Split FOV (Field of View) star tracker was developed by Texas A&M University together with the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. A 50% splitter was used to combine light beams from two separate FOVs, while only a single objective lens and optical detector are used. In this way, double FOV configuration allows increased accuracy in attitude determination by taking advantage of the ability to examine two orthogonal FOVs simultaneously. There is a demand for optical tag due to each frame contained overlapping star images coming from separate FOVs. In this paper we propose a method for identifying two FOVs by tagging the images with different shaped diffraction patterns. We insert a circular diaphragm in the optical channel 1 # and non-circular (elliptical or rectangular) in the channel 2 # , so that images with distinctive features are produced at CCD photosensitive surface - circular Airy disc for the FOV-1 # and elliptical contour (with side lobe or distortion) for FOV-2 # . The effects of elliptical sampling window and the signal-to-noise ratio on the accuracy of the centroid estimate for star spots with a Gaussian intensity distribution were discussed theoretically. The optical tagging has one limitation. There is possibility for a star image tagged by non-circular contour, which is confused with smearing trail due to high angular velocity operation (e.g. greater than 1°/s).

Web browsers are our main gateways to the Internet. With their help we read articles, we learn, we listen to music, we share our thoughts and feelings, we write e-mails, or we chat. Current Web browser histories have mostly no visualization capabilities as well as limited options to filter patterns and information. Furthermore, such histories disregard the existence of parallel navigation in multiple browser windows and tabs. But a good understanding of parallel browsing behavior is of critical importance for the casual user and the behavioural analyst, while at the same time having implications in the design of search engines, Web sites and Web browsers. In this paper we present WebComets, an interactive visualization for extended browser histories. Our visualization employs browser histories that capture - among others - the tab-oriented, parallel nature of Web page navigation. Results presented in this paper suggest that WebComets better supports the analysis and comparison of parallel browsing and corresponding behavior patterns than common browser histories.

As the size and complexity of datasets increases, both visualization systems and their users are put under more pressure to offer quick and thorough insights about patterns hidden in this ocean of data. While novel visualization techniques are being developed to better cope with the various data contexts, users find themselves increasingly often under mental bottlenecks that can induce a variety of emotions. In this paper, we execute a study to investigate the effectiveness of various emotion triggered adaptation methods for visualization systems. The emotions considered are boredom and frustration, and are measured by means of brain-computer interface technology. Our findings suggest that less intrusive adaptive methods perform better at supporting users in overcoming emotional states with low valence or arousal, while more intrusive ones tend to be misinterpreted or perceived as irritating.
