The pervasive presence of IoT sensing devices combined with advances in cloud-based services has made historical- and forecast weather data services widely available for use in smart software systems. The contribution of this paper is the design, performance evaluation, and validation of a software implementation of model-based dynamic fire risk prediction for wooden homes using local weather data. A key feature of the implementation is that the software architecture has been designed to support the use of different underlying cloud-based weather data services, and the integration as a service in third-party smart systems embedding fire risk predictions. The performed evaluation shows that the implementation is efficient, as weather data can be retrieved, preprocessed and fire risk predictions computed within seconds using only in the order of Kb's of memory;and accurate considering our sets of data, as the fire risks computed by the implementation have been validated against a set of in-situ measurements. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. Sport action recognition is an interesting area in computer vision. Categorization of sport actions, representing difficult and complex body postures, is regarded as a fine-grained visual classification problem. The Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have attained enhanced performance over conventional feature descriptors in recognizing various sport activities. In general, though decent improvement has been gained using deep learning for sport action recognition, however, recognition of women’s sport activities is not widely explored. Even, no benchmark dataset depicting women’s sport action with sufficient variations is available yet for study. Hence, fine-grained image classification of diverse sport categories involving female/women athletics requires immediate research attention. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an image dataset comprising worldwide popular 50 sport categories of women players only. A simple deep learning model is proposed that extracts the high-level deep features using a backbone CNN. Then, these features are pooled from a collection of regular regions representing local discriminative information. The spatial pyramid pooling is applied for mining semantic information and enhancing feature aggregation for classification. The proposed method has achieved satisfactory performance on the Women Sports dataset using four standard backbone CNNs. Moreover, our method has achieved better accuracy on the Yoga-82 pose recognition dataset with a significant margin, e.g., 11.6% gain using ResNet-50 base CNN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

With growing urbanization there is a need to manage vehicle-to-vehicle communication for intelligent communication in congested traffic. The performance of the widely used routing protocols AODV, DSDV, DSR, LAR, and ZRP is examined in this research in relation to traffic circumstances on a particular highway. Utilizing OSM data, integrated with NS2 and SUMO, realistic traffic scenarios are simulated. ZRP is a hybrid protocol that handles local communication within zones and LAR bridges the gap between the nodes and zones. This increases communication efficiency. Simulation of scenarios gives a clearer idea of how the dissemination is happening and helps in performance analysis. The protocols are assessed using important performance criteria in this study by means of a methodical approach that includes data collecting, simulation, and execution. Comparison of the metrics for the protocols helps in protocol selection for given scenarios, optimization, and standardized evaluation. The specific metrics considered for performance evaluation include Packet Delivery Ratio, Average End-to-End Delay, Average Throughput, Packet Drop Rate, and Normalized Routing Load. © 2024 IEEE.

Detecting brain tumours is complex due to the natural variation in their location, shape, and intensity in images. While having accurate detection and segmentation of brain tumours would be beneficial, current methods still need to solve this problem despite the numerous available approaches. Precise analysis of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is crucial for detecting, segmenting, and classifying brain tumours in medical diagnostics. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a vital component in medical diagnosis, and it requires precise, efficient, careful, efficient, and reliable image analysis techniques. The authors developed a Deep Learning (DL) fusion model to classify brain tumours reliably. Deep Learning models require large amounts of training data to achieve good results, so the researchers utilised data augmentation techniques to increase the dataset size for training models. VGG16, ResNet50, and convolutional deep belief networks networks extracted deep features from MRI images. Softmax was used as the classifier, and the training set was supplemented with intentionally created MRI images of brain tumours in addition to the genuine ones. The features of two DL models were combined in the proposed model to generate a fusion model, which significantly increased classification accuracy. An openly accessible dataset from the internet was used to test the model's performance, and the experimental results showed that the proposed fusion model achieved a classification accuracy of 98.98%. Finally, the results were compared with existing methods, and the proposed model outperformed them significantly.

The rapid proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has led to a surge in cyber threats, demanding the development of robust security frameworks. This paper introduces an advanced threat detection model, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Twin Technologies for enhanced IoT security. The proposed framework integrates a Cyber Twin-a digital replica of physical IoT devices-with real-time data analytics to detect, predict, and respond to sophisticated cyber-attacks. The Cyber Twin continuously monitors IoT networks, identifying abnormal behaviors and enabling the implementation of dynamic security measures through AI-driven intrusion detection systems (IDS). A hybrid deep learning approach combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) is utilized to enhance anomaly detection and threat classification accuracy. The system's ability to simulate various attack scenarios within a digital environment facilitates the development of effective countermeasures while minimizing the impact on actual IoT operations. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in detection accuracy, reduced false positives, and enhanced system resilience. The proposed AI and Cyber Twin-based threat detection model sets a new benchmark in safeguarding IoT infrastructures against emerging cyber threats. © 2024 IEEE.

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women and can be deadly, necessitating early detection to enhance patient outcomes and treatment effectiveness. Recently, Machine Learning (ML) techniques have shown potential in medical diagnostics, especially in breast cancer screening. ML algorithms examine extensive medical databases, including patient records, to identify subtle patterns and anomalies indicative of cancer. These algorithms excel at recognizing intricate patterns that may be missed by human analysis. Thereby, increasing the precision of breast cancer diagnoses. By evaluating and analyzing medical data, ML algorithms can detect minute anomalies, facilitating early identification of potential cancer cases. A significant advantage of ML-based breast cancer detection is its capacity for continuous learning and adaptation. In this study, we utilized 34 classifiers and five feature selection methods on three datasets. The first dataset comprises 286 instances with 10 integer-type features. The second dataset includes 699 instances with 10 integer-type features, and the third dataset consists of 286 instances with 13 integer-type features. For Dataset 1, Filtered Classifier and J-48 yielded the best results, while the Bayesnet classifier performed best on Dataset 2. In Dataset 3, SimpleLogistic and LMT achieved the best outcomes. Regarding feature selection, the study showed that the GainRatioAttributeEval, InfoGainAttributeEval, and CorrelationAttributeEval techniques are the best among the feature selection methods tested in the study. © 2024 IEEE.

Speech emotion recognition(SER)is an important research problem in human-computer interaction *** representation and extraction of features are significant challenges in SER *** the promising results of recent studies,they generally do not leverage progressive fusion techniques for effective feature representation and increasing receptive *** mitigate this problem,this article proposes DeepCNN,which is a fusion of spectral and temporal features of emotional speech by parallelising convolutional neural networks(CNNs)and a convolution layer-based *** parallel CNNs are applied to extract the spectral features(2D-CNN)and temporal features(1D-CNN)representations.A 2D-convolution layer-based transformer module extracts spectro-temporal features and concatenates them with features from parallel *** learnt low-level concatenated features are then applied to a deep framework of convolutional blocks,which retrieves high-level feature representation and subsequently categorises the emotional states using an attention gated recurrent unit and classification *** fusion technique results in a deeper hierarchical feature representation at a lower computational cost while simultaneously expanding the filter depth and reducing the feature *** Berlin Database of Emotional Speech(EMO-BD)and Interactive Emotional Dyadic Motion Capture(IEMOCAP)datasets are used in experiments to recognise distinct speech *** efficient spectral and temporal feature representation,the proposed SER model achieves 94.2%accuracy for different emotions on the EMO-BD and 81.1%accuracy on the IEMOCAP dataset *** proposed SER system,DeepCNN,outperforms the baseline SER systems in terms of emotion recognition accuracy on the EMO-BD and IEMOCAP datasets.

With the increasing use of mobile phones and messaging services, SMS spam has become a significant issue for users. In this paper, we propose a novel approach1 to tackle this problem by using Sine-Cosine Algorithm (SCA) and Complex Multi-Layer Perceptron (C-MLP). Specifically, we apply the SCA method to reduce the dimensionality of the feature space and CMLP to improve the performance of spam detection. Also, in this paper, we investigate the effectiveness of different classification algorithms, including Support Vector Machines, Random Forests, K-nearest neighbors, Naive Bayes, bagging, and voting approaches. Our experimental results show that the proposed approach achieves high accuracy and outperforms existing methods in terms of both accuracy and F-measure. In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) solutions are increasingly integrated into various sectors, we have utilized Artificial Intelligence for enhancing public safety through realtime detection of illegal activities such as robberies and threats at gunpoint using CCTV footage. With the proliferation of deep learning in object detection, the study focuses on deploying the YoloV5 model, trained on a custom dataset compiled from diverse CCTV sources and movies, to identify specific criminal actions. One of the major problems faced in this field is the availability of a large robust labeled dataset on which a deep learning model can be trained. For this purpose, we have created our own dataset by converting various CCTV footage and movies into images, and then labeling them with the correct class. In addition, we also augmented data by using various data augmentation techniques for the chosen images. This dataset, enriched through augmentation techniques and annotated with bounding boxes, allows for the precise detection of threats, achieving an accuracy rate of 85%. Our system stands out by not only spotting these activities but also by instantly alerting security personnel, facilitating a rapid response to potentially dangerous situations. This capability is important for law enforcement agencies worldwide, offering them an advanced tool to act swiftly and prevent crimes, thereby enhancing public security. The essence of our work demonstrates the practical application and significant impact of AI in bolstering security measures, providing a solid foundation for future enhancements in the field. Through this initiative, we aim to foster a safer environment in public spaces, reducing crime rates and increasing the general public’s sense of safety. © 2024 IEEE.
