A Software Defect Prediction Method Using a Multivariate Heterogeneous Hybrid Deep Learning Algorithm

Software defect prediction plays a critical role in software development and quality assurance processes. Effective defect prediction enables testers to accurately prioritize testing efforts and enhance defect detection efficiency. Additionally, this technology provides developers with a means to quickly identify errors, thereby improving software robustness and overall quality. However, current research in software defect prediction often faces challenges, such as relying on a single data source or failing to adequately account for the characteristics of multiple coexisting data sources. This approach may overlook the differences and potential value of various data sources, affecting the accuracy and generalization performance of prediction results. To address this issue, this study proposes a multivariate heterogeneous hybrid deep learning algorithm for defect prediction (DP-MHHDL). Initially, Abstract Syntax Tree (AST), Code Dependency Network (CDN), and code static quality metrics are extracted from source code files and used as inputs to ensure data diversity. Subsequently, for the three types of heterogeneous data, the study employs a graph convolutional network optimization model based on adjacency and spatial topologies, a Convolutional Neural Network-Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (CNN-BiLSTM) hybrid neural network model, and a TabNet model to extract data features. These features are then concatenated and processed through a fully connected neural network for defect prediction. Finally, the proposed framework is evaluated using ten promise defect repository projects, and performance is assessed with three metrics: F1, Area under the curve (AUC), and Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing methods, offering a novel solution for software defect prediction.

Utilization of Two Cross Two Switch for Bitonic Sorting Circuit

Background: The synthesis of reversible logic has gained prominence as a crucial research area, particularly in the context of post-CMOS computing devices, notably quantum computing. Objective: To implement the bitonic sorting circuit, 2x2 switch, is used. The overarching objective of implementing a reversible sorting circuit is to mitigate power consumption while promising secure communication. The successful implementation of the bitonic sorting circuit utilizing the proposed 2x2 switch is validated through simulations conducted in IBM Qiskit. Methods: This study begins by employing the control swap gate to implement a 2x2 switch, aimed at enabling concurrent computing operations within multiprocessor systems to enhance throughput. Subsequently, following the successful implementation of the 2x2 switch, the study proceeds to design a bitonic sorting circuit. Results: Bitonic sort using a 2x2 switch on the IBM Quantum Experience (IBMQ) platform via the QISKit SDK in Python 3.6. Specifically, Qiskit v0.29.0 is utilized, with OpenQASM. OpenQASM serves as the quantum assembly and instruction language. Conclusion: This work presents a methodology for constructing a 2x2 switch, utilizing a reversible control swap gate as its core component. Additionally, it demonstrates the intricate development and implementation of a bitonic sorting circuit, capitalizing on this innovative switch architecture. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.

Agricultural production is critical to the economy. This is one of the reasons why disease detection in plants is so important in agricultural settings, as plant disease is rather common. Farmers are not engaged in increasing their agricultural productivity daily since there are no technologies in the previous system to detect diseases in various crops in an agricultural environment. With the exponential population growth, food scarcity is a huge concern globally. In addition to this, the productivity of agricultural products has been highly impacted by the rapid increase in phytopathological adversities. The main challenges in leaf segmentation and plant disease identification are prior knowledge is required for segmentation, the implementation still lacks the accuracy of results, and more tweaking is required. To reduce the devastating impacts of illnesses on the economy, early detection of illnesses in plants is therefore essential. This paper describes an approach for segmenting and detecting plant leaf diseases based on images acquired via the Internet of Things (IoT) network. Here, a plant leaf area is segmented with a UNet, whose trainable parameters are optimized using the Mayfly Bald Eagle Optimization (MBEO) algorithm. Further, plant type classification is carried out by the Deep batch normalized AlexNet (DbneAlexNet), optimized by the Sine Cosine Algorithm-based Rider Neural Network (SCA-based RideNN). Finally, the DbneAlexNet, with weights adapted by the MBEO algorithm, is used to identify plant disease. The Plant Village dataset is used to evaluate the proposed DbneAlexNet-MBEO for plant-type classification and disease detection. The efficiency of the UNet-MBEO for segmentation is examined based on the Dice coefficient and Intersectin over Union (IOU) and has achieved superior values of 0.927 and 0.907. Salp swarm algorithm using lens opposition-based learning and local search for constrained optimization problems

The Salp swarm algorithm (SSA) simulates how salps forage and travel in the ocean. SSA suffers from low initial population diversity, improper balancing of exploration and exploitation, and slow convergence speed. Thus, we have proposed a novel variant of SSA (LOLSSA) by integrating lens opposition learning with the fundamental evolutionary techniques of SSA to increase the initial population variety. During exploration, the information about the local best position for each individual is effectively shared with the follower, using the salp position update process to avoid getting stuck at the local optimum. At the end of each iteration, the local search algorithm is utilized to increase exploitation. Additionally, the leader’s salp position incorporates inertia weight to speed up the convergence speed. Swarm intelligence algorithms have proven their efficacy in feature selection, since they search for an optimal set of features in a large search area that will have the best impact on the accuracy of the training system. LOLSSA is thus employed for feature selection to select informative features in 11 high-dimensional datasets, where it outperforms well-known metaheuristics in average fitness, accuracy, and average number of feature reductions. In the software-as-a-service cloud computing model, a task scheduling problem is solved to satisfy the QoS requirement of both the service provider and the user. Experiments show that LOLSSA optimizes this problem in terms of different performance metrics. LOLSSA also outperforms other metaheuristics regarding 23 well-known benchmark functions, IEEE CEC-C06 2019, and CEC-06 2020 benchmark functions, and in solving engineering design problems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Workout Action Recognition in Video Streams Using an Attention Driven Residual DC-GRU Network

Regular exercise is a crucial aspect of daily life, as it enables individuals to stay physically active, lowers thelikelihood of developing illnesses, and enhances life expectancy. The recognition of workout actions in videostreams holds significant importance in computer vision research, as it aims to enhance exercise adherence, enableinstant recognition, advance fitness tracking technologies, and optimize fitness routines. However, existing actiondatasets often lack diversity and specificity for workout actions, hindering the development of accurate recognitionmodels. To address this gap, the Workout Action Video dataset (WAVd) has been introduced as a significantcontribution. WAVd comprises a diverse collection of labeled workout action videos, meticulously curated toencompass various exercises performed by numerous individuals in different settings. This research proposes aninnovative framework based on the Attention driven Residual Deep Convolutional-Gated Recurrent Unit (ResDCGRU)network for workout action recognition in video streams. Unlike image-based action recognition, videoscontain spatio-temporal information, making the task more complex and challenging. While substantial progresshas been made in this area, challenges persist in detecting subtle and complex actions, handling occlusions,and managing the computational demands of deep learning approaches. The proposed ResDC-GRU Attentionmodel demonstrated exceptional classification performance with 95.81% accuracy in classifying workout actionvideos and also outperformed various state-of-the-art models. The method also yielded 81.6%, 97.2%, 95.6%, and93.2% accuracy on established benchmark datasets, namely HMDB51, Youtube Actions, UCF50, and UCF101,respectively, showcasing its superiority and robustness in action recognition. Multilevel characterization of unknown protein sequences using hierarchical long short term memory model

Multilevel characterization of the recently developed Unknown Protein Sequence (UPS) is significant for the drug-designing, disease-diagnosis, and treatment plans. UPS can demonstrate harmful as well as useful characters. Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) based Multilevel Protein Characterization (ML_PC) model using Neuro-Fuzzy Classifier (NFC) and transfer learning has been proposed in this paper for characteristics, species, and function prediction of the UPS. Gram Negative (GN) dataset with known 2286 protein sequences, is used for formation and validation of the ML_PC model. Thereafter NFC is applied at initial stage of the validated ML_PC model to filter the 518 independent protein sequences of the UPS dataset as GN or Non-GN in context with known GN dataset. However, NFC is competent to handle likelihood classification complications of supervised learning. Characteristics, species, and functions of the filtered GN UPS have been predicted in succeeding levels of the ML_PC framework through Protein Characterization (PC) model. LSTM and transfer learning based PC model has been trained and validated using augmented feature of the known GN protein sequence samples, while tested with UPS and filtered GN protein sequences. Transfer learning has been applied as requisite postprocessing to overcome overfitting in the prediction of bacterial protein species with insufficient protein sequence samples. Performance of the multilevel model is improved by 7.52% after combining with transfer learning and NFC. ML_PC model has been compatible to extract relevant biological information of the UPS in context to various categories of bacterial proteins. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Resolution-aware beam scanning for joint detection and communication in ISAC systems

Beam scanning for joint detection and communication in integrated sensing and communication(ISAC) systems plays a critical role in continuous monitoring and rapid adaptation to dynamic environments. However, the design of sequential scanning beams for target detection with the required sensing resolution has not been tackled in the *** bridge this gap, this paper introduces a resolution-aware beam scanning design. In particular, the transmit information beamformer, the covariance matrix of the dedicated radar signal, and the receive beamformer are jointly optimized to maximize the average sum rate of the system while satisfying the sensing resolution and detection probability requirements.A block coordinate descent(BCD)-based optimization framework is developed to address the non-convex design problem. By exploiting successive convex approximation(SCA), S-procedure, and semidefinite relaxation(SDR), the proposed algorithm is guaranteed to converge to a stationary solution with polynomial time complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed design can efficiently handle the stringent detection requirement and outperform existing antenna-activation-based methods in the literature by exploiting the full degrees of freedom(DoFs) brought by all antennas.

An efficient botnet detection approach based on feature learning and classification

Bot detection is considered a crucial security issue that is extensively analysed in various existingapproaches. Machine Learning is an efficient way of botnet attack detection. Bot detectionis the major issue faced by the existing system. This research concentrates on adopting a graphbasedfeature learning process to reduce feature dimensionality. The incoming samples arecorrectly classified and optimised using an Adaboost classifier with an improved grey wolfoptimiser (g-AGWO). The proposed IGWO optimisation approach is adopted to fulfil the multiconstraintissues related to bot detection and provide better local and global solutions (to satisfyexploration and exploitation). The extensive results show that the proposed g-AGWO model outperformsexisting approaches to reduce feature dimensionality, under-fitting/over-fitting andexecution time. The error rate prediction shows the feasibility of the given model to work over thechallenging environment. This model also works efficiently towards the unseen data to achievebetter generalization.
