrical engineering construction can lead to injuries or even fatalities. Using computer vision technology, we experimented with scenarios such as 'normal operations' and 'unexpected incidents' to enhance safety measures. We integrated an Internet of Things system into the setup, enabling the system to quickly detect and alert to unexpected events in real-time, thereby improving workplace safety. © 2024 IEEE.

Where is the Truth? The Risk of Getting Confounded in a Continual World

A dataset is confounded if it is most easily solved via a spurious correlation which fails to generalize to new data. In this work, we show that, in a continual learning setting where confounders may vary in time across tasks, the challenge of mitigating the effect of confounders far exceeds the standard forgetting problem normally considered. In particular, we provide a formal description of such continual confounders and identify that, in general, spurious correlations are easily ignored when training for all tasks jointly, but it is harder to avoid confounding when they are considered sequentially. These descriptions serve as a basis for constructing a novel CLEVR-based continually confounded dataset, which we term the ConCon dataset. Our evaluations demonstrate that standard continual learning methods fail to ignore the dataset's confounders. Overall, our work highlights the challenges of confounding factors, particularly in continual learning settings, and demonstrates the need for developing continual learning methods to robustly tackle these. © 2024, CC BY.

This study presents a comprehensive approach to IT asset security risk management in physical access control systems, integrating NIST SP 800-116, 800-53, 800-30, ISO 31000, and 27002:2022 standards. Using a mixed-method approach, we conducted interviews, discussion forums, and observations with IT and security professionals in manufacturing and insurance sectors in Indonesia. Our findings reveal seven key factors crucial for physical security of IT assets, including policies, access authorization, and environmental controls. The study proposes a risk assessment model that determines authentication factor levels based on risk severity. Results indicate discrepancies between current practices and recommended security levels, particularly in server rooms and production areas. We provide a set of control recommendations aligned with ISO 27002:2022 to enhance physical security measures. This research contributes to both theory and practice by offering a holistic framework for managing physical security risks in IT environments, particularly relevant for organizations in emerging economies.

A subscription movie streaming service from the United States, Netflix, has been present in Indonesia since 2016 and provides a wide variety of films without showing any single advertisements that can be viewed from anywhere, as long as there is access to the internet. Despite these advantages, many users have complained through the Google Play Store's comments column. Some of the common complaints include frequent buffering and connectivity issues, dissatisfaction with the limited selection of Indonesian movies, lack of subtitles for specific languages, or pricing concerns have also been raised. In this study developed two combined scenario methods using the InSet and SentiStrength-id dictionary to obtain better performance and compare them against independent InSet and SentiStrength-id. This study collected users' comments for the Netflix app in the Google Play Store as a dataset using web scraping techniques through the Google Collaboration tool. The dataset contains 3250 rows spanning the period from January 22, 2024, through June 6, 2024. To ensure proper processing of the text, data cleaning, lowercasing, normalization, tokenization, stemming, and stopwords removal are conducted. The results show that most user opinions are negative. The InSet dictionary has an accuracy of 92%, SentiStrength-id 78%, Combined scenario 1 is 87%, and scenario 2 reaches the highest among others which is 92.52%. © 2024 IEEE.

Retinal Blood Vessel Tracking and Diameter Estimation via Gaussian Process With Rider Optimization Algorithm

Retinal blood vessels structure analysis is an important step in the detection of ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity. Accurate tracking and estimation of retinal blood vessels in terms of their diameter remains a major challenge in retinal structure analysis. In this research, we develop a rider-based Gaussian approach for accurate tracking and diameter estimation of retinal blood vessels. The diameter and curvature of the blood vessel are assumed as the Gaussian processes. The features are determined for training the Gaussian process using Radon transform. The kernel hyperparameter of Gaussian processes is optimized using Rider Optimization Algorithm for evaluating the direction of the vessel. Multiple Gaussian processes are used for detecting the bifurcations and the difference in the prediction direction is quantified. The performance of the proposed Rider-based Gaussian process is evaluated with mean and standard deviation. Our method achieved high performance with the standard deviation of 0.2499 and mean average of 0.0147, which outperformed the state-of-the-art method by 6.32%. Although the proposed model outperformed the state-of-the-art method in normal blood vessels, in future research, one can include tortuous blood vessels of different retinopathy patients, which would be more challenging due to large angle variations. We used Rider-based Gaussian process for tracking blood vessels to obtain the diameter of retinal blood vessels, and the method performed well on the 'STrutred Analysis of the REtina (STARE) Database' accessed on Oct. 2020 (https://***/~ahoover/stare/). To the best of our knowledge, this experiment is one of the most recent analysis using this type of algorithm. © 2013 IEEE.

The research was centered on adapting and assessing a new, unique game concept. The game onKeys presents a new approach and poses as an alternative method for improving typing skills. However, despite offering a promising avenue, the game still grapples with certain limitations. Utilizing the MDA Framework, the study seeks to integrate additional game components into onKeys and evaluate its effectiveness in improving typing skills. A paired T-test is used to assess the Pre-Test and Post-Test data. The System Usability Scale gathers subjective feedback about the game design’s usability. This study found that the onKeys game has little impact on players’ typing speed and accuracy, which may be attributed to a higher average typing speed, short period of playtime or a small sample size. However, upon reviewing the record and survey data, particularly the System Usability Score, it becomes evident that the game design still has potential. Further research can delve deeper into this game concept and design.

This study is a preliminary one aims to find out the performance of the attitudes and behaviors of Binus University students towards sustainable development to gain the competitive advantages in ASEAN business competition in the post-pandemic era. It was taken using the convenience sampling technique to 225 students from varied semester and departments. It used the quantitative method (corrected item total correlations for both variables are 0.433 and 0.419 (>0.3), α for both are 0.750 and 0.773 (> 0.5)) with Likert scale to measure the performance of agree and disagree for managing and interpreting the data. The respondents are 250 students from varied semesters and departments. The performance of the most chosen variable of attitudes are: scale 4 is chosen by 44.44% and scale 5 is chosen by 35.56% of respondents. Whilst the performance of the most chosen variable of behaviors is: scale 4 is chosen by 39.56% and scale 5 is chosen by 27.56% of respondents. These results indicated that the sustainable development awareness of Bina Nusantara students tends to the level of moderate to high. © 2023 ACM.

In the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), a notable challenge has surfaced: adversarial attacks, these attacks involve altering input data to mislead AI models. Developing defensive measures against adversarial attacks is necessary for a more reliable AI system to protect its users from potential harm. In response to the risk of adversarial attacks, this study aims to mitigate the risk of such attacks, especially in image classification tasks, by proposing Adversarial Detection Guided Input Transformation (ADGIT) as an architecture designed to handle such attacks. In this study, the author will experiment with creating such architecture and measure the quality of the proposed technique. ADGIT works by utilizing SafetyNet as an adversarial detector to detect and cleanse adversarial attacks. The author concludes that the proposed technique could improve robustness against adversarial attacks increasing consistent prediction accuracy from 43% to 60% and reconstructing adversarial input images to be more similar to their unperturbed version, with reconstructed images' PSNR score on 0.007 perturbation increased from 43.1182 to 89.0999. The technique proposed could be used as a new defensive measure and improving robustness against adversarial attacks. Although ADGIT is capable of handling adversarial samples, ADGIT has a drawback in performance speed due to the extra preprocessing step.
