Plastic foam molding methods include thermoforming, extrusion and injection molding. Injection foam molding is a one-time molding method with high production efficiency and good product quality. It is suitable for foamed plastic products with complex shapes and strict size requirements. It is also the main method for producing structural bubbles. In this investigation, we developed a structural foam injection molding technology using the gas supply equipment connected to the unique plasticizing mechanism of the injection machine and studied its influence on the specimens’ melt rheology quality and foam structures. In the experiment, the forming material was polypropylene (PP), and the gas for mixing/forming foaming characteristics was nitrogen (N2). Additionally, in order to observe the rheological properties of N2/melt mixing, a melt flow specimen mold cavity was designed and the change in the melt viscosity index was observed using a melt pressure sensing element installed at the nozzle position. With the nitrogen supply equipment connected to a unique plasticizing mechanism, the mixing of gas and molten plastic can be achieved at the screw plasticizing stage, where the foaming effect is realized during the melt-filling process due to the thermodynamic instability of the gas. It was also found that an increase in N2 fill content increased melt fluidity, and the trend of melt pressure and melt viscosity index showed that the higher the gas content, the lower the trend. The foaming characteristic depends on the gas thermodynamic instability and the pressure release, so it can be seen from the melt fill path that, the greater the pressure near the gate, the lower the foaming amount and the internal structure (SEM) after molding;the farther from the gate, the greater the relative increase in the foaming growth/amount. This phenomenon will be more obvious when the N2 fill content is increased. © 2023 by the authors.

Conventional boost converters operating with hard-switching result in low conversion efficiency and increased electromagnetic interference emissions. In this paper, a cost-efficient passive snubber is proposed with a few additional components: two diodes, one capacitor, and one inductor. Moreover, because these snubber components are not located on the main power processing path, they only require low ratings, resulting in improved cost-effectiveness.

This research demonstrates the improvement in antenna gain by utilizing an EBG reflector. The EBG reflector includes a unit cell with grooves shaped like the letters M and W to mitigate surface waves at a frequency of 2.45 GHz. The suggested EBG reflector is constructed on an FR-4 substrate exhibiting a uniform dielectric constant of 4.3, a loss tangent of 0.025, and a thickness of 1.6 mm. Furthermore, the impact of boosting the antenna gain can be analyzed by the reflection phase diagram, which exhibits values ranging from +90° to -90° at the resonant frequency of the reflector. The proposed EBG reflector comprises 5x5 unit cells. The testing results of the reflector's performance, when integrated with a general dipole antenna, indicate that it can effectively respond to the resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz, with a |S 11 | level below -10 dB within the frequency range of 2.2 GHz to 2.6 GHz, thereby adequately covering the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n band. The suggested EBG reflector exhibits a gain of around 6.5 dBi at 2.45 GHz, indicating its efficacy in enhancing gain relative to the standard PEC reflector. Moreover, the radiation pattern is also directional.

This study aims to investigate the use of artificial intelligence in health education in the last ten years from 2012 to 2022 using the Scopus database. Researchers use bibliometric analysis combined with the quantification method of Vosviewer and Rstudio software used for literature analysis. The results of the article that were flushed showed data such as the year of publication, journal, country, keywords, and authors, to the highest number of citations. The general keywords used by researchers are artificial intelligence, medical, and education. Researchers limit findings through keywords as in the last ten years and English only so that 1681 articles were obtained. According to the study's findings, McGill University affiliation had the greatest number of papers, with 69 pieces, and medicine had a proportion of 39.7% (n = 1067). This bibliometric study will be useful for other researchers to examine the development of research on artificial intelligence in health education in the last ten years. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Characteristic variability induced by process variation effect (PVE) is one of technological challenges in semiconductor industry. In this work, we computationally study electrical characteristic and power fluctuations induced by six factors of PVE of the gate-all-around (GAA) silicon (Si) nanosheet (NS) complementary field-effect-transistors (CFETs) which are formed by vertically stacking n-FET on top of p-FET. Among the six factors, NS thickness (TNS), NS width (WNS), and gate length (LG) are identified as crucial factors contributing to large variations in device characteristics. The p-FET exhibits substantial off-state current fluctuation (about 151%) due to the bottom parasitic channel leakages. Compared with the magnitudes of dynamic and short circuit powers, the static power is marginal, but it possesses the largest fluctuation (up to 148%). If we assume that each factor of PVE has the same probability distribution as the others and all are mutually independent, the statistical sum of their power fluctuations will exhibit more than 50% overestimations, compared with the results when all factors are considered simultaneously. © 2020 IEEE.

Empower Nested Boolean Logic via Self-Supervised Curriculum Learning

Beyond the great cognitive powers showcased by language models, it is crucial to scrutinize whether their reasoning capabilities stem from strong generalization or merely exposure to relevant data. As opposed to constructing increasingly complex logic, this paper probes into the boolean logic, the root capability of a logical reasoner. We find that any pre-trained language models even including large language models only behave like a random selector in the face of multi-nested boolean logic, a task that humans can handle with ease. To empower language models with this fundamental capability, this paper proposes a new self-supervised learning method Curriculum Logical Reasoning (CLR), where we augment the training data with nested boolean logic chain step-by-step, and program the training from simpler logical patterns gradually to harder ones. This new training paradigm allows language models to effectively generalize to much harder and longer-hop logic, which can hardly be learned through naive training. The College of engineering & Applied science at the University of Colorado Boulder proposes a low-cost, online, accredited Bachelor of science in engineering (BSE) degree. The BSE will provide a pathway for community college (CC) students, or students with similar transfer credits, to complete a degree in engineering at a cost similar to attending CC. The educationally underserved communities across Colorado are often low-income, racially and ethnically diverse, and rural;the BSE's primary goal is to provide access to an engineering education for these students and, thus, open pathways to high-demand, high-wage careers. The BSE will reach an underserved population of learners who can stay in their local community while simultaneously pursuing an engineering education. A fully online, ABET-accredited engineering degree is surprisingly novel-only nine other online engineering degrees in the nation are accredited-but an R1-level university degree at a near-community-college cost is unprecedented. The BSE will invite the institution's best instructors to innovate in online education-virtual labs, team-based projects, flipped asynchronous discussions, and hybrid-learning activities. Student success support will include wrap-around advising to foster the development of the academic, affective, financial, and career support that students need to succeed in engineering. The BSE will utilize five administrative affordances: 1) success coaches to provide wrap-around support and guidance to students;2) course facilitators who provide personalized support;3) stackable credentials;4) eight-week semesters, allowing students to quickly complete portions of their education;and 5) mentorship programming to foster community and to help students develop their (inter)disciplinary identity. The online BSE creates a new pathway for underserved students to matriculate to a flagship public research university for a degree in engineering.
