Multiview data fusion technique for missing value imputation in multisensory air pollution dataset

The missing readings in various sensors of air pollution monitoring stations is a common issue. Those missing sensor readings may greatly influence the performance of monitoring and analysis of air pollution data. To address this problem, in this paper, a multi-view based missing value (MV) imputation method called MVDI (Multi-View Data Imputation) is proposed for air pollution related time series data. MVDI combines four models namely LSTM (Long-Short Term Memory), IDS (Inverse Distance Squared), SVR (Support Vector Regressor), and KNN (K-Nearest Neighbors) to estimate MVs. These four models are mainly employed to capture the variations in data from different views of the dataset. Here, different views represent different portions (subsets) of the actual dataset. The estimates of MVs from all the views are combined using a kernel function to get an overall result. The proposed model MVDI is evaluated on real-world air pollution dataset in terms of RMSE, MAE, MAPE, and R2. The experimental results show that MVDI dominates over the baseline methods namely AR (AutoRegressive), ARIMA (AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average), RFR (Random Forest Regressor), ANN (Artificial Neural Network), LI (Linear Interpolation), NN (Nearest Neighbors), MI (Mean Imputation), CNN (Convolutional Neural Network), ConvLSTM (Convolutional LSTM). © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

HandRT: Simultaneous Hand Shape and Appearance Reconstruction with Pose Tracking from Monocular RGB-D Video

We propose a method to reconstruct a personalized hand avatar, representing the user's hand shape and appearance, from a monocular RGB-D video of a hand performing unknown hand poses under unknown illumination. Our method, HandRT, jointly optimizes hand pose, shape, appearance, and lighting parameters using a physically-based shading model in a differentiable rendering framework incorporating Monte Carlo path tracing. HandRT extends our previous work, Intrinsic Hand Avatar, by relaxing the assumption of a known coarse hand pose and utilizing depth data in the optimization. Specifically, we introduce an articulated registration energy based on iterative closest point over the depth point cloud that enables reconstruction from unknown hand poses via tracking across frames. Thus, we can reconstruct the avatar from arbitrary poses with high accuracy without relying on an off-the-shelf 2D joint detector at each frame. Further, HandRT is capable of precisely tracking the reconstructed avatar from either RGB or RGB-D input. Our evaluation demonstrates that our method outperforms existing hand avatar reconstruction methods on all commonly used metrics while producing significantly accurate mesh compared to state-of-the-art hand mesh recovery methods by a large margin on public and our captured datasets. Preemptive Min Max Optimal Cost Based Scheduling for Improving the Load Balancing in Virtualized Cloud Environment

Load balancing and scheduling are essential components of cloud computing that aim to optimize resource allocation and utilization. In a cloud environment, multiple virtual machines and applications compete for shared resources, and efficient load balancing and scheduling mechanisms are crucial for ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization. The prior methodologies attains higher utilization to allocate task due to makspan problem leads more deadlock occurrence and request failures with higher energy consideration. Furthermore, the paper examines the challenges and considerations in load balancing and scheduling, such as dynamic workload variations, heterogeneity of resources, and QoS requirements. To handle this issues, to propose an Efficient Load Balancing Based Predictive Priority-based Preemptive Min max priority Load balancer (PMin-Max LB) to improve the service optimality in Decentralized cloud server. Initially the user request accessibility and task progress is evaluated through Service level Workload Impact score (SLWIS). Then introducing Workload Scaling Job vector estimation is carried by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). By evaluating the Makespan Instance Scaling Changeover Virtualization (MISCV) task weights are assigned to virtual machine by applying Preemptive Min max priority Load balancer (PMin-Max LB) to reduce the workload to improve the performance. The proposed system improves the impact of load balancing and scheduling on cloud performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Proposing a digital twin-based sustainable water governance system for rural Indian villages

A sustainably governed water-ecosystem at village-level is crucial for the community's well-being. It requires understanding natures’ limits to store and yield water and balance it with the stakeholders’ needs, in the context of population growth, climate change, and unsustainable agricultural practices. Maharashtra villages like Randullabad and Karanjkhop are impacted by limited groundwater availability due to the geological structure of the Deccan Traps basaltic rock formation and are recharged by the most rainfall during the monsoon season. Traditional water management practices are inadequate, with old wells causing conflicts among villagers due to fluctuating water levels. In order to achieve a sustainable water system for rural Indian villages, this paper proposes a Digital Twin-Based Water Governance System (DToWGS) with the aim of balancing nature's boundaries with stakeholders' interests to provide real-time water insights, encourage community engagement, transparency in water allocation and decision-making, and promote sustainable practices. These measured indicators can potentially link local governance outcomes to global goals like Viksit Bharat 2047 and UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6). © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

Self-distillation framework for improving fake speech detection in the domain variability scenario

Robust fake speech detection systems are crucial in an era where audio recordings can be easily altered or developed due to advancements in technology. The potential impact of this technology could be devastating due to its susceptibility to misuse. It can lead to political and economic instability, severe financial repercussions, the spread of misinformation, defamation, and security breaches in ASV systems and facilitate theft and fraud. Further, existing detection systems face a key issue;most state-of-the-art systems only provide results on the corpus they are trained on but fail in the domain variability scenario. The goal of this study is to enable a system to generalize across various domains, enhancing its reliability in real-world scenarios and thereby solidifying the authenticity of speech, making speech-based systems more dependable. All three audio spoofing scenarios are considered, logical access-based (LA) attacks including TTS and voice conversion (VC) techniques, spoofing attacks generated in real physical space, namely physical access (PA) attacks (replay, mimicry) and advanced deepfake technologies. The proposed system put forth in this study achieves commendable performance on three diverse test datasets. Notably, EER of 0.286, 0.337 and 0.371 is achieved on the In-The-Wild dataset with the proposed system implemented on ResNet, ECANet and SENet. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Representing a Model for the Anonymization of Big Data Stream Using In-Memory Processing

In light of the escalating privacy risks in the big data era, this paper introduces an innovative model for the anonymization of big data streams, leveraging in-memory processing within the Spark framework. The approach is founded on the principle of K-anonymity and propels the field forward by critically evaluating various anonymization methods and algorithms, benchmarking their performance with respect to time and space complexities. A distinctive formula for optimized cluster determination in the K-means algorithm is presented, along with a novel tuple expiration time strategy for the efficient purging of clusters. The integration of these components into Spark’s RDD and MLlib modules results in a significant decrease in execution time and data loss rates, even with increasing data volumes. The paper’s notable contributions are its methodological advancements that offer a robust, scalable solution for data anonymization, safeguarding user privacy without sacrificing data utility or processing efficiency. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Privacy-preserving intrusion detection with federated learning: enhancing privacy and efficiency in IoT networks

Intrusion detection systems (IDS) are crucial in the identification of unauthorized activities on a digital network, enabling cybersecurity measures to initiate prevention protocols to protect the security of their networks and data. With Internet of Things (IoT) as a ubiquitous phenomenon, IDS has become increasingly important owing to the massive growth of connected devices. Machine learning algorithms can detect anomalies in large datasets, but centralized methods pose security risks by gathering all data in one place. Federated learning (FL) offers a safer alternative, allowing multiple clients to collaborate on a model without sharing data, reducing the risk of data leaks and enhancing privacy. In this paper, we propose a FL-based IDS. Herein, we have applied the FL approach to a number of clients that are grouped in sets where the number of clients in a set varies from 2 to 10. After that, we applied feature ranking via a random forest approach, wherein the features are ranked based on their importance to find the optimal and reduced dataset for reducing the inference time. Further, three models for each of the clients were trained using the refined dataset obtained. Next, the central server aggregates the data from the clients using three methods. We have updated the dataset with two types of scenarios, one with two classes (Benign and Attacks) and the second with a multi-class (Benign, Dodag, Flooding, Rank, Blackhole) for identifying the attack. The experimental results establish that the proposed methodology achieves superior performance as compared to similar existing methodologies. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Secure container Orchestration: A framework for detecting and mitigating Orchestrator - level vulnerabilities

This paper presents Secure Orchestration, a novel framework meticulously planned to uphold rigorous security measures over the profound security concerns that lie within the container orchestration platforms, especially in Kubernetes. The widespread adoption of containerized environments has raised concerns about the vulnerabilities at the level of the orchestrator. Secure Orchestration delivers a comprehensive approach by leveraging cutting-edge methods to detect and prevent the exposure of vulnerabilities from orchestrator misconfigurations, privilege escalation exploits that can thwart the orchestration security layer, and unauthorized access attempts targeting the orchestration system itself. In addition, it is further strengthened by deploying an Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDPS), which is responsible for actively monitoring the orchestration infrastructure. The IDPS utilizes sophisticated algorithms and mechanisms for detecting anomalies to continuously assess the orchestration environment for indications of intrusion, vulnerabilities, and anomalous activities. By using this proactive approach, the framework is able to rapidly identify potential threats and respond through countermeasures in a timely manner, thus greatly reducing the risks associated with orchestrator level vulnerabilities. Conducting a set of real-world experiments that closely simulate a variety of threat scenarios is imperative for empirically validating the efficiency of this framework. The obtained empirical results yield insightful revelations on the efficacy of the framework in accurately identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, thereby ensuring the privacy and integrity of container orchestration systems. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

This study provides an innovative architectural model for e-Health systems that aims to improve cyber resilience while maintaining high availability under fluctuating traffic loads. We examined typical cybersecurity incidents in the field of e-Health, their correlations with architectural defects, and frequent design patterns in currently operational systems. A testing approach based on our research finds those weaknesses and proposes viable fixes. In this paper, a comprehensive support strategy for transitioning from conventional monolithic architectures to microservices is presented. This change makes use of cloud computing's vertical and horizontal scalability to maximize resource utilization while ensuring system reliability. We also discuss deployment ideas for the new microservices, focusing on operational resilience and cybersecurity in e-Health environments. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest.
