The manual analysis of job resumes poses specific challenges, including the time-intensive process and the high likelihood of human error, emphasizing the need for automation in content-based recommendations. Recent advancements in deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for Multi-label Text Classification (MLTC), offer a promising solution for addressing these challenges through artificial intelligence. While CNN is renowned for its robust feature extraction capabilities, it faces specific challenges such as managing high-dimensional data and poor data interpretability. To address these limitations, this study employs the Fuzzy Discernibility Matrix (FDM) feature selection technique to determine the relevance of skills for each job vacancy. FDM assigns weights to the features of each job category and ranks their relevance based on the highest scores, which are then utilized in the MLTC CNN model. The integration of FDM and MLTC CNN serves as the foundation for generating content-based recommendations derived from key features in job resumes. This study produces a content-based job recommendation system that displays the top three job categories, accompanied by explanations of the skills supporting each selected category. These recommendations also consider cosine similarity values between analyzed items and the integrated results of FDM and MLTC CNN. The application of FDM for feature weighting has been proven to enhance multi-label text classification outcomes by providing better insights during the feature selection process. With a recall of 97.26%, precision of 94.81%, and accuracy of 98.58%, the MLTC model integrating FDM feature selection and CNN demonstrates robust performance characteristics in content-based job recommendation tasks. © 2025 Slovene Society Informatika. The current paper proposes a new approach for peripheral speech emotion analysis and gender estimation incorporating the best machine learning architectures such as CNNs and LSTMs. Its correct depiction of emotions and the variation of the gendered speech to indicate manifold signal-to-noise ratio make the approach accommodate the difficulty inherent in recognizing emotions from the recording of voices as well as predicting the gender of a speaker. It is then able to ally with preprocessing and collection of a vast range of different speech samples, feature extraction of pitch, tone and spectral data. These features serve as input to the CNNs and LSTMs: LSTMs work well at temporal regular features and the CNNs work well in feature extraction by location (spatio feature). The approach is tested on the RAVDESS and IEMOCAP datasets and establishes a near perfect match to prior approaches with reference to recognition accuracy of emotion analysis and gender prediction. Thus, applying the identified dual method approach, which could be described by such characteristics as highly accurate data pre-preprocessing, clear indication of the features of interest, a different CNN-LSTM model joint training, it offers a reasonably good platform to gain certain insights into such characteristics of the speech as our experiment demonstrates. This work offers satisfactory configurations on concerns such as human computer relation, customer relation and mental health surveillance to suggest that other applications could be achieved in future. © 2025 IEEE.

A transformer-based approach to Nigerian Pidgin text generation

This paper describes the development of a transformer-based text generation model for Nigerian Pidgin also known as Naijá, a popular language in West Africa. Despite its wide use, Nigerian Pidgin remains under-resourced, particularly in areas related to text generation and natural language processing. These difficulties are primarily due to technological constraints rather than the language’s fundamental attributes. There is currently a demand for Nigerian Pidgin-specific solutions because it is used in everyday communication and has a unique linguistic blend. This paper aims to close this gap by exploring the application of state-of-the-art transformer technology to develop a text generation model for Nigerian Pidgin. This work uses the public Afriberta-corpus dataset to optimize the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT-2) model across a sizeable dataset. The performance evaluators, BLEU and Perplexity metrics provide a detailed breakdown of the model’s text quality and predictive accuracy. Despite the difficulties caused by a limited amount of training data, preliminary evaluations show that the model can generate coherent Nigerian Pidgin text. The performance evaluation yielded perplexity scores of 43.56 for variable target reference length and 43.26 for fixed text length. BLEU scores of 0.15 for fixed max length and 0.56 for variable reference target length. This highlights the quality of generated text and the significant improvement when the generated text length is aligned with the reference target. Our work was benchmarked against African American Vernacular (AAVE) revealing that BLEU scores for AAVE are significantly lower than those for Standard American English, with BLEU given as 0.26. Early diagnosis requires cardiovascular disease forecasting. Past patient interests can improve machine learning predictions. This study uses a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) to augment data to address the issue of insufficient datasets. Our objective is to use the GAN and feature selection (FS) to tackle the issue of class imbalance. The study assesses the efficacy of three different machine learning (ML) algorithms in predicting coronary artery disease (CAD). The UCI repository provided the Z-Alizadeh sani dataset for our analysis. A GAN was used to balance an imbalanced dataset. We used GAN to augment data and synthesise data to improve the models. Support Vector Machine (SVM) as feature selection tool was used to extract more effective attributes. We trained and tested CAD prediction using machine learning algorithms using 5-fold cross validation. We compared the machine-learning algorithm's outcomes with and without GAN-based data enhancement and feature selection to evaluate its predicted accuracy. According to results GAN and feature selection improved accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity for all algorithms, suggesting that generated data and selected attributes can identify positive and negative cases. © 2023 IEEE.

Smartphones have grown popular in the current digital era among people. Map-based applications are one of many that are used daily by people to acquire information about specific locations. Google Maps and Waze are two popular examples of map-based applications for travel and navigation, as they provide detailed information while the user navigates from one point to another. One of the most commonly used algorithms in map-based applications is the Dijkstra algorithm. Although the Dijkstra algorithm can determine the shortest route between two points, there is an issue when the selected route involves a large number of data points that need to be processed. The more data points involved, the longer it takes to do a route calculation in the Dijkstra algorithm. This can lead to a degradation in system performance, especially on smartphones with limited resources. To address this issue, the Douglas-Peucker algorithm is proposed as a solution to reduce the number of points involved in the calculation using the line simplification technique. Line simplification means reducing unnecessary points that are considered unimportant. This study suggested that integrating the Douglas-Peucker line simplification technique before Dijkstra could improve the system performance more than the system without integrating line simplification in terms of reducing both memory usage and the time required to compute the solution. © 2023 ACM.

Autonomous robots combine skills to form increasingly complex behaviors, called missions. While skills are often programmed at a relatively low abstraction level, their coordination is architecturally separated and often expressed in higher-level languages or frameworks. State machines have been the go-to language to model behavior for decades, but recently, behavior trees have gained attention among roboticists. Originally designed to model autonomous actors in computer games, behavior trees offer an extensible tree-based representation of missions and are claimed to support modular design and code reuse. Although several implementations of behavior trees are in use, little is known about their usage and scope in the real world. How do concepts offered by behavior trees relate to traditional languages, such as state machines? How are concepts in behavior trees and state machines used in actual applications? This paper is a study of the key language concepts in behavior trees as realized in domain-specific languages (DSLs), internal and external DSLs offered as libraries, and their use in open-source robotic applications supported by the Robot Operating System (ROS). We analyze behavior-tree DSLs and compare them to the standard language for behavior models in robotics: state machines. We identify DSLs for both behavior-modeling languages, and we analyze five in-depth. We mine open-source repositories for robotic applications that use the analyzed DSLs and analyze their usage. We identify similarities between behavior trees and state machines in terms of language design and the concepts offered to accommodate the needs of the robotics domain. We observed that the usage of behavior-tree DSLs in open-source projects is increasing rapidly. We observed similar usage patterns at model structure and at code reuse in the behavior-tree and state-machine models within the mined open-source projects. This review investigates the latest advancements in intelligent Network-on-Chip (NoC) architectures, focusing on innovations from 2022 to 2024. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) into NoC designs has driven significant improvements in performance, scalability, energy efficiency, and security. Key contributions include AI/ML-driven techniques to optimize routing, reduce latency, manage power consumption, and enhancing security against emerging threats. Despite these advancements, challenges such as computational overhead and integration complexities remain. This review consolidates these findings, addresses existing challenges, and proposes future research directions to further leverage AI and ML for developing robust and adaptable NoC architectures. © 2024 IEEE.
