An efficient security testing for android application based on behavior and activities using RFE-MLP and ensemble classifier

An enormous amount of applications that are available for download permits users to enhance the functionality of the devices with brand-new features, which is a significant factor in the growing popularity of smartphones and tablets. In reality, third-party applications for business and entertainment are abundantly available in official stores, with the majority of them being offered for free. However, vulnerable applications may expose private information (such as emails, global GPS location, financial information, and phone contacts). To overcome these issues, the log files are collected for normalizing and selecting the features related to the behaviour and activities using the Min–Max and Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) based on the MLP. The selected features are learned by using the ensemble learning algorithm, which is a stacking of Bi-directional Long Short Term Memory (Bi-LSTM), Deep Neural Network (DBN) and Radial Basis Functional Network (RBFN) giving the collected learned features from each algorithm to the Meta classifier for predicting the malware. The ensemble learning algorithm then feeds the gathered learned features from each method to the Meta classifier for malware prediction. The suggested strategy protects users' privacy by alerting them when it detects malicious apps and removing them. Accuracy, Precision, Specificity, and Kappa performance measures are assessed and contrasted with the proposed and current models. The proposed model achieved performance metrics values are 99.78%, 99.56%, 99.85% and 98.89%. Thus, the security testing for Android applications based on behaviour and activities using RFE-MLP and Ensemble classifier performs better than the existing model. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Leveraging Concise Concepts With Probabilistic Modeling for Interpretable Visual Recognition

Interpretable visual recognition is essential for decision-making in high-stakes situations. Recent advancements have automated the construction of interpretable models by leveraging Visual Language Models (VLMs) and Large Language Models (LLMs) with Concept Bottleneck Models (CBMs), which process a bottleneck layer associated with human-understandable concepts. However, existing methods suffer from two main problems: a) the collected concepts from LLMs could be redundant with task-irrelevant descriptions, resulting in an inferior concept space with potential mismatch. b) VLMs directly map the global deterministic image embeddings with fine-grained concepts results in an ambiguous process with imprecise mapping results. To address the above two issues, we propose a novel solution for CBMs with Concise Concept and Probabilistic Modeling (CCPM) that can achieve superior classification performance via high-quality concepts and precise mapping strategy. First, we leverage in-context examples as category-related clues to guide LLM concept generation process. To mitigate redundancy in the concept space, we propose a Relation-Aware Selection (RAS) module to obtain a concise concept set that is discriminative and relevant based on image-concept and inter-concept relationships. Second, for precise mapping, we employ a Probabilistic Distribution Adapter (PDA) that estimates the inherent ambiguity of the image embeddings of pre-trained VLMs to capture the complex relationships with concepts. Extensive experiments indicate that our model achieves state-of-the-art results with a 6.18% improvement in classification accuracy on eight mainstream recognition benchmarks as well as reliable explainability through interpretable analysis. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

This study proposes a hybrid optimization-based mobility management strategy employing Kinetic Gas Molecular Optimization (KGMO) and Ant Lion Optimization (ALO). Initially, KGMO calculates particle properties, such as gas molecule position and velocity, based on kinetic energy principles. While KGMO demonstrates expedited convergence in large-dimensional spaces, its limitations prompt the hybridization with ALO. ALO modifies the inertia weight of KGMO to mitigate these issues. The proposed KGMO-ALO approach is implemented and validated in a MATLAB environment, compared against other meta-heuristic techniques like Seagull and Monarch Butterfly Optimizations across various performance metrics including throughput, bit error rate, end-to-end delay, and HO. Existing techniques such as PSO, MBO, and SOA exhibit superior performance primarily in scenarios with high user counts. The underperformance of ALO is attributed to its reliance on the best antlion solution in each optimization round. By leveraging the hybrid KGMO-ALO approach, this study aims to overcome these limitations and advance mobility management strategies in heterogeneous LTE cellular networks. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

IensNet: A novel and efficient approach for iris spoof detection via ensemble of deep models

Iris biometrics allow contactless authentication, which makes it widely deployed human recognition mechanisms since the couple of years. Susceptibility of iris identification systems remains a challenging task due to diversity in spoof or presentation attacks (PAs) that fails to assure consistency while adopting them in real life scenarios. Hence, iris PAs are the growing concerns that gained significant attention in recent past decade. To alleviate these attacks or recognize presentation attack instruments (PAIs), iris presentation attacks detection (IPAD) algorithms are designed to distinguish a real and fabricated iris trait. Aiming at the efficient iris spoof detection mechanism, in this research work we expound a novel ensemble learning-enabled model (IensNet) that learns three pre-trained and fined-tuned deep models (i.e. DenseNet161, ResNet and VGGNet) for better accuracy and generalized performance. The novel IensNet approach offers several merits (i.e. consolidated strengths of multiple models, improved generalization ability, etc.) as compared to a simple transfer learning strategy where the knowledge is drawn from single pre-trained model. Finally, our approach learns a novel fully-connected dual layer classifier via outcome of three fine-tuned models to yield a final classification result as bonafide or spoof iris trait. Our approach is evaluated on Notre Dame LivDet iris 2017 and Notre Dame contact lenses 2015 anti-spoofing datasets. The experimental analysis of IensNet offers outstanding performance with a lower ACER of 0.2% and 1.4% for Iris-LivDet-2017 and Notre Dame contact lenses 2015 dataset respectively. Besides, IensNet exhibit promising results in cross-dataset environment with an ACA of 91.46%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Highly transparent anti-reflection coating enhances the underwater efficiency and stability of perovskite solar modules

Perovskite solar cells have shown great potential in the field of underwater solar cells due to their excellent optoelectronic properties;however,their underwater performance and stability still hinder their practical *** this research,a 1H,1H,2H,2H-heptadecafluorodecyl acrylate(HFDA)anti-reflection coating(ARC)was introduced as a high-transparent material for encapsulating perovskite solar modules(PSMs).Optical characterization results revealed that HFDA can effectively reduce reflection of light below 800 nm,aiding in the absorption of light within this wavelength range by underwater solar ***,a remarkable efficiency of 14.65%was achieved even at a water depth of 50 ***,the concentration of Pb^(2+)for HFDA-encapsulated film is significantly reduced from 186 to 16.5 ppb after being immersed in water for 347 ***,the encapsulated PSMs still remained above 80%of their initial efficiency after continuous underwater illumination for 400 ***,being exposed to air,the encapsulated PSMs maintained 94%of their original efficiency after 1000 h light *** highly transparent ARC shows great potentials in enhancing the stability of perovskite devices,applicable not only to underwater cells but also extendable to land-based photovoltaic devices.

Cyber-attack detection based on a deep chaotic invasive weed kernel optimized machine learning classifier in cloud computing

Nowadays, Cloud Computing has attracted a lot of interest from both individual users and organization. However, cloud computing applications face certain security issues, such as data integrity, user privacy, and service availability. The only better solution to such issues is to identify and prevent cyber threats before they can cause seriously harm the cloud computing system. Several methods have been suggested so far to detect the attack in cloud computing (CC), but no one method attains satisfactory results. To overwhelm these drawbacks, a Cyber Security Attack Detection using Deep Kernel Machine Learning optimized with Chaotic Invasive Weed Optimization algorithm is proposed in this paper for Cloud Computing. Here, the data is amassed from CSE-CIC-IDS2018 and Bot-IoT datasets. Subsequently, a pre-processing step involving redundancy reduction and missing value replacement for uncertainty removal is achieved through the Developed Random Forest with Local Least Squares (DRFLLS) method. By utilizing Entropy-Kurtosis based feature selection approach, the pre-processing data is given to the feature selection to identify the optimal features. The selected features are supplied to the Deep Kernel Machine Learning classifier (DK-ML), which is optimized using the Chaotic Invasive Weed Optimization algorithm (Chaotic-IWOA) for classification. This classification process classifies the data as normal or anomalous categories with anomalies encompassing, like DoS, DDoS, Theft attacks, and normal attacks. The proposed technique is activated in MATLAB. The proposed technique achieves 24.88%, 17.98%, 45.65%, 35.95% better accuracy for CSE-CIC-IDS2018 dataset, and 23.93%, 13.94%, 32.94%, and 29.04% better accuracy for Bot-IoT dataset. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Manhattan-based k-member clustering and enhanced rabbit optimization algorithm for k-anonymization in social network

Online social networks are becoming more and more popular, according to recent trends. The user's primary concern is the secure preservation of their data and privacy. A well-known method for preventing individual identity in publicly accessible datasets is K-anonymization. Existing anonymity techniques' primary drawback is that they're susceptible to similarity and attribute disclosure attacks. Furthermore, a large amount of data has been lost in the given database. To address this limitation, the proposed model integrated an anonymizing algorithm with Manhattan-based k-member clustering and an enhanced rabbit optimization algorithm (MKCAEROA). The Manhattan distance-based k member (MKCA) clustering algorithm is employed in this case to cluster the initial database. The resulting clusters are then further optimized, and the original database is made anonymous, using the enhanced rabbit optimization algorithm (EROA). In the suggested model, EROA is included to satisfy the specified anonymity constraints while concurrently minimizing the clustering error rate and the generated information loss. When compared to existing approaches, the experimental results demonstrate that the suggested method provides the highest clustering accuracy with the least amount of information loss. Improved security with novel M-Log chaos steganography algorithm for huffman compressed english text

This paper addresses the underexplored landscape of chaotic functions in steganography, existing literature when examined under PRISMA-ScR framework it was realized that most of the studies predominantly focuses on utilizing chaotic functions for either concealing or diffusing messages within cover images. This study explored a different direction of using chaotic function as guards for concealed data by proposing the M-Log chaos algorithm which employs logarithmic chaotic function to drive a unique bomb generator equation, strategically placing bomb bits in the image. These bombs act as sentinels, safeguarding the concealed message. Successful retrieval involves diffusing the bombs before extracting data from the rest of the image. Failure to defuse these bombs prior to access results in irreversible damage to concealed information, thwarting unauthorized access. Our proposed method demonstrates notable advancements across quantitative performance metrics, including a 40% increase in payload capacity, a mean PSNR of 45.8981, and a mean SSIM of 0.9931. Future avenues include exploring multi-dimensional chaotic functions and employing nature-based searching algorithms such as genetic algorithms or particle swarm optimization for optimal chaos bomb placement. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

A Hybrid Regularized Multilayer Perceptron for Input Noise Immunity

The immunity of multilayer perceptron (MLP) is less effective toward input noise. In this article, we have focused on the robustness of MLP with respect to input noise where noise can be additive or multiplicative. Here, we have proposed a DropConnect-based regularized MLP to reduce the coadaptation among the neurons of the hidden layer. At first, we have empirically and statistically shown that by reducing coadaptation among the hidden neurons, an MLP can achieve better noise immunity. We have also empirically shown that an MLP with input noise injection and $l_{2}$ regularizer is an effective approach to improve its noise immunity. However, the results indicate that it does not adjust the coadaptation among the hidden neurons. Therefore, for further improvement, we have proposed a hybrid regularized MLP (HRMLP), where DropConnect is combined with the noise injection and $l_{2}$ regularizer. In addition to input noise, we have also verified the robustness of HRMLP with respect to $\mathbf {20\%}$ outliers in the dataset. To justify the effectiveness of the proposed HRMLP, we have compared it with MLP, MLP with noise injection, MLP with $l_{2}$ regularizer, MLP with noise injection and $l_{2}$ regularizer, and MLP with DropConnect along with two state-of-the-art works based on $\mathbf {20}$ standard datasets. The experimental results for both noisy inputs and outliers confirm that the performance of HRMLP is significant compared to other methods. © 2020 IEEE.
