The transferability of adversarial examples is of central importance to transfer-based black-box adversarial attacks. Previous works for generating transferable adversarial examples focus on attacking given pretrained surrogate models while the connections between surrogate models and adversarial trasferability have been overlooked. In this paper, we propose Lipschitz Regularized Surrogate (LRS) for transfer-based black-box attacks, a novel approach that transforms surrogate models towards favorable adversarial transferability. Using such transformed surrogate models, any existing transfer-based black-box attack can run without any change, yet achieving much better performance. Specifically, we impose Lipschitz regularization on the loss landscape of surrogate models to enable a smoother and more controlled optimization process for generating more transferable adversarial examples. In addition, this paper also sheds light on the connection between the inner properties of surrogate models and adversarial transferability, where three factors are identified: smaller local Lipschitz constant, smoother loss landscape, and stronger adversarial robustness. We evaluate our proposed LRS approach by attacking state-of-the-art standard deep neural networks and defense models. Most real-world optimization problems have multiple objectives and constraints. To address constrained multi-objective optimization problems (CMOPs), researchers have proposed many constrained evolutionary multi-objective optimization (EMO) algorithms. They usually evaluate the proposed constrained EMO algorithms on artificial CMOPs in the literature. As a result, some newly specialized constrained EMO algorithms are designed for those artificial problems. Our previous work demonstrated that an old EMO algorithm NSGA-II with a simple constraint handling mechanism can outperform some newly proposed algorithms on real-world CMOPs. In this paper, we further examine the performance of constrained EMO algorithms on artificial and real-world CMOPs. Early detection of crop diseases is an art to prevent further loss in the yield. It not only prevents further spread but also increases the revenue for the farmers. Leaf is a major part of any plant and its good health is very important for maximum yield. Maize is one of the major food crops in the world and contributes major part in food security. There are various reasons for leaf to get diseases that include pathogens like virus, bacteria, pests and even adverse environmental conditions. The idea of this paper is to take data set of maize leaf images with disease like blight, common rust and gray leaf spot along with healthy leaves, train it on different modified deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and use the trained models to test new leaf images. Deep convolutional neural networks have been modified as per the requirements by introducing new epochs, iterations, activation functions and learning rates. In the proposed work, ten different modified networks have been implemented starting from a simple AlexNet to a more complex network like EfficientNet-b0. In this experiment two different data set have been used, one from a standard data set from Kaggle and another is created manually by capturing images from our neighborhood farm lands at different stage of growth. DNA sequencing is a critical tool in genetics, helping to identify disease-causing mutations, predict disease risks, screen for genetic diseases, and monitor disease progression. By determining the order of nucleotides that make up DNA, DNA sequencing allows for the identification of genetic information in specific DNA fragments, entire genomes, or complex microbiomes. It has transformed disease diagnosis and treatment and has applications in biotechnology, forensic science, and evolutionary biology. Comparing DNA sequences helps researchers identify genetic disorders, cancers, and antibody repertoires, leading to tailored treatments for individual patients. However, the diagnosis of diseases using DNA requires an efficient algorithm due to the large number of nucleotides in DNA sequences. The hash-based approach, an optimal string pattern-matching algorithm, is used to identify relevant patterns in DNA sequences. This approach has shown significant improvement in speed compared to the single pattern matching approach for finding multiple string patterns and a parallelized approach for hash based using GPU is also proposed. © 2025 IEEE.

Opportunistic network (OppNet) is a type of advanced wireless mobile network that has evolved from Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) and belongs to the category of Delay Tolerant Network (DTN). The unique features that make OppNet different from other wireless networks are its intermittent connectivity, unstable topology, no dedicated path to the destination from the source, and high node mobility. This further makes the process of data transmission a challenging task. For this a method called "store-carry-forward" is used in which the battery-operated intermediate nodes store the message, discover a suitable relay node, and forward the message to that node. This further leads to the depletion of the battery power or energy of the node in due course of time. In this context, there is a necessity to develop routing models by taking the current energy status of a node into consideration. In this paper, the authors proposed an energy-efficient version of a popular routing mechanism EBC, termed E-EBC where the selection of the next suitable node depends upon the battery power (referred to as Energy) of that node. This model is then compared with existing benchmark protocols- Epidemic, Prophet, EDR, E-Prophet, E-EDR, and EBC. Simulation results (using ONE Simulator) depict that the proposed model performs much better than that of the benchmark models respectively by around 42.73, 41.46, 58.19, 32.03, 65.99, and 44.77% in terms of average latency. The proposed protocol E-EBC is also compared against messages dropped by varying the TTL, Buffer Size, and number of nodes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Air quality monitoring is gaining increasing importance as awareness about the health impacts of air pollution continues to grow. These monitors typically track air pollutants to give users a clearer picture of their environment. Accurate and real-time monitoring increases our understanding of the surrounding air we breathe and allows us to improve it. The proposed system helps users minimize their exposure to harmful pollutants by providing real-time data on the concentration of various gases. The system triggers alerts directly to the subscribed user's mobile phones in case of any hazardous situations so that the user can take appropriate actions immediately to resolve the issue. Our extensive data collection and evaluation with off-the-shelf machine learning models indicated an overall F1-score of 99.54 (±0.5)% with a simple random forest model in classifying burning, cooking, occupancy in a closed room, using aerosol products, based on the sensor's readings. © 2025 IEEE.

Jaundice, also called congenital hyperbilirubinemia, is a common condition caused by alterations in an infant’s red blood cell metabolism within the initial week of life. There are many symptoms associated with this multifactor disorder, and we have systems available both invasive and non-invasive. A practical and precise method for monitoring neonatal jaundice using the CNN algorithm has been described in this paper. The method’s accuracy and viability are predicated on the different detection systems examined. The methodologies and detection techniques discussed offer practical insights. To find a linear regression function, the SVR algorithm was used to find linear relationships within an elevated feature space. An approaching nonlinear function was used to map the input data to a scope. The color card is an additional method of detection that allows for the rapid identification of disease fatalities based on skin color and eyes. The old invasive methods of diagnosing jaundice have several drawbacks, including the inability to monitor simultaneously, the length of time required, the trauma to the patient, and the thousands of dollars involved. To reduce the discomfort associated with these techniques, a non-intrusive approach has been devised to identify jaundice in the early months of life, utilizing the image processing technologies and CNN algorithm. © 2025 the Author(s).

Worldwide Approximate count of 130 million babies were born per annum. Maintaining newborn babies is a great difficulty, mainly for first-time parents. However, intimations from experienced parents, books, and videos help to a certain extent but not significantly because of difficulty understanding the meaning of Infant cries. Researchers have proposed several techniques using machine learning and artificial intelligence. In this work, we try to leverage deep learning-based techniques such as convolutional neural networks (CNN) to identify the infant crying. Infant crying is further classified into four classes (inclusive of pain, hunger, sleepiness, and wet diaper). The MFCC (Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients) technique is used for feature extraction, as it efficiently captures audio characteristics from crying sounds. In this study, will compare the various existing machine learning models with our proposed model. Among the models evaluated, MFCC combined with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) achieves the highest accuracy of 95.5%, for classifying the infant cry and reasoning. © 2025 IEEE.

A Vulnerability Detection Method for Smart Contracts Based on Dynamic Meta Optimizer

With the increasingly complex blockchain technology environment and emerging security threats, the detection and prevention of vulnerabilities in blockchain smart contracts have become crucial for ensuring the healthy development of blockchain technology and avoiding substantial economic losses. Recently developed vulnerability detection methods for smart contracts suffer from the drawbacks of insufficient feature extraction and inadequate multitask detection. This paper proposes a multifaceted learning model, DLR, based on a dual-loop architecture of meta learning to address these issues by adopting model-agnostic meta-learning techniques. This model employs a syntax analyzer for targeted feature extraction, with graph information used as a supporting tool during the initial stage of feature engineering. Combined with an improved optimizer algorithm in the inner loop, the model can effectively learn and adjust based on the specific requirements of each task. In the outer loop, the model achieves efficient learning rate adjustment for multi-task learning by integrating the adaptive learning rate of the Adam optimizer with a global adjustment using simulated annealing strategy, thereby enhancing performance across diverse tasks. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in detection accuracy over state-of-the-art methods for three types of vulnerabilities, with our method achieving detection accuracies of 94.40%, 93.36%, and 94.33% for reentrancy, timestamp dependence, and integer overflow vulnerabilities, respectively. © 2014 IEEE.

Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) are an emerging paradigm in the automotive industry where vehicles' functionality, performance, and safety can be enhanced and updated through software, even after production. Unlike traditional vehicles, which rely primarily on physical components, SDVs leverage advanced connectivity, real-time data analytics, and cloud integration to adapt to changing regulations, driver preferences, and environmental conditions. This shift enables vehicles to evolve continuously, responding to new technological advances and customer needs. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end framework to demonstrate and realize the full benefits of SDVs. We incorporate the concept of digital twin (of the vehicle) driven software update authorization to download or update an application on the vehicle. In our framework, attestation refers to the verification of each software update's compatibility and functionality with the vehicle's current ECUs before deployment. Any impending/requested update is first verified for its compatibility with the vehicle's architecture (as per the twin) on the cloud. The idea is via the SDVs' digital twin - since each and every ECU is virtualized - the simulation and testing of the actual hardware setup with the new application software can be done without direct impact on the physical vehicle. Once the application is installed across all relevant virtualized ECUs, the framework confirms compatibility, ensuring smooth deployment and functionality in the real-world vehicle. Post this successful attestation, the installation will be done on the real vehicle corresponding to that digital twin. Through this proposed framework, we intend to ensure the safety of the updation, while the new updates contribute to the functionality and performance improvements. © 2025 IEEE.
