Swallowing is a pivotal physiological function for human sustenance and hydration. Dysfunctions, termed dysphagia, necessitate prompt and precise diagnosis. Videofluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS) remain the gold standard for swallowing assessment but pose accessibility and radiation exposure concerns. High-resolution cervical auscultation (HRCA) presents a non-invasive alternative with comparable accuracy. Yet, existing studies have only assessed HRCA in tandem with VFSS, without applying it to clinical settings. We propose an AI-enhanced PC software deploying HRCA for real-time bedside swallowing screening. This software proficiently detects abnormalities and precisely measures key kinematic events, including upper esophageal sphincter opening and laryngeal vestibule closure duration. The system was evaluated through two studies, encompassing a VFSS comparative analysis and a usability study. Our findings underscored the software's superior operational efficiency and diagnostic accuracy, positioning our HRCA-based system as a refined and pragmatic alternative for dysphagia assessment. © 2024 IEEE.

A program or piece of computer software is often built using serial computing techniques. In simple terms, a problem's solution is created by breaking it down into smaller instructions, which are then each individually carried out by a computer's Central Processing Unit (CPU). These modular instructions are first queued and then carried out one by one. Due to the fact that only one instruction was being performed at a time, this was a problem that could be plausibly argued to need to be solved in the computing industry. Hence, parallel computing is employed to benefit from serial computing. Using many processing elements simultaneously to solve a problem or carry out an instruction is known as parallel computing. Every operation is run or processed simultaneously, and problems are divided up into discrete instructions and solved that way. The number of Central Processing Units (CPU) in large-scale supercomputers is continually increasing, and parallelism is a key component of all modern supercomputer architectures. A deep learning technique called the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) learns directly from the data. When dense layers are added, it transforms into a sizable polynomial time approximation technique. The Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method will run faster and be greatly improved when it is parallelized. This strategy can be built on top of several convolution neural network -using applications. One such application that uses the convolution neural network technique to find numbers in images is MNIST classification. © 2023 IEEE.

As a result of its remarkable resistance to corrosion, strong wear resistance, high strength, and low weight, aluminum metal matrix composites (AMMC’s) have garnered tremendous widespread recognition for structural and aeronautical applications. Several mechanical properties of aluminum alloy (AA5083) are examined in this experimental study, which focuses on the impact of reinforcing particles (alumina and titanium carbide). The stir casting method was used to manufacture AMMC. Fabrication was carried out using the less difficult ex-situ approach. Reinforcement particle weight percentages ranging from 4 to 12% were used in the MMC preparation process. Machine operations were performed on the ingots following manufacturing in order to prepare test samples. To investigate the mechanical and tribological properties and effects of different reinforcement weight percentages, tests were conducted including tensile, compression, impact, hardness and wear tests. Adding alumina and titanium carbide resulted in a gradual rise of the tensile and compression strengths. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

In response to the shortcomings of Dwarf Mongoose Optimization(DMO)algorithm,such as insufficient exploitation capability and slow convergence speed,this paper proposes a multi-strategy enhanced DMO,referred to as ***,we propose an improved solution search equation that utilizes the Gbest-guided strategy with different parameters to achieve a trade-off between exploration and exploitation(EE).Secondly,the Lévy flight is introduced to increase the diversity of population distribution and avoid the algorithm getting stuck in a local *** addition,in order to address the problem of low convergence efficiency of DMO,this study uses the strong nonlinear convergence factor Sigmaid function as the moving step size parameter of the mongoose during collective activities,and combines the strategy of the salp swarm leader with the mongoose for cooperative optimization,which enhances the search efficiency of agents and accelerating the convergence of the algorithm to the global optimal solution(Gbest).Subsequently,the superiority of GLSDMO is verified on CEC2017 and CEC2019,and the optimization effect of GLSDMO is analyzed in *** results show that GLSDMO is significantly superior to the compared algorithms in solution quality,robustness and global convergence rate on most test ***,the optimization performance of GLSDMO is verified on three classic engineering examples and one truss topology optimization *** simulation results show that GLSDMO achieves optimal costs on these real-world engineering problems.

This review paper investigates the advances of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of email spam detection. The study addresses AI-based techniques used for email spam filtering by classifying threats such as keywords, content-based, sender IDs, and phrases. Email spam remains one of the most pressing issues today, with spammers sending malicious links in junk folders to compromise confidential information. As spam filtering becomes increasingly complex, AI and machine learning techniques like Naïve Bayes, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Random Forest are commonly used to mitigate these threats. This study proposes a novel framework that combines traditional machine learning models with deep neural networks to develop a robust and flexible spam detection system. The framework is designed to enhance the detection capabilities of the classifier by applying a series of key sequential steps, each intended to improve the system's ability to distinguish between legitimate emails and spam. The paper details the methodology, providing a step-by-step explanation of each phase to demonstrate how the framework advances email spam detection. © 2024 IEEE.

The rapid evolution of wireless technology has transformed communication, offering unprecedented accessibility and convenience. Feature selection helps eradicate redundant features which is essential to mitigate the curse of dimensionality when a machine-learning model deals with high-dimensional datasets. Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) is a swarm-based algorithm that simulates the wolves’ hunting behavior. Although very efficient, GWO faces some limitations which may cause premature convergence and/or local optima trapping. Moreover, GWO relies mainly on the three best wolves, limiting its potential for diverse exploration and exploitation. This work proposes an improved version of GWO namely, a modified grey wolf optimizer with multi-solution crossover integration (MGWO-MCI) algorithm. MGWO-MCI algorithm incorporates a multi-solution strategy that evolves new potential solutions in the optimization process. A crossover operation is performed between the new wolves and the existing hierarchy, reforming the position-updating process. MGWO-MCI utilizes this position-updating process using two different approaches. The first approach named MGWO-MCI-I expands the additional wolves’ role to both exploration and exploitation whereas the second approach named MGWO-MCI-II incorporates their role to exploration only. These approaches are evaluated and tested using 18 datasets and an Intrusion detection dataset NSL-KDD for feature selection. Statistically, the results are analyzed through the Wilcoxon test, which shows the superiority of MGWO-MCI-II. MGWO-MCI-II outperforms others with an accuracy of 98.6% on NSL-KDD and achieves 55.5% overall best outcomes on other datasets. Moreover, the MGWO-MCI was evaluated on two constrained optimization problems, the pressure vessel and welded beam design validating its effectiveness and adaptability in solving different optimization problems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.
