With the ever-expanding ubiquity of the Internet, wireless networks have permeated every facet of modern life, escalating concerns surrounding network security for users. Consequently, the demand for a robust Intrusion Detection System (IDS) has surged. The IDS serves as a critical bastion within the security framework, a significance further magnified in wireless networks where intrusions may stem from the deluge of sensor data. This influx of data, however, inevitably taxes the efficiency and computational speed of IDS. To address these limitations, numerous strategies for enhancing IDS performance have been posited by researchers. This paper introduces a novel feature selection method grounded in Support Vector Machine (SVM) and harnessing the innovative modified Aquila Optimizer (mAO) for Intrusion Detection Systems in Wireless Sensor Networks. To evaluate the efficacy of our approach, we employed the KDD'99 dataset for testing and benchmarking against established methods. Multiple performance metrics, including accuracy, detection rate, false alarm rate, feature count, and execution time, were utilized for assessment. Our comparative analysis reveals the superiority of the proposed method, with standout results in terms of feature reduction, detection accuracy, and false alarm mitigation, yielding significant improvements of 11%, 98.76%, and 0.02%, respectively. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2023.

RP-SWSGD: Design of sliding window stochastic gradient descent method with user’s ratings pattern for recommender systems

To offer relevant and useful recommendations, the crucial role of recommender systems in e-commerce industry is to predict the users’ concern for various items by estimating items’ attributes and users’ preferences. The reliability of a recommender system is usually assessed through accuracy and speed of relevant recommendations for a variety of items. The matrix factorization-based stochastic gradient descent (SGD) methods proposed by researchers lack memory needed to capture the ratings history hidden in the previous iterations. Recently, sliding window-based SGD strategies designed for Recommender systems and Hammerstein nonlinear systems gained attention due to the improved performance in terms of convergence speed and estimated accuracy. The memory impact with regard to the historical information enhances the performance of sliding window-based SGD techniques. However, sliding window-based methods are deficient in capturing the ratings history based on the users’ rating patterns. Hence utilizing the same window length for the set of observed ratings rated by users. Therefore, we propose an improved sliding window-based SGD strategy to acquire historical information of the ratings with respect to a user’s rating patterns for efficient matrix factorization of recommender systems. The proposed strategy performs significantly by accomplishing fast convergence speed and accuracy for window sizes greater than 1. The accuracy of the suggested technique is verified for two benchmark datasets such as ML-100 K and Film-Trust. However, the authenticity of the proposed method as compared to the standard counterpart (window size = 1) is confirmed through Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). The average improvements achieved by the proposed strategy in terms of RMSE and MAE over the baseline for ML-100 K dataset are 0.726% and 2.245% respectively. Breast cancer is an occurrence of cancer that attacks breast tissue and is the most common cancer among women worldwide, affecting one in eight women. In this modern world, breast cancer image classification simplifies the process of analyzing, providing objective and accurate results. By leveraging machine learning algorithms and computer vision techniques, we developed breast cancer detection. The dataset is histopathology dataset from BreakHis and UNHAS Hospital. We chose the ConvNeXt-Tiny model then modified the classifier head as the proposed method. Before the dataset is processed by the model, we augment the images by applying random horizontal and vertical flips, adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue using color jitter. The augmentation process simulates real-world variance and enhances the model's ability to generalize to unseen data. Our proposed model gained better performance (accuracy, F1-Score) results compared two other techniques to VGG16 and SVM. According to our experiments, the F1-Score for the ConvNeXt-Tiny model with classifier head modification is higher at 0.9516, than the gain for VGG16 at 0.9292, and the gain for the SVM at 0.83. © 2024 IEEE.

Reversible Data Hiding in Shared Images Based on Syndrome Decoding and Homomorphism

Reversible Data Hiding in Encrypted Images (RDHEI) has drawn increasing concern in multimedia cloud computing scenarios. It embeds secret message into the encrypted carrier while preserving the confidentiality of the image. However, most RDHEI schemes have only one hider and one image carrier which are not efficient for the distributed system with multiple participants. Moreover, if the stego-image is lost, the cover image and the embedded data cannot be restored. To solve above issues, this paper proposes Reversible Data Hiding in Shared Images based on syndrome decoding and homomorphism (RDHSI). In RDHSI, the cover image and secret data are distributed using secret sharing. Multiple data hiders embed shared data into the shared images based on the Syndrome Decoding of Hamming codes and the additive homomorphism of the polynomial. On the receiver side, the lossless cover image and secret data are obtained. The reversibility and privacy preserving of the cover image, the complete extraction of secret data, and the fault-tolerance of the proposed schemes are achieved. The experimental results show that PSNR of the marked image is above 54 dB at the embedding rate of 0.43 bpp. In order to improve the payload of secret data, the Modified RDHSI is further proposed. Generally, the proposed schemes are secure, effective and fault-tolerant. © 2013 IEEE.

An ischemic stroke arises as a result of atherosclerosis. It promotes tissue and cholesterol accumulation in the vascular system. When a large amount of plaque collects in one region, it has the potential to reduce blood supply to crucial organs. Carotid arteries are blood vessels that carry blood to the brain and are found in the neck. A stroke may develop if plaque plugs a carotid artery (carotid artery disease). Atherosclerosis is mostly asymptomatic. As a result, many people are unaware they have atherosclerosis until they have a stroke or suffer the additional repercussions of clogged arteries near other organs, such as a heart attack. The primary goal of this project is to identify cases of ischemic stroke by utilizing blood clot imaging datasets with CNN and CatBoost classifiers. The experimental results show that the CNN achieved 97.5% accuracy, whereas the CatBoost achieved 73.5% accuracy. This study will aid healthcare providers in properly detecting the sources of blood clots in fatal strokes, allowing doctors to deliver the best post-stroke treatment and minimize the risk of a second stroke. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In recent years, cutting-edge language models like GPT, TAIDE, LLaMa, and VLM have exhibited remarkable prowess across diverse natural language tasks. This surge in artificial intelligence and computer vision technologies has revolutionized image analysis, offering a fresh and viable approach. Yet, the management and analysis of construction site images persist as formidable challenges in construction projects. While these images harbor valuable insights, conventional manual analysis methods are plagued by inefficiency and error susceptibility. Our study introduces an innovative multimodal approach named Daily Report for Construction Site GPT (DrCS-GPT), designed to navigate the intricacies of building construction sites. The study was initiated by compiling a diverse dataset encompassing visual images and reports from building construction sites in collaboration with CECI engineering Consultants, Inc., Taiwan. In the data acquisition, the focus shifted towards refining our proposed model through pre-Training and fine-Tuning processes. This model exhibits proficiency in generating high-quality textual content while addressing common issues such as fragmented sentences and word repetition. The methodology entailed dataset assembly, model refinement, and integration with advanced linguistic tools to ensure precision and coherence in scientific communication. Our results underscore the model's exceptional performance on 1600 images, with inference times of just 0.21s per task. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the design, fabrication, and characterization of a novel 3D-printed helical antenna operating within the 9.4–10.8 GHz frequency band. The antenna, employing a lightweight paper substrate and a strip-based helical structure, exhibits robust circular polarization characteristics and wideband operation. Rigorous simulations predict a peak CP gain of 11.7 dBi at 9.8 GHz and a high simulated radiation efficiency of 95%. Experimental measurements validate these predictions, achieving a peak CP gain of 11.6 dBi at 9.8 GHz. This research demonstrates the potential of 3D-printed helical antennas for diverse applications in modern wireless communication systems, including 5G, satellite communication, and radar. Furthermore, this study leverages the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by employing the Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), a sophisticated metaheuristic algorithm, to optimize the antenna’s design. The GWO algorithm is utilized to efficiently search the design space and identify optimal values for key parameters, such as the number of turns, helix pitch, and helix diameter, with the objective of maximizing antenna gain to achieve a target of 15 dBi. This research highlights the potential of AI-driven optimization techniques in advancing the design of high-performance antennas for emerging wireless communication systems. © 2025, Electromagnetics Academy. In human life, skin cancer is a curse. If not appropriately diagnosed, it spreads around all body parts in the earlier stage. The melanoma skin cancer death rate is 75% all over the world. There is an urgent need for a cure to be in place. Swarm and evolutionary computation for healthcare deals with real-world healthcare applications. One of the best ways to do this is to find the genes that need to be turned off such that only cancer cells can die. The current therapies used to cure cancer focus on turning off cancer cells but, at times, affect healthy tissues. Using the power of Artificial Intelligence, one can easily mark out the cancer-affected area and provide treatment accordingly. Segmentation techniques can be used to mark cancer lesions, and advanced deep learning algorithms in computer vision can help classify which class of cancer lesions. Automatic detection of melanoma by using a dermoscopic sample is tricky to find the stage and percentage of lesions affected by using deep convolutional neural networks with the help of machine vision tools. To predict skin lesions, we developed a model with three layers, each having output channels of 16, 32, and 64, respectively. For this research, different samples were collected from the international skin imaging collaboration database (ISIC2019, ISIC2020, ISIC2021). The study computed the most important parameters for classifying and identifying the lesion with accuracy, precision, recall, and specificity values. The proposed DCNN model classifier attained an accuracy of 88.82%, 93.45%, and 95.15% with the respective datasets of ISIC2019, ISIC2020, and ISIC2021, indicating high performance compared with the other state-of-the-art networks. The proposed model is a better framework for automating early detection and classification of melanoma skin cancer to protect many lives and avoid mishaps. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have gained significant attention due to their low cost and efficient deployment. Specifically, UAV-based communications hold promise to supplement the coverage limitations of terrestrial networks and achieve superior connectivity for the Internet of Things (IoT). Moreover, UAVs with visible light communication (VLC) capability do not interfere with existing radio frequency (RF) communication infrastructure, thereby providing flexible, high-throughput on-demand wireless communications. In this paper, considering the limited battery capacity of UAVs, we aim to maximize the energy efficiency (EE) of a multi-UAV downlink VLC system for IoT. To this end, the system model with co-channel interference is first established, followed by the formulation of the joint spatial deployment and resource allocation problem. Besides, the original problem is decomposed into three subproblems, focusing on spatial deployment, subchannel assignment, and power allocation. By employing the block coordinate descent method, the three subproblems are solved alternately. Moreover, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves superior improvements in EE compared to other baselines. In addition, the convergence and computational complexity of the proposed algorithm, as well as the impacts of key parameters on the overall system performance are also investigated. © 2025 IEEE.

Because of recent technological developments, such as Internet of Things (IoT) devices, power consumption has become a major issue. Atomic silicon quantum dot (ASiQD) is one of the most impressive technologies for developing low-power processing circuits, which are critical for efficient transmission and power management in micro IoT devices. On the other hand, multipliers are essential computational circuits used in a wide range of digital circuits. Therefore, the multiplier design with a low occupied area and low energy consumption is the most critical expected goal in designing any micro IoT circuits. This article introduces a low-power atomic silicon-based multiplier circuit for effective power management in the micro IoT. Based on this design, a 4× 4 -bit multiplier array with low power consumption and size is presented. The suggested circuit is also designed and validated using the SiQAD simulation tool. The proposed ASiQD-based circuit significantly reduces energy consumption and area consumed in the micro IoT compared to most recent designs. © 2014 IEEE.
