The dynamic pricing environment offers flexibility to the consumers to reschedule their switching *** the dynamic pricing environment results in several benefits to the utilities and consumers,it also poses some *** crowding among residential customers is one of such *** scheduling of loads at low-cost intervals causes crowding among residential customers,which leads to a fall in voltage of the distribution system below its prescribed *** order to prevent crowding phenomena,this paper proposes a priority-based demand response program for local energy *** the program,past contributions made by residential houses and demand are considered as essential parameters while calculating the priority *** non-linear programming(NLP)model proposed in this study seeks to reschedule loads at low-cost intervals to alleviate crowding *** the NLP model does not guarantee global optima due to its non-convex nature,a second-order cone programming model is proposed,which captures power flow characteristics and guarantees global *** proposed formulation is solved using General Algebraic Modeling System(GAMS)software and is tested on a 12.66 kV IEEE 33-bus distribution system,which demonstrates its applicability and efficacy.

Even if more and more high-quality public datasets are available, one of the biggest problems with deep learning for skin lesion diagnosis is the scarcity of training samples. Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have exhibited remarkable performance across multiple computer Vision tasks. Despite their tendency to surpass conventional machine learning methods, the models produced by these algorithms require larger datasets to be accessible during training. An increasingly popular method to deal with this problem is data augmentation, especially in domains like medical imaging where big datasets are hard to come by. Experiments on independent, unknown datasets have demonstrated improved performance using data augmentation, which creates more data to train the model. This survey devotes a lot of time to using augmentation techniques based on basic data augmentation algorithms and the pros and cons of Test Time Augmentation (TTA), Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Variational Auto-Encoders (VAEs), and Synthetic Minority Oversampling Techniques (SMOTE). The main focus of this survey is data augmentation, which addresses the problem of limited data by providing a solution within the data space. Given the severity of waste pollution as a major environmental concern, intelligent and sustainable waste management is becoming increasingly crucial in both developed and developing countries. The material composition and volume of urban solid waste are key considerations in processing, managing, and utilizing city waste. Deep learning technologies have emerged as viable solutions to address waste management issues by reducing labor costs and automating complex tasks. However, the limited number of trash image categories and the inadequacy of existing datasets have constrained the proper evaluation of machine learning model performance across a large number of waste classes. In this paper, we present robust waste image classification and object detection studies using deep learning models, utilizing 28 distinct recyclable categories of waste images comprising a total of 10,406 images. For the waste classification task, we proposed a novel dual-stream network that outperformed several state-of-the-art models, achieving an overall classification accuracy of 83.11%. Additionally, we introduced the GELAN-E (generalized efficient layer aggregation network) model for waste object detection tasks, obtaining a mean average precision (mAP50) of 63%, surpassing other state-of-the-art detection models. These advancements demonstrate significant progress in the field of intelligent waste management, paving the way for more efficient and effective solutions. © The Author(s) 2024.

Handwritten optical character recognition using TransRNN trained with self improved flower pollination algorithm (SI-FPA)

The difficulty of successfully scanning handwritten text arises from variances in style, size, and orientation, which affect handwriting optical character recognition (OCR). This study provides a novel strategy that incorporates innovative techniques for effectively addressing these difficulties. Initially, preprocessing steps involve Gaussian blur to reduce noise and CLAHE to enhance contrast, improving the visibility of text regions. Canny Edge Detection is then utilized for segmentation, followed by text localization using the Efficient and Accurate Scene Text (EAST) algorithm. Next, features are extracted via Inception V3 to capture both low-level and high-level information. From the collected characteristics, Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks are used to extract chronological data. Then, with the help of the Self-Improved Flower Pollination Algorithm (SI-FPA), features are selected using Optimized Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Finally, a combination of Transformer and Recurrent neural networks (RNNs) is used to perform text recognition, maximizing the benefits of each network’s advantages in processing sequential and contextual data. Experiments on MNST dataset with validation using different optimization algorithms show the effectiveness and resilience of the suggested method in different optimization scenarios. The combination of these methods results in a sophisticated OCR system that can recognize handwritten characters with accuracy, even under difficult conditions. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Hybrid approach for the detection of epileptic seizure using electroencephalography input

In the early days, it was difficult to study bio-electric signals, but now a days these problems have been solved by many hardware devices which are available at low cost. Even then there is a need for technical improvements to process bio-electric signals. Enormous effort has been taken for the detection of epileptic seizure from EEG signal. Considerable evidence available on Bonn university EEG dataset for epileptic seizure detection. However, deep learning algorithms have not applied often on Bonn university data like other machine learning algorithms for the detection of epileptic seizure due to the less availability of data. This work adopted machine learning and deep learning models for the detection of epileptic seizure. The data consists of a hundred subjects with sampling rate as 173.61 Hz of ‘S’ (ictal) and ‘Z’ (normal) dataset. The results show how the choice of healthy and ictic subjects through high order functional math decision like variance (STD), Power, Skewness, and Kurtosis values are analyzed to extract epileptic features. The performance of classifiers has been evaluated based on the evaluation metrics within which CGRU-SVM outperforms all other models with 97.54% accuracy. The features are extracted based on the statistical measures to detect epileptic seizure. Further, the proposed work provides more evidence on the epileptic seizure features, and it shows the new possibility for using deep learning models for epileptic seizure detection. This paper put forward an embedded scheme to execute image watermarking in light of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT), singular value decomposition (SVD) and Charge System Search (CSS) method. In the proposed scheme, Charge System Search technique is applied to advance the multiple scaling factors (MSFs). To approve the proposed scheme, six different images are used to inspect its performance and its outcomes are likewise contrasted with the past work announced in writing. COVID-19 crisis expedited the spread of e-commerce, moving beyond luxury goods and services and towards new businesses, product categories and basic necessities that are important to many people. Customers can have access to a wide range of products from the comfort and security of their homes but still have trusting issues while purchasing online. Online feedback either comments or ratings given by customers, has the power to affect how consumers make purchasing decisions. This meteoric expansion of digitized information and number of users over internet brought the use of recommender systems as a significant solution by offering more proactive and individualized information services and enable users to quickly narrow their choices and make wise ***, the majority of existing recommendation models have poor accuracy issues as a result of data scarcity and cold start issues because recommender systems only have a limited amount of explicit data and this also lead to trust issue where users are fear of being taken advantage due to misleading information on the e-commerce websites. To solve this problem and provide quality recommendations, a new trust-based approach CNN with Autoencoder Attention Mechanism (CAAM) is proposed. CAAM uses static and dynamic trust combined with the user-item preferences and pass through the auto-encoder to reduce noise and make encoded features visible. After that convolution is used to combine encoded features with user and item features in latent space to provide nonlinear mapping and increase the reliability of features and to improve the recommendations which ultimately lead to improve the trust of people over *** Epinions dataset is used to evaluate the concept in a number of measures. © 2024 IEEE.

Eye health has become a global health concern and attracted broad *** the years,researchers have proposed many state-of-the-art convolutional neural networks(CNNs)to assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing ocular diseases efficiently and ***,most existing methods were dedicated to constructing sophisticated CNNs,inevitably ignoring the trade-off between performance and model *** alleviate this paradox,this paper proposes a lightweight yet efficient network architecture,mixeddecomposed convolutional network(MDNet),to recognise ocular *** MDNet,we introduce a novel mixed-decomposed depthwise convolution method,which takes advantage of depthwise convolution and depthwise dilated convolution operations to capture low-resolution and high-resolution patterns by using fewer computations and fewer *** conduct extensive experiments on the clinical anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT),LAG,University of California San Diego,and CIFAR-100 *** results show our MDNet achieves a better trade-off between the performance and model complexity than efficient CNNs including MobileNets and ***,our MDNet outperforms MobileNets by 2.5%of accuracy by using 22%fewer parameters and 30%fewer computations on the AS-OCT dataset.

Voice biometric authentication has gained significant attention in recent years due to its non-intrusive and user-friendly nature. In this research paper, we present a comprehensive study on the effectiveness of three different spectrograms - Constant Q Transform (CQT), Mel and Gammatone at the front end of an Audio Spoof Detection (ASD) system. The back end of the system employs the Xception pretrained model. Our experimental results reveal that Gammatone Spectrograms outperform both CQT Spectrograms and Mel Spectrograms in terms of performance. Specifically, combination of Gammatone Spectrogram with Xception pretrained has achieved a remarkable 3.5% and 2% Equal Error Rate (EER) for ASVspoof 2021 DF and DECRO dataset, respectively © 2024 IEEE.

In 21st century, AI-based intelligent recommendation system uses rating predictions, which are frequently utilized and helps users swiftly filter down their options and make informed judgements from an abundance of material. Nevertheless, as recommender systems only contain a small number of explicit data and are subject to cold start and sparsity issues, the majority of existing recommendation models have poor accuracy. The majority of conventional algorithms used to make recommendations simply take into account the straight-forward connection among consumers and products, largely ignoring the interests, prospective employment factors, or other social aspects of the products being *** this study focus is on user preferences, as they are key to tailoring recommendations to individual needs. By combining trust values with user preferences, the system can recommend items that not only have a high trust value but also align with a user's individual tastes or needs. For this proposed model used feature matrix, Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) and Convolution Neural Network (CNN). GWO is an optimization algorithm used to find optimal weights or parameters for the recommendation system. Once the GWO has found optimal or near-optimal weights, they are integrated into the feature matrix. These weights can help prioritize or scale certain features to improve the recommendation quality. Then CNN will extract patterns and relationships from the feature matrix. Based on the processed feature matrix, the system predicts the top 'K' items to recommend to the user. © 2024 IEEE.
