Image analysis is an interesting research area with a large variety of challenging applications. Researchers have worked from decades on this topic, as witnessed by the scientific literature. However, document image analysis is the special case in image analysis as their spatial properties are different from natural images. Therefore, the main focus of this paper is to describe image denoising issues in general and document image issues in particular. Since the field of document processing is relatively new, it is also dynamic, so current methods have room for improvement and innovations are still being made. Several algorithms proposed in the literature are described. Critical discussions are reported about the current status of the field and open problems are highlighted. It is also demonstrated that, there are rarely definitive techniques for all cases of a certain problem. We surveyed the state of art, analyzed recent trends and tried to identify challenges for future research in this field.

Current and existing avatars are only able to express their emotional expressions only by using facial animation, gesture and voice. Yet, only few researchers successfully combined haptic tactile with human emotion expression. In this paper, we present an avatar in a creative way that can gain user attention while they play game and use computer. Our proposed technique is achieved through combination of visual sense and systematic mapping of sense of touch. The mapping procedure is developed by systemically map the emotion layer into color spectrum based on the standard color emotion theories. To prove our solution, we benchmark our proposed technique prototype with existing system like Alfred. From the conducted experiment, we found that 57% respondents feel strong expression of virtual head emotion expression when dedicated haptic device stimulates their sensory nerve. Using our design solution, we can see that psychological signal can be adapted with vibration characteristic.

We consider the problem of reconstructing a road network from a collection of path traces and provide guarantees on the accuracy of the reconstruction under reasonable assumptions. Our algorithm can be used to process a collection of polygonal paths in the plane so that shared structures (subpaths) among the paths in the collection can be discovered and the collection can be organized to allow efficient path similarity queries against new query paths on the same road network. This is a timely problem, as GPS and other location traces of both people and vehicles are becoming available on a large scale and there is a real need to create appropriate data structures and data bases for such data.

In this tech-note we demonstrate how multi-touch hand gestures in combination with foot gestures can be used to perform navigation tasks in interactive 3D environments. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are well suited as a complex testbed for evaluation of user interfaces based on multi-modal input. Recent developments in the area of interactive surfaces enable the construction of low-cost multi-touch displays and relatively inexpensive sensor technology to detect foot gestures, which allows to explore these input modalities for virtual reality environments. In this tech-note, we describe an intuitive 3D user interface metaphor and corresponding hardware, which combine multi-touch hand and foot gestures for interaction with spatial data.

Caricature is a pictorial representation of a person or subject in summarizing way by exaggerating the most distinctive features and simplifies the common features in order to make that subject different from others and at the same time, preserve the likeness of the subject. computer Generated Caricature is developed in order to assist the user in producing caricature automatically or semi-automatically. It is derived from the rapid advance in computergraphics and computer vision and introduced as a part of computergraphics' non-photo realistic rendering technologies as well. Recently, computer Generated Caricature becomes particularly interesting research topic due to the advantageous features of privacy, security, simplification, amusement and their explosive emergent real-world application such as in magazine, digital entertainment, Internet and mobile application. On the basis of the previous facts, this paper surveys the uses of caricature in variety of applications, theories and rules in the art of drawing caricature, how these theories are simulated in the development of caricature generation system and the current research trend in this field. computer generated caricature can be divided into two main categories based on their input data type: human centered approach and image processing approach. Next, process of generating caricature from input photo is explained briefly. It also reported the state of the art techniques in generating caricature by classifying it into four approaches: interactive, regularity-based, learning-based and predefined database of caricature illustration. Lastly, this paper will discuss relevant issues, problems and several promising direction of future research.
