For reliable and safe battery operations, accurate and robust State of Charge (SOC) and model parameters estimation is vital. However, the nonlinear dependency of the model parameters on battery states makes the problem challenging. We propose a Moving-Horizon Estimation (MHE)-based robust approach for joint state and parameters estimation. Dut to all the time scales involved in the model dynamics, a multi-rate MHE is designed to improve the estimation performance. Moreover, a parallelized structure for the observer is exploited to reduce the computational burden, combining both multi-rate and a reduced-order MHEs. Results show that the battery SOC and parameters can be effectively estimated. The proposed MHE observers are verified on a Simulink-based battery equivalent circuit model. © 2023, CC BY.

With the development of Internet of Things(IoT),the delay caused by network transmission has led to low data processing *** the same time,the limited computing power and available energy consumption of IoT terminal devices are also the important bottlenecks that would restrict the application of blockchain,but edge computing could solve this *** emergence of edge computing can effectively reduce the delay of data transmission and improve data processing ***,user data in edge computing is usually stored and processed in some honest-but-curious authorized entities,which leads to the leakage of users’privacy *** order to solve these problems,this paper proposes a location data collection method that satisfies the local differential privacy to protect users’*** this paper,a Voronoi diagram constructed by the Delaunay method is used to divide the road network space and determine the Voronoi grid region where the edge nodes are located.A random disturbance mechanism that satisfies the local differential privacy is utilized to disturb the original location data in each Voronoi *** addition,the effectiveness of the proposed privacy-preserving mechanism is verified through comparison *** with the existing privacy-preserving methods,the proposed privacy-preserving mechanism can not only better meet users’privacy needs,but also have higher data availability.

Nine-degrees-of-freedom (9-DoF) object pose and size estimation is crucial for enabling augmented reality and robotic manipulation. Category-level methods have received extensive research attention due to their potential for generalization to intra-class unknown objects. However, these methods require manual collection and labeling of large-scale real-world training data. To address this problem, we introduce a diffusion-based paradigm for domain-generalized category-level 9-DoF object pose estimation. Our motivation is to leverage the latent generalization ability of the diffusion model to address the domain generalization challenge in object pose estimation. This entails training the model exclusively on rendered synthetic data to achieve generalization to real-world scenes. We propose an effective diffusion model to redefine 9-DoF object pose estimation from a generative perspective. Our model does not require any 3D shape priors during training or inference. By employing the Denoising Diffusion Implicit Model, we demonstrate that the reverse diffusion process can be executed in as few as 3 steps, achieving near real-time performance. Finally, we design a robotic grasping system comprising both hardware and software components. Through comprehensive experiments on two benchmark datasets and the real-world robotic system, we show that our method achieves state-of-the-art domain generalization performance.

Vehicle positioning algorithms are essential for improving traffic management and safety by accurately locating vehicles in real-time, and, thus, minimizing congestion and accidents. They also support the development of advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous vehicles, relying on precise positioning data for safe navigation. One of the solutions involves using image processing algorithms, which can have two approaches. One approach is decentralized, in which each vehicle performs its own computing steps and determines its position concerning the other nearby vehicles. The second approach, proposed in this paper, is centralized, where each vehicle sends data to a server that uses cloud computing to process all the data in real-time. As such, vehicles can create a more comprehensive view of the driving conditions in the area by using either of these two approaches, which can help them anticipate potential hazards and make more informed decisions.

In this paper, the distributed time-varying optimization problem is investigated for networked Lagrangian systems with parametric uncertainties. Due to the usage of the signum function in the control torque design, there might exist chattering while implementing the distributed time-varying optimization algorithms for networked Lagrangian agents in the existing works. To this end, we design a distributed optimization algorithm that is capable of generating continuous control torques and achieving exact optimum tracking. A simulation is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

In this article, we propose an updated version of our previously developed model for predicting drug-side effect associations, applied to two case studies: long QT syndrome and asthma. The classifier accepts the name of a specific drug side effect as input and outputs a list of drugs potentially associated with this side effect. By simulating how drug effects propagate within the interactome using the Random Walk with Restart algorithm, the classifier identifies genes potentially associated with the onset of the side effect. Based on the rationale that the more a drug perturbs these genes, the more likely it is to cause the side effect, the model identifies drugs potentially linked to the onset of the side effect. Moreover, the model enables the categorization of drugs into chemical subclasses using the ClassyFire schema, facilitating the analysis of complex side effects, such as asthma, through more specific mechanisms. The results show that the model identifies both drugs known to be associated with certain side effects, as well as drugs not officially reported by the FDA, demonstrating its generalizability and practical relevance. This method is also adaptable for analyzing other side effects.

Metropolis Theorem and Its Applications in Single Image Detail Enhancement

Traditional image detail enhancement is local filter-based or global filter-based. In both approaches, the original image is first divided into the base layer and the detail layer, and then the enhanced image is obtained by amplifying the detail layer. Our method is different, and its innovation lies in the special way to get the image detail layer. The detail layer in our method is obtained by updating the residual features, and the updating mechanism is usually based on searching and matching similar patches. However, due to the diversity of image texture features, perfect matching is often not possible. In this paper, the process of searching and matching is treated as a thermodynamic process, where the Metropolis theorem can minimize the internal energy and get the global optimal solution of this task, that is, to find a more suitable feature for a better detail enhancement performance. Extensive experiments have proven that our algorithm can achieve better results in quantitative metrics testing and visual effects evaluation. This research focuses on exploring the exponential $$H_\infty $$ stability of general conformable nonlinear system. In order to address the nonlinearity inherent in the system, a polynomial fuzzy (PF) method is employed. Modeling a general conformable nonlinear system within the polynomial framework reduces the number of fuzzy rules compared to the classical Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy (TSF). Furthermore, controlling such a complex system, which accounts for perturbations, employs a PF model instead TSF model to describe its nonlinear dynamics, and incorporates a general conformable derivative instead of an integer-order one, is significantly more challenging, and remains unaddressed in previous studies. In this paper, a PF controller is designed in the form of sum of squares (SOS) to enhance the resilience against perturbations and ensure the exponential stability of the proposed model. The proposed SOS can be solved numerically, and partially symbolically, using the recently developed SOSTOOLS. In order to ensure the $$H_\infty $$ performance, a generalized criterion is defined for the general conformable nonlinear system. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, a numerical example is provided.

The study, published in the journal Nature Medicine, looked at data on 1,000 people from China who were tracked over an average period of six years. The participants were divided into two groups: those who lived in areas with high levels of air pollution and those who lived in areas with low levels of air pollution. The study analyzed data on patients with lung cancer, including their age, gender, exposure to air pollution, alcohol consumption, dust allergy, occupational hazards, genetic risk, chronic lung disease, balanced diet, obesity, smoking, passive smoking, chest pain, cough, hemoptysis, fatigue, weight loss, shortness of breath, wheezing, difficulty swallowing, nail thickening and snoring. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
