Triplet encoded sequence based membrane protein classification using BiLSTM

Membrane proteins provide a significant part in cellular activities. The role of membrane proteins is inevitable in drug interactions and in all living organisms. Membrane protein classification is used to identify the relationships between proteins. With the help of amino acid composition, proteins get classified. A novel protein classification scheme is proposed using Tri-code Embedding vector. This proposed method forms triplet subgroups which are assigned with unique code words. Then a triplet subgroup is formed from the amino acid subgroup which is provided as input to the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) and SoftMax layer for classification. Two data sets are utilized and classified, with 7582 membrane proteins and 4684 membrane proteins. The results are investigated applying the self-consistency test, the Mathew’s correlation coefficient and the independent data set. Moreover, the proposed method shows its improvement in protein classification process in terms of accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, precision, recall and fmeasure. Thus, the proposed scheme provides an effective protein classification scheme that incorporates the optimistic features of deep learning. The results depict that overall accuracy obtained for data set1 is 99.48% and for data set2 is 99.87%. The proposed method achieves the highest overall classification accuracy with minimum execution time when compared to the other methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Seizure Prediction on EEG Signals using Feature Augmentation based Multi Model Ensemble

Background: Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that leads to seizures. This occurs due to excessive electrical discharge by the brain cells. An effective seizure prediction model can aid in improving the lifestyle of epilepsy patients. After analyzing various patents related to seizure prediction, it is observed that monitoring electroencephalography (EEG) signals of epileptic patients is an important task for the early diagnosis of seizures. Objective: The main objective of this paper is to assist epileptic patients to enhance their way of living by predicting the seizure in advance. Methods: This paper builds a feature augmentation-based multi-model ensemble-based architecture for seizure prediction. The proposed technique is divided into 2 broad categories;feature augmentation and ensemble modeling. The feature augmentation process builds temporal features while the multi-model ensemble has been designed to handle the high complexity levels of the EEG data. The first phase of the multi-model ensemble has been designed with heterogeneous classifier models. The second phase is based on the prediction results obtained from the first phase. Experiments were performed using the seizure prediction dataset from the University Hospital of Bonn. Results: Comparison indicates 98.7% accuracy, with improvement of 5% from the existing model. High prediction levels indicate that the model is highly capable of providing accurate seizure predictions, hence ensuring its applicability in real time. Conclusion: The result of this paper has been compared with existing methods of predicting seizures and it indicated that the proposed model has better enhancement in the accuracy levels. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) applications are added day by day owing to numerous global uses (by the military, for monitoring the atmosphere, in disaster relief, and so on). Here, trust management is a main challenge. Sensor nodes are important in wireless sensor networks, but they are easily depleted because of their short lifespan from continuous sensing activity and low battery capacity. So efficient energy utilization is a challenging task in a WSN. To minimize energy loss, clustering with an optimum path selection process is needed to retain energy in sensor nodes. This manuscript proposes multi-objective Pelican Optimization Algorithm (POA) routing to maintain energy efficiency and minimize transmission distances in wireless sensor networks. A cluster head (CH) is selected by using a Separable Convolution Neural Network (SCNN). Simulation outcomes prove the proposed technique attains 22.3% and 25.04% improvements in energy consumption when compared to the Multi-Objective CH Energy-aware Optimized Routing Approach at WSN (MOCH-EORA-WSN) and Multiple Optimum Cluster Head Multi-Objective Grasshopper Optimization with Harmony-search at WSN (MOCH-MOGOH-WSN), respectively. © 2024 Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea. Face Recognition Using LBPH and CNN

Objective: The purpose of this paper was to use Machine Learning (ML) techniques to extract facial features from images. Accurate face detection and recognition has long been a problem in computer vision. According to a recent study, Local Binary Pattern (LBP) is a superior facial descriptor for face recognition. A person's face may make their identity, feelings, and ideas more obvious. In the modern world, everyone wants to feel secure from unauthorized authentication. Face detection and recognition help increase security;however, the most difficult challenge is to accurately recognise faces without creating any false identities. Methods: The proposed method uses a Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) and Convolution Neural Network (CNN) to preprocess face images with equalized histograms. Results: LBPH in the proposed technique is used to extract and join the histogram values into a single vector. The technique has been found to result in a reduction in training loss and an increase in validation accuracy of over 96.5%. Prior algorithms have been reported with lower accuracy when compared to LBPH using CNN. Conclusion: This study demonstrates how studying characteristics produces more precise results, as the number of epochs increases. By comparing facial similarities, the vector has generated the best result. © 2024 Bentham science Publishe.

A State-Migration Particle Swarm Optimizer for Adaptive Latent Factor Analysis of High-Dimensional and Incomplete Data

High-dimensional and incomplete(HDI) matrices are primarily generated in all kinds of big-data-related practical applications. A latent factor analysis(LFA) model is capable of conducting efficient representation learning to an HDI matrix,whose hyper-parameter adaptation can be implemented through a particle swarm optimizer(PSO) to meet scalable ***, conventional PSO is limited by its premature issues,which leads to the accuracy loss of a resultant LFA model. To address this thorny issue, this study merges the information of each particle's state migration into its evolution process following the principle of a generalized momentum method for improving its search ability, thereby building a state-migration particle swarm optimizer(SPSO), whose theoretical convergence is rigorously proved in this study. It is then incorporated into an LFA model for implementing efficient hyper-parameter adaptation without accuracy loss. Experiments on six HDI matrices indicate that an SPSO-incorporated LFA model outperforms state-of-the-art LFA models in terms of prediction accuracy for missing data of an HDI matrix with competitive computational ***, SPSO's use ensures efficient and reliable hyper-parameter adaptation in an LFA model, thus ensuring practicality and accurate representation learning for HDI matrices.

Morlet wavelet transformation based deep similarity structured neural learning for image quality assessment

Quality assessment is a key problem to be resolved in image processing. Few research works have been designed to analyze the quality of images using different techniques. However, the accuracy involved during the process of image quality assessment was not sufficient. A novel method Morlet Wavelet Transformation Based Deep Similarity Structured Neural Learning (MWT-DSSNL) is proposed to enhance the performance of image quality assessment with minimal peak signal-to-noise ratio. The MWT-DSSNL Method is based on artificial neural networks with representation learning. The MWT-DSSNL Method initially gets the number of images from a given dataset as input. The MWT-DSSNL Method uses multiple layers to extract higher-level features from the input images. The MWT-DSSNL Method is a Feed-Forward network where each layer employs the output from the previous layer as input. The MWT-DSSNL Method is designed based on a biological neural network of the human brain. Contrary to the existing method, the MWT-DSSNL Method uses multiple hidden layers and Morlet wavelet transformation to deeply analyze input images and thereby extract features such as luminance, contrast, and structure with a minimal amount of time consumption. By considering the discovered features, finally MWT-DSSNL Method determines structural similarity and thereby exactly identifies the quality of input images with a lower time. From that, the MWT-DSSNL Method achieves enhanced image quality assessment performance when compared to existing works. The simulation of the MWT-DSSNL Method is conducted on factors such as PSNR, average processing time, quality detection accuracy, and false positive rate with different numbers of input images. The simulation result depicts that the MWT-DSSNL method increases the accuracy and also minimizes the time of image quality assessment when compared to conventional works. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024
