Background: Despite major advances in artificial intelligence (AI) research for healthcare, the deployment and adoption of AI technologies remain limited in clinical practice. In recent years, concerns have been raised about the clinical, technical, ethical and legal risks associated with healthcare AI. To increase adoption in the real world, it is essential that AI technologies are trusted and accepted by patients, clinicians, health organisations and authorities. This paper describes the FUTURE-AI framework as the first international consensus guideline for trustworthy AI in healthcare. Methods: The FUTURE-AI consortium was founded in 2021 and now comprises 117 interdisciplinary experts from 50 countries representing all continents, including AI scientists, clinical researchers, biomedical ethicists, and social scientists. Over a two-year period, the consortium established guiding principles and best practices for trustworthy and deployable AI through an iterative process comprising an in-depth literature review, a modified Delphi survey, and online consensus meetings. Findings: The FUTURE-AI framework was established based on six guiding principles for trustworthy AI in healthcare, i.e. Fairness, Universality, Traceability, Usability, Robustness and Explainability. Through consensus, a set of 30 best practices were defined, addressing technical, clinical, socio-ethical and legal dimensions of trustworthy AI. The recommendations cover the entire lifecycle of healthcare AI, from design, development and validation to regulation, deployment, and monitoring. Interpretation: FUTURE-AI is a structured, risk-informed framework which provides guidance for constructing healthcare AI tools that will be trusted, deployed and adopted in real-world clinical practice. Researchers are encouraged to take the recommendations into account in proof-of-concept stages to facilitate future translation towards clinical practice of healthcare AI. IT Governance are one of the needs in managing Enterprise Level IT. This study shows part of the decision domain of IT Governance Help, which are IT Investment and Prioritization. The purpose of this study is to determine feasibility of implementation open source ERP system Odoo project management module that replaces current system based on operational, economic, and technical aspects. The method used are Fit/Gap Analysis and Cost Benefit model using economic impact worksheet. The analysis is done by comparing the requirement with features owned by current system and Odoo ERP system. This research resulted that Odoo ERP System is feasible in the 3 aspects, the operational feasibility Odoo reaching 72% Fit, the economic feasibility with ROI of 84%, and technical feasibility indicating the technical requirement can be fulfilled by leasing AWS server. The conclusion is the open source ERP system Odoo project management module is feasible to be applied in terms of 3 aspects that have been studied, those are operational, economic, and technical. © 2019 IEEE.

The palm oil business employs almost 20 million people, generates USD 21 billion in revenue, and plays a vital role in Indonesia’s social economy. The Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to Palm Oil Mills (POM) distribution system is one important aspect of fruit quality. Three steps are involved in getting Oil Palm FFB from the plantation to the POM. The first part of the procedure involves cutting FFB from the tree, the second stage involves gathering the fruit at a fruit collection point (FCP), and the third stage involves transporting the fruit to the palm oil mill (POM). As of now, the cost of the FFB transportation is still considerable, accounting for roughly 15% to 20% of the FFB pricing. The use of the Business Intelligence (BI) idea in the oil palm harvesting system is presented in this study as a foundation for creating web-based applications.

Proton beam therapy is an advanced form of cancer radiotherapy that uses high-energy proton beams to deliver precise and targeted radiation to tumors. This helps to mit-igate unnecessary radiation exposure in healthy tissues. Real-time imaging of prompt gamma rays with Compton cameras has been suggested to improve therapy efficacy. However, the camera's non-zero time resolution leads to incorrect interaction classifications and noisy images that are insufficient for accurately assessing proton delivery in patients. To address the challenges posed by the Compton camera's image quality, machine learning techniques are employed to classify and refine the generated data. These machine-learning techniques include recurrent and feedforward neural networks. A PyTorch model was designed to improve the data captured by the Compton camera. This decision was driven by PyTorch's flexibility, powerful capabilities in handling sequential data, and enhanced G PU usage. This accelerates the model's computations on large-scale radiotherapy data. Through hyperparameter tuning, the validation accuracy of our PyTorch model has been improved from an initial 7 % to over 60 %. Moreover, the PyTorch Distributed Data Parallelism strategy was used to train the RNN models on multiple G PU s, which significantly reduced the training time with a minor impact on model accuracy.

Background: Injection drug use (IDU) is a dangerous health behavior that increases mortality and morbidity. Identifying IDU early and initiating harm reduction interventions can benefit individuals at risk. However, extracting IDU behaviors from patients’ electronic health records (EHR) is difficult because there is no International Classification of Disease (ICD) code and the only place IDU information can be indicated is unstructured free-text clinical notes. Although natural language processing can efficiently extract this information from unstructured data, there are no validated tools. Methods: To address this gap in clinical information, we design and demonstrate a question-answering (QA) framework to extract information on IDU from clinical notes. Our framework involves two main steps: (1) generating a gold-standard QA dataset and (2) developing and testing the QA model. We utilize 2323 clinical notes of 1145 patients sourced from the VA Corporate Data Warehouse to construct the gold-standard dataset for developing and evaluating the QA model. We also demonstrate the QA model’s ability to extract IDU-related information on temporally out-of-distribution data. Results: Here we show that for a strict match between gold-standard and predicted answers, the QA model achieves 51.65% F1 score. For a relaxed match between the gold-standard and predicted answers, the QA model obtains 78.03% F1 score, along with 85.38% Precision and 79.02% Recall scores. Moreover, the QA model demonstrates consistent performance when subjected to temporally out-of-distribution data. Conclusions: Our study introduces a QA framework designed to extract IDU information from clinical notes, aiming to enhance the accurate and efficient detection of people who inject drugs, extract relevant information, and ultimately facilitate informed patient care. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Background: Although evidence indicates that extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is effective in treating calcifying shoulder tendinitis, incomplete resorption and dissatisfactory results are still reported in many cases. Data mining techniques have been applied in health care in the past decade to predict outcomes of disease and treatment. Purpose: To identify the ideal data mining technique for the prediction of ESWT-induced shoulder calcification resorption and the most accurate algorithm for use in the clinical setting. Study Design: Case-control study. Methods: Patients with painful calcified shoulder tendinitis treated by ESWT were enrolled. Seven clinical factors related to shoulder calcification were adopted as the input attributes: sex, age, side affected, symptom duration, pretreatment Constant-Murley score, and calcification size and type. The 5 data mining techniques assessed were multilayer perceptron (neural network), naïve Bayes, sequential minimal optimization, logistic regression, and the J48 decision tree classifier. Results: A total of 248 patients with calcified shoulder tendinitis were enrolled in this study. Shorter symptom duration yielded the highest gain ratio (0.374), followed by smaller calcification size (0.336) and calcification type (0.253). With the J48 decision tree method, the accuracy of 3 input attributes was 89.5% by 10-fold cross-validation, indicating satisfactory accuracy. A treatment algorithm using the J48 decision tree indicated that a symptom duration of ≤10 months was the most positive indicator of calcification resorption, followed by a calcification size of ≤10.82 mm. Conclusion: The J48 decision tree method demonstrated the highest precision and accuracy in the prediction of shoulder calcification resorption by ESWT. A symptom duration of ≤10 months or calcification size of ≤10.82 mm represented the clinical scenarios most likely to show resorption after ESWT. © The Author(s) 2024.

Background: The efficacy of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) for treating shoulder calcific tendinitis can be influenced by various prognostic factors. This study aimed to identify prognostic factors associated with the failure of ESWT for symptom relief and to evaluate the predictive capability of the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithm of artificial intelligence techniques in this context. Methods: This retrospective study enrolled patients with persistent shoulder pain attributed to calcific tendinitis who underwent ESWT after failed conservative treatment between January 1998 and December 2022. Age, sex, duration of symptoms, calcification classification and size, pre-ESWT visual analog scale (VAS), and pre-ESWT Constant-Murley score (CMS) served as potential input attributes. The difference in VAS and CMS were defined as the output attributes. The XGBoost model was used to predict treatment outcomes based on these factors. The dataset was balanced using the synthetic minority oversampling technique, and the model's performance was assessed using 10-fold cross-validation. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient analysis was adopted to explore the relationships between significant continuous input attributes and post-ESWT VAS and CMS scores. Results: A total of 296 patients with calcific tendinitis were enrolled and completed the 1-year follow-up. The findings revealed that a prolonged symptom duration (>10 months), severe pain (pre-ESWT VAS >5), and higher pre-ESWT CMS (>55) were significant prognostic factors for the failure of ESWT for symptom relief. Using these factors as inputs, the XGBoost model demonstrated high accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. By reducing the input attributes to age, calcification size, pre-ESWT CMS, and symptom duration, the model maintained a high prediction rate, suggesting that these factors are sufficient for effective prediction. Cholera is a highly contagious and lethal waterborne disease induced by an infection with Vibrio cholerae (V. cholerae) secreting cholera toxin (CTx). Cholera toxin subunit B (CTxB) from the CTx specifically binds with monosialo-tetra-hexosyl-ganglioside (GM1) found on the exterior cell membrane of an enterocyte. Owing to the pathological process of CTx, a biomimetic electrochemical biosensor (CCB) was developed by applying GM1-expressing Caco-2 cell membrane (CCM) on the electrode surface of the biosensor for CTx detection. Briefly, the electrode surface was functionalized with CCM using the vesicle fusion method. The specific binding between GM1 and CTxB on the electrode surface was verified using confocal laser scanning microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The CTxB detection performances of the CCB, including sensitivity, selectivity, and long-term stability, were determined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Based on the results, the CCB had an excellent limit of detection of ~11.46 nM and a detection range spanning 100 ng/mL - 1 mg/mL. Further, the CCB had high selectivity for the CTxB compared to different interfering molecules, which are abundant constituents of intestinal fluid and fecal matter in the human body. The long-term stability of the CCBs was also verified for 3 weeks using EIS. Overall, the CCB was found to have an excellent potential for application to point-of-care and cost-effective testing for CTxB detection in developing countries. © 2022, The Authors. Meditation is a family of ancient and contemporary contemplative mind-body practices that can modulate psychological processes, awareness, and mental states. Over the last 40 years, clinical science has manualized meditation practices and designed various meditation interventions that have shown therapeutic efficacy for disorders including depression, pain, addiction, and anxiety. Over the past decade, neuroimaging has been used to examine the neuroscientific basis of meditation practices, effects, states, and outcomes for clinical and nonclinical populations. However, the generalizability and replicability of current neuroscientific models of meditation have not yet been established, because they are largely based on small datasets entrenched with heterogeneity along several domains of meditation (e.g., practice types, meditation experience, clinical disorder targeted), experimental design, and neuroimaging methods (e.g., preprocessing, analysis, task-based, resting-state, structural magnetic resonance imaging). These limitations have precluded a nuanced and rigorous neuroscientific phenotyping of meditation practices and their potential benefits. Here, we present ENIGMA (Enhancing Neuro Imaging Genetics through Meta Analysis)–Meditation, the first worldwide collaborative consortium for neuroscientific investigations of meditation practices. ENIGMA-Meditation will enable systematic meta- and mega-analyses of globally distributed neuroimaging datasets of meditation using shared, standardized neuroimaging methods and tools to improve statistical power and generalizability. Through this powerful collaborative framework, existing neuroscientific accounts of meditation practices can be extended to generate novel and rigorous neuroscientific insights that account for multidomain heterogeneity. In recent years, older population aged 60 years and above has been increasing from 900 million in 2015 into 2 billion by 2050. With advancing age, older people experience decreasing social activities, decreased physical activities, issues related to mental health, disturbed sleep and overall poor quality of life. Virtual reality has shown applications in healthcare domain to help mitigate these problems. The aim of our study aim is to investigate the opinions of older population about virtual reality through dimensions of technology acceptance model. We used the data generated in our previously published research to measure the opinions of older population toward VR use. Thirty participants of older age group were involved in this study (twenty-four females and 6 males) from March to May 2018. They were exposed to 12 sessions of VR experiences for 15 minutes each, twice a week for 6 weeks. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin measure of sampling adequacy and Bartlett's Test were conducted to test the reliability of each questions. From Likert scale analysis, positive opinions (more than 70%) were seen towards the use of VR for entertainment, raising mood, attractiveness and fun to use VR. While the highest choice showing negative opinions in the difficulty of learning to use VR (33.3%). Our study indicates the opinion of older population that they showed positive opinions for all of the TAM variables, the index being 72% to 78.44%. The perceived VR as enjoyable to use, but they still needed time to be skillful in using it.
