This study presents an electronic voting system using the face detection and verification methods. The proposed system consists of face detection and face identification module to detect and authenticate voters' face. Initially, voter's face is detected using facial land mark estimation module. While face verification module uses linear discriminant analysis integrated with the adaptive boosting method. Face detection and verification modules work perfectly up to pose variation up to ±15°. Detailed experiments show that proposed system achieves a mean accuracy of 94.15% and requires nearly 50 seconds to cast a single vote. The study also contributes to the development of an excellent alternative to conventional electoral system. © 2024 IEEE.

This research investigates the modeling, design, and simulation of a microgrid with advanced energy management controller, developed using MATLAB/Simulink. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis, modeling, and simulation of a smart controller for a boost converter, using an artificial neural network (ANN) for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to enhance power output. The study begins with a comparison between traditional MPPT techniques and the ANN-based approach. These MPPT strategies are compared in terms of their response to dynamic weather conditions (such as temperature and irradiance variations) and their ability to minimize oscillations around the maximum power point. The simulation results demonstrate that the ANN-based MPPT method outperforms the conventional P&O and IC methods, providing faster response times and higher output power. Additionally, the system's performance was evaluated under conditions of power shortage and during battery charging and discharging cycles, showing the effectiveness of the smart controller in maintaining system stability and optimizing energy management. © 2025 IEEE.

Understanding the impact of events reported in news articles plays pivotal roles in various tasks. In this study, we propose a framework for extracting event components from the news and analyzing their multifaceted impact. The framework employs transformers techniques for event extraction and leverages a biography knowledge base to assess the potential impact of events across social, political, economic, and culture (SPEC) dimensions. Our framework achieves an F1-score of 78.12% in event identification as well as significant accuracy score in evaluating the impact levels prediction. By integrating results from event extraction and impact analysis, the level of multifaceted influence of the event along with the event information are effectively visualized. This comprehensive approach enhances understanding of multi-perspective interpretation and supports insights for various applications. © 2024 IEEE.

In the realm of fashion technology, the introduction of smart textiles and wearable sensors may be attributed to the fast progression of technology and the rising need for customized, interactive, and intelligent apparel. This study investigates the interface of electronics and textiles to develop cutting-edge, multifunctional, and flexible apparel. This research digs into the fascinating world of smart textiles. It investigates the many different kinds of sensors, such as temperature sensors, heart rate monitors, motion detectors, and chemical sensors that may be easily incorporated into the fabric. These sensors make a wide variety of applications possible, such as improved user experiences, monitoring of health conditions, and data collecting on the surrounding environment. In addition, to assure the practicability and usage of smart textiles, it addresses the problems and possibilities connected with various power sources, connection choices, and data processing units. The novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread rapidly around the world and caused overwhelming effects on the health and economy of the world. It first appeared in Wuhan city of China and was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). Many researchers, as well as experts in clinical and artificial intelligence experts, are working together to control the rapid spread of COVID-19 with early detection. This study focused on intelligent prediction for coronavirus using computational intelligence approaches (IPC-FCIA) like convolutional neural networks, support vector machines, and fuzzy logic techniques. The proposed IPC-FCIA model is based on two sections namely the training section and the validation section. Features fusion and decision-level fusion are used in this study to enhance the performance of the recommended IPC-FCIA model. The proposed model predicts the early detection of COVID-19 in two types COVID-negative and COVID-positive. The benchmark results of the model show an accuracy of 97.66 % on decision-level fusion in the detection of COVID-19. The proposed model can be helpful for medical experts as well as COVID-19-affected patients. © 2025 Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea. All rights reserved.

The expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) is driven by the proliferation of interconnected wireless gadgets, made possible by ever-improving computer and Internet infrastructure. The IoT is an extensive system of interconnected sensors and gateways. In the course of their constant environmental interaction, IoT devices produce a wealth of data resources, including images, audio, video, digital signals, and more. Connectivity to the Internet allows all Internet of Things (IoT) equipment and apps to exchange data and resources more effectively. The proposed AI-Driven Digital Mirror Technology effectively enhances the security of IoT-enabled smart infrastructures by integrating real-time monitoring, anomaly detection, and adaptive response mechanisms. By employing advanced AI algorithms such as Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) and Reinforcement Learning (RL), the technology mirrors IoT environments digitally, enabling dynamic modeling and threat assessment. The system demonstrated a significant improvement in threat detection accuracy, achieving a precision rate of 95.6% and a recall rate of 93.2% during simulations. Additionally, the adaptive response mechanism reduced the average response time to security breaches by 40%, ensuring minimal disruption to infrastructure operations. Comparative analysis with traditional security solutions highlighted the system's superiority in mitigating complex, multi-layered attacks, and its scalability makes it suitable for various smart infrastructure applications, including smart cities, industrial automation, and intelligent transportation systems. The results underscore the potential of AI-Driven Digital Mirror Technology in securing IoT ecosystems against evolving cyber threats while maintaining operational efficiency and resilience. © 2024 IEEE.

Currently, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology is widely used for communication convenience in converting speech to text. Initial surveys reveal that existing studies on ASR, both in Thai and foreign languages, focus on contemporary language communication, lacking support for specialized vocabulary. Traditional Thai Medicine contain ancient medical terminology recorded in various media such as palm leaves, parchment, notebooks, and inscriptions. Centuries of textual preservation have led to text degradation. Given the suitability of ASR study to accommodate medical terminology and ancient languages, it is proposed to apply it to convert original Traditional Thai Medicine texts into contemporary language, aiding experts in reading and interpreting them. ASR involves converting speech signals into text. In this study, Hidden Markov Model techniques using Kaldi are employed. Due to the absence of a Thai Traditional Medicine vocabulary repository, a dataset comprising text and speech is developed, consisting of 900 training sentences and 100 test sentences randomly selected from recordings of 10 Thai Traditional Medicine experts. Offline evaluation methods are employed, resulting in improved accuracy rates. Future efforts will focus on expanding the speech dataset to enhance recognition accuracy further. This study lays the groundwork for efficiently extracting knowledge from Traditional Thai Medicine prescriptions, ensuring the preservation of this valuable heritage for future generations. © 2024 IEEE.

Creating resilient machine learning (ML) systems has become necessary to ensure production-ready ML systems that acquire user confidence seamlessly. The quality of the input data and the model highly influence the successful end-to-end testing in data-sensitive systems. However, the testing approaches of input data are not as systematic and are few compared to model testing. To address this gap, this paper presents the Fault Injection for Undesirable Learning in input Data (FIUL-Data) testing framework that tests the resilience of ML models to multiple intentionally-triggered data faults. Data mutators explore vulnerabilities of ML systems against the effects of different fault injections. The proposed framework is designed based on three main ideas: The mutators are not random;one data mutator is applied at an instance of time, and the selected ML models are optimized beforehand. This paper evaluates the FIUL-Data framework using data from analytical chemistry, comprising retention time measurements of anti-sense oligonucleotide. Empirical evaluation is carried out in a two-step process in which the responses of selected ML models to data mutation are analyzed individually and then compared with each other. The results show that the FIUL-Data framework allows the evaluation of the resilience of ML models. In most experiments cases, ML models show higher resilience at larger training datasets, where gradient boost performed better than support vector regression in smaller training sets. Overall, the mean squared error metric is useful in evaluating the resilience of models due to its higher sensitivity to data mutation. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Tracking is a crucial problem for nonlinear systems as it ensures stability and enables the system to accurately follow a desired reference signal. Using Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy models, this paper addresses the problem of fuzzy observer and control design for a class of nonlinear systems. The Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy models can represent nonlinear systems because it is a universal approximation. Firstly, the T–S fuzzy modeling is applied to get the dynamics of an observational system in order to estimate the unmeasurable states of an unknown nonlinear system. There are various kinds of nonlinear systems that can be modeled using T–S fuzzy systems by combining the input state variables linearly. Secondly, the T–S fuzzy systems can handle unknown states as well as parameters known to the indirect adaptive fuzzy observer. A simple feedback method is used to implement the proposed controller. As a result, the feedback linearization method allows for solving the singularity problem without using any additional algorithms. A fuzzy model representation of the observation system comprises parameters and a feedback gain. The Lyapunov function and Lipschitz conditions are used in constructing the adaptive law. This method is then illustrated by an illustrative example to prove its effectiveness with different kinds of nonlinear functions. A well-designed controller is effective and its performance index minimizes network utilization—this factor is particularly significant when applied to wireless communication systems. © The Author(s) 2024.

To achieve climate neutrality by 2050, the consistent transformation of the mobility sector is one of the most important pillars of the European Green deal. As a result of green and sustainable approaches, novel automotive concepts and massive digitalisation in the mobility ecosystem is undergoing a continuous development towards eco-friendly solutions and novel business models, and the changing landscape of automotive industry comes with a significant social impact as well. The overall horizontal collaboration on skills agenda in the Automotive-Mobility Ecosystem is assured throughout the Automotive Skills Alliance (ASA) [1], which is the Large-scale Pact for Skills Partnership. The latest strategic project of the partnership to support its activities is the Digital & Green Skills Towards Future of the Mobility Ecosystem (TRIREME) which promotes a collaboration between industry stakeholders and training providers including Vocational education Trainings (VETs), Higher Educations (HEs) and universities), moreover, also emphasizing the widespread public representation of different project segments and evaluating the social impacts and regional impact of the changes in the Automotive-Mobility Ecosystem. In parallel to the development of sectoral skills strategy, our department (department of Electronics Technology-ETT) is contributing to deliver specific training materials and courses within Work Package 4 (WP4), which is based on the gathered and processed intelligence from previous desk research, survey activity and participation in professional events. The methodology of course development relies on the concept of modularity, our professional competences in the field of Automotive-mobility, and the fulfillment of requirements to cover the needed skills, the competence and the occupational profile subsets. © 2024 IEEE.
