Traffic prediction of wireless networks attracted many researchersand practitioners during the past decades. However, wireless traffic frequentlyexhibits strong nonlinearities and complicated patterns, which makes it challengingto be predicted accurately. Many of the existing approaches forpredicting wireless network traffic are unable to produce accurate predictionsbecause they lack the ability to describe the dynamic spatial-temporalcorrelations of wireless network traffic data. In this paper, we proposed anovel meta-heuristic optimization approach based on fitness grey wolf anddipper throated optimization algorithms for boosting the prediction accuracyof traffic volume. The proposed algorithm is employed to optimize the hyperparametersof long short-term memory (LSTM) network as an efficient timeseries modeling approach which is widely used in sequence prediction *** prove the superiority of the proposed algorithm, four other optimizationalgorithms were employed to optimize LSTM, and the results were *** evaluation results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed approachin predicting the traffic of wireless networks accurately. On the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to emphasize the stability of the proposedapproach.

A hybrid convolutional neural network and support vector machine classifier for Amharic character recognition

Optical character recognition is a way of converting scanned images of printed or handwritten documents into machine-encoded text, making it easier to store, browse, retrieve, and process electronic data. In this research, a Printed Amharic Characters Recognition dataset is prepared to train and test a model. Images in the dataset only contain 231 basic Amharic characters that are normalized to 32 × 32 pixels. In this work, a hybrid model of the two super classifiers is developed: the convolutional neural network (CNN) and the support vector machine (SVM). In this novel hybrid CNN-SVM model, CNN works as an automatic feature extractor from the raw images, and then, the extracted feature vectors are given as input to SVM for classification and recognition. A 99.84% accuracy was achieved on the own-prepared dataset and 95.59% accuracy on the benchmark Amharic Optical Character Recognition Database in classifying the testing dataset images. The proposed hybrid CNN-SVM model gave better results than the CNN with a fully connected layer. Moreover, the proposed model outperforms previously existing works attempted by others to recognize printed Amharic characters on the same and different datasets. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Improving Robustness of Time-Aware Shaper in Time-Sensitive Networking

Deterministic delivery of scheduled traffic (ST) is critical in time-sensitive networking (TSN). The time-aware shaper (TAS) defined by IEEE 802.1Qbv is the enabler to ensure deterministic end-to-end delays of ST flows. However, TAS does not consider the emergency sporadic flows that commonly exist in automotive and industrial control applications. Therefore, TAS cannot resist the interference of emergency sporadic traffic on normal scheduled traffic. In this paper, we improve the TAS’s time slot allocation and queue occupancy rule and propose a combined scheduling strategy composed of dynamic local regulation and static global planning. Dynamic local regulation executes the earliest deadline first (EDF) discipline at switching nodes to adjust ST frames’ transmission dynamically. Static global planning calculates the offset of ST flows at the source and guarantees bounded delay and jitter. Furthermore, we formalize the offset optimizing problem with considering the EDF, delay, and jitter constraints. Finally, we implement our prototype on OMNet++ 6.0.1. Simulation results further demonstrate that the combined strategy has bounded latency and jitter in the presence of emergency sporadic flows. Besides, the comparison experiments show that our design is superior to eTAS in terms of the jitter and end-to-end delay. © 2014 IEEE.

Machine learning(ML)is increasingly applied for medical image processing with appropriate learning *** applications include analyzing images of various organs,such as the brain,lung,eye,etc.,to identify specific flaws/diseases for *** primary concern of ML applications is the precise selection of flexible image features for pattern detection and region *** of the extracted image features are irrelevant and lead to an increase in computation ***,this article uses an analytical learning paradigm to design a Congruent Feature Selection Method to select the most relevant image *** process trains the learning paradigm using similarity and correlation-based features over different textural intensities and pixel *** similarity between the pixels over the various distribution patterns with high indexes is recommended for disease ***,the correlation based on intensity and distribution is analyzed to improve the feature selection ***,the more congruent pixels are sorted in the descending order of the selection,which identifies better regions than the ***,the learning paradigm is trained using intensity and region-based similarity to maximize the chances of ***,the probability of feature selection,regardless of the textures and medical image patterns,is *** process enhances the performance of ML applications for different medical image *** proposed method improves the accuracy,precision,and training rate by 13.19%,10.69%,and 11.06%,respectively,compared to other models for the selected *** mean error and selection time is also reduced by 12.56%and 13.56%,respectively,compared to the same models and dataset.

High Utility Periodic Frequent Pattern Mining in Multiple Sequences

Periodic patternmining has become a popular research subject in recent years;this approach involves the discoveryof frequently recurring patterns in a transaction sequence. However, previous algorithms for periodic patternmining have ignored the utility (profit, value) of patterns. Additionally, these algorithms only identify periodicpatterns in a single sequence. However, identifying patterns of high utility that are common to a set of sequencesis more valuable. In several fields, identifying high-utility periodic frequent patterns in multiple sequences isimportant. In this study, an efficient algorithm called MHUPFPS was proposed to identify such patterns. To addressexisting problems, three new measures are defined: the utility, high support, and high-utility period sequenceratios. Further, a new upper bound, upSeqRa, and two new pruning properties were proposed. MHUPFPS usesa newly defined HUPFPS-list structure to significantly accelerate the reduction of the search space and improvethe overall performance of the algorithm. Furthermore, the proposed algorithmis evaluated using several *** experimental results indicate that the algorithm is accurate and effective in filtering several non-high-utilityperiodic frequent patterns.

Predicting Student Behavior Using a Neutrosophic Deep Learning Model

We developed an information system using an object-oriented programming language and a distributed database (DDB) consisting of multiple interconnected databases across a computer network, managed by a distributed database management system (DDBMS) for easy access. An intelligent system was designed to assess the difficulty level of preliminary exams and select top-performing advanced students using a Neutrosophic Deep Learning Model. The dataset was randomly split into training (80%) and testing (20%) sets, and the model, trained with the Adam optimizer at a 0.001 learning rate over 50 epochs, incorporated early stopping based on validation loss. This system, implemented at a traditional Egyptian university, achieved a 95% accuracy in predicting student dropout. Student behavior, influenced by personal, environmental, and academic factors, is often evaluated subjectively, leading to inconsistent results. Traditional machine learning approaches struggle with the inherent uncertainty in behavioral data. To address this, we combined neutrosophic theory—a mathematical framework that accounts for truth, falsity, and indeterminacy—with deep learning, which excels at learning complex data relationships, to predict student outcomes such as dropout rates. Evaluating the model on student data, including attendance and grades, showed superior accuracy, achieving a determination coefficient of 0.95, demonstrating the approach's potential for identifying at-risk students and enabling targeted interventions. © 2025, University of New Mexico. Visual secret sharing (VSS) scheme is the technology that divides a secret into shares. The decoding operation on the share is performed to restore the secret image. The quick response (QR) code is an image carrying the information. The standard of it is public. When it was obtained, anyone can decode the QR code. The VSS scheme and QR code are combined to improve the security of daily life. They can enhance the security of mobile payments, authentication, privacy data, cheater prevention, and so on. This study mainly aims to summarize previous research achievements.
