Load-balancing is critical in cloud-computing for optimizing workload distribution and making the most use of available resources, which in turn speeds up the system's total response time. There have been several tactics and methodologies proposed to handle load balancing-related issues such as task scheduling, migration, resource use, and others. This study offered numerous solutions to the crucial problem of load-balancing in cloud-computing. The difficulties regarding Load-balancing been examined by contrasting the methods put forth by researchers during the last six years. Many techniques have been proposed, however some issues, such as VM migration and unsolved fault tolerance issues, continue in the cloud setting. © 2023 IEEE.

Building Automation Systems(BASs)are seeing increased usage in modern society due to the plethora of benefits they provide such as automation for climate control,HVAC systems,entry systems,and lighting *** BASs in use are outdated and suffer from numerous vulnerabilities that stem from the design of the underlying BAS *** this paper,we provide a comprehensive,up-to-date survey on BASs and attacks against seven BAS protocols including BACnet,EnOcean,KNX,LonWorks,Modbus,ZigBee,and *** studies of secure BAS protocols are also presented,covering BACnet Secure Connect,KNX Data Secure,KNX/IP Secure,ModBus/TCP Security,EnOcean High Security and Z-Wave *** and ZigBee do not have security *** point out how these security protocols improve the security of the BAS and what issues remain.A case study is provided which describes a real-world BAS and showcases its vulnerabilities as well as recommendations for improving the security of *** seek to raise awareness to those in academia and industry as well as highlight open problems within BAS security.

A Software Defect Prediction Method Using a Multivariate Heterogeneous Hybrid Deep Learning Algorithm

Software defect prediction plays a critical role in software development and quality assurance processes. Effective defect prediction enables testers to accurately prioritize testing efforts and enhance defect detection efficiency. Additionally, this technology provides developers with a means to quickly identify errors, thereby improving software robustness and overall quality. However, current research in software defect prediction often faces challenges, such as relying on a single data source or failing to adequately account for the characteristics of multiple coexisting data sources. This approach may overlook the differences and potential value of various data sources, affecting the accuracy and generalization performance of prediction results. To address this issue, this study proposes a multivariate heterogeneous hybrid deep learning algorithm for defect prediction (DP-MHHDL). Initially, Abstract Syntax Tree (AST), Code Dependency Network (CDN), and code static quality metrics are extracted from source code files and used as inputs to ensure data diversity. Subsequently, for the three types of heterogeneous data, the study employs a graph convolutional network optimization model based on adjacency and spatial topologies, a Convolutional Neural Network-Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (CNN-BiLSTM) hybrid neural network model, and a TabNet model to extract data features. These features are then concatenated and processed through a fully connected neural network for defect prediction. Finally, the proposed framework is evaluated using ten promise defect repository projects, and performance is assessed with three metrics: F1, Area under the curve (AUC), and Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing methods, offering a novel solution for software defect prediction.

The COVID-19 pathological test can be carried out with a sample taken from the nose, the back of the throat, or both, using a special swab. Currently, laboratories are checking through a process called Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) on a collected sample from the suspected person. PCR is used to find genetic material on the virus. PCR amplifies the genetic material such that the virus can be detected easily. In general, the PCR process is used to match the genetic material with the virus that causes COVID-19 is unique. Blood tests are also can be done to detect if a person has previously been exposed to the virus or not. This blood test is useful for knowing if a person may have developed immunity. In our paper, we propose a unique technique which will work on the microscopic image of Coronavirus affected tissue and detects the tissue is affected or damaged by the Coronavirus or not. In this research, we use the microscopic image(s) of a smear of epithelial throat/bronchial tract tissue. Firstly, image smoothing is conducted, and then Region of Interest (ROI) is detected. Then that 24-bit colour image (ROI) is converted to grey to bi-colour images using edge detection by setting a threshold. At last, the contours is detected and counted. In our technique, the resultant contours are the affected areas, and the count is the number of possible affected areas, an approximation. Thus, the infection depth can be guessed. Our technique is not only detecting the infection but also identifies the approximate number of attacked spots in a specific tissue area. This study presents an overview on intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)-enabled sensing and communication for the forthcoming sixth-generation(6G) wireless networks, in which IRSs are strategically deployed to proactively reconfigure wireless environments to improve both sensing and communication(S&C) performance. First, we exploit a single IRS to enable wireless sensing in the base station's(BS's) non-line-of-sight(NLoS) area. In particular, we present three IRS-enabled NLoS target sensing architectures with fully-passive, semi-passive, and active IRSs, respectively. We compare their pros and cons by analyzing the fundamental sensing performance limits for target detection and parameter estimation. Next, we consider a single IRS to facilitate integrated sensing and communication(ISAC), in which the transmit signals at the BS are used for achieving both S&C functionalities, aided by the IRS through reflective beamforming. We present joint transmit signal and receiver processing designs for realizing efficient ISAC, and jointly optimize the transmit beamforming at the BS and reflective beamforming at the IRS to balance the fundamental performance tradeoff between S&C. Furthermore, we discuss multi-IRS networked ISAC, by particularly focusing on multi-IRS-enabled multi-link ISAC, multi-region ISAC, and ISAC signal routing, respectively. Finally, we highlight various promising research topics in this area to motivate future work.

A Novel Enhanced Approach for Security and Privacy Preserving in IoT Devices with Federal Learning Technique

The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized our lives, but it has also introduced significant security and privacy challenges. The vast amount of data collected by these devices, often containing sensitive information, makes them prime targets for cyberattacks. Traditional security methods struggle to keep pace with the evolving threat landscape of the interconnected IoT world. In response, this paper explores the transformative potential of federated learning (FL) in safeguarding both the privacy and security of IoT devices. FL keeps data on individual devices, only sharing updated models, not raw data, thus protecting user privacy and eliminating the need for a central data storage server, which reduces the risk of data breaches and security vulnerabilities. The effectiveness of the proposed model is evaluated using established open-source datasets like NSL-KDD and UNSW NB15, ensuring real-world applicability. Analysis of the dataset's features enabled the development of a model utilizing federated learning. Notably, the proposed model achieved superior performance with FL in detecting attacks on IoT networks. Furthermore, this research investigates the transformative potential of FL to address the inherent security and privacy challenges plaguing traditional, centralized data collection methods in the ever-expanding realm of IoT devices. FL empowers collaborative learning on distributed datasets, allowing devices to collectively improve security without compromising user privacy. The findings of this study demonstrate the promise of FL as a secure and privacy-preserving solution for the future of IoT. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Due to the dynamic nature and node mobility,assuring the security of Mobile Ad-hoc Networks(MANET)is one of the difficult and challenging tasks *** MANET,the Intrusion Detection System(IDS)is crucial because it aids in the identification and detection of malicious attacks that impair the network’s regular *** machine learning and deep learning methodologies are used for this purpose in the conventional works to ensure increased security of ***,it still has significant flaws,including increased algorithmic complexity,lower system performance,and a higher rate of ***,the goal of this paper is to create an intelligent IDS framework for significantly enhancing MANET security through the use of deep learning ***,the min-max normalization model is applied to preprocess the given cyber-attack datasets for normalizing the attributes or fields,which increases the overall intrusion detection performance of ***,a novel Adaptive Marine Predator Optimization Algorithm(AOMA)is implemented to choose the optimal features for improving the speed and intrusion detection performance of ***,the Deep Supervise Learning Classification(DSLC)mechanism is utilized to predict and categorize the type of intrusion based on proper learning and training *** evaluation,the performance and results of the proposed AOMA-DSLC based IDS methodology is validated and compared using various performance measures and benchmarking datasets.
