Breast Cancer (BC) remains a significant health challenge for women and is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Accurate diagnosis is critical for successful therapy and increased survival rates. Recent advances in medical imaging and computational technologies have enabled more precise methods of detecting and evaluating breast cancer. Accurate analysis and diagnosis utilizing medical imaging have developed as essential research topics, providing important help in clinical decision-making for various illnesses, including breast cancer. Machine learning (ML) can accurately predict breast cancer. But the breast cancer data has vague and uncertainty information. So, the neutrosophic sets (NSs) are used in this study to deal with uncertainty data. We convert the original dataset into neutrosophic data with three components such as truth, indeterminacy, and falsity values. Then we applied four ML models with N-data such as logistic regression, gradient boosting (GB), k-nearest neighbor (KNN), and support vector machines (SVM), to improve diagnostic accuracy. Then we compared the ML models with and without using N-data. The results show the logistic regression has higher accuracy with 98.6% with the N-data and 95.80% without N-data. Rapid development of software significantly facilitates developers in all phases of software development. Developers can easily leverage frameworks, content management systems (CMS), and libraries available in each programming language. With the large and rapid addition of frameworks, CMS, and libraries, developers must be able to choose precisely which ones to use based on the requirements of their software development projects. The utilization of machine learning for segmentation or clustering enables developers to identify groups of frameworks, CMS, and libraries by leveraging features obtained from static analysis, such as the size of codebases, complexities, structures, and other code characteristics. One algorithm that can be used for segmentation is K-means clustering. However, the availability of datasets is crucial as it can offer information about the code characteristics of each software. The use of machine learning on datasets can be an ongoing research area in software development related to utilizing code characteristics in software analysis. This study provides a novel dataset for the domains of software development and machine learning. The dataset we created contains 30 instances and 68 features that can be utilized for related or future research. This research utilizes the Silhouette score to determine the optimal k value. © 2024 IEEE.

When processing datasets in diabetes classification, common problems included a large number of missing values, outliers, and dataset imbalance. To deal with those issues, this study analyzed 18 studies on diabetes classification with machine learning algorithms over the past 5 years. This revealed the important role of data pre-processing in creating effective classification models, as it was found that by using different data pre-processing techniques, the same model can provide different performance. The study identified K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and support vector machine (SVM) as superior methods for filling in missing values, achieving an accuracy of 98.49% and 94.89%, respectively. These approaches outperformed traditional methods such as median or mean replacement. However, the challenge of imbalanced data sets remains in all studies reviewed. The common evaluation metrics used to evaluate the created models in previous studies included accuracy, precision, specificity, sensitivity/recall, and F1 Score. Overall, this review showed that the role of data pre-processing is no less important than algorithm selection to improve the performance of machine learning models in diabetes classification. © 2024 The Authors.

Support Vector Machine(SVM)has become one of the traditional machine learning algorithms the most used in prediction and classification ***,its behavior strongly depends on some parameters,making tuning these parameters a sensitive step to maintain a good *** the other hand,and as any other classifier,the performance of SVM is also affected by the input set of features used to build the learning model,which makes the selection of relevant features an important task not only to preserve a good classification accuracy but also to reduce the dimensionality of *** this paper,the MRFO+SVM algorithm is introduced by investigating the recent manta ray foraging optimizer to fine-tune the SVM parameters and identify the optimal feature subset *** proposed approach is validated and compared with four SVM-based algorithms over eight benchmarking ***,it is applied to a disease Covid-19 *** experimental results show the high ability of the proposed algorithm to find the appropriate SVM’s parameters,and its acceptable performance to deal with feature selection problem.

The Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA)is a swarm intelligence metaheuristic inspired by the bubble-net hunting tactic of humpback *** spite of its popularity due to simplicity,ease of implementation,and a limited number of parameters,WOA’s search strategy can adversely affect the convergence and equilibrium between exploration and exploitation in complex *** address this limitation,we propose a new algorithm called Multi-trial Vector-based Whale Optimization Algorithm(MTV-WOA)that incorporates a Balancing Strategy-based Trial-vector Producer(BS_TVP),a Local Strategy-based Trial-vector Producer(LS_TVP),and a Global Strategy-based Trial-vector Producer(GS_TVP)to address real-world optimization problems of varied degrees of ***-WOA has the potential to enhance exploitation and exploration,reduce the probability of being stranded in local optima,and preserve the equilibrium between exploration and *** the purpose of evaluating the proposed algorithm's performance,it is compared to eight metaheuristic algorithms utilizing CEC 2018 test ***,MTV-WOA is compared with well-stablished,recent,and WOA variant *** experimental results demonstrate that MTV-WOA surpasses comparative algorithms in terms of the accuracy of the solutions and convergence ***,we conducted the Friedman test to assess the gained results statistically and observed that MTV-WOA significantly outperforms comparative ***,we solved five engineering design problems to demonstrate the practicality of *** results indicate that the proposed MTV-WOA can efficiently address the complexities of engineering challenges and provide superior solutions that are superior to those of other algorithms.

Multi-objective optimization is critical for problem-solving in engineering,economics,and *** study introduces the Multi-Objective Chef-Based Optimization Algorithm(MOCBOA),an upgraded version of the Chef-Based Optimization Algorithm(CBOA)that addresses distinct *** approach is unique in systematically examining four dominance relations—Pareto,Epsilon,Cone-epsilon,and Strengthened dominance—to evaluate their influence on sustaining solution variety and driving convergence toward the Pareto *** comparison investigation,which was conducted on fifty test problems from the CEC 2021 benchmark and applied to areas such as chemical engineering,mechanical design,and power systems,reveals that the dominance approach used has a considerable impact on the key optimization measures such as the hypervolume *** paper provides a solid foundation for determining themost effective dominance approach and significant insights for both theoretical research and practical applications in multi-objective optimization.

Thinking space came into being with the emergence of human civilization. With the emergence and development of cyberspace, the interaction between those two spaces began to take place. In the collision of thinking and technology, new changes have taken place in both thinking space and cyberspace. To this end, this paper divides the current integration and development of thinking space and cyberspace into three stages, namely Internet of brain(IoB), Internet of thought(IoTh), and Internet of thinking(IoTk). At each stage, the contents and technologies to achieve convergence and connection of spaces are discussed. Besides, the Internet of creation(IoC) is proposed to represent the future development of thinking space and cyberspace. Finally, a series of open issues are raised, and they will become thorny factors in the development of the Io C stage.

N-of-one differential gene expression without control samples using a deep generative model

Differential analysis of bulk RNA-seq data often suffers from lack of good controls. Here, we present a generative model that replaces controls, trained solely on healthy tissues. The unsupervised model learns a low-dimensional representation and can identify the closest normal representation for a given disease sample. This enables control-free, single-sample differential expression analysis. In breast cancer, we demonstrate how our approach selects marker genes and outperforms a state-of-the-art method. Furthermore, significant genes identified by the model are enriched in driver genes across cancers. Our results show that the in silico closest normal provides a more favorable comparison than control samples. © 2023, The Author(s).

Applying Competition-Based Learning to Stimulate Students' Practical and Competitive AI Ability in a Machine Learning Curriculum

Contribution: This study incorporates competition-based learning (CBL) into machine learning courses. By engaging students in innovative problem-solving challenges within information competitions, revealing that students' participation in online problem-solving competitions can improve their information technology, and showcase competitions can enhance their competition ability. Background: The CBL model seamlessly integrates project-based learning and competition, placing a strong emphasis on both collective learning and outcomes. This approach cultivates motivation among team members, driving them to enhance their learning and translate knowledge into practical experience. research Questions: The objective is to examine the disparities in the development of theoretical knowledge, information technology, AI practical ability, and competition ability among students participating in online problem-solving competitions and showcase competitions, and discusses the potential moderating effect of competition type on the relationships between variables in the hypothetical model. Methodology: The study involved 74 students enrolled in machine learning course at a university. The students were given theoretical knowledge and information technology pretests and posttests in the 2nd and 17th weeks, respectively. In the 18th week, the students presented their projects using slideshows and were graded by judges while also submitting their final competition proposal and slides. Findings: Students in online problem-solving competitions can enhance their information technology, while those participating in showcase competitions can improve their competitive ability. Moreover, the competition type was found to moderate the relationships among theoretical knowledge, information technology, and AI model accuracy. The findings suggest that incorporating CBL into machine learning courses effectively cultivates students' AI practical and competitive abilities. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Applying differential privacy (DP) by means of the DP-SGD algorithm to protect individual data points during training is becoming increasingly popular in NLP. However, the choice of granularity at which DP is applied is often neglected. For example, neural machine translation (NMT) typically operates on the sentence-level granularity. From the perspective of DP, this setup assumes that each sentence belongs to a single person and any two sentences in the training dataset are independent. This assumption is however violated in many real-world NMT datasets, e.g., those including dialogues. For proper application of DP we thus must shift from sentences to entire documents. In this paper, we investigate NMT at both the sentence and document levels, analyzing the privacy/utility trade-off for both scenarios, and evaluating the risks of not using the appropriate privacy granularity in terms of leaking personally identifiable information (PII). Our findings indicate that the document-level NMT system is more resistant to membership inference attacks, emphasizing the significance of using the appropriate granularity when working with DP. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.
