The Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT) has recently experienced a considerable surge in multimedia-based services. Due to the fast proliferation and transfer of massive data, the IoMT has service quality challenges. This article proposes a novel fog-based multimedia transmission scheme for the IoMT using the Sugano interference system with a quantum genetic optimization algorithm. The fuzzy system devises a mathematically organized strategy for generating fuzzy rules from input and output variables. The quantum genetic algorithm (QGA) is a metaheuristic algorithm that combines genetic algorithms and quantum computing theory. It combines many critical elements of quantum computing, such as quantum superposition and entanglement. This provides a robust representation of population diversity and the capacity to achieve rapid convergence and high accuracy. As a result of the simulations and computational analysis, the proposed fuzzy-based QGA scheme improves the packet delivery ratio and throughput by reducing end-to-end latency and delay when compared to traditional algorithms like genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization, heterogeneous earliest finish time, and ant colony optimization. Consequently, it provides a more efficient scheme for multimedia transmission in the IoMT. © 1994-2012 IEEE.

The Smart Grid Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) has revolutionized the smart grid network, generating vast amounts of data that can be utilized for diverse objectives, one of which is Household Characteristics Classification (HCC). This can help the utility provider profile their customers and tailor their services to meet customer needs. To accomplish this task, we evaluated multiple Machine learning HCC models, with a focus on CNN-based models due to their wide popularity in the field of smart grid signal classification. We evaluated 1D and 2D variants of four different CNN architectures. Our experimental analysis revealed that ResNet-based models achieved the best performance on the task of HCC. Also, we found that 2D models tends to perform better than 1D variants. © 2023 IEEE.

Clustering and routing protocols for Internet of Things (IoT) need to consider energy usage and how to reduce it. Unbalanced power usage is a common concern with current solutions to cluster-based routing problems in the IoT ecosystem. This research developed a swarm intelligence-based clustering technique to achieve a more uniform dispersion of cluster heads. The data packets across cluster heads and the sink are routed via a Jaya algorithm. Based on average remaining energy, number of active nodes, number of nodes that have failed or have been removed from the network, and overall network throughput, this combined clustering and routing method's quality has been assessed. The integrative clustering and routing protocol based on the flower pollination algorithm and Jaya algorithm described here exhibit considerable improvements over the current state-of-the-art. The network throughput and the number of the alive node are essential statistics for evaluating IoT in which battery-powered devices periodically acquire surroundings data and transmit gathered samples to a base station. The proposed strategy improved network throughput and the number of dead nodes by at least 14% and 18%, respectively. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Increasingly popular decentralized applications (dApps) with complex application logic incur significant overhead for executing smart contract transactions, which greatly limits public block chain performance. Pre-executing transactions off the critical path can mitigate substantial I/O and computation costs during execution. However, pre-execution does not yield any state transitions, rendering the system state inconsistent with actual execution. This inconsistency can lead to deviations in pre-execution paths when processing smart contracts with multiple state-related branches, thus diminishing pre-execution effectiveness. In this paper, we develop Seer, a novel public block chain execution engine that incorporates fine-grained branch prediction to fully exploit pre-execution effectiveness. Seerpredicts state-related branches using a two-level prediction approach, reducing inconsistent execution paths more efficiently than executing all possible branches. To enable effective reuse of pre execution results, Seer employs checkpoint-based fast-path execution, enhancing transaction execution for both successful and unsuccessful predictions. Evaluations with realistic block chain workloads demonstrate that Seer delivers an average of 27.7× transaction-level speedup and an overall 20.6× speedup in the execution phase over vanilla Ethereum, outperforming existing block chain execution acceleration solutions. © 2025, VLDB Endowment, All rights reserved.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) offers low-latency and high-bandwidth support for Internet-of-Vehicles (IoV) applications. However, due to high vehicle mobility and finite communication coverage of base stations, it is hard to maintain uninterrupted and high-quality services without proper service migration among MEC servers. Existing solutions commonly rely on prior knowledge and rarely consider efficient resource allocation during the service migration process, making it hard to reach optimal performance in dynamic IoV environments. To address these important challenges, we propose SR-CL, a novel mobility-aware seamless Service migration and Resource allocation framework via Convex-optimization-enabled deep reinforcement Learning in multi-edge IoV systems. First, we decouple the Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) problem of service migration and resource allocation into two sub-problems. Next, we design a new actor-critic-based asynchronous-update deep reinforcement learning method to handle service migration, where the delayed-update actor makes migration decisions and the one-step-update critic evaluates the decisions to guide the policy update. Notably, we theoretically derive the optimal resource allocation with convex optimization for each MEC server, thereby further improving system performance. Using the real-world datasets of vehicle trajectories and testbed, extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed SR-CL. Compared to benchmark methods, the SR-CL achieves superior convergence and delay performance under various scenarios. © 2025 IEEE.

Recently, significant progress has been made in developing computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems for identifying glaucoma abnormalities using fundus images. Despite their drawbacks, methods for extracting features such as wavelets and their variations, along with classifier like support vector machines (SVM), are frequently employed in such systems. This paper introduces a practical and enhanced system for detecting glaucoma in fundus images. The proposed model adresses the chanallages encountered by other existing models in recent litrature. Initially, we have employed contrast limited adaputive histogram equalization (CLAHE) to enhanced the visualization of input fundus inmages. Then, the discrete ripplet-II transform (DR2T) employing a degree of 2 for feature extraction. Afterwards, we have utilized a golden jackal optimization algorithm (GJO) employed to select the optimal features to reduce the dimension of the extracted feature vector. For classification purposes, we have employed a least square support vector machine (LS-SVM) equipped with three kernels: linear, polynomial, and radial basis function (RBF). This setup has been utilized to classify fundus images as either indicative of glaucoma or healthy. The proposed method is validated with the current state-of-the-art models on two standard datasets, namely, G1020 and ORIGA. The results obtained from our experimental result demonstrate that our best suggested approach DR2T+GJO+LS-SVM-RBF obtains better classification accuracy 93.38% and 97.31% for G1020 and ORIGA dataset with less number of features. In this work, we propose a ChatGPT-based framework that collaborates with human expert instructions for safe and efficient vehicle platoon control. The collaborative framework integrates multi-objective decision-making to address challenges such as robust collision avoidance in complex traffic environments. To incorporate human-like reasoning, ChatGPT is firstly used to interpret human expert driving instructions, which often involve linguistic variables. It generates behavioral decisions and computes feasible trajectories for each vehicle to ensure driving safety. A distributed model predictive controller is then utilized for accurate, real-time path tracking. To efficiently handle ChatGPT response failures, a receding instruction utilization strategy is proposed. For critical response failures, hindsight experience replay is used to supplement ChatGPT's knowledge database and improve response accuracy in complex scenarios. Simulation tests and experimental validations demonstrate the framework's effectiveness and generalizability across various traffic conditions, highlighting its potential for broader applications in platoon control. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

The dynamic nature of modern wireless networks, combined with the need for efficient management, has heightened interest in Software-Defined Networking (SDN). This paper presents a simulation framework designed to effectively model SDN in wireless network environments. The framework addresses key challenges in managing heterogeneous networks, offering a versatile platform for the development and evaluation of SDN applications. A key feature of the framework is the integration of a Digital Twin (DT) module within the SDN controller, leveraging the controller's comprehensive view of the network. This integration allows for real-time construction and updating of a virtual representation of the network, enhancing the controller's decision-making capabilities. By predicting future network states through a neural network model, the DT facilitates proactive management strategies, such as routing adjustments and resource reallocation, which are essential for maintaining optimal network performance. The paper details the architectural design and implementation of the framework, including the integration of Mininet, OMNeT++, and the Ryu controller. Our results demonstrate the framework's effectiveness in simulating complex SDN scenarios and providing detailed analyses of network behavior. © 2025 IEEE.
