Foundation models(FMs) [1] have revolutionized software development and become the core components of large software systems. This paradigm shift, however, demands fundamental re-imagining of software engineering theories and methodologies [2]. Instead of replacing existing software modules implemented by symbolic logic, incorporating FMs' capabilities to build software systems requires entirely new modules that leverage the unique capabilities of ***, while FMs excel at handling uncertainty, recognizing patterns, and processing unstructured data, we need new engineering theories that support the paradigm shift from explicitly programming and maintaining user-defined symbolic logic to creating rich, expressive requirements that FMs can accurately perceive and implement.

AI-Enhanced Lung Cancer Prediction: A Hybrid Model's Precision Triumph

Lung cancer is considered one of the most dangerous cancers, with a 5-year survival rate, ranking the disease among the top three deadliest cancers globally. Effectively combating lung cancer requires early detection for timely targeted interventions. However, ensuring early detection poses a major challenge, giving rise to innovative approaches. The emergence of artificial intelligence offers revolutionary solutions for predicting cancer. While marking a significant healthcare shift, the imperative to enhance artificial intelligence models remains a focus, particularly in precision medicine. This study introduces a hybrid deep learning model, incorporating Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Networks (BiLSTM), designed for lung cancer detection from patients' medical notes. Comparative analysis with the MIMIC IV dataset reveals the model's superiority, achieving an MCC of 96.2% with an Accuracy of 98.1%, and outperforming LSTM and BioBERT with an MCC of 93.5 %, an accuracy of 97.0% and MCC of 95.5 with an accuracy of 98.0% respectively. Another comprehensive comparison was conducted with state-of-the-art results using the Yelp Review Polarity dataset. Remarkably, our model significantly outperforms the compared models, showcasing its superior performance and potential impact in the field. This research signifies a significant stride toward precise and early lung cancer detection, emphasizing the ongoing necessity for Artificial Intelligence model refinement in precision medicine. Hybrid heuristic driving training-rider optimization algorithm for QoS-aware multicast communication system in MANET

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is broadly applicable in various sectors within a short amount of time, which is connected to mobile developments. However, the communication in the MANET faces several issues like synchronization, managing power, resources, and routing management. Often, finding the optimal path in the MANET becomes complicated in the existing approaches. In this work, the latest QoS-assisted multiple-cast communication system in MANET is presented using hybridized approaches for better communication over the MANET domain. Especially, an Exploitation-assisted Driving Training-Rider Optimization (EDT-RO) model is suggested for the multicast routing in MANET. The developed EDT-RO algorithm optimizes the paths for communication in MANET, where the network considers more than two receivers. The proposed EDT-RO-based multicast routing algorithm aims to attain the objective function considering the data packet delivery rate, the throughput, the end-to-end latency, and the Quality of Service (QoS). Throughout the result analysis, the offered model shows better performance in terms of 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.5%, and 1.5% than DHOA, Jaya, DTBO, and ROA regarding mean. Simulations are conducted by comparing with other optimization algorithms used for QoS-assisted multiple casts routing to showcase and attain better routing performance of the developed models. ©, Engineers Australia.

Neutrosophic Fuzzy Power Management (NFPM): Tackling Uncertainty in Energy Harvesting for Sensor Networks

This paper presents a novel approach known as Neutrosophic Fuzzy Power Management (NFPM) aimed at addressing the critical challenge of uncertain energy availability in Energy Harvesting Sensor Networks (EHWSNs). The main objective of this research is to enhance the management of energy resources within these networks, which traditional fuzzy logic methods often fail to do, leading to power failures and reduced reliability. NFPM utilizes neutrosophic logic to effectively model uncertainty by representing the degrees of truth, indeterminacy, and falsity of both harvested and residual energy levels. Through a fuzzy inference system, NFPM dynamically allocates energy budgets for each time slot based on these neutrosophic sets, resulting in more adaptive and conservative energy distribution. The results are validated through numerical examples and extensive simulations, demonstrating NFPM's superiority over traditional fuzzy logic, with significant improvements such as a 25% reduction in power failures, 95% enhanced network connectivity, a 15% increase in data transmission success rates, and overall improvements in energy efficiency and robustness to fluctuations and noise. This research establishes NFPM as a promising solution to the uncertainties inherent in EHWSNs. Future research directions include exploring the integration of NFPM with machine learning algorithms for predictive energy management, assessing its scalability in larger networks, and examining its applicability in other domains requiring energy management under uncertainty. © 2025, University of New Mexico. Enhancing link prediction in graph data augmentation through graphon mixup

Link prediction in complex networks is a fundamental problem with applications in diverse domains, from social networks to biological systems. Traditional approaches often struggle to capture intricate relationships in graphs, leading to suboptimal predictions. To address this, we introduce a novel method called graphon mixup (GM), which leverages the power of graphons to enhance link prediction. The augmentation strategy involves generating a synthetic graph by combining the original graph with a graphon-based synthetic graph. This process, expressed as a weighted combination of adjacency matrices, strategically blends real and synthetic information, enriching the training dataset. GM formulates link prediction as a joint optimization problem, aligning the characteristics of the synthetic graph with the true underlying structure. The objective is to minimize cross-entropy loss between predicted and true edge probabilities. A detailed computational complexity analysis evaluates the time and space requirements, aiding in understanding the efficiency and scalability of GM across different datasets and network sizes. Empirical validation on benchmark datasets demonstrates GM’s effectiveness in consistently improving average precision across diverse network types. Monitoring COVID-19 environment: a real-time facial mask detection using YOLO models

Purpose: The rapid spread of COVID-19 has resulted in significant harm and impacted tens of millions of people globally. In order to prevent the transmission of the virus, individuals often wear masks as a protective measure for themselves and others. Coronavirus protection guidelines have been published by the World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO standards, COVID-19 can be prevented by wearing a mask in public places and congested regions. In these places, it is very difficult to personally check to see if people are wearing face masks or not. Methods: The objective of this research work is to build a powerful, efficient, and real-time approach for detecting people not wearing masks. Three cutting-edge object identification models, namely YOLOv4, Tiny-YOLOv4, and YOLOv5, are employed in this study for the identification of masked faces. Result: The proposed YOLOv5 model is evaluated using real-time images captured using a smartphone or tablet. The test images include both single and multiple people with and without masks. The YOLOv5 model achieved recognition accuracy of 88.90% with an average detection speed of 0.0316 s per image, whereas the YOLOv4 and Tiny-YOLOv4 produced recognition accuracy of 82.24% and 74.80% with an average detection speed of 0.0530 s and 0.0541 s per image, respectively. Conclusion: The comparative performance suggests that the YOLOv5 model has a maximum recognition accuracy of 88.90% in face mask identification tasks compared to other models such as the YOLOv4 and Tiny-YOLOv4. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to The Brazilian Society of Biomedical engineering 2025.

Researchers have recently created several deep learning strategies for various tasks, and facial recognition has made remarkable progress in employing these techniques. Face recognition is a noncontact, nonobligatory, acceptable, and harmonious biometric recognition method with a promising national and social security future. The purpose of this paper is to improve the existing face recognition algorithm, investigate extensive data-driven face recognition methods, and propose a unique automated face recognition methodology based on generative adversarial networks (GANs) and the center symmetric multivariable local binary pattern (CS-MLBP). To begin, this paper employs the center symmetric multivariant local binary pattern (CS-MLBP) algorithm to extract the texture features of the face, addressing the issue that C2DPCA (column-based two-dimensional principle component analysis) does an excellent job of removing the global characteristics of the face but struggles to process the local features of the face under large samples. The extracted texture features are combined with the international features retrieved using C2DPCA to generate a multifeatured face. The proposed method, GAN-CS-MLBP, syndicates the power of GAN with the robustness of CS-MLBP, resulting in an accurate and efficient face recognition system. Deep learning algorithms, mainly neural networks, automatically extract discriminative properties from facial images. The learned features capture low-level information and high-level meanings, permitting the model to distinguish among dissimilar persons more successfully. To assess the proposed technique’s GAN-CS-MLBP performance, extensive experiments are performed on benchmark face recognition datasets such as LFW, YTF, and CASIA-WebFace. Utilization of Two Cross Two Switch for Bitonic Sorting Circuit

Background: The synthesis of reversible logic has gained prominence as a crucial research area, particularly in the context of post-CMOS computing devices, notably quantum computing. Objective: To implement the bitonic sorting circuit, 2x2 switch, is used. The overarching objective of implementing a reversible sorting circuit is to mitigate power consumption while promising secure communication. The successful implementation of the bitonic sorting circuit utilizing the proposed 2x2 switch is validated through simulations conducted in IBM Qiskit. Methods: This study begins by employing the control swap gate to implement a 2x2 switch, aimed at enabling concurrent computing operations within multiprocessor systems to enhance throughput. Subsequently, following the successful implementation of the 2x2 switch, the study proceeds to design a bitonic sorting circuit. Results: Bitonic sort using a 2x2 switch on the IBM Quantum Experience (IBMQ) platform via the QISKit SDK in Python 3.6. Specifically, Qiskit v0.29.0 is utilized, with OpenQASM. OpenQASM serves as the quantum assembly and instruction language. Conclusion: This work presents a methodology for constructing a 2x2 switch, utilizing a reversible control swap gate as its core component. Additionally, it demonstrates the intricate development and implementation of a bitonic sorting circuit, capitalizing on this innovative switch architecture. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.
