Learning effective recommendation models from sparse user interactions represents a fundamental challenge in developing sequential recommendation methods. Recently, pre-training-based methods have been developed to tackle this challenge. Though promising, in this paper, we show that existing methods suffer from the notorious negative transfer issue, where the model adapted from the pre-trained model results in worse performance compared to the model learned from scratch in the task of interest (i.e., target task). To address this issue, we develop a method, denoted as ANT, for transferable sequential recommendation. ANT mitigates negative transfer by 1) incorporating multi-modality item information, including item texts, images and prices, to effectively learn more transferable knowledge from related tasks (i.e., auxiliary tasks);and 2) better capturing task-specific knowledge in the target task using a re-learning-based adaptation strategy. We evaluate ANT against eight state-of-the-art baseline methods on five target tasks. Our experimental results demonstrate that ANT does not suffer from the negative transfer issue on any of the target tasks. The results also demonstrate that ANT substantially outperforms baseline methods in the target tasks with an improvement of as much as 15.2%. Supervised Classification (SML) is the pursuit of systems that reasoning from externally given instances to generate broad hypotheses, which subsequently generate predictions for future instances. One of the jobs performed by intelligent systems most commonly is supervised classification. Based on the data set, number of occurrences and variables in this study, the most efficient classification algorithm is selected. It is comprehensively described and contrasted with various supervised learning methods. Seven distinct machine learning algorithms were taken into consideration utilizing the Waikato Environment for data Analysis (WEDA) machine learning tool. For the identification process, the data set was used with 780 instances, eight independent variables (quality), and one dependent variable (variable). According to the data, SVM was the technique with the highest degree of precision and accuracy. Accordingly, the next accurate classification algorithms after SVM were determined to be Naive Bayes and Random Forest. The study demonstrates that precision (accuracy) and model construction time are two factors, whereas kappa statistics and mean error percentage (MAE) are two other factors. Therefore, controlled predictive machine learning requires precision, accuracy, and minimal error in ML algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

Vector-borne epidemics constitute major threats to global health that call for improved modeling systems for managing diseases. In order to incorporate such factors into an actual model, a traditional forecasting process may fail to grasp the nature of disease transmission adequately. We present a hybrid AI system based on LSTM and GCN for forest bug outbreak detection in real time. The framework also integrated a spatial-temporal analysis of climate variability, vector population fluctuations, and human mobility with climate variables across 15 regions over a five-year period (2019-2023). The hybrid framework also produced superior results, achieving a 94.2% prediction rate for health risk disease outbreaks, compared to a 17.3% improvement in traditional machine learning. When used to distinguish between high-risk and low-risk zones, the model demonstrated the following metrics: sensitivity of 92.8% and specificity of 95.1%. Real-time risk assessment demonstrated 89.6% effectiveness in indicating early warning and the best prediction lead time average of 21 days. This framework significantly enhances the prediction of vector-borne diseases by offering a dependable, real-time platform for disease surveillance and risk assessment. Its high accuracy and early warning capabilities make the system a useful tool in epidemiological and public health campaigns and control measures. © 2024 IEEE.

Select-and-Combine (SAC): A Novel Multi-Stereo Depth Fusion Algorithm for Point Cloud Generation via Efficient Local Markov Netlets

Many practical systems for image-based surface reconstruction employ a stereo/multi-stereo paradigm, due to its ability to scale for large scenes and its ease of implementation for out-of-core operations. In this process, multiple and abundant depth maps from stereo matching must be combined and fused into a single, consistent, and clean point cloud. However, the noises and outliers caused by stereo matching and the heterogenous geometric errors of the poses present a challenge for existing fusion algorithms, since they mostly assume Gaussian errors and predict fused results based on data from local spatial neighborhoods, which may inherit uncertainties from multiple depths resulting in lowered accuracy. In this paper, we propose a novel depth fusion paradigm, that instead of numerically fusing points from multiple depth maps, selects the best depth map per point, and combines them into a single and clean point cloud. This paradigm, called select-and-combine (SAC), is achieved through modeling the point level fusion using local Markov Netlets, a micro-network over point across neighboring views for depth/view selection, followed by a Netlets collapse process for point combination. The Markov Netlets are optimized such that they can inherently leverage spatial consistencies among depth maps of neighboring views, thus they can address errors beyond Gaussian ones. Our experiment results show that our approach outperforms existing depth fusion approaches by increasing the F1 score that considers both accuracy and completeness by 2.07% compared to the best existing method. Finally, our approach generates clearer point clouds that are 18% less redundant while with a higher accuracy before fusion. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

While a variety of ensemble methods for multilabel classification have been proposed in the literature, the question of how to aggregate the predictions of the individual members of the ensemble has received little attention so far. In this paper, we introduce a formal framework of ensemble multilabel classification, in which we distinguish two principal approaches: "predict then combine" (PTC), where the ensemble members first make loss minimizing predictions which are subsequently combined, and "combine then predict" (CTP), which first aggregates information such as marginal label probabilities from the individual ensemble members, and then derives a prediction from this aggregation. While both approaches generalize voting techniques commonly used for multilabel ensembles, they allow to explicitly take the target performance measure into account. Therefore, concrete instantiations of CTP and PTC can be tailored to concrete loss functions. Experimentally, we show that standard voting techniques are indeed outperformed by suitable instantiations of CTP and PTC, and provide some evidence that CTP performs well for decomposable loss functions, whereas PTC is the better choice for non-decomposable losses. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, the classification of colon cancer tissues by means of machine learning approaches is evaluated. In today's world, a revolutionary advancement has come in the classification and diagnosis of diseases in the medical and healthcare sectors. Deep learning classifiers and machine learning methods are now broadly applied to accurately diagnose a number of diseases. Cancer is one of the world's most significant roots of death, appealing to the lives of one person out of every six. As per the national library of medicine, the third leading cause of death worldwide is colorectal cancer. Identifying an illness at a premature stage increases the chances of survival. Automated diagnosis and the classification of tissues from images can be completed much more quickly with the use of artificial intelligence. A publicly available IoT dataset CRC-VAL-HE-7K consisting of 7180 images, distributed among nine types of colorectal tissues: background, lymphocytes, adipose, mucus, colorectal adenocarcinoma epithelium, normal colon mucosa, debris, cancer-associated stroma, and, smooth muscle is used after preprocessing. Feature extraction is done by applying Differential-Box-Count on all blocks of images. The dataset is evaluated by these Machine Learning (ML) procedures: K-Nearest Neighbor, Support Vector Machine, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Extreme Gradient Boosting, and Gaussian Naive Bayes. Results show that the performance of Extreme Gradient Boosting is the best and most viable approach.. © 2023 IEEE.

Skin pathologies encompass a spectrum of conditions, with malignancies such as melanoma representing a critical diagnostic urgency. This investigation delineates the deployment of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for the classification of dermatological anomalies, benchmarking CNN diagnostic fidelity against dermatological expert evaluations. The study underscores the efficacy of CNN classifiers in expediting the diagnostic workflow for various cutaneous disorders. Advocating for an automated diagnostic framework, the research introduces a CNN-based system aimed at reducing human diagnostic load, accelerating diagnostic timelines, and enhancing survival outcomes. Utilizing advanced image processing algorithms and deep learning architectures, the research presents an automated classification system for skin pathologies, addressing both benign and malignant presentations. The classification matrix includes nine dermatological conditions: actinic keratosis, basal cell carcinoma, benign keratosis, dermatofibroma, melanoma, nevus, seborrheic keratosis, squamous cell carcinoma, and vascular lesions. The objective is to engineer a CNN model with robust diagnostic performance across a diverse lesion dataset, ensuring accurate identification and categorization of dermatological conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to ensure the safety and manufacturing efficiency of pharmaceuticals, rigorous quality control measures are necessary. However, existing quality control systems often struggle with industrial process complexity and regulatory requirements. The proposed study highlights the need for a revolutionary strategy to overcome the limitations of existing systems. Quality control systems in existing systems have limitations such as real-time monitoring, insufficient data analysis for pattern identification, and limited predictive capabilities. These limitations have an impact on the industry's ability to recognize and manage quality concerns, posing a danger to medicine manufacturing. For addressing these issues, a novel approach to maintain quality control in the pharmaceutical sector using big data analytics is proposed. Advanced analytics are used for real-time monitoring, data analysis and predictive modeling in the proposed system. The results and analysis through extensive comparisons shows proposed big data analytics system achieves 95% fault detection, 40% downtime reduction, and 35% waste reduction in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The proposed system's ability to handle massive datasets allows it to identify complicated patterns and abnormalities, enabling proactive quality control. The implementation exceeds industry standards, addressing data privacy and security concerns. © 2024 IEEE.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common age-related problem and progresses in different stages, from cognitively normal to early mild cognitive impairment, and severe dementia. This study investigates the predictive potential of resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and its derived functional connectivity (FC) in understanding Alzheimer's progression. Leveraging deep learning and graph-based models, we introduce two key contributions: 1) a comparative analysis of rs-fMRI time points and FC for Alzheimer's prediction. 2) an innovative graph transformer variant incorporating self-clustering for enhanced prediction accuracy. Experiments on the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative dataset with 830 subjects reveal two notable conclusions. Firstly, rs-fMRI time points offer limited utility compared to functional network connectivity for transformer-based models, even when considering temporal information. Secondly, a clustering-based attention module proves effective for classifying brain networks in predicting Alzheimer's disease progression, providing valuable insights for future research and clinical applications. © 2024 IEEE.
