The integration of IoT devices in smart cities enhances urban infrastructure, services, and governance but also introduces significant cybersecurity challenges. Traditional centralized Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) face several issues, including data privacy concerns and high-power consumption due to centralized data processing. These challenges increase the risks of unauthorized access, data breaches, and privacy violations, undermining user trust and compliance with privacy regulations. Additionally, the centralization of data and processing leads to higher power consumption, making these systems less sustainable for widespread deployment in smart cities. This research addresses these issues by proposing a Federated Learning (FL)based intrusion detection framework for smart cities. FL enables collaborative and privacy-preserving model training across distributed IoT devices, mitigating the need to share sensitive data centrally. By aggregating local model updates, FL ensures data privacy and distributes the computational workload, significantly reducing power consumption compared to traditional centralized systems. The proposed model leverages advanced AI techniques and is trained using the IoTID20 dataset. The Flower framework, utilizing the FedAvg algorithm, facilitates the federated learning process. Our experimental results demonstrate that the global model achieves 98% accuracy, with individual clients achieving accuracies of around 85% to 98%. This approach provides continuous learning mechanisms, anomaly detection, and ensemble learning capabilities, enhancing the resilience of federated intrusion detection systems against emerging threats and adversarial attacks. This research systematically investigates the application of federated learning for intrusion detection in smart city networks, addressing key challenges and advancing the state-of-the-art in decentralized cybersecurity solutions. Deep Learning-Based Image Retrieval With Unsupervised Double Bit Hashing

Unsupervised image hashing is a widely used technique for large-scale image retrieval. This technique maps an image to a finite length of binary codes without extensive human-annotated data for compact storage and effective semantic retrieval. This study proposes a novel deep unsupervised double-bit hashing method for image retrieval. This approach is based on the double-bit hashing method, which has been shown to better preserve the neighboring structure of binary codes than single-bit hashing. Traditional double-bit hashing methods require the entire dataset to be processed simultaneously to determine optimal thresholding values of binary feature encoding. In contrast, the proposed method trains the hashing layer in a minibatch manner, allowing for adaptive threshold learning through a gradient-based optimization strategy. Additionally, unlike most former methods, which only train the hashing networks on top of fixed pre-trained neural networks backbone. The proposed learning framework trains both hashing and backbone networks alternately asynchronously. This strategy enables the model to maximize the learning capability of the hashing and backbone networks. Furthermore, adopting the lightweight vision Transformer (ViT) in the proposed method allows the model to capture both local and global relationships between multiple image views exemplar, which lead to better generalization, thus maximizing the retrieval performance of the model. Extensive experiments on CIFAR10, NUS-WIDE, and FLICKR25K datasets validate that the proposed method has superior retrieval quality and computational efficiency than state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Large Language Models(LLMs) have become widely recognized in recent years for their exceptional performance in language generation capabilities. As a result, an unprecedented rise is seen in its use cases in various domains specifically involving Natural Language Processing(NLP). These models however perform suboptimally when exploited in the field of studies where authenticity of the generated content is a critical aspect. One such domain is usage of LLM for exploration of the life of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W(commonly referred to as Seerah). It is of utmost significance to ensure the authenticity and reliability in the sources used and reported by the LLM due to the sensitive nature of the domain. The contemporary LLMs, however, lack the explainability in their response due to their inherent black-box nature. In our study, we have presented a novel LLM named SeerahGPT that addresses this challenge with the help of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). This technique enables the model to utilize both parametric and nonparametric memories for generating response of queries. Our model, built on the Llama-2-7b architecture, employs Sentence Transformer embedding to effectively retrieve relevant information. The model's capabilities are augmented by integrating it with a corpus having Islamic texts such as the Quranic translation and Hadith collections, and historical accounts. The model's performance is benchmarked against its base model using both quantitative and qualitative metrics. The comparative analysis with Llama-2-7b revealed that SeerahGPT incorporation with external knowledge sources, provided more authentic and verifiable responses, despite the others exhibiting greater fluency. Performance metrics such as BLEU, ROUGE, and METEOR indicated SeerahGPT's better accuracy and contextual handling. Today, Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) technology faces critical challenges, such as power consumption and current leakage at the nanoscale. Therefore, Atomic Silicon Dangling Bond (ASDB) technology has been proposed as one of the best candidates to replace CMOS technology;due to its high-speed switching and low power consumption. Among the most important issues in ASDB nanotechnology, output stability and robustness against possible faults may be focused. This paper first introduces a novel P-shaped pattern in ASDB, for designing stable and robust primitive logic gates, including AND, NAND, OR, NOR and XOR. Then, two combinational circuits, half-subtractor and full-subtractor, are proposed by the proposed ASDB gates. The simulation results show high output stability as well as adequate robustness, against various defects obtained by the proposed designs;on average, they have improvements of more than 56% and 62%, against DB omission defects and extra cell deposition defects;respectively. Also, the results of the investigations show that the proposed circuits have been improved by 65%, 21% and 2%, in terms of occupied area, energy and occurrence, respectively;compared to the previous works. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Image copy-move forgery detection (CMFD) has become a challenging problem due to increasingly powerful editing software that makes forged images increasingly realistic. Existing algorithms that directly connect multiple scales of features in the encoder part may not effectively aggregate contextual information, resulting in poor performance. In this paper, an end-to-end context multiscale cross-fusion network (CMCF-Net) is proposed to detect image copy-move forgery. The proposed network consists of a multiscale feature extraction fusion (MSF) module and a multi-information fusion decoding (MFD) module. Multiscale information is efficiently extracted and fused in the MSF module utilizing stacked-scale feature fusion, which improves the network's forgery localization ability on objects of different scales. The MFD module employs contextual information combination and weighted fusion of multiscale information to guide the network in obtaining relevant clues from correlated information at multiple different scales. Experimental results and analysis have demonstrated that the proposed CMCF-Net achieves the best localization results with higher robustness. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

Maritime transportation,a cornerstone of global trade,faces increasing safety challenges due to growing sea traffic *** study proposes a novel approach to vessel trajectory prediction utilizing Automatic Identification System(AIS)data and advanced deep learning models,including Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM),Gated Recurrent Unit(GRU),Bidirectional LSTM(DBLSTM),Simple Recurrent Neural Network(SimpleRNN),and Kalman *** research implemented rigorous AIS data preprocessing,encompassing record deduplication,noise elimination,stationary simplification,and removal of insignificant *** were trained using key navigational parameters:latitude,longitude,speed,and *** aware processing through trajectory segmentation and topological data analysis(TDA)was employed to capture dynamic *** using a three-month AIS dataset demonstrated significant improvements in prediction *** GRU model exhibited superior performance,achieving training losses of 0.0020(Mean Squared Error,MSE)and 0.0334(Mean Absolute Error,MAE),with validation losses of 0.0708(MSE)and 0.1720(MAE).The LSTM model showed comparable efficacy,with training losses of 0.0011(MSE)and 0.0258(MAE),and validation losses of 0.2290(MSE)and 0.2652(MAE).Both models demonstrated reductions in training and validation losses,measured by MAE,MSE,Average Displacement Error(ADE),and Final Displacement Error(FDE).This research underscores the potential of advanced deep learning models in enhancing maritime safety through more accurate trajectory predictions,contributing significantly to the development of robust,intelligent navigation systems for the maritime industry.

With the unprecedented prevalence of Industrial Internet of Things(IIoT)and 5G technology,various applications supported by industrial communication systems have generated exponentially increased processing tasks,which makes task assignment inefficient due to insufficient *** this paper,an Intelligent and Trustworthy task assignment method based on Trust and Social relations(ITTS)is proposed for scenarios with many tasks and few ***,ITTS first makes initial assignments based on trust and social influences,thereby transforming the complex large-scale industrial task assignment of the platform into the small-scale task assignment for each ***,an intelligent Q-decision mechanism based on workers'social relation is proposed,which adopts the first-exploration-then-utilization principle to allocate *** when a worker cannot cope with the assigned tasks,it initiates dynamic worker recruitment,thus effectively solving the worker shortage problem as well as the cold start *** importantly,we consider trust and security issues,and evaluate the trust and social circles of workers by accumulating task feedback,to provide the platform a reference for worker recruitment,thereby creating a high-quality worker ***,extensive simulations demonstrate ITTS outperforms two benchmark methods by increasing task completion rates by 56.49%-61.53%and profit by 42.34%-47.19%.

An innovative deep learning structure, PulmoNetX, integrates the capabilities of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and vision Transformers (ViTs) to enhance pneumonia detection in chest X-ray imagery. During preprocessing, images are normalized in size, converted to grayscale, and subjected to contrast amplification to emphasize essential features. PulmoNetX employs a hybrid methodology to capture both the local and global characteristics of images, leading to significant advancements in diagnosing different pneumonia types, such as COVID-19-induced, viral, and bacterial pneumonia. Comparative studies reveal that PulmoNetX surpasses leading vision Transformer models in terms of precision, recall, F1-score, and overall accuracy, highlighting its advanced processing abilities and its promise as an effective diagnostic tool in X-ray lung disease detection. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Aims: This paper aims to conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of the relative applications of text mining in cybersecurity. Objectives: The amount of data generated worldwide has been attributed to a change in different activities associated with cyber security, and demands a high automation level. Methods: In the cyber security domain, text mining is an alternative for improving the usefulness of various activities that entail unstructured data. This study searched databases of 516 papers from 2015 to 2021. Out of which, 75 papers are selected for analysis. A detailed evaluation of the selected studies employs sources, techniques, and information extraction on cyber security applications. Results: This study extends gaps for future studies, such as text processing, availability of datasets, innovative methods, and intelligent text mining. Conclusion: This study concludes with interesting findings of employing text mining in cybersecurity applications;the researchers need to exploit all related techniques and algorithms in text mining to detect and protect the organization from Cybersecurity applications. © 2023 Bentham science Publishers.
