The conceptual and mathematical models of the agents' knowledge potential redistribution considering their constituent components are constructed in the paper. A nonlinear model describing the dynamics of agents' knowledge potentials is developed taking into account the feedback effects (agent-student) on the source of knowledge (teacher / lecturer). In particular, the procedure of constructing a multicomponent two-dimensional array of discrete values of the knowledge potential constituent components for generating procedures to enhance (improve) the professional competences of knowledge sources, is generalized and specified. © 2021 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Association-rule mining (ARM) has concerned as an important and critical research issue in the field of data analytics and mining that aims at finding the correlations among the items in binary databases. However, the conventional algorithms considered the frequency of the item(set) in binary databases for ARM, which is not sufficient in real-life situations. Mining of useful information is not an easy task especially if the item(set) consists of the added values. Moreover, the discovered knowledge is not easy to understand if you are not the domain experts. For the past decades, several intelligent systems involved the fuzzy-set theory for many domains and applications due to it is interpretable for human reasoning. Before, the Apriori-based method for discovering fuzzy frequent itemsets (FFIs) based on the type-2 fuzzy-set theory was proposed, which requires the amount of computations with enormous candidates. In this study, we then first present a fast list-based multiple fuzzy frequent itemset mining (named as LFFT2)algorithm under type-2 fuzzy-set theory. It is developed by the type-2 membership functions to retrieve the multiple fuzzy frequent itemsets for presenting more useful and meaningful knowledge for making the efficient strategies or decisions. From the results shown in the experiments, it is clear to see that the developed LFFT2 outperforms the conventional Apriori-based approach regarding the execution time and the number of examined nodes in the search space. © 2020 - IOS Press and the authors. Since Thailand has now completely stepped into an aged society there are more than 20% of the population aged 60 years and over. There was also an increase in those who had problems with their balance. One of the main difficulties for these people is walking on their own. This paper presents an automatic walking aid for people with balance or walking problems. A specially designed automatic walking aid can be adjusted to six levels of height. It has an anti-collision warning system at a distance of up to 40 centimeters and displays GPS coordinates via SMS when falling. The experimental results of the prototype automatic walking aid showed that the walking aid could work as designed and could help people with balance problems walk more comfortably.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change proposes different mitigation strategies to achieve the net emissions reductions that would be required to follow a pathway that limits global warming to 1.5°C with no or limited overshoot. The transition towards a carbon-free society goes through an inevitable increase in the share of renewable generation in the energy mix and a drastic decrease in the total consumption of fossil fuels. Therefore, this thesis studies the integration of renewables in power systems by investigating forecasting and decision-making tools. Indeed, in contrast to conventional power plants, renewable energy is subject to uncertainty. Most of the generation technologies based on renewable sources are non-dispatchable, and their production is stochastic and complex to predict in advance. A high share of renewables is challenging for power systems that have been designed and sized for dispatchable units. In this context, probabilistic forecasts, which aim at modeling the distribution of all possible future realizations, have become a vital tool to equip decision-makers, hopefully leading to better decisions in energy applications. This thesis focuses on two main research questions: (1) How to produce reliable probabilistic renewable generation forecasts, consumption, and electricity prices? (2) How to make decisions with uncertainty using probabilistic forecasts? The thesis perimeter is the energy management of "small" systems such as microgrids at a residential scale on a day-ahead basis. It is divided into two main parts to propose directions to address both research questions (1) a forecasting part;(2) a planning and control part. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

The COVID-19 pandemic has helped amplify the importance of Cyber Hygiene. As the reliance on the Internet and IT services increased during the pandemic. This in turn has introduced a new wave of criminal activities such as cybercrimes. With the emergent of COVID-19 which lead to increase in cyber-attacks incidents, the pattern and sophistication, there is an urgent need to carry out an exploratory study to find out users’ level of cyber-hygiene knowledge and culture based on gender, employment status and academic discipline. Above this, with many organisations providing for dual mode work pattern or remote and in-person as the pandemic subsides, this study remains very relevant and hence the aim to investigate the cyber-hygiene knowledge and compliance of university students and employees of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). In addition, it attempts to verify the relationship between demographics such as gender, employment status and academic discipline on cyber hygiene culture among students and employees. The sample population is made of employees and students of UNN, where the employees are either academic staff or non-academic staff. The sample size consisted of three hundred and sixteen (316) participants, one hundred and eight-seven (187) of whom were females and one hundred and twenty-nine (129) were males. The significant advantage of the quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is to ensure the perfect security of quantum private *** this paper,a novel secure multiparty quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is proposed,which can complete arbitrary quantum computation on the private data of multiple clients without decryption by an almost dishonest ***,each client obtains a secure encryption key through the measurement device independent quantum key distribution protocol and encrypts the private data by using the encryption operator and ***,with the help of the almost dishonest server,the non-maximally entangled states are preshared between the client and the server to correct errors in the homomorphic evaluation of T gates,so as to realize universal quantum circuit evaluation on encrypted ***,from the perspective of the application scenario of secure multi-party computation,this work is based on the probabilistic quantum homomorphic encryption scheme,allowing multiple parties to delegate the server to perform the secure homomorphic *** operation and the permission to access the data performed by the client and the server are clearly pointed ***,a concrete security analysis shows that the proposed multiparty quantum homomorphic encryption scheme can securely resist outside and inside attacks.

An equivalent reformulation and multi-proximity gradient algorithms for a class of nonsmooth fractional programming

In this paper, we consider a class of structured fractional programs, where the numerator part is the sum of a block-separable (possibly nonsmooth nonconvex) function and a locally Lipschitz differentiable (possibly nonconvex) function, while the denominator is a convex (possibly nonsmooth) function. We first present a novel reformulation for the original problem and show the relationship between optimal solutions, critical points and KL exponents of these two problems. Inspired by the reformulation, we propose a flexible framework of multi-proximity gradient algorithms (MPGA), which computes the proximity operator with respect to the Fenchel conjugate associated with the convex denominator of the original problem rather than evaluating its subgradient as in the existing methods. Also, MPGA employs a nonmonotone linear-search scheme in its gradient descent step, since the smooth part in the numerator of the original problem is not globally Lipschitz differentiable. Based on the framework of MPGA, we develop two specific algorithms, namely, cyclic MPGA and randomized MPGA, and establish their subsequential convergence under mild conditions. Moreover, the sequential convergence of cyclic MPGA with the monotone line-search (CMPGA ML) is guaranteed if the extended objective associated with the reformulated problem satisfies the Kurdyka-Lojasiewicz (KL) property and some other mild assumptions. In particular, we prove that the corresponding KL exponents are 12 for several special cases of the fractional programs, and so, CMPGA ML exhibits a linear convergence rate. Finally, some preliminary numerical experiments are performed to demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed algorithms. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A mathematical model with numerical simulations for malaria transmission dynamics with differential susceptibility and partial immunity

Malaria is a deadly vector-borne infectious disease with high prevalence in the world's endemic tropical and subtropical regions. Differences in individuals’ disease susceptibility may lead to their differentiation of susceptibility to infection. We formulate a mathematical model for malaria transmission dynamics that accounts for the host's differential susceptibility, where partial immunity is acquired after infection. As customary, the explicit formula for the basic reproduction number is derived and used to determine the local stability of the model's equilibria. An analysis of a special case with two susceptible classes shows that the model could have two endemic equilibria when the disease threshold parameter is less than unity. Numerical simulations are provided for a differential susceptibility when individuals are re-infected seven times after the initial infection. Graphical representations show that the transient transmission dynamics of the infected components are indistinguishable when there is no inflow into the susceptible classes. When there is an inflow into the various susceptible classes, the graphs of the infected component of the model are fundamentally different, showing that individuals who have been infected multiple times tend to be less infected over time. Knowledge of the inflow rate and the infection reduction rate due to prior infection in each class could be key drivers to mitigate the burden of malaria in a community. © 2023 The Author(s)

Sortition is an age-old democratic paradigm, widely manifested today through the random selection of citizens' assemblies. Recently-deployed algorithms select assemblies maximally fairly, meaning that subject to demographic quotas, they give all potential participants as equal a chance as possible of being chosen. While these fairness gains can bolster the legitimacy of citizens' assemblies and facilitate their uptake, existing algorithms remain limited by their lack of transparency. To overcome this hurdle, in this work we focus on panel selection by uniform lottery, which is easy to realize in an observable way. By this approach, the final assembly is selected by uniformly sampling some pre-selected set of m possible assemblies. We provide theoretical guarantees on the fairness attainable via this type of uniform lottery, as compared to the existing maximally fair but opaque algorithms, for two different fairness objectives. We complement these results with experiments on real-world instances that demonstrate the viability of the uniform lottery approach as a method of selecting assemblies both fairly and transparently.
