An Empirical Survey on the Classification Strategies for Automated Alzheimer’s Disease

The early Alzheimer’s disease (AD) classification is highly important as this neuro-degenerative disease causes severe problems particularly, loss of memory among the patients. In addition, classifying Normal Control (NC), Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and AD in time assists the patient to undergo treatments in the initial period of the disease. Hence, it is necessary to develop a trust worthy categorization model to classify the patients with or without AD. One of principal modalities commonly used for AD classification is the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the analysis of which achieved improved classification performance in categorizing the stages of AD. Hence, this review paper presents the detailed survey of 55 research articles showing different strategies to classify AD. The two important categories of the research papers are the methods using machine learning strategies, and the methods using deep learning strategies. The papers are classified based on various modalities, datasets, performance indices, and the software tools used for implementation. In addition to this, various research gaps and the challenges associated with the existing works of AD classification are discussed. In addition, this review provides the future scope for researchers with the analysis of research issues seen in the literary works. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

WGSDMM+GA: A genetic algorithm-based service clustering methodology assimilating dirichlet multinomial mixture model with word embedding

Advancement of web 2.0 results in the expeditious growth of services in repositories and service portals, which raises the demand for service management. With the clusters of services, different processes like discovery, selection, ranking, etc., can be expedited efficiently. K-Means clustering is highly recommended for service clustering but it can be stuck in the local optimum values. Developers generally use short text to describe the functionality of Web services. For effective service clustering, it is required that relevant features of services are mapped in vector space based on semantic relations. Gibbs Sampling algorithm for Dirichlet Multinomial Mixture model (GSDMM) model is able to provide good performance on short text because it works on the assumption that there will be one topic related to one document. In this paper, a novel technique for web service clustering, i.e., WGSDMM+GA, is proposed in which relevant features, semantic relations, and their mappings in vector space are analyzed based on an assimilated approach of Word2Vec and GSDMM models. As K-means clustering cannot provide effective results due to local optima problem, GA-based clustering is applied in which fitness function is based on Manhattan distance. The proposed model is applied to five real-time datasets, and the performance is evaluated based on standard evaluation measures. Experimental results illustrate that WGSDMM+GA yields better results, and the accuracy score is increased by 23%, 17%,17%, 21%, and 25% on five real-time datasets. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

With rapidly expanding cloud-enabled big data environments, there is an imperative need for efficient data-sharing mechanisms that are multidimensional and balance both speed and security. In this connection, high-speed compression and secure authentication come forth playing a very crucial role. The two significant challenges addressed in this framework are data compression for efficient storage and transmission and robust authentication for secure access and integrity of shared data. This way, the framework compresses data size significantly without losing its quality, leading to efficient, faster data transfers and reduced considerably storage costs on cloud infrastructures. At the same time, secure authentication mechanisms [1] such as cryptography techniques and multi-factor authentication ensure that only authorized users access sensitive data, thus protected from potential unauthorized access or cyber-attacks. Integration of both capabilities speed compression and secure authentication-functionalizes big data environments to their peak performance and security. This framework is highly suitable for high-scale data-oriented industries like healthcare, finance, and IoT, which necessitate high-speed, secure, and reliable data sharing. Ultimately, this approach improves scalability and security in cloud-enabled big data systems by enabling organizations to keep pace with growing needs for highly efficient and secure data sharing in a highly dynamic environment. © 2025 IEEE.

Nowadays, trust management plays a significant role in different applications like commercial applications, Internet of Things (IoT) based applications, social networking applications, cloud computing-based applications, sensor networks, online services, and many more. Thus, it is an important research area for industry and engineering research communities. The concept of trust is mainly derived from long-term sociological and psychological human behaviour. It is used for decision-making purposes in different contexts and perspectives. Many growing research studies address the development of trust computation models using different approaches in different areas, such as cloud computing, P2P networks, online social network, etc. Still, most of the prior work does not provide a comprehensive systematic review of different trust management systems nor provide sufficient details about the computation process. In this paper, we have discussed a systematic review of the existing trust management systems by indicating the limitation of previous works. A systematic review started with research question identification, followed by searching and filtration of relevant works, and ended with a comparison and final report. A detailed comparative study of trust computational models will help understand the security and privacy aspects of trust. This survey provides a detailed study of each trust taxonomy and computation model in different online computing environments. The survey result finds several trust computation techniques. The results also say that trust in the online computing environment provides greater security and protection against several threats and attacks. A comprehensive review and open issues on energy aware resource allocation in cloud

Cloud computing is an on-demand service resource that includes applications to data centres on a pay-per-use basis. While allocating resources, the node failure causes the cloud service failures. This reduces the quality of service along with ‘extra’ energy consumption. This survey makes an evaluation on 65 papers regarding energy aware resource allocation (RA) techniques in cloud. The performances and associated highest attainments of each contribution are described in this review. In addition, the tools used for implementing the RA techniques in each paper along with type of workloads were considered. We examine a number of current or developed energy-aware RA approaches for cloud settings in this study. We also provide a thorough analysis of the various energy-conscious RA and selection strategies for cloud-based virtual machines. Lastly, the clear sketch of issues and weakness are determined that may be supportive to resolve the existing problems in this aspect. Copyright © 2022 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

An Optimised Task Scheduling of Remote Sensing Data Processing for Smart Patient Health Monitoring

In healthcare, remote sensing technologies are popular for smart patient health monitoring. Real-time health assessment and early intervention are possible using remote sensing data from wearable sensors and imaging equipment. However, processing and analysing huge remote sensing data are complex. Task scheduling improves processing workflow for accurate and fast health monitoring. This research offered the optimised task scheduling of remote sensing data processing for smart patient health monitoring, to describe the processing activities such as data preparation, task scheduling algorithms, and decision-making involved in data analysis from remote sensing. We used datasets associated with Internet of Things (IoT) devices that patients wear as sensors on their wrists. We used min–max normalisation to standardise the data’s scale after preprocessing the data and choose the task scheduling algorithm methods to distribute work among resources effectively. We proposed the multi-objective dwarf mongoose optimised with Deep Q Network (MODMO-DQN), which aims to address the task scheduling issue for remote sensing data processing in the Internet of Things by monitoring vital sign data of faraway patients. Next, to optimise the e-health services, an optimisation module built on top of MODMO-DQN is developed. The experiment compares the variation in completion time in the remote sensing data process. The results showed that the proposed perform to compare the existing methods. This will make it possible to evaluate the suggested works in terms of throughput, latency, energy usage, and task scheduling efficiency. The performance analysis shows that the recommended method is successful and may be a feasible and efficient solution to track patient vital sign data in Internet of Things-based e-Health. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

This study makes a comprehensive assessment of the predominant Transfer Learning (TL) techniques employed for the classification of COVID-19 cases in Chest X-rays (CXR) images. The methodologies have been selected on the basis of their merits and demerits, suitability, and possible impact on the development of the region being studied. The study examines the various methods of TL employed in the classification of COVID-19 cases with the objective to gain a deeper understanding about all the aspects of these methodologies. It can be of great significance for the researchers and medical professionals in making well-informed decisions about the implementation of these techniques to improve the precision and effectiveness of COVID-19 diagnosis. The practical consequences of these techniques help in early identification of such cases for having a suitable intervention. As many as 48 studies conducted during the period 2020–2023 have been included in the current research work for having an assessment about the problem under investigation. The study has specifically focused on transfer learning-based models utilized for the identification of COVID-19 through CXR pictures. The earlier research clearly indicated that the bimodal authentication system has more efficiency than unimodal and multimodal. This is due to the reason for the best intact biometric traits of fingerprint and retina. There is a chance to additionally improve further performance of the proposed biometric trait combination by additional or alternate algorithms or methodologies. Therefore, in this research work, the multi-kernel support vector machine (MK-SVM), a machine learning classification approach, is proposed and is used for the implementation. In addition, a hybrid algorithm of fragment Jaya optimizer-based deep convolutional neural network (FJO-DCNN) approach is also used to improve the performance value for bimodal biometric authentication and classification. The recognition systems analyze both biometrics independently, and their conclusions are combined to determine whether to give or refuse access to the user in the end. Deep learning based predicting urban traffic congestion with RGB-coded images using GRU-CNN and LSTM

Road traffic management requires the ability to foresee geographical congestion conditions in an urban road traffic network. The proposed investigation is aimed to envisage the presence of blockage in a specific region of geographical location using gated recurrent unit (GRU) combined with the convolutional neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM). The data related to road traffic is extracted from the time—frequency domain of a specific urban road. The collected data is then compressed into a RGB coded image which is the input to the GRU which determines the parameters of traffic blockage in a specific region of the road. The road traffic network features are extracted from those parameters and identified using a CNN's feature extraction technology. We used LSTM model to assess the time series temporal images of the road traffic blockage and to utilize the time division to pool the flow of traffic. For model validation, CTT (Chicago Traffic Tracker) dataset network is chosen. The parameters assessed had ensured highest prediction accuracy of 98.87%, F1-score of 0.98, 0.971 of specificity, 0.987 of recall and 0.978 of precision to forecast the presence road traffic. The proposed model demonstrates a significant advancement in road traffic detection with an accuracy of 98.87%, surpassing existing models that achieve the highest accuracy of 94.3%. This represents a notable improvement of approximately 4.77% over the highest accuracy achieved by the previous models. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Robotics is an amalgamation of mechanical engineering and computer science. Mechanical engineering helps to design and develop mechanical parts and devices for control systems in robots. Space robots and robotics are known as devices that can enhance the manipulation, functionalities, and control exercised by astronauts, and thus can be called their artificial assistants for real-time exploration of space conditions. Control systems in robots like gestures and action become predominant for control, thus human-robot interaction comes into existence. AI and reinforcement learning have been used to control functionality in robots in various fields, but IoRT (Internet of robotic Things) is an emerging area of IoT that has the capabilities to monitor a variety of courses of action in robots. In this paper, we are proposing a conceptual framework based on an IoRT control system integrated with AI and reinforcement learning algorithms, which has been accessed based on multiple papers in the same domain, and it will help future researchers develop and simulate such a prototype. We are also using AKF (Adaptive Kalman Filtering) for robot tracking and noise deduction in sensors integrated with the A* algorithm. Overall, this is a concept-based framework to be designed and simulated. © 2023
