Hyperspectral images of cultured cells incubated with mesoporous silica-based nanoparticles (NPs) functionalized with phenylboronic acid derivative and loaded with doxorubicin and resveratrol were analyzed to establish incorporation percentage. We designed and developed a digital tool, which extended the standard procedure, by combining spectral angle mapper with assisted segmentation and counting operations. It provides the percentage of pixels in which the spectral fingerprint of the NPs is found. The analysis is carried out at the cell level and points out the similarities and differences between cell lines and types of NPs.

Within the realm of data mining and machine learning, feature selection stands out as an essential technique for dimensionality reduction, presenting both popularity and complexity. Feature selection involves a nuanced trade-off that results in information loss. This distinction underscores the necessity for the development of lightweight, efficient, and practical methods capable of minimizing information loss while executing dimensional reduction. In this paper, we introduce a rankability-based feature selection method. The concept of rankability, proposed in 2019 and similar to the entropy concept, remains relatively unexplored. Our proposed method distinguishes itself by its lightweight complexity, eliminating the need for iterative *** evaluate the effectiveness of our approach, we conducted experiments on forty-one datasets and compared the results with four other algorithms using refined data with 10\%, 30\%, and 50\% feature dimension reduction. The findings reveal that our rankability-based feature selection method consistently outperforms the other four methods across a majority of datasets in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-macro performance. Specifically, the classification score exceeds 0.9 on accuracy for 50\% feature dimension reduction in twelve datasets, with nine datasets achieving scores over 0.9 in recall, F1-macro, and precision. Overall, our proposed feature selection method demonstrates promising performance. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper considers utilizing the knowledge of age gains to reduce the average age of information (AoI) in random access with event-driven periodic updating for the first time. Built on the form of slotted ALOHA, we require each device to determine its age gain threshold and transmission probability in an easily implementable decentralized manner, so that the contention can be limited to devices with age gains as high as possible. For the basic case that each device utilizes its knowledge of age gain of only itself, we provide an analytical modeling by a multi-layer discrete-time Markov chains (DTMCs), where an external DTMC manages the jumps between the beginnings of frames and an internal DTMC manages the evolution during an arbitrary frame, for obtaining optimal access parameters offline. For the enhanced case that each device utilizes its knowledge of age gains of all the devices, we require each device to adjust its access parameters for maximizing the estimated network expected AoI reduction per slot, through maintaining a posteriori joint probability distribution of local age and age gain of an arbitrary device in a Bayesian manner. We have yet to realise the full capability of social media as an innovative information platform during emergencies and crisis response and management. Sentiment analysis can systematically identify, extract, and scrutinise emotional states and subjective information in social media data. Exploring reactions and perceptions to response messaging is invaluable and proved especially useful for a pandemic response as it can demonstrate general population reaction to the pandemic and governments response actions. This can be further analysed to identify the gap between government response actions and communications and citizens' perceptions. In this paper, an analysis of Twitter data explores population reaction towards COVID-19 health messaging. A Natural Language Processing Python tool is known as TextBlob was used to discover general data sentiment. Data were divided into three sentiments and text extraction of health messages was conducted to explore subsequent tweets in predefined categories. Our findings show the outcome of Tweets analysis could help us to identify the general population concerns and their reactions to COVID-19 to give a better understanding of the situation to governments and support them in implementing appropriate policies. © 2021 IEEE.

Personal computers and the Internet are used in different areas and are easier to use. Most data is easy to transmit and duplicate in digital format, and being tampered with and stolen easily leads to issues for content owners and service providers. The Paper describes a secure (tampering-resistant) method for watermarking images for protection and authentication and digital media like audio, video, and multimedia data, and a combination of singular value decomposition (SVD) and Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for insertion watermark by MATLAB to increase accuracy, simplicity, and flexibility Readability, secure robustness, and imperceptibility the visibility of the image. The proposed algorithm consists of three main steps: Firstly, we decomposed the original image into four sub-bands and the original watermark. Secondly, embed the watermark in the LL sub-band by replacing the singular value for the watermark. Finally, embed a watermark in the other three sub-bands by adding LL values for a watermark in each sub-band in the original image.

This project aimed to implement a prototype capable of real-time monitoring and control of various parameters in information management setting with Internet of Things (IoT). Research methodology involved designing and implementing the system prototype to resemble a supply container or transportation truck with installed sensors controlled by a microcontroller. Main components used temperature sensors (AHT20), RFID reader for access control, GPS module for location tracking, and a web/mobile dashboard for remote monitoring. Additionally, a robust database system was developed to store sensor readings and transaction history, ensuring data integrity and facilitating seamless communication between components for real-time data transmission. Key findings indicate that the system effectively monitors temperature, manages access control through RFID authentication, tracks real-time location via GPS, and provides a user-friendly dashboard interface for data visualization.

Spin-orbit-torque (SOT) switching is a potentially energy-efficient mechanism by which electrical current can control magnetization. We demonstrate room-temperature SOT switching in nanometer-thick CoFeB/SrIrO3 bilayers despite the amorphous nature of CoFeB and the interface. This behavior is attributed to the large spin Hall angle in SrIrO3 as well as high spin transmission at the interface that contribute to the SOT efficiency ξSOT. Our bilayers exhibit large ξSOT of up to 1.4 and effective spin Hall conductivity of 0.9×105 (ℏ/2e)Ω−1m−1. In our bilayers, we observe unidirectional magnetoresistance and current-induced magnetization switching with a low critical current density of 1.38×1010A/m2 at room temperature. Our results are promising for heterostructures combining technologically relevant CoFeB with high spin-orbit-coupling oxides.

We study P (n, 3), the size of the largest subset of the set of all permutations Sn with minimum Kendall τ -distance 3. Using a combination of group theory and integer programming, we reduced the upper bound of P (p, 3) from (p − 1)! − 1 to (p − 1)! − ⌈ p3 ⌉ + 2 ≤ (p − 1)! − 2 for all primes p ≥ 11. In special cases where n is equal to 6, 7, 11, 13, 14, 15 and 17 we reduced the upper bound of P (n, 3) by 3, 3, 9, 11, 1, 1 and 4, respectively. © 2022, CC BY.

Optical control of spin in semiconductors has been pioneered using nanostructures of III-V and II-VI semiconductors, but the emergence of two-dimensional van der Waals materials offers an alternative low-dimensional platform for spintronic phenomena. Indium selenide (InSe), a group-III monochalcogenide van der Waals material, has shown promise for optoelectronics due to its high electron mobility, tunable direct band gap, and quantum transport. In addition to these confirmed properties, there are predictions of spin-dependent optical selection rules, suggesting the potential for all-optical excitation and control of spin in a two-dimensional layered material. Despite these predictions, layer-dependent optical spin phenomena in InSe have yet to be explored. Here, we present measurements of layer-dependent optical spin dynamics in few-layer and bulk InSe. Polarized photoluminescence reveals layer-dependent optical orientation of spin, thereby demonstrating the optical selection rules in few-layer InSe. Spin dynamics are also studied in many-layer InSe using time-resolved Kerr rotation spectroscopy. By applying out-of-plane and in-plane static magnetic fields for polarized emission measurements and Kerr measurements, respectively, the g factor for InSe was extracted. Further investigations are done by calculating precession values using a k·p model, which is supported by ab initio density functional theory. Comparison of predicted precession rates with experimental measurements highlights the importance of excitonic effects in InSe for understanding spin dynamics. Optical orientation of spin is an important prerequisite for optospintronic phenomena and devices, and these first demonstrations of layer-dependent optical excitation of spins in InSe lay the foundation for combining layer-dependent spin properties with advantageous electronic properties found in this material.

Given the inherent ad-hoc nature of popular communication platforms, out-of-band authenticated key-exchange protocols are becoming widely deployed: Key exchange protocols that enable users to detect man-in-the-middle attacks by manually authenticating one short value. In this work we put forward the notion of immediate key delivery for such protocols, requiring that even if some users participate in the protocol but do not complete it (e.g., due to losing data connectivity or to other common synchronicity issues), then the remaining users should still agree on a shared secret. A property of a similar flavor was introduced by Alwen, Coretti and Dodis (EUROCRYPT19) asking for immediate decryption of messages in user-to-user messaging while assuming that a shared secret has already been established – but the underlying issue is crucial already during the initial key exchange and goes far beyond the context of messaging. Equipped with our immediate key delivery property, we formalize strong notions of security for out-of-band authenticated group key exchange, and demonstrate that the existing protocols either do not satisfy our notions of security or are impractical (these include, in particular, the protocols deployed by Telegram, Signal and WhatsApp). Then, based on the existence of any passively-secure key-exchange protocol (e.g., the Diffie-Hellman protocol), we construct an out-of-band authenticated group key-exchange protocol satisfying our notions of security.
