With the rapid advancement of technology, the electronics industry has flourished in recent decades. Electronic products such as computers, mobile phones, and smart televisions are ubiquitous in our daily lives. In the design, manufacturing, and maintenance processes of electronic products, a large number of electronic components are required. The relevant information of these components is usually recorded in the tables of electronic component specifications. In this paper, we design methods to recognize and extract contents from tables, which typically contain vital information about electronic components, such as their characteristics and packaging methods. Our approach utilizes text processing techniques to structurally process and analyze the extracted table content, enabling us to obtain the specific information we need. We categorize tables in PDFs into different types and explore relevant information from them using the procedure of each type. The experimental results demonstrate that our method can achieve a high accuracy rate of over 90% in recognizing table contents. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Predictable and Optimized Single-Path Code for Predicated Processors

Single-path code is a code generation technique for real-time systems that reduces execution time variability. However, doing so can incur significant execution-time overhead and does not guarantee constant execution times. In this paper, we address the performance challenges of single-path code and solve the variability issue. We present the repetition dominance relation to identify and optimize code blocks that are always executed a fixed number of times. We show that single-path code’s instructions are uniquely easy to schedule and explore an extension to the Patmos architecture that allows additional instruction types in the second issue slot. Lastly, we present two techniques for ensuring that functions always perform the same number of accesses to memory, resulting in programs with constant execution time. We compare single-path code’s performance to that of analyzed traditional code. Our results show single-path code’s performance is mostly competitive while outright superior in several cases. However, pathological cases of poor performance are still observed. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The primary aim of this article is to investigate, contrast, and formulate a time series model to predict Bangkok's overall population. In this study, we intend to propose a hybrid model that combines the Autoregressive Moving Integrated Average (ARIMA) model and machine learning techniques, utilizing a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP). Our data source comprises monthly data from 2002 to 2022, totaling 252 data points, obtained from the official registration statistics system of the Registration Administration Office, department of Provincial Administration. This dataset has been divided into two subsets: the first subset covers the years from 2002 to 2021, encompassing 240 data points, which will be used for constructing predictive models. The second subset consists of the data for the year 2022, comprising 12 data points, which will serve as a means to compare the accuracy of various forecasting methods. The evaluation criteria employed for this purpose are the minimum mean absolute error (MAE), the mean square error (MSE) and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). Furthermore, we will utilize the Python programming language to facilitate data analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

Millions of people around the world are infected with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) disease. It is not easily detected in the intermediate stage, as it is typically asymptomatic. Moreover, the ideal learning trends for AMD professional advice are identifying those who are at this stage of the condition, instructing them on ways to screen the early diagnosis of the choroidal neovascular level before significant vision loss is incurred, and encouraging them to think about taking nutritional supplements that may lessen the likelihood that the condition will extend from the intermediate to the mature phase. However, conventional identification of this disease can be time-intensive and necessitates knowledgeably competent individuals to carry out the task. Since retinal fundus images have proven beneficial in detecting AMD, automated methods for AMD detection from retina fundus images can be developed by applying a novel application of deep transfer learning (DTL) to leverage on the artificial intelligence advances. In this investigation, deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) specifically trained for automated AMD evaluation were contrasted with deep transfer learning (DTL), a different deep learning (DL) technique that included common characteristics with a diagnostic grader. In order to differentiate between the age-related macular degeneration (AMD) stage and the Normal stage, automated identification was used on a 2-class classification issue. The study proposed using deep learning (DL) models, and compared them to the DTL model. The proposed DTL model with transfer learning approach yielded an accuracy of96.41%, area under receiver operator characteristics curve (AUC) of 0.9633, precision of 94.24%, specificity of 94.82% and false positive rate (FPR) of 0.0518 on the test dataset, which specified a considerable agreement with the gold standard Age-related Eye Disease investigation data set. A literature content analysis strategy was used to synthesize extant literature sources to comprehend and capture the approaches to the design, evaluation and modeling of user experience. From the analysis, two main methods were identified for the UX research. These paradigms are holism and reductionism. The holist approach stresses on sense making and interpretative approaches to user experience, leading to construction and reconstruction of users' quality perceptions about their experiences with technological artifacts. This paradigm is design based. Conversely, the reductionism approach is concerned with the deconstruction of users' experiences. This approach conceives experiences as a model that can be broken down into aspects and dimensions that facilitates understanding of user experience. The debate among researchers on these differing viewpoints conceived and drove this study. The findings of the research show that the two paradigms are insightful, rich and unique and can be independently used in UX research, nevertheless, as both approaches a limited and address the peculiar concerns of the two respective paradigms, this paper advocates and endorses the use of a mixed paradigm especially in longitudinal studies to amalgamate the rich components of both varying approaches, thus implying the interdependent use of the two paradigms in UX research. © 2024 IEEE.

Personalization in business products has always proven to be a powerful marketing approach by which businesses collect data from users, analyze data and use Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to deliver relevant personalized content to the user. ML has shown to be a ground breaking technology that can be used in the everyday decision-making processes of our lives. A personalized food recommender caters to the exact need and taste of the user taking in account factors like the weather, temperature, type of diet and time of the day. This paper illustrates the design of the application that takes inputs from the user, analyzes the data and feeds it to the machine learning algorithm. The algorithm works on the concept of content-based filtering and a collaborative filtering model. An item feature similarity and item-user similarity matrices are created. Based on these values most similar food items are recommended on the application. © 2022 IEEE.
